The tester indicator will show if the metal parts of the instrument are grounded. If the tester does not respond, use the services of a specialist to check the IPO.
If the shredder is connected to a fused coupler or cord entry, perform the same grounding test, but instead of touching the plug ground, touch the tester probe to one of the connector or cord entry faceplate (cover) mounting screws. These screws are connected to the ground of the device, and the indicator on the tester will show if there is contact between the ground of the device and the ground of the connecting device.
When reassembling the appliance, ensure that all parts and wires are returned to their original position.
Before resuming use, check the device: insert its plug into the circuit protected by an RCD, and then turn it on. If the RCD trips, contact a specialist to check the device.
