The awareness of the need to use car seats to transport children came to me with age. If you think that the safest way to transport children in a car is with mom in her arms, then you are mistaken: at modern speeds, in which case, hands will not help. Therefore, now we transport our youngest daughter only in a chair - even for short distances in the city, not to mention "long-distance flights."And all the other passengers, by the way, buckle up - and not only in the front row.
The story of buying a car seat began from the moment when my daughter was able to sit, because already at the age of six months she went with us on a journey of more than one and a half thousand kilometers, from Kiev to Lugansk and back. By six months, the child can already be seated in a chair of the 1st group, in contrast to the chairs of group 0, which are cradles with mounts.
The wife, armed with the Internet, approached the choice of chair with all thoroughness: first, the forums were re-read for "live" reviews about the safety and ease of use of specific models of chairs, then articles-reviews of professional journalists went, after that - the results of crash tests (by the way, in the West, “emergency” seat tests are no less popular than car crash tests: for example, one of the most famous German car clubs ADAC annually publishes test results for several dozen models of child car seats).
We needed a comfortable, non-marking, safe chair, preferably not the most expensive models. Of the additional options, only the ISOFIX mounting system was considered, which allows you to install and remove the seat “with one click” - in grooves previously located in the car.
By the way, not all rear seats of cars are equipped with such a system - for example, neither Suzuki Swift nor Pajero Wagon have these mounts, in this case the seat fastening system with regular seat belts must be strong and reliable (for car seats of younger groups, the fastening is usually done separately from belts that fasten the baby, and starting from the 3rd group, more “adult” chairs do not have their own belts: both the chair and the child are “fastened” with a regular belt through special fastening grooves).
By the way, during the search, an interesting feature turned out - those brands and models of car seats that were quite well promoted in Ukraine turned out to be either almost unknown in Western countries or showed relatively modest results in terms of safety and comfort. This happened with several Chicco and Recaro models.
But the models of the manufacturer Romer almost always occupied the top places in the ratings, and the reviews about them were good. As a result, we chose two models: Romer King TS and Romer King TS plus. The "plus" of the second model turned out to be the same "isofix" system, however, in the model without a plus sign, the fastening system with a regular belt was up to par - the chair has its own metal frame, through which the car's belt is passed and fixed and after that it snaps into place (attached to the frame ) the chair itself. Everything is done very soundly, there is a belt pretensioning system (in order for the standard car belt to always be in a taut state, we firmly press the base and the seat itself to the seat).
However, after choosing a model, we faced a small problem - the Romer manufacturer is not officially represented in Ukraine, therefore, it was quite difficult to find a chair at a reasonable price (after all, it is known that the prices of official representatives are usually lower than ordinary resellers, excluding options for outright smuggling ). Rescued, as in many other matters, the online store: the chair ordered in another country arrived safely to us through the delivery service.
First of all, we appreciated the possibility of removing the cover - if in other models it was rather difficult to remove from the chair, with a bunch of latches, hidden hooks and other tricks, then the Roemer cover came off “like a sock” after loosening the lace along the edge of the cover. Empirically, over the course of three years, it was found out that juice, berries, plasticine and chocolate did not leave marks on the upholstery, they were washed off quite easily. The chair weighs quite a lot (10 kilograms offhand), but after all, the metal is the basis of the design - you can forgive the weight for safety.
The first installation of the chair was not without curiosities - in order to fasten the chair, you must first fold the seat itself on the hinge, fasten the belt in the grooves of the base-frame, then lower and latch the “bucket” of the chair itself. However, at the most crucial moment, when I passed my hand between the chair and the frame, fastening the belt into the regular latch, the chair “folded” on its own, pressing down on my hand. There is an emphasis so that the chair does not fall, but it is very unstable. In the future, of course, they adapted, but the sediment (that is, scratches) remained.

My daughter loves the chair. It was comfortable to sleep in it (the tilt of the entire chair relative to the frame can be adjusted with one handle under the chair), to sit high, you can see everything through the window - beauty, and nothing more. I was very pleased with the three-point belts with which the child was fastened to the chair itself - all three belts snap into place with one touch, at the level of the child's tummy, they do not interfere with sitting and lying down - unlike the regular seat belt, with which the chairs of the older groups fasten themselves and hold the child. Considering that in modern cars the belts are inertial and self-locking, tying a child and a chair with them through special grooves is still entertainment.

In general, "a good chair, you need to take it." It’s only a pity that we grew out of it - by the age of three and a half, we bought a chair for the next group for our daughter. By the way, also Romer - but that's another story.
