As it usually happens, we removed the automatic transmission, and carried out troubleshooting, the malfunction turned out to be typical for this type of automatic transmission, namely the problem of the 3-5-R clutch, this is a “childhood disease” of these automatic transmissions that we can deal with.

Also, a set of gaskets fell under the replacement, and the spare parts necessary for repair, only if all consumables are replaced, you can be sure of repairing your automatic transmission.

The essence of this problem in this 6-speed automatic transmission manufactured by GM lies in a childhood illness, namely, when peak torque loads are reached, a wavy spring bursts, it is also a “Belleville spring”. As a result of such a breakdown, the entire clutch pack begins to dangle and often leads to the failure of the sun gear bushing. Also, among the faults, a broken chain damper, also known as a plastic diff protection, was noticed.

As a result, they got replaced:

Gasket kit;
- Drum 3-5-R (wear);
-Spring disk;
-Oil and filters.

I also had to service the torque converter so as not to return to the repair of the automatic transmission, and perform all the adaptations, including setting the level and oil shelf life through electronic diagnostics.

Clients received a 1.5-year guarantee for the work performed.

The client came to the diagnostics and complained that the box seemed to “stick”, it went into “tightness”, and in the low gear mode it worked better.

We carried out electronic diagnostics which showed that there is an error in the 5th gear, namely
– P0735 (5th gear misadjusted)
And an error on the gearbox control unit P0700 (transmission control system, malfunction).

Troubleshooting also showed burnt friction discs, a brake band, a brake drum, a pump and an AW55-51 control unit.

We have carried out a major overhaul of this box, and the owner received a 1.5 year warranty on the repaired unit!

The car came to us with an error in the TCM system (Gearbox Control) and we almost immediately began troubleshooting the box.

After troubleshooting, we found a standard sore for this gearbox (6T30), namely a faulty 3-5-R clutch. This happens due to the fact that the spring disk often does not withstand sharp starts and accelerations and simply bursts when the peak torque is reached.

As a result, the entire clutch package begins to “hang out” and leads to the failure of the sun gear bushing, and malfunctions of the drum itself.

Also in this case, the chain damper (plastic protection) became unusable.

The amount of the restoration repair of this box was 88 thousand rubles, for this money the client received essentially a new automatic transmission with a guarantee 1.5 years!

One of the few examples when automatic transmissions of the 6T40 series are killed to such a state. Car Chevy Orlando, 2012 onwards, with a mileage of 214.000 km. This is already a pretty good indicator.

Even with this mileage, the symptoms were very "modest" - this Chevrolet Orlando wasted (R) back, dismantled and surprised how the car moved at all under its own power!

Completely burnt steel discs that have changed their structure and geometry. Broken spring disc, plastic protection. And even the “sun gear”.

Replaced were: Pistons, spring discs, retainers, planetary gear, freewheel, bushing kit, 3-5-R drum, sun gear, almost everything that had to be replaced, the photo shows the extent of the damage .. do not bring the car to this! Surprisingly, the valve body as a whole left a good impression, and in order to save money for the client, it was decided to leave it.
