Cleaning a garage, a warehouse, cleaning a car, and even your own summer cottage, become simple and easy if you purchase special equipment for this - a high-pressure washer. It is difficult to imagine a car service without a car wash; it can also be used to wash concrete mixers, pipes and other equipment well. Everyone knows how convenient high pressure washers are for farmers - cleaning stables and agricultural machinery turns into a quick procedure that even a beginner can master.
The cost of the fixture varies from 4,000 to 20,000 rubles, depending on the material used in the manufacture of the body and other important parts of the instrument. Experts note the excellent quality of brass products, the pistons of which are made of cermet. The right choice of pressure washer is not complete without due attention to the included nozzles, it is good if this includes the following components:
In order for the high pressure washer to show a long service life, use a water filter that will protect the internal structure of the hoses from contaminated fluid flow. At the end of the work, each time you need to drain the unused water from the equipment and release the pressure.
Such preventive measures will protect the equipment from sudden breakdown, but this does not mean at all that there will not be a situation when a full repair of the device is required. You can make it yourself, for this you just need to know some of the subtleties of modifying the instance.
The main malfunction, which may appear after several years of active operation of the equipment, is the bearing, which serves as a support for the swash plate that presses the valve.
In this case, do-it-yourself repair of the Karcher sink bearing is the following sequence of manipulations:
Video instructions for eliminating possible breakdowns of Karcher equipment can be viewed below:
Before determining the method of how to repair a sink with your own hands, it is necessary to determine the exact cause of the breakdown. The list of major faults includes:
So that you do not have to deal with the listed malfunctions in the operation of the "Calm" and "Champion" sinks, you should follow the important rules and requirements:
Repairing a sink with your own hands is, of course, a useful and developing business, but it’s better to never encounter this need. The right choice of a quality installation will help to avoid unexpected and premature breakdowns. On this issue, experts give several practical recommendations:
Finally, it is worth noting that Interskol is highly productive, but, despite this, it costs moderately, which is very pleasing to people who are short of money or who do not want to spend a lot on high-pressure washing.
Karcher is a high-quality equipment for professional cleaning or household cleaning.
But even high-quality equipment can fail with constant or improper use. In the article we will talk about the principle of operation of devices, weak points of equipment, main breakdowns and their causes, so that in the event of a collision with any of them, you can know what to do.
Even though Karcher sinks are leaders in their industry, they also fail. If one day the Karcher washing does not turn on, there is no need to panic, in most cases the problem is not serious and can be easily fixed. Some of the most common reasons why the washer may not turn on include:
In 90% of cases, if the Karcher does not turn on, the reason is the valve sticking. Usually this problem occurs due to the fact that it is through the valve that detergents pass. As a result, it stops responding to switching on.
You can repair the system yourself, if you have basic technical skills and skills in working with electrical equipment. The sticking of the valve may be due to the constant passage of detergents through it, which are fed through the plastic nipple.
To fix the problem, you need to disassemble the sink body. This will require a screwdriver, hexagons and sprockets, you can also use a screwdriver to make the process go faster.Be sure to check that there is no water inside the sink and unplug it from the mains.
First you need to disassemble the case, then remove the clamp that secures the motor. The valve we are interested in is hidden under a plastic nipple, but you won’t be able to get it, you can only check the valve stroke. To remove the valve itself, you need to open 4 hexagons on the body, disconnect it, remove the electric block and separate the lower part. You will see a valve tip that presses on the end of the circuit disconnection, which is why the washer does not turn on.
Now you need to clean its seat, wipe it with grease, and if the spring is bent, unbend it. However, if you do not have technical skills, it is better to contact the service center.
To reduce the risk of such a problem in the future, you should buy a foam nozzle - foam is much lighter than a viscous detergent.

To understand what exactly broke down and why the sink stopped working, you need to understand the principle of Karcher's work. The operation of this car wash is based on high-pressure technology, water is supplied under pressure, such a device allows you to cope with any pollution as quickly as possible and with low labor costs, you can use it to wash your car or tidy up the area.
The design of this apparatus is based on a powerful synchronous electric motor, its power can reach 3 kW. The motor rotates, touching the swash plate mounted on the shaft. At the same time, the plungers come into contact with the washer, making translational movements, and when the plunger moves to the lowest point, water is supplied through the inlet valve. And when the plunger moves up, overpressure is created and the high pressure outlet valve opens.
Modern models of Karcher sinks are equipped with water-cooled electric motors, which allows you to increase the life of the engine and prevent it from overheating during operation. Accordingly, the sink can work longer without interruption, which means that its productivity also increases.
In German-made household mini-sinks, plastic or aluminum valves are usually installed, which makes the device cheaper, but reduces the functionality of the device. Sinks with plastic or aluminum valves cannot work for a long time without overheating, they often require recharging. The average non-stop run time for these devices is 60 minutes.
Professional high-pressure cleaners use a brass or stainless steel pump block. Accordingly, the operating time without interruption for this sink will increase. Some professional-type models are able to work several shifts without interruption.
In order for mini-sinks to break less often, it is necessary to operate them correctly - the device should not be left for long breaks with high pressure in the system. This will create an additional load and lead to premature wear of the elements. It is also recommended to use an automatic shutdown device - it is installed in all modern car washes and allows you to save up to 20% of electricity.
Speaking about the safe operation of the sink, you also need to figure out what kind of oil to fill in Karcher. In order for the sink to work stably and without interruption, as well as to prevent its premature failure, it is recommended to use only high-quality oil. It, like fuel, affects the service life of the sink and the result in the process of generator operation. During the manufacture, the manufacturer independently fills in the necessary oil and usually no replacement is required - the amount of oil is enough for the entire life of the mini-washer. If we are talking about a household model, then really factory refueling should be enough. But when using professional sinks, the need for an oil change sometimes arises.
Depending on the design features of the model, lubricating oil can be poured both separately, into a special reservoir, and together with fuel when refueling. Be sure to take into account the viscosity of the oil and its marking. Viscosity indicates the season in which the oil can be used. There are winter, summer and universal varieties, such as SW-20, 10W-40, 10W-50, 3W-30 and many others can be attributed to the universal ones. In winter, the oil viscosity should be 0-20W, and in summer - more than 20W.
You can use multi-purpose oils like CD or SG, they are suitable for any season, for any type of fuel. Otherwise, for generators running on diesel fuel, oils marked S should be used.
The sink began to work intermittently and there is no pressure. What to do? How to fix a Karcher sink with your own hands?
The reason you described may lie in the incorrect operation of the water pump. In order to eliminate it, you need to: first of all, turn off the power supply, then remove the plastic casing (case) and get close to the pump itself. The pump should be removed and disassembled in detail, only in this way you can determine the cause. Wear of sealing rings and much more visually immediately after disassembly, all defects are clearly visible. Often, solid particles enter the water, which can disrupt the operation of the pump. When the pump is disassembled
when all the parts are removed, they must be put in warm water with citric acid so that all the old grease is removed. Then wipe everything thoroughly and inspect each part for defects and replace.
You write about the fact that there is no pressure, most likely the reason is in this bypass valve
But I’ll emphasize right away that there are quite a few models of Karcher high-pressure washers, there are even more reasons for breakdowns, because the technique is quite complicated.
Correct diagnosis is 90% of success in repair.
The valve about which I wrote above can stick, the reason is dirt.
Sometimes it’s enough just to rinse, clean and lubricate it, it’s a collapsible unit, it’s better to take branded Karcher grease, in our case we need silicone grease.
We remove the casing (usually it is 8 bolts), we put the device lying up with the wheels.
Next, remove the pipe (plastic), here you need a hex key, it rests on three bolts.
We take out the valve itself with pliers.
Inspected, wiped, want to disassemble into components.
They lubricated, assembled the sink in reverse order and launched it.
If everything is in order, it means that they managed with small forces (investments), if not, we change the valve to a new one.
When reassembling, check the strainer, it is located in the nozzle (see above), the grids may be torn due to this, dirt gets on the valve.
The filter is only cleaned, it is not repaired, if it is torn, we buy a new one and change it.
If there are interruptions in work in Karcher, as you correctly noticed, this may occur due to pressure loss, then the water supply stops until the device reaches the required pressure and so on constantly.
There may be several reasons, at least two.
You should not immediately climb into the water pump, first you need to look at the contamination of the filter and the water supply system in general, it is quite possible that there is simply no water access.
If everything is normal with contamination, or rather, everything is clean, then check the tightness of the system, it is likely that the pressure is released due to water leakage from the system, perhaps the hose just cracked or the cuff is leaking.
If the first two inspections did not reveal anything, then the water pump is diagnosed and repaired.
Correctly called it - a pump.
I personally recommend installing a new pump assembly, due to the fact that in the old one there may be a development and replacement of the repair kit will not work.
Yes, and for the price there is not much difference, so the pump costs from 2000 to 5000 rudders, if assembled, and repair kits from 1000 to 4000 rubles.
To select a pump, you need to know the Karcher model, and in some cases, what it looks like.
Here is an example of replacing a pump for a karcher k 4.75 model

Do-it-yourself Karcher car wash repair

One of the most common models of Karcher car washes that are found in private use is Karcher 5.20. The machine is reliable, productive and relatively inexpensive. But the eminent German Karcher units are also prone to breakdowns.
I will consider the option of self-repairing the Karcher 5.20 car wash with one of the breakdowns that I had. Its essence lies in the fact that after about 2 years of operation, the sink suddenly stopped producing the pressure it was supposed to, the pump began to work intermittently and, accordingly, the pressure of the jet became intermittent.
Considering that, for objective reasons, the warranty repair of the device was excluded, I had to experiment and carry out repairs with my own hands in the garage.
I will try to describe the process in the form of a photo instruction:
We remove the case (assembled on bolts and disassembled with a screwdriver),
We get the motor with the pump,
We separate the pump from the motor (this must be done very carefully, holding the pump up, otherwise oil will pour out of the piston drive)
Now you need to remove the valve from the piston. Do not use sharp hard tools for this - they are easy to scratch.
We disassemble the pump in two (in half) and again remove the valves from it (I called them that)
And now it becomes clear the reason for the breakdown of the device: it turned out to be a small pebble that got stuck in one of the valves. How it got there remains a mystery - the sink was always operated with a filter and there was also an additional, remote filter on the water supply.
The valves are also with traces of very small particles and with a coating like scale (apparently the water is hard).
We clean all the elements inside the pump and wipe it with felt or another soft cloth (plastic valves and any abrasive can aggravate the situation).
When finished, we assemble the pump and motor in reverse order.
If oil spills, you can replace it with any compressor oil.
After such a simple procedure, the car wash works like new.

Usually, when the water is connected and we turn on the sink, the pump turns on for a second, as if creating pressure in some kind of receiver. After that, from the button on the sprayer, the unit actually starts up, the compressor works and the water flies in the given direction.
This time, everything went differently: the pump is not limited to one time, but “growls” with a clockwise frequency, about once every two seconds. The impression is that somewhere inside there is a leak, and you need to constantly pump up water. After pressing the button on the sprayer, the sink is already working normally, but it is worth releasing - and again these periodic inclusions.
Tell me, in which direction to dig in this case, where could there be a malfunction? The warranty has long expired.

Many people are already making money just by talking on our forum! For example, like this. Or like this. it will take one minute.
Karcher car washes are a popular type of modern cleaning equipment that has become widespread, largely due to its reliability and durability.
However, these car washes - just like any other equipment - inevitably wear out during operation, which over time can lead to its breakdown. Specialists who repair Karcher car washes identify the following main malfunctions.
The most common problem is the reduced performance of the car wash pump. It is directly related to the drop in operating pressure, leading to a decrease in the efficiency of washing equipment. The reason for the pressure drop, as a rule, is the wear of the stuffing box seals available in the Karcher car wash pump assembly. This wear may be natural (associated with long-term operation); in addition, poor water quality and the presence of abrasive particles in it can lead to it. A symptom that allows you to identify the described malfunction is the appearance of puddles of water under the car wash. This signal should not be neglected: a malfunction that has arisen can lead to even more serious consequences. The wear process will develop progressively, while high-pressure water can destroy the oil seal and break into the drive mechanism crankcase. The oil in the crankcase will turn into a foamy composition and will not be able to perform its lubricating function. Obviously, the repair of a car wash in this case will be a much more costly undertaking than if you contact the service center in a timely manner.
The failure of a Karcher car wash may be due to problems such as wear on the rubber rings of the pressure regulator or bypass valves, as well as damage to the hoses. These problems can be indicated by symptoms such as:
decrease in the recoil force of the gun at the moment the car wash is turned on;
decrease in the density of the liquid jet;
decrease in its cleaning power.
Any of these symptoms is a reason for immediate contact with a specialized service center.
The problems of Karcher car washes listed in this article are common, but, alas, far from the only ones. One can not but rejoice that the professionals of service centers today successfully eliminate almost any defects, completely restoring the performance of car washes.
Why doesn't Karcher build up pressure and jerks when the cutter is on?
The problem can affect most budget car washes, such as KARCHER K 3, 5.200 and others.
Karcher can work in jerks for several reasons.
If there are air bubbles in the underwater hose, we do not consider this issue.
A drawdown in electricity is unlikely to allow the Karcher to work in jerks, although this is also possible.
The main reason is the pressure valve. When the cutter was connected, my Karcher worked at intervals of a second - it turned on and off. All other problems (drawdown of electricity, airiness of the system) are excluded and checked. If everything is in order with this, most likely the spring of the water pressure valve has failed. The valve is responsible for stabilizing the Karcher pressure and turning off the electric motor. If the Karcher works in jerks at short intervals, this is most likely the reason.
The valve spring is stainless steel and tends to sag after some time of heavy use. Now, much lower pressure is needed to turn the valve on (and turn off the engine), because the spring has sagged. The cutter turns on, the pressure rises sharply, the valve turns off the engine, the pressure drops, it turns on again and so on jerkily with a frequency of 1 second. With a normal Karcher nozzle, everything is fine, there is not so much pressure.
In this video - a more detailed explanation of getting rid of Karcher's jerks
First, let's take a look at Karcher 5.20
take out the valve
Here it is the problematic Karcher pressure relief valve, the spring of which prevents us from living
There are several options to solve the problem.
But you need an original spring - made of stainless steel, since the valve is always wet, and corrosion is not allowed in this place - otherwise it will jam. This implies a drawback - there are no good stainless steel springs)
stretch the spring mechanically. I did not succeed, the spring lost its rigidity.
After stretching under compression, it took its original shape.
tighten the rod holding the spring. There is an adjusting thread, it can be tightened to shorten the spring and it will become stiffer. It is better to look at the video. You will have to file the tip of the rod a little so that it spins deeper.
you need to tighten the millimeter by 1.5 -2 from the original.
to do this, clamp the Karcher valve in a vise to prevent it from turning
We disassemble it with pliers. The valve is on a threaded lock, so you have to make an effort. The vise must be clamped accordingly.
This is the stainless steel spring.
We file the tip of the twisting part of the valve on the grindstone by 1.5 - 2 mm to start
We press the spring. We assemble the karcher in reverse order.
LUBRICATE THE SPRING AND VALVE WITH SILICONE GREASE
If jerks remain, you still need to preload the spring
If the karcher works and does not turn off, then the spring is pinched and the valve is clamped. You need to let go a little.
You may have to disassemble to assemble several times until you are completely set up. Remember to BLEED PRESSURE WITH THE GUN and UNPLUG THE POWER SUPPLY before each disassembly.
now the karcher cutter works fine - no jerks
In this video, we see the repair of Karcher with our own hands, using improvised means. A man, using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrews the front panel of a mini sink, which simply lies on a bench for convenience. After he opens the front panel we will see the main mechanism of the mini wash - the compressor, before connecting the final hose to the water spray mechanism. Next, he unscrews the nozzle from the hole where the water will be supplied.
Further, when docking the nozzle and the final hose, he found that the fixation after twisting did not hold well together, which means that the thread was most likely broken after high pressure. It is immediately clear that a clamp-type retainer is needed, which is demonstrated by the man in the video. He holds in his hands a profile-like pipe, which has already been prepared for use. This suggests that even at home it is not difficult to repair a Karcher with your own hands.
Next, the master tightly twists the adapter and begins to assemble the entire mini sink into a kit. After installing the front panel, one main detail remains visible. The final hose is twisted, while the fixation is not the one that should be, but for this a special clamp is needed. It's easy enough to make at home. The clamp needs to be specially turned, so that the fixation would take place with the help of the adapter that is screwed into the generator and the washers of the final hose. After the complete installation of such a nozzle, we see how the master screws in another adapter, where water will be supplied.
After that, it remains only to turn on Karcher with a 220 volt network.

Do-it-yourself Karcher repair. Do-it-yourself repair of a high-pressure hose, high-pressure car wash, mini-wash, foam nozzle, Karcher pump
With regular use of a high-pressure washer, high-quality maintenance of the device in a service center is required. In order to save money, many users repair Karcher with their own hands. It is not recommended to carry out self-cleaning and replacement of parts before the end of the warranty period, which will affect the denial of further service.
For trouble-free operation of the device, regular replacement of oil, seals and cuff on the pump (high pressure pump) is required. In the event of interruptions in water pressure or improper storage / use of the device, an urgent do-it-yourself repair of Karcher may be required. What parts fail?
Pump, motor and pressure sensor.
Electrical part.
Nozzle, hose and gun.
The choice of household mini-sinks eliminates the occurrence of difficulties in care, but different models have their own characteristics, which you must first find out from the seller. For example, a car wash nozzle with a lamellar structure will ensure high-quality operation with regular cleaning with a toothpick. Otherwise, the ingress of small particles will cause the unit to stop working.
When purchasing a product, you should clarify the availability of the nearest service centers and the warranty period. If such issues are overlooked, the breakdown of the device will lead to unnecessary problems. If you decide to repair the Karcher with your own hands, the right step is to study the instructions in detail.
According to the manufacturer and employees of car washes, the main reasons for the breakdown of the device are poor water quality and lack of after-sales service. To increase the service life of the unit, it is necessary to comply with the basic requirements:
Install a filtering device for coarse and fine water cleaning at the inlet to the AED.
Control the flow of the required volume of liquid according to the technical indicators of the device. For example, if the fluid flow is 15 l / min., And the water supply allows you to get 13 liters, after 2 months you may need to immediately repair the Karcher with your own hands (or at a service center).
Water pipe diameter should be 3/4 inch per unit.
Factory nozzles and accessories are subject to self-replacement.
No video.
Video (click to play).
With regular preventive maintenance, you can eliminate the occurrence of unforeseen circumstances that will entail the replacement of expensive parts.
Check the condition and regularly change the oil in the pump plunger drive device. According to the manufacturer, the first oil change should be carried out after 50 hours of using the device, the subsequent service - after 350-550 hours. With average throughput indicators of the washing area, it is enough to carry out treatment once every 3 months.
Monitoring the condition of the pump for a good flow of liquid, external application of oil, as well as minor repairs to the Karcher car wash with your own hands (changing filters, tightening bolts) will extend the life of the device.
For AED with heating, it is obligatory to prevent the boiler - cleaning the fuel filter (removing scale on the inner walls of the heat exchanger and external plaque).
Repair is required if there is a decrease in pump performance and a decrease in operating pressure. This is caused by fluid leaking through the plunger seals. Wear of oil seals is produced naturally or when exposed to abrasive elements. At high pressure, small scratches will affect the leakage of fluid.
The first signal of a malfunction is a small puddle formed at the place where the hose runs. To resolve the issue, you can make a simple, but painstaking repair of the Karcher car wash with your own hands. It is enough to change the seals (seals). More difficulties will cause the installation of a new drive, housing elements, seals, etc.
The suction channel is formed by housing elements that place a flat filter between them. The efficiency of the device depends on its condition. The formation of defects in the fit of the surfaces of body parts leads to a decrease in the main characteristics of the device. With low suction power while working with a hose and nozzles, repairing a Karcher high-pressure washer with your own hands requires the preparation of a soft material to clean all surfaces and ribs of body parts. Damaged items must be replaced.
If the device is equipped with the Total Stop system (switching off the pumping system when there is no pressure on the gun trigger), leaks will lead to involuntary switching on - the automatic device perceives a decrease in pressure as a “start” command, the device rattles.
The deterioration of the bypass or bypass valve, the rubber seal (ring) of the pressure sensor and the failure of the hose affect the performance decrease or shutdown of the AED. This is accompanied by a low level of pressure of the gun, a decrease in the density and washing characteristics of the jet.
If the device does not maintain the set pressure level, the pump works intermittently and the water is supplied in fragments, repairing the Karcher high-pressure washer with your own hands will not be too difficult. It is enough to unscrew the bolts with a screwdriver and remove the housing, get the motor with the pump and separate the engine from it. The pump must be directed upwards, otherwise oil will leak from the piston drive.
The valves are removed from the piston (the use of sharp objects is excluded, which can damage the surface), the pump is disassembled into 2 parts. The valves are removed again.
This is how the cause of the failure of the device is found out. It could be scaling or clogging. All parts in the inside of the pump are cleaned and wiped with felt. Then the structure is assembled in the reverse order.
Do-it-yourself repair of the Karcher high-pressure hose consists in crimping the damaged element at the ends or along the entire length. If the hose is torn off the flange, the unusable part should be cut evenly to an area where there are no deformations. The required flange is selected and placed on the hose. The first must be inserted into the second and compressed in a vice. Hammer strikes from above.
If a cut is formed along the length of the sleeve, similar work is done. The hose is cut and removed to an undamaged section. A connector of a given diameter and two clamps are inserted. They are put on the hose, the connector is inserted, tightly crimped with clamps. If cracks form along the entire length of the sleeve, do-it-yourself repair of the Karcher high-pressure hose is not possible. A complete replacement of the product is required - it is better to entrust this to the masters of the service center.
If the foam nozzle stops producing thick foam, is used for a long time or is not washed with clean water after use, the mesh in the form of a shaft becomes clogged with dried “chemistry”.
To clean the foam tablet, it is necessary to perform a number of operations:
Disconnect the tank from the main frother.
The arrow indicates the location of the pin holding the plastic tip of the tablet on the brass element. The pin should be knocked out. If you decide to repair the Karcher foam nozzle with your own hands, you can use an awl or a thin screwdriver.
After removing the plastic tip, you will see two petals forming the foam spray angle. The tip with them must be unscrewed.
In the inner part of the removed nozzle, steel threads will be visible, taking a rounded shape (in the form of a tablet). They should be removed with an awl. Cleaning of the hardened “chemistry” in the nozzle is carried out with a needle.
The assembly of the product is carried out in the reverse order.
Correctly made repair of the Karcher nozzle with your own hands allows you to extend the life of the device and reduce the cost of its maintenance.
