In detail: lexus px 300 do-it-yourself automatic transmission repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Today, with a smart face, I brought it to the service where they serve my RX, 10 liters. Toyota Type T-IV oils and. a printout from the FAQ, about the "iron mesh" filter and about the fact that it is never changed. To which the master silently left, returned with three huge volumes of technical manuals for RX300 (something like Haynes, but his), leafed through it, opened the necessary page and poked my nose. In the picture with the filter and the specification for its replacement (every 60 thousand km). I wiped it off and went to buy it (still almost a circle along the Moscow Ring Road). How he looks and his partner - in the photo. HOW it can be washed, I do not understand.
the post was mine The post was mine. So I suppose I need to clarify.
This post was posted in response to a question that arose about how to YOURSELF replace the filter. Then this post was posted to the FAK, apparently by a moderator. Few people write specifically for the fact. It is usually full of posts.
The posts of the participants are not the ultimate truth. They reflect their experience (preferably personal). A more reliable source is Toyota's factory documentation and recommendations. However, when gaps are found in this source, we fill them with our experience.
In Toyota's recommendations, there is neither a period nor a schedule for the mandatory replacement of the transmission filter. There is not even a fluid change schedule. There is only "check after 30km". And based on the results of the check - to make a decision.
The transmission is a closed loop, so there are no external debris that requires constant filtration. As well as the cooling system for example. Or brake. There, nothing pours in from the gas tank, nothing burns (forming carbon deposits), nothing is sucked in there from the outside, nothing goes out into the exhaust from there.

The destruction of ATP does not occur from clogging, but from the decomposition of ATP components by the effect of temperature. As a result, there is a loss of lubricating and viscose characteristics. Somewhere in the links I have this graph, but I remember from memory that up to 100C, ordinary mineral ATP practically does not decompose, and its life is almost 200Kmil. Above 100, the decay grows exponentially, and at 300C the service life is somewhere around 20 minutes, I don't remember exactly. Since ATP is cooled with antifreeze (thermostat 78C), its temperature is somewhere in the area of antifreeze, but higher.
For purely synthetic ATP, which is T-4, the decay thresholds are higher. I believe (believe!) That the threshold for onset of decay lies outside the temperature range during normal normal operation of the transmission. This gives (as I think!) The right to Toyota not to set a mandatory interval.
The question may arise why the filter at all. I believe that the filter is there for what and the fuse in sealed non-repairable electronic blocks. If the bearing collapses, and the rollers begin to fly into the pallet, or the gear tooth breaks off, then it will be stopped by the filter, and will not go into the stream and will not jam the valve and cause trouble. Thus, the transmission will start to junk, SLOWLY transition from a fault condition. And it will not stick up somewhere in the forest or in the middle of a snow-covered field.
There is also normal wear and tear in the form of metal dust (whoever removed the pallet saw it). But all these things, with such a filter area, are not able, even in the worst case scenario, to significantly limit the flow of ATP. Rather, fuck all the gears poured into the pan than the filter will clog.
This phrase (in a fake) is taken from the book of Haynes. It specifically applies to the A541E and other 1MZ-FE compatible transmissions. Confirmed by personal experience in opening this transmission. Since there is nothing of the kind (haines, chilton,) NO, it is common to the rex and his U140E / F.
In any case, all the recommendations in the fact (at least from me) are aimed at educating the readers of the conference, for INDEPENDENT, OWN HANDS of maintenance / repair.
They are in no way intended for the Petrovichs. The Petrovichi don't read conferences. To print out the fact and carry it to Petrovich is nonsense. He either has the appropriate training, and so he knows. Or he DOES NOT have training, and then he should not be allowed to the car.
In any case, HE WON'T RINSE, neither with acetone, nor forgive me with urine, nor anything else. He doesn't need this economy. He will simply replace the node with a new one and include it in the bill.
If your bolt breaks when unscrewing it from, say, the intake manifold, you personally will drill, heat, etc. He will simply replace the manifold. If he breaks the threads in the candle well, he will replace the entire head. This is how he works, this is his business. He can't afford a mudohazza all day like you inserting a spiral.
2 Ikaar: no need to put in a compote. Use the Petrovichs less, and don't ruin it. And don't expect them to rinse anything, much less acetone. Which is poisonous.
2 joyrider: i appreciate your fair anger. How to service your favorite tachank - everyone decides for himself. You can change ATF and transmission filter every 40 thousand. Or you can 20 thousand. Better yet, change the entire transmission every 20 thousand. Or better yet, a complete car. It all depends on your capabilities, in the end. Which are unknown to me.
By the way, if you use the handles to flush the filter the picture you gave, nothing bad will happen. It just becomes clean. But, as noted earlier, it is easier to replace the kit.
I will add a little I remembered a revolutionary song. "break down to the ground, and then."
So, FAK is nothing more than a bit by bit collected OPERATING EXPERIENCE. Our FAK is much better than many Western ones. Saying that this is crap ?! INAPPROPRIATE! For the future, I would recommend not to make such loud statements. There is no limit to perfection. You know something, help others. And I found flaws in the FAK, but I always asked the moderator to "add" or "change". Realizing that the actions of the moderator are not discussed, I will nevertheless allow you to note that it is precisely the statements of the moderator that the FAK is a mess, is a consequence of the moderator's own incorrect work, which is the "joyrider" itself.
I have nothing personal, I just want to ask you to be kinder to people :-))) We tried for everyone.
Respect :-))) The ability to admit your mistakes and repent is a rarity in our time. :-)))
ZY But he could use the right of the moderator and demolish the flame :-))) Twice uvazhuha :-)))

TEXT TAKEN FROM THE TOPIC IN OUR FORUM. You can join the discussion or ask a question at the link above.
The topic of "unreliability" of automatic transmissions on the first generation Lexus RX 300 is raised more often than others.
To dispel myths and legends, collect general information and just opinions, this topic was created. This (root) post will collect key links as well as useful information.
Myth - the RX300 automatic transmission is unreliable.
Reality - With proper operation, the service life of the RX300 automatic transmission is about 300 thousand kilometers.
Myth - automatic transmission repair Lexus RX 300 is insanely expensive
Reality - no more expensive than most cars with automatic transmission. About 60 thousand rubles on a turnkey basis, with removal, installation, spare parts and all consumables. And the reliability after repair is much higher than European cars.
At the moment, the club community has concluded that the best place to repair the automatic transmission is the club's partner, Tolex-Tuning (Lexus on Suschevka). The cost of a complete repair of an automatic transmission with a club discount is less than 60 thousand rubles, the quality has been checked by club members.
The main reasons for repairs:
1. Slipping. The RX300 is not an SUV, but a SUV. Don't skid! If you have sat down, it is better to immediately find the cable than to force the transmission! Trying to get out of the way is the death sentence of an automatic transmission.
2. Replacing the oil with a non-original one. In the automatic transmission RX300 - pour only Type T-IV, original Toyota oil. Do not listen to "experts" who assure that this is "an ordinary Dexron, the current is more expensive." T-IV contains a number of specific frictional additives that are specifically designed for this type of transmission.“Analogs” from Castrol, etc., which supposedly fully comply with T-IV, have also been brought up more than once.
3. Untimely or illiterate filter replacement. Rinsing the filter of the “old” sample (iron mesh), instead of changing to the “new” one (with paper filling). The topic on automatic transmission filters for RX 300 is here
4. Changing the oil in the automatic transmission. Multi-page topic with answers and opinions on many popular questions.
5. Continuous movement at high speed with heavy contamination of the cooling radiators (“main” and under the wing). The consequence is overheating, a decrease in the resource.
6. Coiled run! ... Most RX300s in Russia have coiled mileage, although 99% firmly believe in its “honesty” and carefully pass on the “legend” explaining the 100 thousand miles on duty (“the oligarch’s wife almost didn’t go,” “the minister gave her daughter, and she went to study in Cambridge ”,“ The eighth car in the family ”,“ I just went to the beach and drove a VAZ2107 ”,“ I have a Harrier, but they don't drive much in Japan, I also have pieces of paper with hieroglyphs ”, etc.) about my car to the next buyer.
But look at things sensibly. The RX300 is a comfortable and fast car. Less than 20 thousand a year for such a car is a unique case (legends go to the furnace!). More often 25-30, sometimes more. Thus, for the average static RX300 99-2000, we get for 2008 a mileage of about 200-250 thousand kilometers. Not less! ... And most likely, over the years, the car has seen all kinds of things. The previous owners slipped on a fishing trip or in a snowy yard, and the oil change period was overdue a couple of times (“Japanese is not Lomazza!”) And in the “service of good friends” they changed the oil to Mobile-ATF at 100 rubles per can. And here is the result. Your box needs repair.
Hope dies last. Variants of "shamanism" (or maybe the wiring is gone, the terminal should be removed from the battery or just the oil should be changed?) Help in 1 percent out of 100. If you want to waste a couple of hundred before repairing, the choice is yours.

In the event of a major overhaul, the gearbox is removed from the vehicle. At this stage, the mechanic carefully examines the condition of all systems serving the gearbox, power unit mounting supports, etc.
After dismantling from the car, the automatic transmission goes to the overhaul area. It should be noted that on this site, as well as on all previous ones, experienced craftsmen who have a higher technical education (engineering and physical) work. Here the automatic transmission Lexus PX 300 is repaired, and after washing and drying of all parts, their fault detection is carried out, i.e. the possibility of further use of each part or the need for its replacement is determined.
If desired, any customer can be present both during the disassembly of the gearbox and during the fault detection of its parts. At the end of this procedure, a list of replacement parts is drawn up, which is then necessarily agreed with the customer. It should be especially noted that during a major overhaul, it is necessary, regardless of the state of the automatic transmission, to replace all seals and gaskets. The use of original spare parts only from manufacturers of gearboxes increases the service life of a repaired Lexus RX300 automatic transmission, but leads to a significant increase in the cost of spare parts. To achieve the most optimal combination of price-quality ratio allows the use of aftermarket parts, i.e. companies specializing in the production of spare parts for automatic transmissions.
Installation is carried out taking into account all technical requirements. At this stage, the failed mounting elements and auxiliary transmission service systems are replaced. In addition, during installation, preliminary adjustments are made to the elements of the external part of the control system.
Output diagnostics and car break-in. They are carried out using the same techniques as the entrance diagnostics. In addition, all previously existing fault codes are erased from the memory of the control unit.
If you need a very urgent answer, it is best to call. Ask a Question
Good afternoon. I have a 1999 Lexus RX300. When you press the gas, there is speed, but the car does not move. If you turn off the ignition, wait a little and turn on the ignition, then the car starts to move, but with difficulty. Switching occurs only at high speeds ...
Tell me what could be - repair / replacement of the box or something else?
