In order to install the jacks, you disassemble part of the pick-ups at the corners of the bath, but under the jack itself you need to put a piece of a solid board 50 mm thick to create a platform for emphasis. If the rod rests directly against the log, then it can either slip or push through the wood, so a gasket is inserted between them in the form of a steel strip of at least 5 mm thick.

Now we begin with our own hands gradually, by 5-10 mm, to raise each of the corners of the log house in turn, and so on until we raise it by 5-6 cm - this will make it possible to remove the rotten coasters and install others instead, from pieces of a strong beam or logs, while setting the bars under the logs.

They must be pre-treated with an antiseptic, and between them a tape tow treated with the same composition is laid. When all the supports are in place, you can slowly remove the jacks and proceed to the next step.

Advice. To prevent the logs from moving off the bars, they must be laid very carefully and fastened with brackets after that.

Now, in order to replace or overhaul the foundation of the bath, it is necessary to pour concrete pads in the corners, at least 50 × 50 cm in size, and concrete columns are cast on them along the height and width of the tape.

After they dry, they lay the foundation of the future socle of the bath, two ordinary bricks high. This position of the building will allow not only to repair the old tape, but to dismantle its bay with another one.

Regardless of the height of the tape, a sand-gravel pillow is poured under it (you can use construction debris - the price will be lower), you fill in a layer of mortar 5-10 cm high. You lay a reinforcing cage on it, which can be made in the form of a triangle (three longitudinal rods are connected to each other using short jumpers).

When laying, be sure to leave room for tying the frame in the corners and try to ensure that it lies exactly in the center and is subsequently completely covered with mortar.

You will have to set a low formwork at the level of the tape, so that after pouring and solidifying the foundation, you can raise the base by two bricks. If you want to have a concrete plinth as well, then you will have to raise the log house even higher in order to have access for pouring.

As we have already said, there may be a need to replace the logs of the lower crown, which is quite likely when the strapping rots. You can see how this is done in the diagram above, but if you are interested in a detailed description of the process, then we will provide it for you in another article.After all the vicissitudes described above, it’s still too early for you to relax, as repairs inside the bath are ahead, and it’s very good if the stove survived. First of all, you will have to tidy up the roof at the chimney, annulling the possibility of leakage, and then take on the floors. But such a repair of the bath is already much easier to do than to raise and lower the log house. Happy repair!Repair work in the bath may include both updating the elements of interior decoration, and partial restoration of the collapsed parts of the walls. As a rule, in the wall box of wooden baths, the lower crowns are the most vulnerable. They, after two or three decades of active exploitation, can almost completely rot. To restore the integrity of the structure, it will be necessary to remove the old logs, and then replace them with new material.If you plan to make any updates inside the bath, then the first step is to remove as much as possible everything that needs to be replaced. To begin with, the old interior decoration is removed, then the brick oven is dismantled, the wooden floor is removed, the concrete screed is dismantled, as well as the foundation of the old stove. Having finished with the internal elements, you can proceed to the removal of the remnants of the old foundation.The design of the bath rises on special jacks for wooden houses. After that, the removal of rotten or deformed lower rims of the log house for some other reason is performed.It can only be the very first row if the boxes are only slightly damaged. But it is also possible that two or three crowns from below will need to be removed. For this, heavy metal crowbars or axes are used, which should be used to break each rotten log in succession, carefully monitoring the integrity of the reference points of the entire box.Then there is a dismantling of the old foundation under the bath. The work will require a significant investment of time and effort if there was a concrete solution at the base. Large crowbars break the concrete into small pieces and take it out from under the building.In place of the previous foundation, a shallow trench is dug around the perimeter to fill a non-buried strip foundation. A layer of crushed stone 6-8 cm thick is poured at the bottom of the trench and compacted with a sledgehammer.Next, a layer of sand 5 cm is poured, spilled with water and rammed with a flat board with a handle screwed to it. The procedure should be repeated three times until the sand layer reaches 15 cm.The next stage is the manufacture of wooden formwork for pouring the mortar. The foundation tape requires mandatory reinforcement, for which fiberglass reinforcement is used in this case. For concrete waterproofing, the formwork surface is covered with a dense polyethylene film. Across the formwork, be sure to place plastic pipes pipes to organize airflow in the foundation. They will provide effective ventilation of the wooden underground.A concrete mixer is installed from the inside, in which the concrete solution is prepared. It is desirable to fill the entire perimeter in one day, so that joints of concrete slabs of varying degrees of humidity do not form in the future.After the solution has completely dried (at least two weeks), the frame can be supported on concrete. Instead of removed rotten logs, a beam is placed on top of the waterproofing film. Tow is laid between the joints of the beam. They are constantly under the influence of high humidity and with improperly organized vapor barrier, wooden structures quickly collapse under the influence of fungus and mold.This is what an insulated steam room looks like, in which mineral wool was used in rolls with a foil layer.As a result of the violation of the integrity of the vapor barrier reflective layer, moisture constantly penetrated into the fibers of the insulation and accumulated there. From constant contact with water, the tree began to actively become covered with mold. If the interior decoration had not been removed in time, then, after 3-4 years, damage to the walls due to their accelerated decay could become irreparable.The new finishing layer was made in accordance with all the rules - a wooden frame was installed on the walls, on top of which foil vapor barrier on kraft paper was laid with the help of a construction stapler.The installation of the vapor barrier requires covering all damage from staples with foil tape, and the vapor barrier sheets must be laid with an overlap of at least 10 cm. The joints should also be sealed with vapor barrier tape.In this case, it was decided not to lay the heat-insulating layer so that it does not accumulate moisture, as in the previous version of the separation. However, if you are sure of the quality of the vapor barrier, you can put mineral wool slabs in the wooden crate between the log wall and the vapor barrier. This will significantly speed up the process of warming up the steam room.

As you can see in the photo, the walls from below were covered with a plinth made of cement-bonded particle boards. Porcelain tiles are glued onto the DSP sheets, which form one integral layer with the floor covering. If there was a wooden lining at the very bottom of the wall, it would soon begin to rot in the basement area from regular contact with water. And the porcelain stoneware surface does not experience any problems under the influence of high humidity.
