Valve clearance adjustment

- write down the measured values that do not correspond to the required ones in order to select the required shim later. Clearance values: inlet valve - 0.15-0.20 mm, outlet valve - 0.20-0.25 mm;
- turn the crankshaft drive belt pulley 1 turn, align the mark on the pulley with the mark on the belt;
- measure the valve clearance. Check only the valves shown in the figure below.
5. Check and adjust the intake camshaft valve clearance. For this:
- remove the intake camshaft;
Due to the fact that the axial clearance of the camshaft is too small, the shaft must be removed horizontally, otherwise the thrust bearing may be damaged, resulting in damage to the camshaft.
- turn the camshaft pulley, the holes in the gear should be at the top. Thus, the cams of cylinders # 1 and # 3 push the tappets evenly.
- unscrew the two bolts and remove the bearing cover No. 1;
- fix the intake camshaft gear on the drive gear with the M6 service bolt. Bolt diameter - 6 mm, pitch - 1 mm, length -16 ... 20 mm;

- Apply a small amount of engine oil to the lower part and the thread of the bearing cap bolt;
- tighten the bearing cap fastening bolts in the sequence shown in the figure. Tightening torque: 9 Nm (for a 1.3 liter engine) and 11 Nm (for a 1.6 liter engine);
- when installing bearing cover No. 1, make sure that the mark is at the front;
If the mark on bearing cover # 1 is not visible, separate the cylinder head and camshaft gear with a screwdriver, then push the camshaft gear backward.
- Apply a small amount of engine oil to the lower part and the thread of the bearing cap bolt;
- install and tighten the two bearing cap bolts. Tightening torque: 9 Nm;
- check the valve clearance.
6. Check the valve clearance of the exhaust camshaft. For this:
- remove the adjusting washers. Turn the crankshaft so that the protruding part of the camshaft cam is at the top;
