Details: automatic transmission Honda Accord DIY repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
One day in the fall, after a good fire, I noticed that when switching from 1 gear to 2, slipping occurs (and only at high speeds). Well, I resigned myself, I drove like a pensioner (in this case, the slip did not bother me).
So I traveled for a couple of months ... then it feels like, while you are driving smoothly, you do not press the gas, the car accelerates, but if you press the pedal sharply, the revolutions jump, but the car does not accelerate…. Once I decided to demonstrate this problem to my friend. I pressed the floor, and the car was barely going, stopped at a traffic light and could not get under way anymore ... .. the box died 🙂
I went to a specialized service who repairs boxes, to find out how much the repair will cost. I was told a figure of about 50t.r. (with the words that only the body will remain of my box - I questioned this statement, because if you count all the NEW spare parts for the box, more than 100t.r will come out). and did not like the attitude. The contract box was offered to me for 45t.r. (but this is a pig in a poke - there are no guarantees that I will not have to replace it even in a month). Therefore, I decided to do it myself (I had no experience before).
I will not describe the removal of the box, since this is a really big "hemorrhoid"! I didn’t have a winch to hang the box by the ears, who knows, he will understand what that means. I shot it with 4 jacks, first the subframe, the front suspension, the drive, then the box (I broke the linear pressure solenoid chip (I was able to solder everything - but that's another story))
He took off the box, drained the oil from the box and the torque converter (a donut in common people) - pumped it out with a syringe. Nothing was found in the oil, neither trash nor metal shavings, only burnt black oil. An external examination showed that the transformer was in order, there was no discoloration of the metal (the metal turns blue from overheating).
Video (click to play). |
The parsing of the box began, I removed the plastic end cover, under it was a connector to the position sensor (inhibitor if I am not mistaken). We remove the connector, remove the position sensor. We unscrew the cover with 10 bolts and see:
We remove the gears (parking - left-hand thread, and the input shaft gear), remove the parking dog, set the shift lever with a slot on the housing, unclench the secondary shaft retaining ring (otherwise the housing will not be removed.) Remove the solenoid cover, remove the solenoid wiring and the main terminal block.
We unscrew 19 bolts around the perimeter of the case and remove
the case (it is removed with effort) and then we see:
Remove the gear, reverse gear fork from the intermediate shaft. Remove the filter (unscrew two bolts). I could not resist breaking it to see what was inside.
This is the actual reason for the loss of pressure.
Go ahead. We remove the oil scraper plate, the shift lever, all the tubes, now we need to carefully and simultaneously pull out all three shafts, then remove the differential.
According to the instructions of the Honda Accord shop2003 (there is a download link on the forum), we check the differential for clearances, the shafts are also disassembled according to the instructions, we remove the friction packs. And here it is. The clutches of the 2nd and 4th gears burned out just to the trash, the discs are blue, the clutches that were crumbling in the photo did not work out very well.
I go buy steel discs and clutches and both filters, 2 gaskets. Friction discs must be soaked in oil before installation.
We collect packages, collect shafts and put them aside.
We start washing the box. I want to warn you. No need to wash the box with acetone-based cleaning fluids (that's what the instructions say and people say). I bought 4 liters of gasoline and a paintbrush and it started 🙂
We remove the servovalve (14 bolts), carefully wash everything, take out the pistons of the accumulators, wash it, examine it for seizures, tears of the sealing gum, etc. We dry and assemble everything in the reverse order.
Remove the main regulator (9 bolts), wash, study, dry everything.
We remove the main valve block (carefully there are 2 balls and one check valve on the spring, do not lose it, the balls cannot be magnetised in any case).
We disassemble the valve block, take out all the pistons there are 8 of them, examine them for wear and tear, measure the springs according to the manual described above. collect in the reverse order. Be sure to lubricate all pistons with oil.
We wash all metal plates, hydraulic channels, bearings, remove two pump gears and check clearances.
At the same time I change the oil seal (I forgot what it is called, where the torque converter is inserted). Putting it up in the reverse order.
Pump gears, metal plate, main valve block, 2 balls, bypass spring valve, metal plate, reactor shaft.
We put in place the main regulator, the servo valve, we install the filter (be sure to fill it with oil!)
We put the oil pipes, put the differential, install all three shafts together (do not break the oil scraper plate).
We put a new gasket, first, clean and dry the place under it! I poured oil on all the working parts.
We put on the housing, do not forget to open the circlip of the secondary shaft, make sure that the ring then sits in the bearing groove on the shaft.
We put on the parking gear (I strongly recommend observing all tightening torques! - they are all described in the manual), the input shaft gear.
Putting together the gear lever mechanism and the parking dog.
Turning the shafts periodically and making sure everything turns smoothly.
We put a new gasket on the side cover and close it. We put the solenoid wiring in place, the input shaft rotation speed sensors, the solenoid is all in place (I did not change the gaskets under them, since they did not break and were apparently suitable).
We change the filter on the cooling pipes (also need to be filled with oil)
We expose the gear lever position sensor (everything is described in the manual).
Fill the torque converter with oil (I didn’t measure it, I filled in about half a liter) and put it in the box.
According to the manual, 6.5 liters of oil are poured into the repaired box. First, I filled in 5 liters, started the engine, warmed it up, set the level. (ON THIS HONDA, THE OIL IS MEASURED ON A STOPPED WARM ENGINE)
And the Moment of Truth… .. the lever in D and… .. she went. the lever in R and I did not even realize that she switched, not a sound, not a jolt, and drove off.
Subtracted that a small run-in is necessary (ride 10-20 kilometers calmly so that the oil passes through the entire system and drives out excess air).
And then I hit the gas. It’s not a car, it’s a rocket — it’s never run like that. NO kicks or slippage, you do not feel switching, only on the tachometer needle you can see, Just heaven and earth!
1. Internal filter - 1200
2. External filter - 1000
3. Friction disk 9 x 350 = 3150
4. Steel disk 8x450 = 3600
5. Gasket large 1300
6. Spacer small 900
7. Oil Honda ATF-Z1 4l 2100x2 = 4200
8. Oil seal - 800

Honda Accord automatic transmission repair with a guarantee from six months to 2 years
Overhaul of the Honda Accord automatic transmission is a procedure that every vehicle owner would like to avoid. But many neglect the simplest rules for operating a car and bring the matter to an expensive repair of the automatic transmission Honda Accord 7.
The prices are approximate, check the exact cost by phone.
Aggressive driving style, allowing oil starvation - all this, undoubtedly, does not affect the health of the mechanism in the best way. And at the same time, add far from the best operating conditions due to the quality of Russian roads. In addition to observing the simple rules for operating the car, in order to prevent early repair of the Honda Accord automatic transmission, you should pay attention to such negative manifestations as:
- Gear Shifting Honda Accord
- Switching to emergency mode Accord
- Presence of noise, knocking, vibrations in the gearbox
If the repair procedure cannot be avoided, you can carry it out in our car service at an affordable cost of repairing an automatic Accord box. Repair is carried out for cars of various models: Accord 6, Accord 7, Accord 8, Accord 9. We also work with all common models of gearboxes for Honda Accord, namely MAXA, B7XA, MCTA, BCLA, BAYA, MAYA.
Before performing the procedure, our employees diagnose the Honda box. During the repair of the Honda Accord automatic transmission, the car owner can be present at the disassembly stage to see which parts need to be replaced and to agree on all the features about new parts.
If your car needs urgent repair of the Honda Accord automatic transmission, but there is no way to arrive on your own due to a malfunction of the car, we will help you evacuate the car to our car service for free. Do not forget about the timely oil change in the Honda Accord automatic transmission.
In the event of a major overhaul, the gearbox is removed from the vehicle. At this stage, the mechanic carefully examines the condition of all systems serving the gearbox, power unit mounting supports, etc.
After dismantling from the car, the automatic transmission goes to the overhaul area. It should be noted that on this site, as well as on all previous ones, experienced craftsmen who have a higher technical education (engineering and physical) work. Here, the Honda Accord automatic transmission is repaired, and after washing and drying all parts, their fault detection is carried out, i.e. the possibility of further use of each part or the need for its replacement is determined.
If desired, any customer can be present both during the disassembly of the gearbox and during the fault detection of its parts. At the end of this procedure, a list of replacement parts is drawn up, which is then necessarily agreed with the customer. It should be especially noted that during a major overhaul, it is necessary, regardless of the state of the automatic transmission, to replace all seals and gaskets. The use of original spare parts only from manufacturers of gearboxes increases the service life of a repaired Honda Accord automatic transmission, but leads to a significant increase in the cost of spare parts. To achieve the most optimal combination of price-quality ratio allows the use of aftermarket parts, i.e. companies specializing in the production of spare parts for automatic transmissions.
Installation is carried out taking into account all technical requirements. At this stage, the failed mounting elements and auxiliary transmission service systems are replaced. In addition, during installation, preliminary adjustments are made to the elements of the external part of the control system.
Output diagnostics and car break-in. They are carried out using the same techniques as the entrance diagnostics. In addition, all previously existing fault codes are erased from the memory of the control unit.

Visited us Honda cr-v, this is a compact crossover equipped with an automatic transmission model MZHA - 5-speed automatic transmission family from Honda.
The car came to us NOT on its own, it was brought by our free tow truck , because the car did not move on its own either forward or backward. Computer diagnostics revealed three errors, and all three were on solenoids, plus the smell of burnt oil signaled a strong overheating of the automatic transmission for a long time.
It was decided to carry out an automatic transmission defect
During the troubleshooting process, malfunctions were identified, namely:
-Burned clutch packs;
- Strong wear of the main pressure valve;
-Defective torque converter (overrun clutch turned over).
In general, it should be noted that the automatic transmission on Honda breaks down extremely rarely. This is not the most common repair, so many services simply do not undertake the repair of such boxes, and if they do, they do not even know where to start troubleshooting, because the structure of the CP data is quite seriously different from the classical ones. Trust your car to professionals.
Our masters made repairs to this automatic transmission in a short time, and after a while the car returned to the roads of our city.
And this little Honda Jazz came to us with a noise from the variator, during the disassembly process we saw a broken variator bearing, which was “scattered throughout the variator ..
We also performed testing of the solenoids, and found several faulty ones, which also affected the correct operation of the variator itself.
We replaced the set of consumables, bearings, and installed working solenoids, the problems are gone!

GEARMATIC - partial and overhaul repairs of automatic transmission Honda Accord in Moscow with a guarantee.
If you feel that the box does not behave as usual, then you should diagnose the Accord automatic transmission, we list the typical symptoms of a malfunction indicating a possible imminent breakdown:
- skidding (slipping)
- a signal appeared on the instrument panel - automatic transmission emergency mode
- constant or intermittent vibration (pillows also need to be checked)
- jerks when shifting down / up to any of the gears, jerks to cold or hot
- gears do not turn on, gear is lost
- blows in transmission, kicks
- slows down, dulls, makes noise
Also, do not forget to do the maintenance of the Accord automatic transmission on time (at least changing the oil (ATF) and filter, in advanced cases - flushing the valve body), nevertheless, driving into the bulkhead is a more expensive undertaking. Periodically check the oil level in your transmission yourself (if equipped with a dipstick). Be sure to warm up the box in winter, at least while driving on low gas (if you are in a hurry).
If you have a malfunction or breakdown of the automatic transmission Honda Accord 9 8 7 6 and you want to ask a question (about maintenance, diagnostics, problem solving), you want to leave a review about the transmission on this car (share with others), leave a review about our work - all this you can do using the comment form below.
Hello, please tell me why the light on the panel D device sometimes goes out, it happens that with P I cannot turn on the speed, and if it turns on, then there is a jerk, and sometimes it turns on smoothly. And also, when I start the car, when I turn the ignition key, the car does not start immediately, but after a certain period of time, is it connected with the automatic transmission. It happens on P, I can not pull out the key. Either everything works fine, then intermittently, as mentioned above.

In every car, parts and mechanisms wear out over time, especially given the poor condition of the roads and careless driving. Even such picky and reliable cars as Honda Accord eventually require specialist intervention.
If you notice any problems during gear shifting, hear various noises or feel strong vibrations, then diagnostics and, most likely, repair of the Honda Accord automatic transmission are necessary.
What signals that Honda automatic transmission repair is needed?
- The corresponding indicator comes on.
- Switching is jerky or very slow.
- The car began to slip unexpectedly.
- Significant vibrations began to appear periodically or constantly.
- There is a banging sound in the transmission area or noises.
When the above signs appear, you should think about carrying out diagnostics in order to determine why they appeared. Also, do not forget to carry out maintenance in a timely manner: change the oil, filter, rinse the valve body.

If you have questions or need advice, call!
- lack of timely service;
- improper use of automatic transmission;
- emergency situations;
- long towing with the engine off.
Frequent trips at a speed of more than 170 km / h can accelerate wear, as during this, parts are very hot. The lubrication begins to flow less intensely, which contributes to the loosening of the planetary gear.
Try to use quality oil and consumables in order to increase the service life and not exceed the permitted speed on the road.
Computer diagnostics involves the use of the latest equipment that allows you to find out the coded information. Thanks to this method, it is possible to view various data, temperatures and much more with high accuracy.
Diagnostics with a visual inspection from our specialists allows us to assess all external parameters, including the quality and quantity of oil, leakage of liquids and the presence of cracks and dents.
In some cases, the car is diagnosed with a test drive. After all the required operations and determining the causes of the malfunction, it is necessary to Honda Accord automatic transmission repair.

Variation of automatic transmission at Honda Accord (Honda)
On the first generation HONDA CR-V cars equipped with the M4TA automatic transmission (electronic), the following problem is often encountered:
The automatic transmission, which worked like a good Swiss watch until a certain day, suddenly starts to slip when shifting in all gears.
The so-called clutch pressure control valve is to blame. More precisely, its spring, which simply breaks into two parts.

Hello, I have such a problem disassembled by automatic transmission MGSA Honda Odyssey j30a due to clogged box. Flushed completely assembled and she does not edit, the shafts do not spin when you give more gas the shafts move a little bit from the spot. tell me what could be. I sin on the torque converter, I don't know if it's right. And even from 2.3 a torque converter to 3.0 is suitable?
Hello! Thanks for the answer . I cannot understand where the pump itself is located, is it installed in the torque converter? And how can it be damaged when installing it, can I do something wrong? The car behaved like that when the automatic transmission began to shoot. Maybe I was digging in the wrong direction?
Thank you very much, I understood. When I flushed the valve body there, I found that the collar of the large gear of the oil pump had been destroyed because of this there is small damage on both gears. I have not betrayed any meaning to this. Perhaps this is the problem?
thanks a lot. Very useful and timely advice, otherwise I could not decide on a contract or a repair. Now the contract.
Honda accord - a long-liver in a large family of models produced by a Japanese manufacturer. The first sedan rolled off the assembly line in 1976, and today the ninth generation of cars can be seen on the roads. The novelty was presented at the Detroit Auto Show in 2012. At the moment, this model is available with two body types: a 4-door 5-seater sedan and a 2-door coupe with 4 seats. For a long time, the release of the Honda Accord has repeatedly received the prestigious title of "Car of the Year".
In Russia, the car is presented with engines of 2.4 and 3.5 liters. The 2.0-liter, 180-horsepower DOHC powertrain with overhead camshafts has 4 cylinders and 16 valves. The engine block, made of light alloy, is controlled by the i-VTEC system. The engine develops a thrust of 228 N * m at 4000 rpm. V-shaped 6-cylinder V6 SOHC engine with a volume of 3.5 liters has 24 valves. The power unit develops a power of 280 l / s and a thrust of 350 N * m at 5000 rpm. The engines are aggregated with a 6-speed CVT transmission.
Repair of the Honda Accord automatic transmission is most often required due to wear of the support bearings - important parts in the design of the differential. The unit is exposed to maximum load, as a result of which it often fails. Honda's transmission is sensitive to driving style, oil quality and the frequency of oil changes. It is these indicators that have a greater impact on the stability of the automatic transmission. At least twice a year, a Honda Accord automatic transmission requires diagnostics to identify malfunctions and their causes before serious damage occurs.
More than 10 years of experience in repairing automatic transmissions and variators.

Most of the troubles associated with automatic transmission breakdown can be avoided by following basic driving techniques. Try to avoid prolonged driving in excess of the standard speed (more than 160 km / h), which leads to overheating of the automatic transmission and a lack of lubrication of rubbing units. Towing another vehicle over a long distance is highly discouraged. It is undesirable to tow your car with the engine off. Before each start of movement, warm up the engine, monitor the oil level in the automatic transmission and try to exclude slippage of any nature (sharp acceleration and braking, driving through mud and snow), which negatively affects the friction disc package. Be sure to monitor the oil level and try to flush the cooling system more often. This will help you avoid future Honda automatic transmission repairs.
For fans of fast driving, the manufacturer recommends changing ATF (automatic transmission oil) more often, using only the brand recommended by him. An oil change in a Honda automatic transmission should be carried out in a workshop, where the old fluid will be removed and the box thoroughly rinsed before filling with a new one.
Timely oil change in Honda automatic transmission will save you from overheating of the gearbox and wear of rubbing surfaces, so try to adhere to the recommended timing.
