The technology is quite simple:

First, the wall must be cleaned of old wallpaper or wall panels, and also all shelves, brackets, sockets, switches, etc. must be removed from it.
After that, the surface of the wall is treated with an antifungal compound - it will protect the space under the plasterboard sheathing from the spread of mold.
The next step is to mark the wall for the crate. With the help of a level, we draw vertical lines on the wall, along which we attach the racks to the buoy.

We start with the layout of the premises.First, along the perimeter of the entire room, stepping back from the ceiling 100-150 mm, draw a base line using a level.
Then, on the ceiling itself, we apply markings with a step of 600 mm - along which we will fix the main ceiling profiles.
After marking, we proceed to assembling the frame. Along the baseline, we fix the starting ceiling profile for drywall, making sure that all the panels are placed at the same level.
Then we fix suspensions made of metal U-shaped plates to the ceiling according to the applied markings.
Bending the edges of the suspensions downwards, we fix the main profiles on them, thereby forming the plane of our ceiling. We put the edges of the main profiles into the starting groove and fix them with a self-tapping screw or special pliers for galvanized metal.
We cover the finished ceiling frame with plasterboard and level it with putty using the same technology as the walls.

Another use for drywall that can be found in an apartment during renovation is for finishing window slopes.

Fastening the starter profile to the frame

We measure the window opening with the installed window. According to the dimensions obtained, we cut out the necessary panels from the gypsum board.
We fix the starting F-shaped profile on the window frame with the help of glue “liquid nails” or self-tapping screws-“bugs”. This profile is designed for plastic panels, but it is also great for gypsum plasterboard.
Fill the profile groove with acrylic sealant.
We apply mineral wool insulation to the wall. The size of the insulation is selected so that it occupies the entire space between the wall and the slope.
Apply glue for gypsum boards to the profile panel, after which we insert one edge of the panel into the groove of the starting profile. We press the drywall to the window opening, while leveling it.
After installing all parts of the slope, we process the joints with putty and paint the slope with interior paint.

For slopes, it is better to use moisture-resistant drywall, since it is more resistant to getting wet, as well as mold.

If a small (up to 25-30 mm in diameter) hole is punched in the plasterboard wall, then it can simply be covered with putty.

If the hole has significant dimensions, then the repair of the plasterboard wall is carried out with the replacement of a fragment. To do this, cut out the damaged area, and in its place we glue a piece of plasterboard of the same shape. Further, as in the first case, putty and surface cleaning are performed.
When sealing holes larger than 10 cm, before inserting a new fragment from the seamy side of the gypsum board, you can attach several plywood strips with self-tapping screws.
These strips will play the role of an improvised lathing and will not allow the damage to expand when the skin is deformed.

Replaced fragment putty

Cracks are a separate category of damage to drywall structures.

If a crack appeared on the inner corner, then first apply a thin layer of putty to the corner itself, and then apply a serpentine tape.Using a putty knife to seal the corners, press the serpyanka into the filler, removing excess material. After 24 hours, the treated area can be putty and painted.
We also seal the crack at the junction with a putty mixture. To do this, first remove the damaged reinforcing tape, then apply a gypsum composition, and then glue the joint again with tape.

To calculate the amount of the required profile, you need to decide on the step of its installation. The rack vertical profile is installed in 60 cm increments, but there are also such designs in which the step is 40 cm.

The length of the perimeter profile will match the length of the wall perimeter. In order to make a plasterboard partition, a special type of profile is used, its width can be 5, or 7.5, or 10 cm. Such a profile is mounted in increments of 60 cm.

Let's move on to calculating the number of staples. Using brackets, the profile is fixed in one plane with another profile. The brackets are mounted to the ceiling or wall using dowels or self-tapping screws at a distance of at least 50 cm. The bracket is fixed to the profile with self-tapping screws for metal (9.5 mm).

Installing drywall on the wall.

For wall decoration with plasterboard, special fasteners are used, on which rust does not form. Any of the structures is designed to be fixed with a specific element.

Failure to comply with distances. The acceptable distance between the parts of the plasterboard sheets is 57 mm, and the clearance of the floor and the enclosing elements is 10 mm.

If there is a desire to hang something on drywall walls, use special dowels for this. Their dimensions must be suitable for the thickness of the coating. Weights with a small mass are hung on the gypsum panels using hooks or nails. Solid cabinets or shelves are fixed with plastic dowels or screws.

Scheme of plasterboard seams.

The length of the knife should be 15-30 cm.

Such manifestations are associated with non-compliance with technologies in the process of sewing up the frame with sheets and making mistakes. However, one of the reasons may be too sharp temperature drop, for example, in winter.

To get rid of this problem, you need to do the following:

Expand the crack boundaries a little in width and depth, a few millimeters will be enough. For this, a knife or a nail is taken. In this way, the gap is cleared, after which the material will firmly adhere to the base of the drywall.
Crack priming.
Puttying seams with a special compound. The space should be filled with such a composition tightly, taking into account the fact that the filling substance will sag slightly. For this, a small spatula or a construction knife is taken. Excess putty must be removed.
As soon as the seams are dry, it is sanded with fine emery cloth. If necessary, the base is primed and tinted.

Before work, you should outline the perimeter of the workpiece for the future patch.

When carrying out such repairs, the putty can be replaced with acrylic. The seam processing technique will be similar. It is not recommended to use silicone: it has a greasy composition and cannot be painted.

If the cracks cover a large surface of the sheet, repair the wall using fiberglass mesh. It is glued to the entire base of the wall with a putty for processing GKL seams. The surface is finished with a finishing putty. Then the damaged surface is ground and ground.

Then comes the elimination of small holes. A weighty reason that led to this type of damage is the mechanical impact of domestic value. Such a hole is called a dent or hole.

In this case, wall repair is associated with cutting off the damaged area, priming and filling it.

Such repairs take place in this form:

The configuration of the defect is studied. Then, focusing on its contours, a rectangular, triangular or rounded outline is drawn. Using this technique will make it possible to make a template that facilitates further work with the damaged opening.
A stencil is made for the hole. It is made in this way: a paper sheet of a given size is applied to the hole against the wall, marking is done, followed by cutting out the part. This template allows you to create a new piece of drywall.
A small part is taken from the CD profile: its length should be much greater than the width of the hole, the difference is 5-10 cm. If the hole has significant dimensions, it is necessary to take several profiles. They are fixed on the other side of the partition, and screwed on from the outside with self-tapping screws.
Once the parts are secured, further repairs can be carried out. For this, all the boundaries of the wall are cut at an angle of 45 °. Such measures will reliably fix the connection and increase the connection surface of the putty and gypsum board sheets.
Further, the seam along the entire base is glued with a serpyanka tape. Such measures help to exclude the occurrence of new cracking along the entire seam.
As soon as the layer of putty is dried, after the repair of the site, it is sanded and primed.

In order to minimize the amount of household mechanical stress on drywall sheets, a double layer of this material should be installed.

Repair of corner areas. When working with sheets of gypsum board, the problem of chipping corners often appears. To do this, you need to do:

Thoroughly clean the damaged area from dust and dirt.
Open the corner with a primer, thereby ensuring a strong adhesion of the putty and the base.

A home craftsman, engaged in arranging an apartment, often strives to give the walls and ceiling perfectly flat surfaces that allow you to conveniently place furniture, effectively implement design ideas.

During the construction of the building and the initial decoration, flaws often remain: bulges and concavities, deviations visible to the eye. They need to be eliminated.

For this purpose, it is convenient to use plasterboard sheets, which are becoming increasingly popular among builders and apartment owners.

When leveling the surfaces of the walls, take care of the observance of safety standards when handling working tools.

Finishing building material in the form of sheets (GCR) made of composite compositions has an environmentally friendly composition without harmful toxic components:

outer layers - durable cardboard;
internal filler - gypsum.

Manufacturers produce them in standard sizes:

length (m) - 3 or 2.5;
width (m) - 1.2 or 0.6;
thickness (mm) - 29.0; 24.0; 18.0; 16.0; 14.0; 12.5; 9.5; 8.0; 6.5.

The sheets have a leveled surface and are well processed with cutting tools.

For technical purposes, drywall is produced for:

alignment of walls and ceilings;
making arches;
operation in damp rooms - moisture resistant sheets of gypsum plasterboard;
increased resistance to open fire - fire-resistant type GKLO;
resistant to moisture and open fire - GKLVO;
combined use.

Sheets can be created with different types of profile edges at the ends to suit different finishes.

Drywall, especially oversized, has a high weight. A master with extensive work experience may well work alone. Although, it is more convenient to move the GCR with an assistant.

Drywall sheets can be used:

direct adhesion to the surface to be leveled;
installation on the created frame.

This is the easiest way to repair an apartment with your own hands for a home craftsman with basic construction skills and a simple set of working tools.

The method is suitable for sticking on surfaces with distortions up to 5 cm and saves the interior space of the room. If there are large bulges or depressions on the wall, then you should get rid of them in advance.

Before working with sheets, it is necessary to mark the wall horizontally and vertically, cut the sheets and mark them.

If it is required to level large areas, then holes are drilled in the wall with a puncher for dowels and screws are screwed into them, ensuring that their heads create a single plane in space. They will work as beacons. The sheets of drywall attached to them will become very easy to align.

Adhesive masses create poor contact with dust and building dirt. Therefore, the work must be done in a clean room immediately after the end of high-quality cleaning. The surface of the wall must be primed before gluing the drywall.

The sheet adhesive dries quickly. It is prepared strictly according to the norm, and applied in one of the following ways:

solid stripes;
point method.

In the second method, it is necessary to achieve approximately equal portions of glue in volume and distribute them evenly over the entire surface of the sheet. The optimal distance between the piles of solution is 20 ÷ 30 cm.

It makes no sense to apply a continuous even layer of mortar, because it will not only be costly, but will greatly complicate the monotonous joining of sheets over the entire surface of the wall, their alignment.

The GKL sheet prepared in this way is turned over to the wall and placed on the screw heads. It is recommended to tap it with a rubber mallet over a flat block to ensure an even pressure on all points.

The glued drywall should be left in this position until the glue is completely dry. Subsequent work with it, including sealing the seams, can be performed only after the end of the time specified in the instructions for the glue.

This do-it-yourself apartment renovation method is more complicated. It requires more preparatory work and the use of materials to create the frame. Due to its installation, the internal space of the room is consumed.

When mounted on external walls, it is useful to mount insulation between the wall and drywall sheets: foam or mineral wool. It will significantly reduce heat leakage through the wall, provide comfortable living conditions even in severe frosts.

In practice, builders fix gypsum plasterboard sheets in two ways on:

a wooden crate made of dried slats;
galvanized sheet metal profiles.

Wood, no matter how it is processed, is prone to shrinkage over time with subsequent deformations. For this reason, they try to get rid of its use.

Galvanized sheet metal for a profile is bent at the factory to specific dimensions.

U modules with a width of 100, 75, 50 mm and a height of 40 are designed for fixing to the floor and ceiling. Their side walls have a flat surface without bends. They are also called PNP profile - guiding.

C modules of the same width and 50 mm height are installed in U-profiles. UD and CD products are intended for additional fastening and bridging.

To facilitate the installation and alignment of the gypsum board, special types of suspensions are used, which can be bent to give rigidity during fastening, creating various shapes of the frame structures with a profile.

Work begins with the markup.On the floor and ceiling, mark the finish line of the mating surface of the final drywall sheets. For this purpose, it is convenient to use laser levels or levels. You can work with an ordinary construction plumb line with a level.

Taking into account the thickness of the GKL sheet with dowels with screws, the control panel profile is fixed with the central part to the reference plane. They are also attached to adjacent walls to create a single common frame oriented strictly in a given plane.

Intermediate profiles (PP) - C, CD are inserted into the resulting box. Sheets of drywall will be mounted to them. Therefore, it is necessary to place them in such a way as to ensure that the latter are fastened along the edges and in the middle. The optimal distance between their centers is 60 cm.

The placement of intermediate profiles starts from one base edge of the wall and leads to the other in sequence. To fix the final sheet, the distance of its profiles must be equal to or less than 60 cm.

Vertical profiles with horizontal ones are fastened with special screws with a drill at the end of the spout. They cut a hole well in the tin and screw the parts tightly, keeping them in a single frame.

The rigidity of the assembled structure is given by suspensions. They are used to fasten vertical profiles to the wall. To do this, metal strips are bent in the shape of the letter "P", connected to the profile, and screwed to the wall through the ears or using the method shown in the picture.

Performing this work, they control the state of the created plane for mounting drywall sheets. It should not go beyond the assigned alignment boundary.

During work, a situation may arise when you have to increase or shorten the sheets of gypsum board. Such an operation is performed by sawing them or cutting them with a knife along a ruler.

For work, you will need a screwdriver or a drill with an adjustable speed for fastening with hardened 35 mm screws of gypsum board sheets.

At their end, a sharpened thread is made, which works as a drill. They are faster and easier to install.

The screws are screwed flush into drywall or slightly drowned in it for subsequent leveling of the surface.

10 mm recede from the lateral edge, and 15 from above. The screws are placed in a row at the same distance of 10 ÷ 15 cm.

Do-it-yourself apartment renovation can involve not only leveling the walls, but also their insulation from the side of the room. For this purpose, the inner cavity formed by the sheets of gypsum board is filled with foam, mineral wool or other available material.

GKL installation technology is practically no different from the previously discussed method. But elements can be added to it, for example:

profile racks amplifiers;
fiberglass canvas;
screed and others.

No matter how we tried to perfectly fit the drywall sheets together, there will still be joints that require subsequent leveling with a solution. They also need to close all screw heads.

The edge of each sheet of gypsum board has a bevel at the ends, designed for better filling with putty. If the sheet was cut, then its edges must be processed with a plane, which creates an even cut, provides a uniform chamfer. It is difficult to work with a knife, its blade cannot be strictly fixed.

The joints of drywall sheets must be cleaned of dust, then primed with a brush. Next, a putty solution is prepared, achieving its consistency, like sour cream. Stir it well with a mixer operating at low speeds.

The finished solution is applied with a spatula to the joints of the gypsum board and the screw heads. The joints of the sheets are designated for gluing the construction tape. It allows you to ensure an even surface structure of the putty when it dries and is made of:

paper;
synthetic mesh;
special durable and elastic materials.

After gluing the construction tape with a spatula with a wide blade, remove all excess mortar from the surface, leave the processed material to dry completely for 8-12 hours. The second layer of putty allows you to eliminate imperfections.

The dried coating is treated with sandpaper, removing all defects and irregularities. After that, finish alignment and wall finishing are performed.
