In detail: do-it-yourself Toyota automatic transmission repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Toyota automatic transmission repair is a very time-consuming and complex process. This is usually done by experienced people in a workshop or service center. However, after reading the article, it will become easier for you to repair an automatic transmission with your own hands.
The first thing to start with is to remove all sensors and attachments. After that, we begin to disassemble the automatic transmission box, that is, we remove two bolts for seventeen, four bolts for fourteen and seven pump bolts for twelve. The next step is to remove the pallet. Pay attention directly to the filter, it is usually dirty.
The filter is attached with 3 bolts. Having diagnosed the filter, you can tell a lot about the causes of the malfunction of the automatic transmission. After you have removed the filter, the brains or hydraulic logic open before us, in which the blocking valve, pressure valve, three switching valves are located.
We remove the hydraulic logic. To do this, disconnect the chips of electric solenoids and ten bolts on the head. We unhook them and remove the brains. After removing the bolts, slowly separate the plate. Please note that you immediately need to remove the drain valve from the fluid coupling and the battery.
Once again we check that nothing has fallen and nothing is lost, that is, we check for any loose parts manually. Then we remove the pump by screwing in two bolts on the sides, the bolts, by the way, come from the starter.
We bring the bolts to the stop and tighten the head, it is not necessary to apply force, as it can be damaged. After doing these manipulations from the side, we loosen the two twelve bolts that hold the pan. Then we take it out and immediately look at the presence of malfunctions. Attention! Turn the pan over carefully, because small parts may fall out of it.

Do-it-yourself Toyota automatic transmission repair must be very careful, so we arrange all the parts of the automatic transmission in order, so that during assembly you do not get confused about what and where to attach. Then we take out the fourth speed package, which raises the row.
Next, we inspect the bearing washers, but be extremely careful with them, because they can fall, and you, from the abundance of parts in the automatic transmission, will not be able to guess that it was right there. We disconnect the stopper, which can cause some difficulties, you can resort to using a screwdriver, but everything should be done very carefully so as not to damage anything. Most often, when diagnosing an automatic transmission, wear of the bushing is detected, due to which the shafts begin to walk.
Also here you can see what turned the bearings, that is, they turn in the inner race. All defective parts should not only be found, but also replaced.
Any do-it-yourself repair is quite profitable financially, since you do not need to give your hard-earned money to specialists. But, if you are not very confident in your abilities, contact the service station, where they will help you save some time and wasted nerves. However, remember that any work done by yourself is of better quality, since you are unlikely to save on your car.

Aisin is the main supplier and manufacturer of automatic transmissions for foreign cars, this company is part of the Japanese concern Toyota. All products of such a company are considered the most durable and reliable, manufactured in accordance with the most stringent quality standards.Nowadays, you can still find a car produced in the 80s, which still successfully operate four and three-speed automatic transmissions from Aisin.
It is impossible to meet a car enthusiast who does not know about the famous Toyota car, the rating of this car occupies a leading position. This is explained by the unsurpassed craftsmanship and high-quality work of Japanese masters. Toyota owes its reliability to the excellent quality of components and assemblies and a high level of control over assembly quality.
For a long time, Toyota has been purchasing the classic and simplest models from Aisin, which have remained in their arsenal for a long time, while being constantly upgraded. Some of the most popular, durable and reliable gearboxes are A140, A340, A40. They work great, are distinguished by their durability, but this does not mean that they will not need repair.
Repair of a Toyota automatic box, in this case, is not difficult, if we compare it with the repair of modern electronic boxes.
In a Toyota car, a problem with the mechanical part may occur, the friction clutches are destroyed and the planetary gear may suffer. Such breakdowns are caused in most cases due to improper operation of the car. One of the common causes of malfunction of the A40 automatic transmission is a broken wire that controls the solenoid. The task of the master is to splice the wire.
Automatic transmission A 140 - Toyota automatic transmission repair is required in case of mechanical damage to the differential and due to violation of friction pairs. There are such troubles due to the fault of the driver, you need to be more careful. Gearboxes of the A 140 (130) series have separate lubrication systems: the main differential and the machine itself are provided with lubrication separately. After draining the oil from both drain holes, the car owner often forgets to refill it into both systems. Or they can pour it into both the machine and the differential, which is lubricated with viscous conventional gear oil. As a result, oil starvation occurs, and it becomes necessary to repair the box.
Repair of automatic transmission Toyota Camry and other models
Automatic gearbox Toyota U 140 b RAV 4. One hundred and fortieth series of gearboxes belongs to the classic model. The hydraulic and mechanical part of such a box is distinguished by its reliability. But sometimes the electronic unit breaks down. As a result, incorrect signals are sent to the hydraulic blocks, which lead to serious problems associated with hydraulics and mechanics. The electronic unit needs to be replaced.
Automatic transmissions of the U140 series with electronic control have an important feature - a system of protection against breakage. The principle of this system: as a result of slipping, the box stops switching, before that it goes into emergency mode. In this case, starting is only possible from higher gears.
One of the most reliable and popular cars on the market is Toyota Corolla, this car always occupies a leading position. Automatic transmission is also one of the best. Automatic transmission PU341F has a classic design, it is a four-speed automatic transmission. Such a design is considered not to be killed, it will work for a long time, the main thing is to properly operate and change filters and working fluid in a timely manner. Therefore, the repair of the automatic transmission of this model, as well as the repair of the automatic transmission of the Toyota Camry, is not required very often. Only one accident can happen with this box - the hydraulic plate breaks down, in this case, the repair of the Toyota automatic box consists in replacing the solenoids block.

On modern Toyota Corolla models (the latest generation), a manual gearbox with automatic control is installed - robotic. And the need to repair Toyota automatic transmissions arises much more often. There is a breakdown of the clutch control unit.If the control electronics fails, the control unit begins to generate incorrect signals for disengaging and engaging the clutch. As a result, there are impacts when turned on and slippage. The main thing is to notice the problem in time, then it will not be difficult to fix it. The clutch control unit needs to be replaced or repaired. In case of late detection of the problem, it will be necessary to intervene in the mechanical part or replace the assembly.
Since 2002, Toyota Land Cruiser has been installing new A750F automatic transmissions, such a five-speed transmission, equipped with a large amount of electronics. Often there are breakdowns of the oil deposit and the torque converter. This leads to mechanical damage. Well, do the repair of Toyota automatic transmission with your own hands or contact the service station specialists - the decision is up to the owner of the car. Although qualified specialists of service points do not make a difference between brands and models of cars. Any work, whether it be a VAZ 2107 clutch repair or a Peugeot 206 oil change, car window tinting or Toyota automatic transmission repair, will be done in good faith and on time.

The recently issued law of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which simplifies the process of registering a car, regardless of the owner's place of residence, will also facilitate the purchase and sale of equipment in the country's megacities. It will be possible not only to buy a car, but also to repair it at the metropolitan service stations, already registered for a new owner. The only thing to remember is that any repair, even glass tinting in Moscow, will require more expenses than repairs in other settlements. Although it is much cheaper to buy spare parts or, for example, buy a polymer for glass repair in the capital.
An automatic transmission is an expensive unit. It makes no sense to delay the repair if it starts to work incorrectly. In a car service, such repairs are an expensive pleasure. You have to pay for the work of specialists and for parts. Having studied the market and the price range of services in this segment, motorists come to the conclusion that do-it-yourself automatic transmission repair is not such a pointless undertaking. The prices of service station masters cannot be called modest, and professionalism does not always correspond to the price. And, after some thought, motorists may decide to troubleshoot on their own.
Wherever you decide to repair the gearbox, the whole process goes as follows:
diagnostics,
dismantling the box
box disassembly,
spare parts kit,
assembly (installation),
car installation,
diagnostics after repair.
To fix the problem yourself, you will need some car mechanic skills, tools, a certain amount of time to work, patience and perseverance.
All automatic transmissions are arranged in the same way, but There are two types of transmission control - hydraulic and electronic. Their repair has some differences.
It is important to notice problems in the transmission at an early stage. Then, with proper diagnosis, complex repairs can be avoided. Quiet and smooth operation of the automatic transmission is considered normal. There are a lot of signs that something is wrong with the box. Most often, these are extraneous sounds when shifting gears or during transmission robots. It can be a crunch, clicks. An unpleasant smell also indicates problems. It can appear during long or short-term operation of the box. Worse, if the gear shifting slows down, or one of them does not work at all. Then immediate intervention is required.
Do not be lazy to look under the car, it should be clean there. Spots of red color will indicate an oil leak from the gearbox. Checking the oil level regularly is a must. Normally, it should be translucent, reddish in color. No smells of burnt or cloudy shades! If they appear, it's time to change the oil.
Automatic transmission malfunctions often occur due to improper use. The transmission becomes unusable due to insufficient oil level or its overheating. For this reason, gears wear out, the machine can jerk when switching gears. As a result, any part of the automatic transmission may fail. Shocks during movement indicate oil overheating and problems in the valve body.
Aggressive driving with hard accelerations and decelerations will cause details to be erased. Does not add durability to the box and driving in traffic jams, slipping. All this leads to overheating of the box and badly affects its general condition.
All faults are divided into two subgroups. They may occur in
electronic control system,
mechanical and hydraulic parts of the gearbox.
In the event of a malfunction, the automatic transmission goes into emergency mode, that is, it becomes in third gear and does not switch. The corresponding icon appears on the board.
If problems arose with the electronics, then it will not be possible to fix them by repairing the automatic transmission. Therefore, it is important to understand the nature of the faults.
In diagnostics, the main thing is to collect the necessary information and interpret it correctly. Therefore, it is better to turn to specialists. Determine what the problem is in the service station, and repair it yourself. Without proper experience and equipment, you will spend a lot of time diagnosing. There are mechanical and computer diagnostics.
The general scheme for carrying out diagnostic procedures:
check the oil
check the operation of the engine at idle, the connection points of the electrical wiring and cables,
determine the error codes for the operation of control units (CU) for the gearbox and engine,
check the box on the car without movement,
check the automatic transmission in motion,
check the pressure inside the control system.
If the cause of the malfunctions is problems with the electronics, then most likely you will not need to dismantle and disassemble the automatic transmission. Diagnostics of malfunctions in this system is carried out by the control unit. It monitors the sensor signals, the gear ratio of the gearbox and the resistance of the output circuits. Malfunctions of such parts and assemblies may occur:
input sensors,
electronic control unit,
executive devices of the control system,
violation of the integrity of electrical wiring connections.
The transmission computer receives signals from various sensors. If any parameters are out of the norm, it writes the code of this problem (DTC) into memory. You can decipher such numbers using a special scanner.
These are the main problems of the automatic transmission itself. They are conditionally divided into three subgroups:
Damage to friction groups, bushings and housings, calipers, planetary gear sets, pump and other mechanics.
Transformer failure. This includes:
wire breaks,
mechanical destruction of the blades,
overrunning clutch,
wear of the main locking clutch,
depressurization of the piston seal.
Problems with the mechanics of the hydraulic plate.
If the diagnosis was successful and you can’t do without dismantling, then we proceed to this stage of automatic transmission repair.
You will need a special lift, or at least a viewing hole. As well as a transmission jack and a set of keys. It is better to carry out such a procedure in a specially equipped garage or box. It would be useful to invite a few physically strong guys to help move the removed box. Her weight is beyond the power of even a very strong person. Further action plan:
disconnect all communication tubes and cables;
unscrew the torque converter mounting bolts, as well as the motor flywheel membranes;
remove and move the gearbox;
assess the extent of the damage and proceed with the repair.
Before removing the gearbox, the oil from it can not be drained. However, then do not forget to substitute the container at the attachment point of the oil supply pipes when you disconnect them - otherwise you will get an ugly puddle under your feet.
All actions must be careful. Sudden movements can damage the splines of the diaphragm input shaft.
Do-it-yourself automatic transmission repair is best done with a company manual and a printed gearbox diagram. First you need to inspect all systems serving the gearbox, mounts and blocks. Then we start repairing. For this:
We disassemble the gearbox, wash and dry the parts and check them for defects.
We change all gaskets, seals, as well as worn parts.
Remove the inhibitor block and pan. We clean the dirt inside. It looks like a metal magnetic chip.
Remove the ring wires from the plug and push them inside the plug.
Remove the hydraulic unit, loosen the brake band bolts. We wash the hydraulic unit.
Clutches, gears and planetaries are checked for wear. We replace if there is such a need. All internal rubber bands must be changed!
We open the oil pump. We check all the details, especially the filter. We change what has already served its time. We use the manual so as not to change parts in places.
We take out the valves and springs. Flush valves. Their sticking can be the cause of incorrect operation of the automatic transmission. We change the accumulator springs if they are broken.
Putting everything back in place. It is important not to confuse anything!
Replace rings and friction bolts.
We check the gearshift assembly and the large piston and put the oil pump in place.
Assembly is in reverse order.
There are some points that it is desirable to take into account when repairing. Often the problem with the operation of the gearbox is related to the filter. It will not be possible to change it without removing the valve body. And when it is removed, the gasket breaks. To replace it, you will need to disassemble the hydraulic unit completely. The same applies to the accumulator spring from first to second gear. A special limiter does not allow to remove it without disassembling the valve body. All valve body gaskets are very similar, do not mix them up. When assembling the valve body, we tighten it with a torque wrench. It is important not to overdo it here.
If all the breakdowns are eliminated, we install the automatic transmission. The moment is responsible, haste is inappropriate here. When doing this, the following guidelines should be followed:
When installing the automatic transmission in its place, the membrane is checked for end runout using an indicator head. If such a defect occurs, then it must be replaced.
The radiator is flushed until the gasoline is clean. Then a liter of gear oil is poured into the gas turbine engine and placed on the input shaft. It is necessary to achieve a reliable connection and a complete fit. Then you need to dock the engine with the box along the guide centering pins. Carters must adjoin completely.
Tightening the bolts in the box is the next step. After that, the absence of gaps over the entire plane is checked. After connecting all the highways, the correct connections are checked.
At the final stage, oil is poured and the operation of the automatic transmission is checked at low engine speeds.
Starting the installation of the box, be sure to check for the presence of centering pins on the engine crankcase flange - there should be two of them. If there is not at least one, it is impossible to mount the automatic transmission.
Repair and diagnostics of automatic transmission with your own hands is not an easy, but feasible task. When choosing a car with an automatic transmission, novice motorists believe that its repair at home is impossible. This is not true. But before you decide to carry out such responsible work at home, you need to weigh all your options. Then you will not expect unpleasant surprises during the repair.

Repairing an automatic transmission on a Toyota car is quite problematic and takes a lot of time.As a rule, repairs are carried out by experienced specialists in service centers and service stations. But you can do the work yourself if you follow the recommendations that are given in this article.
First of all, dismantle all sensors and attachments, then remove the gearbox itself directly, disconnecting it from the power unit. Then disassemble it by removing the following bolts:
2 bolts for 17,
4 bolts for 14;
7 bolts for 12.
Also unscrew the bolts that secure the pan and filter. It is recommended to immediately check the condition of the filter, most often it is dirty.
Inspection of the filter can help to find out what exactly led to the failure of the automatic transmission. After dismantling the filter, a hydraulic logic block (it is also called brains) will open before your eyes, in which there are several valves responsible for pressure, switching and blocking.
Remove the hydraulic block. To do this, first disconnect the electrical wires from the solenoids and the 10 bolts on the head and then remove this item. After dismantling the bolts, slowly separate the plate. Remember to immediately remove the drain valve from the hydraulic coupling and the accumulator.
After that, remove the pump by screwing in the bolts. Screw in the bolts by hand until they stop and tighten evenly with the socket head. Just don't overdo it, as damage can be done.
Then do the following:
Loosen the 12 bolts that secure the pan, which are located on the side. Remove the pan itself carefully, as small elements may fall out of it;
Remove the 4th speed package that raises the row and check the condition of the bearing washer. At the same time, be more careful so that it does not fall, because you can forget exactly where the washer was located from a large number of components of the automatic transmission;
Disconnect the stoppers. This is quite problematic, so it is best to use a screwdriver, but being careful not to cause damage.
In most cases, when inspecting an automatic transmission, a damaged bushing is found, which leads to the displacement of the shafts. In addition, here it is possible to identify what caused the bearings to rotate in the inner race. All broken components must be replaced with new elements.
In the process of work, you need to be careful so that nothing falls inside the automatic transmission or on the floor.
Put all the removed components in order to make it easier to put the box back together, make sure nothing gets lost. Also, just in case, check if any parts are loose.
In some cases, when there are too many failed parts, it is better to buy another gearbox (you can install a supported one). After all, you cannot be completely sure that after the repair work, the checkpoint will function properly.
You can return this item to working condition yourself. First of all do-it-yourself automatic transmission repair toyota will save money that would have to be paid for the work of specialists.
In the absence of self-confidence, it is recommended to seek help from a service station. There, workers will quickly put the gearbox in order and save you from unnecessary worries.
But know that disassembly of automatic transmission toyota made by specialists, not always of high quality, since they often try to save on some details.
In general, all components of Toyota cars are reliable and able to last for a long time. The same goes for automatic transmissions. But after a certain period of time, it may require repair. Most often, improper operation, frequent driving in difficult conditions or rare maintenance leads to a breakdown of this unit. Therefore, it should be checked regularly for any faults.

The Toyota automobile concern is the largest in the world. Toyota cars have been holding the lead in the number of cars produced per year for many years. Toyota produces its cars not only comfortable, but also reliable. The most reliable in the world. Even with the transition of all car manufacturers to controlled wear, Toyota still holds the first place in the reliability and durability of their cars. This also applies to transmissions. Almost all automatic transmissions that are used in Toyota vehicles are manufactured by the Aisin subsidiary. Aisin transmissions do not always use the most advanced technological solutions and are not always the fastest and most economical compared to their counterparts. But they are invariably the most reliable and long-lasting, rarely competing only with ancient American designs. Often, Aisin transmissions are made so high quality and reliable that the cars themselves or even their owners are experiencing. In addition, their designs are very simple and always have a comprehensive manual with which Toyota automatic transmission repairs can be done by hand.
Toyota Camry and Highlander cars are equipped with four-speed automatic transmissions of the 140-240U family, the most massive and common gearboxes from Aisin. This automatic transmission was installed on a variety of cars: small SUVs, station wagons, crossovers, premium sedans, including Lexuses. Machines of this family are still produced, on their basis a generation of five-speed automatic transmissions U150-U250 was made, which were installed on the Camry and Highlander.
Like all transmissions on Toyota cars, the Camry automatic transmission is indestructible. However, Camry transmissions are in 4th place in the world in terms of the number of requests for repair. This is not due to the reliability of the Camry car box, but to its prevalence around the world, popularity among motorists and the reluctance of the owners to change their Corolla or Camry that has not broken for years for something else and new, but not so reliable. Camry transmissions easily work out their 5, 10 or even 20 years, but the owner wants to continue to drive these wonderful cars, so he gives them to repair, and not to a landfill.
At the first service of the Camry automatic transmission, the oil and filter are changed along with the pan gasket. From the middle of the 2000s, Camry transmissions were switched to non-replaceable oil, which, however, still costs to be changed at least once every 50 thousand kilometers. Camry automatic transmission filters of the latest generation serve up to 120 thousand kilometers.
Repair kits for oil seals and gaskets for automatic transmission Camry can be installed non-original. Camry automatic transmission clutches are changed as a whole set, but only when the machine is rebuilt, if at least one package is burned out.
Camry automatic transmission iron is very reliable, only the heaviest and most powerful cars are at risk. They may need repairs already at 200 thousand kilometers.
A common reason for contacting a Camry automatic transmission for repair is the failure of the front planetary gear set. From extreme loads, gears can break in it, gear teeth can quickly collapse. This is due to too high torque of the Camry automatic transmission in conditions of insufficient oil. Owners of Camry automatic transmissions with three-liter engines should protect the car from aggressive acceleration and slipping off-road or in winter.
The main symptom of the destruction of the planetary gear set are traces of metal filings and crumbs in the oil pan of the Camry automatic transmission. If you do not change it in time, a chain reaction will start in the box and other automatic transmission mechanisms will also suffer.
The sun gear and bearings usually follow, followed by the ring gear and rear planetary gear.
The rear cover of the Camry automatic transmission is a weak point in the design of this box. On powerful cars, it breaks from a jammed Teflon ring.Camry automatic transmission oil pressure is lost and the forward clutches begin to slip. Flexural stress from aggressive driving with dirty oil at maximum torque will abrade the Teflon layer of the O-ring. For powerful cars, it is necessary to change the oil more often and monitor the condition of the torque converter.
Friction clutches and steel discs of 3-4 gears fail a little less often. They are the first to suffer from oil starvation.
Pistons fail only during overheating and dry operation; they are quite resistant to the effect of the Russian winter on their rubber coating.
From time to time, the sleeve, cuff and oil pump seal fail. They should be replaced with every repair.
The electrics of this automatic transmission are quite reliable, but in the early years there is a “childhood illness” - the contacts of the control unit were poorly soldered and the electrics sometimes “buggy”.
In addition to Toyota, these transmissions have also become widespread on Lexus. Toyota Harrier automatic transmission repair is no different from the Lexus RX 300.

Toyota Chayzer was equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission of the A40D series from Aisin. This series of automatic transmissions has been produced since 1981 and, after a number of modifications, is still being produced. This box is another example of an indestructible, eternal and simple transmission. The service life of the automatic transmission Chayzer does not end at 500-700 thousand kilometers.
Usually Chayzer automatic transmissions do not suffer from design flaws, but from fatigue and old age. Drivers drive these cars for 5 and 10 years before the first obvious symptoms of the need for repairs.
A typical case of Chayser automatic transmission repair is a worn torque converter lock-up clutch. The worn-out friction clutch of the automatic transmission Chayzer does not cause discomfort at first, only after a considerable time, vibrations and breakdowns of other mechanisms of the box will fall, which begin with a pump and leaks.
Worn clutch packs are also a frequent case in the diagnosis of automatic transmission Chaizer at high mileage. Well, it's just that they are not eternal and constantly work with friction.
Rubber seals, rings, piston coatings of automatic transmission Chayzer tan and crack over time, allowing oil to flow out of the box, which leads to oil starvation, overheating and increased wear of box components. For trouble-free operation of the transmission, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the oil and its level, and, if necessary, change it yourself.
The simplest solution is the overhaul of the automatic transmission Chayzer. After them, boxes go a lot more. With any repair, friction clutches, brake pads, gaskets, seals and o-rings are changed. The filter is reusable and can travel an impressive 250,000 kilometers.
If one package of Chayzer automatic transmission clutches burned out and the car drove on burnt oil, it is better to change the entire set. Moreover, some packages for automatic transmission Chayzer are reinforced, with a significantly larger margin of safety.
The boxes of this series are so simple and understandable that the owners often do their own repairs.
Toyota Land Cruiser in the 80th body was equipped with one of the most famous "eternal" four-speed automatic transmission AW 30-40 LE. Aisin's AW 30-40 LE transmission was used on rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles up to 4 liters. The margin of safety of the transmission of the 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in the 80 body is simply monstrous. Some cars from the late eighties are still driving, although they have never been repaired in their lives. And this is an automatic transmission for SUVs. Subsequently, automatic transmissions for Lexus with more powerful engines developed from this transmission. For SUVs, it is considered the most successful transmission due to its simplicity, reliability and balance. In addition to Toyota, Premio was installed on Jim, Montero, Terakan, Volvo and a huge number of cars from Asia and the third world. It is often said about this box that it will travel much longer than the car itself. Selling this transmission is very difficult - they do not break and are rarely needed.
And although the stock of automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body greatly exceeds most of all machines, it can still fail.
Problems arise with an automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in an 80 body traditionally due to dirty oil, its low level, overheating of the automatic transmission and testing the box in extreme conditions.
In case of failure of one package of clutches for automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body, they are replaced by sets. Repair kits for oil seals and gaskets for automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body may differ for different car families, they can be ordered non-original. Owners often pick up a MasterKit and get a box that will go the same distance. Filters with a metal mesh automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body, not disposable, can be washed. With automatic transmission clutches 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body, it is also necessary to change the brake band. The repair kit can be installed with your own hands.
Usually, automatic transmissions 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 body with an extreme degree of torque converter wear are included in the repair.
Over time, the bushings of the automatic transmission 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in the 80th body lose their tightness, leading to oil leakage, they are changed as a set.
The electrics are very simple and reliable. Automatic transmission solenoids 30-40 LE Land Cruiser in 80 bodywork last more than 15 years (!).
In addition to SUVs, these transmissions have been used with success in a range of vehicles ranging from medium-sized sedans like the Toyota Premium to high-performance racing cars with turbo engines and terrible torques.
Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission
Toyota Rav4 cars were equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission 540E manufactured by Aisin. It was created for Toyota and Lexus front- and all-wheel drive vehicles with engines up to 3 liters. Like the vast majority of Toyota transmissions, this automatic transmission is deservedly called "legendary and indestructible." Despite the fact that this box has been put on cars since 1985, very few statistics on repair cases have been collected for it. This is due to the fact that the Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission easily outlived the car itself, if the owner followed the oil, of course.
Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission filter is reusable, serves up to 250 thousand mileage, earlier it changes only when the torque converter clutch is destroyed. After abrasion of the Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission clutch, all the insides of the automatic transmission are clogged with remains, there is not enough pressure in the packages, other clutches are burning, the pump is leaking. But the Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission goes on for a long time without showing serious symptoms.
Timely prevention of the Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission torque converter, changing the oil, bushings, cleaning the valve body, overhaul with the replacement of sealing elements will allow this box to "jump" over a million kilometers. In general, even if the owner has just purchased a car with this box, which is ten or twenty years old, he is more likely to get tired of driving this car than the machine will break. This transmission was installed on the Toyota Camry for nine years without any changes.
When operating a Toyota Rav4 automatic transmission, it is worth monitoring the condition and oil level. If the oil begins to foam, then the oil filter is clogged and should be changed as soon as possible. Oil requires replacement every 80 thousand kilometers. Oil for Rav4 should only be used original - a box is set up for it and because of its good properties, “painless” clutch slippage is possible. Do-it-yourself repair of the Toyota Rav 4 automatic transmission due to the simplicity of the design is quite possible.
Toyota Corolla cars were equipped with four-speed A240 series automatics from Aisin. They have been produced since 1985 and are still installed on cars, after a number of modifications and improvements.
DON'T SPEND MONEY ON REPAINTS! Now you can remove any scratch from the body of your car in just 5 seconds.
Unlike most manufacturers, Aisin specialists only improved and strengthened this transmission, without creating new weaknesses in it, and did not use technological solutions that shorten the life of this transmission.
Perhaps this is the most reliable series of automatic transmissions in the entire history of Toyota and its subsidiary Aisin. Toyota Corolla is not in vain considered an eternal machine. On the territory of Russia, it’s easy enough to find a 93-year-old Toyota Corolla, which still drives and is quite “alive” in technical terms.
The technical manual for these automatic transmissions recommends filling in only original oil. If you monitor the level and condition of the oil, Corolla car transmission repair is unlikely to be needed at all.
Automatic transmissions from Aisin have always been distinguished by their simplicity, traditional design and “understandability” for service station specialists. For each box, you can find a comprehensive manual that will allow you to repair the transmission yourself. Do-it-yourself transmission repair will require a warm box with a pit or lift and the proper tools. If, of course, you ever need it.

The complexity of an automatic transmission can be compared to the engine of a modern car. Probably, in the first place you can put the engine, in terms of complexity, the second machine - the box. Therefore, those car owners who are not confident in their abilities to repair the box, I would like to advise you to contact car services specializing in this type of repair. Not every car service will take up the repair of an automatic transmission.
But the most important thing when repairing a gearbox is an automatic, it is not to disassemble it and assemble it, but to determine the faulty part. Disassembly of the same automatic transmission begins with the dismantling of all sensors and attachments. Next, the box itself is removed, disconnected from the engine.
The box itself is being disassembled. The bolts securing the pan and then the filter are unscrewed. You should immediately pay attention to the condition of the filter, this may help determine a possible malfunction of the box. The filter is followed by
hydraulic logic unit, or else it is called "brains". We dismantle the "brains", having previously disconnected the electrical wires from the solenoids.
When disassembling, you must be very careful not to drop anything inside the box or on the floor. All parts dismantled must lie in order, in which then you will need to assemble the box back.
