In detail: audi 100 45 do-it-yourself repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
The Audi 100 car belongs to the middle class and has an all-metal load-bearing body such as a sedan or station wagon.
A whole range of four- and five-cylinder gasoline engines is installed on cars from a 1.8-liter 100 hp. up to a 2.23-liter turbocharged 200 hp
In addition to gasoline engines, there is a family of diesel engines for the Audi 100.
The car is equipped with four- and five-speed gearboxes or an automatic three-speed.
The base model of the car has a front-wheel drive layout, but there is also a modification with all-wheel drive.
Steering - rack and pinion, there are modifications with power steering.
The brake system is dual-circuit with hydraulic drive, the front brakes are disc, the rear brakes can be drum or disc (depending on engine power). Depending on the equipment, the car may be equipped with ABS (anti-lock braking system). All modifications have an amplifier installed in the brake system.
The car has a safety steering column, some cars (depending on the configuration) are equipped with an airbag for the driver.
The car has an exceptional body in terms of aerodynamics (for a sedan, the coefficient Cx=0.3, for a station wagon Cx=0.34). This was achieved thanks to the smooth contours of the body, without sharp transitions, the large slope of the windshield and rear windows, as well as the original design of the side windows. The side windows are mounted on the door frames from the outside, flush with the body pillars. This design was the first in the world to be applied on a production car.

Much attention in the development of the body was given to corrosion resistance. The parts most susceptible to corrosion are made of zinc-metal; non-load-bearing parts are made of plastic.
The Audi 100 series began to be assembled in the late 60s. Currently, the Germans have abandoned this name in favor of the more well-known A6 nomenclature today.
The latest generation of "hundreds" debuted on the market in 1991. At the same time, a sports version of the model appeared, designated by the S4 symbol, under the hood of which gasoline engines were installed - a 2.2-liter R5 or a 4.2-liter V8.
In 1994, the Audi 100 C4 was redesigned. The car received slightly modified headlights, taillights, new mirrors and bumpers. The interior has also been updated a bit.
Along with restyling, a new designation was also introduced: the name "100" was replaced by A6, and the sports modification instead of S4 received the S6 index. Production of the Audi 100 / A6 C4 ended in 1997, when the more modern, more technological and more attractive Audi A6 C5 was released.
2.2 R5 Turbo (230 hp) S4 and S6 versions;
4.2 V8 (280-290 hp) S4 and S6 versions;
4.2 V8 (326 hp) S6 Plus version;
Even two decades ago, Audi made sure that the choice of engines for the A6 was as wide as possible. Many people, having decided to buy, cannot decide which of the motors suits them best.
You should not pay attention to 4-cylinder engines, with the exception of the 140-horsepower version of the 2-liter unit. They are very weak and therefore forced to consume too much fuel.
Engines with a displacement of 2.0 liters and a power of 140 hp are considered the most optimal. and 2.3 L R5. The V6 and V8 are an option for true A6 fans who don't care about high fuel consumption or high maintenance costs.
Regardless of which engine you choose, you will have to put up with possible malfunctions. Still, the car has been around for many years.
What is failing? Most often ignition coils and a flow meter. Timing belts are also unstable, which do not withstand the time allotted by the manufacturer. The optimal replacement interval is 60,000 km.You should also pay attention to the valve cover - oil leaks often occur from under it.
In addition to gasoline engines, the Audi 100 also received diesel units. Compared to modern diesel engines, their durability can be called "eternal". The 2.4-liter unit creates the least problems, slightly worse than 2.5 and 1.9 TDI.
If you want the most dynamic option, then you can safely choose the top 140-horsepower 2.5 TDI (not to be confused with the unreliable later-generation 2.5 TDI V6 engine).
For such a large car, the 2.5TDI is best suited. The rest are just not strong enough. Malfunctions are most often associated with advanced age and relate to: the injection system (pump and injectors), turbocharger, and flow meter.
Depending on the type of drive, the Audi 100 can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Gearboxes: 5 or 6-speed manual, as well as 4 or 5-speed "automatic".
The suspension is a classic scheme - in front of the MacPherson strut, and in the back - a torsion beam. All-wheel drive versions on the rear axle are equipped with multi-link suspension.
Reliability and high quality have always been the strength of the Audi 100 / A6, for which motorists have fallen in love with this model. Despite the age of the A6, the C4 holds up quite well, but is not without flaws.
Often fails the steering mechanism. With age, gaps appear, and the rail begins to knock. The hydraulic booster pump is also available.
The starter and alternator do not differ in endurance. But competitors in this respect are no better. A thorough check of the condition of the cooling system is necessary.
In the event of its failure, the cost of repairing the engine is inevitable. In versions with the Quattro all-wheel drive system, higher repair costs for the rear suspension must be taken into account.
Elements such as the air conditioning compressor, power windows, sunroof opening mechanism, thermostat, various relays, temperature sensor and parking brake mechanism are often capricious.
What conclusions can be drawn.
The Audi 100 / A6 C4 is an almost perfect German car that, despite the years, not only looks good, but is also quite reliable.
A big plus is the availability of inexpensive spare parts and the rich equipment of young specimens. Special praise deserves a wide range of engines and suspension settings.
But there are also disadvantages . V6 and V8 engines require astronomical fuel costs. Fortunately, finding a copy in decent condition is not too difficult a task.
Below will be presented articles that were posted on the network by car enthusiasts of the Audi 100 and Audi A6 C4 body, where motorists encountered certain problems during the operation of Avdotya and managed to fix their iron friend on their own.
This article will discuss how to remove the auxiliary drive belt for Audi 100, A6 C4 body and engine size 2.6 gasoline.
I will make a reservation right away that we will do all the work without draining the coolant, disassembling the front of the car and completely removing the timing belt.

"Sotka" Audi in the 45th body is a truly legendary car, and at one time it was very popular in Russia. But the years take their toll, and since these machines are no longer new, they are increasingly in need of repair.
Often the owners of cars make tuning the Audi 100 C4 with their own hands: tuning the body, headlights, interior. Aesthetic design makes the car attractive, more valuable to the people around and the car owners themselves.
For the first time, the Audi 100 car model appeared on the world automotive market in 1968. In total, over the years of production, four generations of “hundreds” were created, and since 1985, the German company began to produce cars with a fully galvanized body. The Audi 100 with the C3 index was produced from 1982 to 1991, this model is still popular in Russia, but lately it has been increasingly seen as a retro option. The last, 4th generation of the Audi 100 C4 in the back of 45 existed on the assembly line until 1994, then it was replaced by the A6 series cars. Quite a lot of Audi 100/44 cars were brought to Russia in the mid-nineties and early 2000s, due to the elongated body, the model was often called “herring” or “cigar”. But "Sotka" in the forty-fifth body was called "Barrel", however, like the Audi 80 B3 and B4.
Car tuning is its improvement in many directions:
- giving the car an original appearance;
- improvement of technical characteristics - increase in engine power, increase in ground clearance, decrease in fuel consumption;
- change in the interior.
All tuning is divided into three main categories - external, internal and technical, it is the first and second types of tuning for the Audi 100 that this article will mainly discuss.
To make the "Sotka" in the 45th body look original and attractive, car owners tune the car:
- install tuning bumpers and a special body kit;
- paint a car in unusual colors - in non-standard metallic colors, with the use of airbrushing, in a matte color;
- cover the body parts with vinyl film.
Other external tuning includes:
- installation of expensive side mirrors, for example, from the Audi A6 S6 (folding, chrome);
- installation of a spoiler on the trunk lid;
- modernization of the radiator grille;
- improvement of optics;
- the use of cast or forged wheels instead of standard steel.
Specialized stores sell various tuning elements for Audi 100 45 and 100 44 cars:
- side wide door moldings ("foliage")
- universal narrow moldings;
- spoilers on the trunk lid;
- plastic door sills;
- front and rear chrome optics with LEDs, headlights with lenses;
- tuned bumpers.
In car dealerships, various goods are available, you can also order the necessary spare parts from the catalog, a wide range of parts for tuning the suspension is presented. With the help of tuned elements, you can “dress up” the car to your liking, but here you need to count on the money - some spare parts are quite expensive. For example, chrome-plated headlights with turn signals and black LEDs cost about 30 thousand rubles each.
The simplest modernization of “native” optics is to replace the headlights and taillights with tuning elements, but spare parts are not cheap, so car owners often do their own tuning, making changes to the optics.
Recently, daytime running lights have become relevant, they are often mounted directly in the headlights in the form of an LED strip. Often the LEDs are located on top, in which case the daytime low beam turns out to be bright, brighter than conventional lighting.
On the Audi 100 45, headlight tuning is usually done in a slightly different way, LED strips are placed below the lenses. To install the LEDs, it is required to remove the glass, the tapes are glued with transparent epoxy glue.
Also, many car owners insert lenses from other cars into their headlight housing, for example, from Chery Tigo-2. You can install the lens as follows:
- disassemble the headlight;
- make 4 holes in the reflector;
- install the lens on long bolts with nuts, using brass bushings as gaskets.
Another type of tuning on Audi 100 cars is the installation of fog lights (PTF), they are far from always included in the car. There are optics that are specially designed for installation on the Sniper tuning bumper, but if there is no regular place for mounting, you can make holes in the bumper for fog lights yourself.
Interior tuning always starts with the seats. This is not surprising, since on a used car, the seats break down and lose their appearance in the first place, especially the front seats. As an option, you can restore the native seats, the chair itself is quite comfortable. But if welding the core does not help, it is better to change the “seats”.
With almost no alterations, the front seats from the Audi 100 44 or 200, Audi A6 in the 45th body are installed in the car, but it is not so easy to find them in good condition. There are firms that produce sports-type seats for many car models, they are already adapted for fastenings. Among the manufacturers here it is worth noting the companies:
The cost of one sports seat ranges from 9 to 28 thousand rubles, the chairs look very impressive.
Also, the seats can be sheathed with any material, as upholstery is used:
- alcantara;
- velours;
- flock;
- suede;
- various leather substitutes;
- Genuine Leather.
Of course, a leather interior is cool, but the cost of custom-made hauling will be rather big. In order to sheathe the interior with leather on your own, you need sufficient experience in sewing, and you cannot do without a good sewing machine.
The instrument panel is also often tuned, it can also be sheathed with material, additionally decorated with natural wood inserts.Also, the “torpedo” is pasted over with an artificial film imitating natural materials (under wood).
On the "Sotka" in the 45th body, you can upgrade the instrument panel, change the ordinary short dashboard to a long, newer model. In the new dashboard, three dial gauges are located on the right, they show:
- current strength;
- voltage;
- oil temperature.
Chrome-plated rings are installed around the circumference of the pointers, the LED backlight of the shield looks very nice.
The illumination of the pedal assembly, as well as parts of the space under the instrument panel on the passenger side, looks original. Some car owners change a simple radio tape recorder to a “two-din” one - such audio equipment sounds better than the standard one, and besides, it looks very nice. Another rather important point is the replacement of the “native” steering wheel with a more comfortable and aesthetic one. Instead of a regular steering wheel, some car owners install a steering wheel from the Audi A6 C5 model (1997-2004). The steering wheel fits one to one along the slots, it looks very good.
There are other types of tuning that the interior undergoes:
- a hatch crashes into the roof;
- tinted windows are installed (if tinting was not provided before);
- an armrest is mounted between the front seats;
- speakers change to more powerful ones;
- blackout curtains are placed on the rear windows;
- changing the carpet on the floor;
- the ceiling is sheathed with new material.
Although the Audi 100 C3 is an older model, it is also being upgraded. Spectacular appearance of the car is given by tuning bumpers, and if the car body is painted in a dark color, tinted rear lights and fully tinted rear windows look good on it.
Tuning the Audi 100 44 body is often subjected to, due to the galvanized body, many cars are well preserved. But more often on the "Cigar" (as the "forty-four" is also called), the chassis, power unit and transmission are improved - a more powerful engine and a different gearbox are installed.
Very often, a problem on a 5-cylinder engine occurs due to the failure of JETRONIK mechanical injection parts - the system is very capricious and complex, not everyone can figure it out. The most painful place here is the dispenser, and the main reason for failures is low-quality Russian gasoline.
It is very expensive to buy new parts for mechanical injection; such spare parts are rarely found at disassembly. The easiest option is to install an ordinary carburetor from a Russian car instead of the KE III JETRONIK, but in this case you will also have to purchase an intake manifold. Of course, the engine thrust disappears, but it's better for the car to drive than it stands idle.
If the seat on the cigar is still strong, and the upholstery has already worn out in places, it is not necessary to completely change the lining, you can install beautiful covers on the “seats”.
Recently, the use of such material as eco-leather (arigon) has become fashionable, it is often used due to its remarkable properties:- outwardly very similar to genuine leather;
- has high wear resistance;
- does not crack in the cold;

A set of seat covers costs about 5 thousand rubles, which is much cheaper than covering the entire cabin. The covers look solid, with them the interior of the car is immediately transformed.

Inexpensive parts are removed from a used Ingolstadt during disassembly. Dismantling is a unique and super-efficient opportunity for many Russian car owners.
As a rule, disassembly is the lot of special organizations specializing in this matter. Dismantling is a real business, giving its organizers a chance to make good money, and the owners of the "German" to get original parts at a low price.
Dismantling the Audi 100 implies a couple of features. I would like to acquaint the reader with them, but first, let's study this car in more detail.
The Audi 100 is a family of business class passenger cars produced by the Ingolstadt automaker since 1968. All modifications of the car are similar to each other mainly in their technical stuffing. The fact is that all Audi 100 models have retained the basic principles inherent in the car from the very beginning.
Note. In particular, all modifications numbered 100 are endowed with a front-wheel drive layout, and the power plant is located longitudinally.
On the territory of the former USSR, the Audi 100 model is widely known. The fact is that cars of this family were imported into our country in huge quantities, but were mostly used.
The design of cars of the Ingolstadt auto concern under this number is distinguished by a rather strong and durable body. The advantage of the Ingolstadt body is the degree of galvanization of the metal. This is so well done that the Audi 100 family has virtually no rust through, at least for the first 10 years after release.
Note. It is this fact that explains, to some extent, such a large number of foreign cars of this manufacturer on the Russian market. The release of the Ingolstadt 100 was discontinued in 1994, but many models still run around the expanses of our country and neighboring countries in excellent body condition.
The Audi 100 family has several body modifications:
- 4-door sedan, first introduced in 1968;
- 2-door sedan, released in 1969;
- Audi coupe - in 1970.
The Audi 100 was also available in station wagon and hatchback body styles.
The Ingolstadt autocar changed over the years, the exterior became different, the car was also transformed technically (as mentioned, the main basic features remained unchanged). The last generation of the "Ingolstadt" at number 100 is the model in the back of 45. The modification was produced from 1990 to 1994. Audi 45 is rightfully called one of the best cars of its time.
Maybe because of the advantages of this car, they began to produce it in huge quantities. So, about 600 thousand copies rolled off the assembly line.
Note. Since 1995, the “Lord of the Rings” in the back of the 45 has been called the Audi 6.
It will be interesting to know that Audi has always been, as it were, in the shadow of both of its eternal rivals - Mercedes-Benz and BMW. By releasing the model in 45 body, Audi solved its problems in the competition masterfully. Even experts from Munich and Stuttgart cannot praise this car, and at one time, they even tried to transfer design features to their production.
Here are the features of the 45 body:
- Its dimensions are so good that 5 riders can easily fit in the cabin;
- The driver's seat is adjustable with great convenience;
- The luggage compartment of the sedan holds 510 liters, which is a very good indicator for this type of body. But the station wagon in the same 45 body is unable to boast of good trunk dimensions - only 1310 liters;
- The body is galvanized, the warranty on the paintwork is 3 years.
Another Ingolstadt model that is practically indestructible on Russian roads is the version with a 44 body. And inexpensive maintenance made this car super popular among our compatriots.
This model began to be produced from 1982 to 1991. Here are her strengths:
- Excellent stability on the tracks;
- Excellent maneuverability in the city;
- High tech. specifications;
- Undeniable reliability of the power plant.
Many people call the Audi 100 in the back of 44 a comfortable and super economical car option, ideal for a family of several people. The Ingolstadt autocar in the back of 44 easily “plows” more than 1 thousand km.
Body 44, like 45, is made of galvanized metal. Due to this, the occurrence of corrosion is prevented, the service life of the machine as a whole is increased by ten years.
It is noteworthy that the characteristics of the qualities of Audi were valuable not only in Russia and neighboring countries, but also in the West.
44 was originally made to move at high speeds for a long time. Thanks to this, it was possible to create a roomy car with AED properties.
Dismantling the Audi 100 45 will provide an opportunity to get various body panels at an affordable cost. Hatches of this body, bumpers, fenders, mirrors and so on are in great demand today.
The main body parts that are being replaced by an Audi hundred are, of course, bumpers. After you buy new or completely reliable bumpers from auto-disassembly, you will have to put them on the car, removing the old one first. Let's find out how to do it.
The front bumper from the Ingolstadt 100 C4 is removed as follows:
- First, the protection of the power plant and the lower inserts of the radiator grill are dismantled;
- Then you should find the bolts on the side of the grille of the old bumper and unscrew them;
- Then you need to open the hood and unscrew the panels under the headlights.
Advice. If the headlight washer is installed on the Audi, then you need to remove the nozzles and the tube panel.
- Now the bolts under the headlights are unscrewed.
Note. If the Ingolstadt model is manufactured before 1992, then the screw located in the wheel arch should also be unscrewed.
It remains only to take the sidewalls of the bumper to the side, and then dismantle the bumper by moving the body part forward.
Installation of the bumper is carried out, as well as disassembly, only in the reverse order.
Wings are no less in demand today. To competently dismantle them from the Audi 100, you will first have to dismantle the front buffer and locar:
- The decorative trim on the bumper is removed by hooking a screwdriver;
- Then the bolts are turned out, the lining is removed;
- To remove the locar, it will be necessary to loosen the bolts that fix the wheel;
- The car should be raised on a support (front);
- The wheel is removed, and then the fixing elements of the locker are turned out;
- To finally remove the locar, you need to unscrew the two plastic fastening nuts.
After the locar and buffer are dismantled, the following is done:
- The front wing lining is dismantled;
- The turn signal is removed;
- The screws fixing the wing turn out;
- The door opens and then the wing screw located just above the door hinge is turned out;
- From below, the wing is also held by screws, which also need to be unscrewed;
- Now you should unscrew the screw that secures the wing bracket to the A-pillar.
Thus, it will be easy to remove and replace the wing.
A couple of recommendations before installing a new wing:
- The surfaces of the body and wing, which will be in contact with each other, must be thoroughly cleaned and then smeared with sealant.
- The wing should be wrapped with new bolts (first it is attached from above, and only then the remaining screws are placed).
- Care must be taken not to skip the installation of washers on the bolts. It is necessary!
It would seem that it could be easier to parse the side mirror? On the Audi 100, this process can cause a lot of problems if the owner does not understand the intricacies of the operation. Let's find out how to do it, especially since this part often requires disassembly and replacement.
Step-by-step instructions for dismantling the side mirror involves the following steps:
- First of all, it is recommended to use the adjustments to bring the mirror all the way up and to the side;
- Then you need to get to the bolts that fix the side mirror. To do this, disassemble the plastic cover that covers the mirror (if you pull the cover towards you and then push it up, it can be easily removed).
Advice. You must be extremely careful at this stage, as you can easily break off the cover guide if you act carelessly.
After access to the bolts is provided, the following is done:
- First, the hexagon mount is turned out, and then the bolt that is under the screwdriver (naturally, the bolts are unscrewed from the passenger compartment);
- The mirror no longer holds anything. The door glass is lowered to the end, the part is pulled up.
The most difficult stage of work with the "German" side mirror is the removal of the part from the latches. But, if you use any flat object, such as a trowel, for example, then you can do everything in the best possible way:
- The trowel is wrapped in cloth so as not to scratch anything;
- Then the object is threaded into the gap between the mirror and the part;
- Now you have to push down so that the mirror is released from the latches.
It remains to unfasten the latches, and disconnect the terminals from the heating.
To continue disassembly further, you will have to unscrew all the mounting bolts. This will make it possible to easily remove the metal skeleton. Just before that, the mirror adjustment mechanism itself will need to be unsoldered, and the location of the wiring should be remembered, because it is different on the left and right mirrors.
