In detail: a windshield washer motor VAZ 2110 DIY repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Again, the most pressing topic for car owners in the spring is the problem with the windshield wiper. and also with a windshield or rear window washer. In fact, this post will be a repetition of the previous one about the malfunction of the VAZ 2110 wipers, but still - there are also individual moments here.
In fact, the problems in which glass washers may not work can be divided into two points:
- electrical part
- mechanical part
As for the electrical, here first of all it is worth checking such elements as:
- Fuse that is responsible for powering the windshield washer motor
- Washer switch relay
- Directly the washer motor itself
If after checking it turned out that all of the listed items have no problems, then it is worth checking the following:
- See if there is water in the tank. If it is absent, fill the tank to the required level with antifreeze liquid or water, depending on the ambient temperature.
- Pay attention to the integrity of the hoses, and if there are damage in some places, repair them or completely replace the damaged hoses
- Check and, if necessary, clean the holes in the nozzles (nozzles) of the VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112 washers. It often happens that when using dirty water in the tank, the nozzles become clogged and then water cannot normally flow through their holes
If you do not like the quality of spraying water on the windshield, then you can slightly modify the washer system by using the so-called fan nozzles. You can clearly see this in the video review below.

I hope that this material will help you when solving the problem with the VAZ 2110 and the windshield washer!
You are here: Home> VAZ> 2110> VAZ 2110 washer does not work
Considering the pollution of Russian roads, on which, with the slightest rain, so much dirty water rises into the air by the wheels of cars that it immediately, during heavy traffic, clogs up the windshield with dirt. Therefore, on all vehicles, including VAZ-2110 cars, the windshield washer must be in good working order, because the safety of driving on a wet road after rain will depend on it.
In the event of a malfunction of the "tens" washer, the driver will first of all have to check the integrity of the fuse that protects this electrical circuit. Your further actions will depend on the state of this fuse. If it is intact, we check the performance of the pump motor.
To do this, you need to disconnect the two plugs from the terminals of the electric motor, and then, using two wires, directly connect the voltage from the battery to the contacts of the electric motor. In this case, the polarity of the connection must be observed. To the terminal to which the pink wire came, we connect the plus from the battery, and to the terminal to which the two black wires fit, we connect the minus from the battery.
If the pump motor does not work, then it will have to be replaced with a new one. And if the pump electric motor starts working and at the same time supplies liquid to the windshield through the nozzles, then the reason will need to be looked for either in a malfunction under the steering switch, or a broken wire or the disappearance of the contact in the plugs connecting the wires to the electrical circuit supplying voltage to the washer motor.
The second option is also possible, the washer motor is working, and the liquid does not flow to the windshield. This will indicate that either the nozzles or the washer pump strainer are clogged. Also, the fluid will not be supplied to the windshield, due to a broken hose from the washer pump to the injectors.

This is indeed the case. We quickly get used to good things. The same situation is with the washer. After all, once upon a time this function was not in cars, and this suited any driver. At that time it seemed to them that the car had everything they needed, and there was nothing more to add.
This material will focus on the windshield washer in VAZ-2110 cars. We will look at the possible causes of its malfunction and find out how to deal with these problems.
At its core, the windshield washer consists of two parts - mechanical and electrical. Malfunctions in this device in VAZ-2110 cars often appear in the mechanical part, but in most cases such problems are insignificant and do not require any effort to eliminate them.
One fine morning, you get into your car and want to wash your windshield. Press the washer button and ... By obscenely commenting on what is happening, you get out of the car, take the first rag that comes to hand and go to wipe the glass.
Mechanical reasons why the windshield washer may not work
First of all, you need to make sure that the fuse is intact. If it burns out, it needs to be changed.
It is also worth looking at the condition of the terminals of the motor, which is located in the windshield washer reservoir. If oxidation or rust appears on the metal, it must be cleaned with fine sandpaper.
The invention of the glass washer made it possible to provide additional comfort and safety to motorists, passengers and all road users.
When the washer works well, clearly performs the tasks assigned to it, few people pay attention to it. Until the device starts to "junk" and give the first signs of malfunction.
What does the driver do if a layer of dust or some kind of dirt suddenly contaminates the windshield on the street? That's right, he presses a special lever under the steering wheel of his VAZ 2110, turns on the washer pump, which, in turn, interacts with the wipers and removes all this rubbish... What if the pump is out of order? Then there are two options:
- Drive further, do not stop, looking through the dirty windshield, or even look at the road, leaning out through the side glass;
- Stop, wipe the windshield by hand and continue driving.
The second option is more attractive. But this is a temporary measure that will allow you to get to the garage where you will have your washer repaired.
In a front washer, all existing faults can be divided into two main types, which have their own subproblems, let's say. We suggest you familiarize yourself with them in the table.

But each of these faults deserves a more detailed consideration.
It is with mechanical malfunctions of the washer that the owners of the VAZ 2110 most often encounter.This is when compared with the regularity of electrical problems.
Although mechanical problems are more common, electrical problems should not be forgotten.
- Fuse blown ... If, when turning on the device for cleaning the windshield, the pump does not show any signs of functioning, there is a fairly high probability that the reason lies in a failed fuse. Check its condition. If the device really burns out, it is enough to simply replace it with a new one.
- The switch does not work ... If the pump stops working, but the fuse is intact, then the problem may be a faulty steering column switch. To test this, do a little system testing. But for this you need an assistant. Turn on the ignition and ask a friend to turn on the washer. At the same time, go to the pump yourself and check the presence of voltage in it. In the presence of voltage, but lack of functionality, you will have to change the motor, that is, the pump. If there is no voltage, then a switch, relay, or wiring is the culprit. Check everything. Replace what is needed.
- Clamps oxidized ... Be sure to check the condition of the pump terminals. It is not uncommon for the wiring to oxidize due to moisture, literally falling apart over time. If this happened to your washer, try to properly replace the damaged wiring.
When replacing the windshield washer pump, it is necessary to select a device similar to the previously installed one.
We give in the table the main indicators and characteristics of the device.
Operating temperature range
-40 to +125 degrees Celsius
The consumed amount of current
Having picked up a pump that is suitable for its characteristics, you can start replacing it on your VAZ 2114 car.
The check showed that the reason for the washer not working lies precisely in the pump (pump). Therefore, the most optimal solution in such a situation is to completely replace this very pump.
You will spend no more than 30 minutes on work. Well, if you are completely new to this business, then you will have to devote about an hour of your time to this issue. In this situation, there is no need to contact a service station. All work is easily done by hand.
- Remove the negative terminal from your battery.
- Unscrew the retaining nuts on the washer reservoir so that it can be easily removed.
- Disconnect the terminals and pull them up, then remove the pump and the electric motor from its seat.
- Examine the condition of the rubber band for signs of wear and tear. But even if it is intact, for the purpose of prevention, it is better to immediately replace it with a new one.
- Replace the new pump.
- Return the washer fluid reservoir, connect the terminals.
- Check the amount of fluid in the reservoir. If necessary, add or completely replace it if it is not there for the first season.
- Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
- Check the performance of your washer with a new pump.
If the new motor has started its work, the liquid flows through the tubes to the nozzles without any problems, then you did everything quite right. But sometimes sprayers do not allow you to fully enjoy the work of a repaired washer. They do not spray anti-freeze effectively enough and therefore require intervention.
There are several options for dealing with this situation:
- Install new, not worn out standard injectors. Do not expect major changes, but at first the washer will definitely work better.
- Use fan or double jets, devices from a foreign car. The main thing here is to choose everything exactly for the connectors. Such jets spray water better and provide better washing of the windshield.
- Install an additional nozzle... The work is not the easiest, but it allows you to get certain advantages from it.
- Replace factory tubes with more modern and high quality ones. This way you can avoid freezing of the liquid during the winter period. Remarkably, in this situation, the tubes used in aquariums perfectly demonstrate their effectiveness.
The washer and the condition of the pump must be monitored regularly. You do not want this device on your VAZ 2110 to let you down at the most inopportune moment ?!
Hello everyone! My name is Mikhail, now I'll tell you a story about how I managed to exchange a dvenashka for a 2010 Camry. It all started with the fact that I was wildly annoyed by the breakdowns of the two, like nothing serious broke down, but the little things, damn it, so many things that really started to enrage. Here the idea was born that it was time to change the car to a foreign car. The choice fell on the tayet Camry of the tenths.
- Checking the presence of water in the tank
- We check the tightness and permeability of the tubes
- We check the health of the washer nozzles
If water does not spray well on the windshield, we recommend modifying the windscreen washer system. Have you encountered a similar problem? How did you fix the problem?

Most often, the reason for the washer failure was in:
The windshield washer motor on the VAZ 2110-2112 serves for a long time and, by and large, fails due to the fault of the owners themselves. This happens due to the fact that the pump runs "dry", as they say - that is, it turns on without liquid in the tank.
You may only need one flathead screwdriver to replace the washer motor yourself.
This design is removed quite simply. First of all, we disconnect the power wires, as clearly shown in the photo below.
After that, we disconnect the hose by pulling on it with medium effort. Of course, there should be no water in the tank.
Now you can pry the motor with a flat screwdriver and pull it out of the seat. The effort will have to be medium for the pump to pop out of the sealing gum.
As a result, we get the following result:
Install the new one in the reverse order. The price of this part is about 200 rubles, if you take the original version. As for the motors for the rear window washers, for cars such as VAZ 2111 and 2112, this procedure will be similar.
As the name suggests, this video will help the wishing car enthusiast, if necessary, make his own repair of the washer motor.
One of the most common problems for the washer motor, both for branded and cheap Chinese counterparts, is a leaking oil seal near the pump, as a result of which the washer fluid enters the motor, causing corrosion and seizure.
It is known that the function of the motor is short-lived, the washer turns on, the glass is washed and the motor no longer works. The load on it is small, it does not wear out, the whole problem is in the very stuffing box. How to solve it - look at the video.
Hello everyone! The problem of wiper failure is familiar to many. One of the reasons may be a pump that pumps water to the system. So today they propose to discuss the windshield washer motor.
Outwardly, the element is quite small, but plays a crucial role in the operation of injectors and wipers. In fact, without it, water will not be able to get out of the tank onto the glass, and the wipers will simply crawl along the dry windshield, scratching the surface with settled dust or dirt. Nothing good here.
There are new and old type motors. The latter can be found on Soviet cars, or on VAZ 2107, 2108, for example.
In most cars, including VAZ 2109, 2110, 2114, as well as foreign cars Mitsubishi Lancer, Pajero Sport or Ford Focus, new types of washer motors (pumps) are already used.
The main components of the washer are:
- nozzles;
- pump (motor);
- washer fluid reservoir.
The nozzles are used to supply water to the car windshield. Therefore, they should be located so that the outgoing jet of liquid falls as much as possible on the center of the windshield. The pump delivers water and a reservoir. By the way, on some cars, washer water is supplied not only to the windshield, but also to the main headlights in front and behind.
It doesn't really matter what kind of car you have. It can be Priora, Hyundai Accent, some Mazda or Toyota. For all, the washer motor works on the same principle. Although the device, specifications and appearance may vary.
The pumps supply water or washer fluid. If the washer does not work, most likely the reservoir or the nozzles themselves are broken. They can be changed or repaired by yourself.
If the pump breaks down, the task is a little more difficult here. It is important to immediately identify the problem and fix the damage. It is dangerous to drive a car, and even in bad weather, when the wiper does not work.
Do not rush to blame the motor for everything. It may work, but the wiper is not working for other reasons.
Consider the key reasons why our wipers stop doing their job.
- Clogged filter or jet. Frequent breakdown. Especially for those who use tap water instead of a special washer fluid. To solve the problem, you need to dismantle the devices and flush the system. The work is not difficult, but delicate;
- Feed hoses. They wear out over time, lose their tightness, burst. Everything is simple here. Remove old hoses and replace with new ones. Their price is cheap even on foreign cars;
- Incorrect connection. Performing some work on the repair of the wipers themselves or nearby nodes, you could disassemble the washer system and assemble it incorrectly. Check connections and correct assembly errors;
- Shaft of the electric motor and pump. It so happens that the connection between them is weak or completely broken. What to do? Right. You need to better fix the element;
- Damage to the motor. It does not happen so often, but this option should not be ruled out. Before changing a part, try to clean the motor, its brushes, get rid of all traces of corrosion. Sometimes it helps. If the repair does not work, a replacement will help.
Here are the main reasons for wiper failure. Not the most complicated mechanism in a car, so you can repair it yourself.
If the old motor is out of order, there is no point in trying to repair it somehow. To buy a new part, you have to spend very little money. And the replacement procedure on most cars is extremely simple.
I will describe the main stages of work related to the replacement of this elements of the wiper system of any machine.
- Power off the car. A security measure without which further work is meaningless. Be sure to remove the negative terminal from the car. It's simple, but important. Otherwise, you not only run the risk of burning the wiring, but also get an unpleasant electric shock yourself.
- Search for a motor. It all starts with determining where your wiper motor is located. It depends on your vehicle. On some cars, it is enough to raise the hood and you will immediately see the washer fluid reservoir. The motor itself is located on the tank (partly inside) of the wiper, into which liquid is poured. See the tank? If so, you're in luck. If not, then you will have to look for it by removing the elements of the engine compartment. On some car models, the reservoir is hidden so that you have to dismantle the fender guards.
- Disconnect the pads with wires from the motor. Then remove the tank itself.
- The hose and the union are separated from each other. Remember to drain the liquid. Filling in a new one is not difficult. And for prevention, it does not hurt to do it.
- Using a screwdriver, the intake seal is pushed out of the bushing. This will allow you to fully remove the windscreen washer engine.
- Remember to install a new bushing when reassembling. It often leads to the fact that the washer pump itself breaks. So the old bushing goes to the landfill.
- Assemble the unit in reverse order. Here many craftsmen relax, because they consider the work done. In fact, reassembly causes more problems than dismantling. Advice from someone who has made similar mistakes. That is, from me. Do not try to memorize the location of parts if you are not sure about the capabilities of your memory. Distracted by something, forgotten, confused. This happens to everyone, and there is nothing wrong with that. For the correct sequence of reassembly, you can record, mark or mark the parts in the order they were removed. This will simplify the task of assembling everything as it was before.
The instructions are for informational purposes only, as the procedure may differ depending on the car model. Consult your machine's manual for assistance. This is the best visual aid for DIY repair.
There is nothing difficult in this work. Even the car owner who prefers to solve most of the problems with the help of a car service can easily cope with it. Repair costs several hundred rubles and takes a few hours maximum.

Repairing the windshield washer motor (or rear window, or headlight washer) is quite possible, but many drivers are forced to buy a new motor, which costs more than two thousand for some foreign cars. In addition, replacing a new motor in some kind of auto service can cost about a thousand rubles. In this article, we will take a closer look at how to restore the normal operation of the windshield washer motor, or the headlight washer motor, with our own hands - the principle of operation and the device are almost the same, which means that there are also malfunctions.
If the washer breaks down, both glass and headlights, of course, it becomes uncomfortable and unsafe to drive, and since in most regions, wet and slushy weather occurs almost all year round, it becomes rather tedious to use a cloth and a bottle of water, yes and it is undignified, especially if the car is not cheap.
Of course, for some inexpensive foreign cars and domestic cars, the washer motor is not expensive and it is easier to replace it with a new one than to pick the old one, but for some imported cars of reputable brands, spare parts are still quite expensive. Therefore, it makes sense to restore the glass washer of such cars on our own, and the repair can take very little time. And we will talk below how to make it at home.
Faulty glass washer or headlights.
The main malfunction from which the glass washer or headlight washer stops working in the future is the wear of the rubber oil seal that sits on the electric motor shaft and separates the electric motor itself from the part of the washer in which the impeller is located and the liquid for spraying the glass is constantly present (or circulates). When the stuffing box is worn out, liquid begins to seep between it and the shaft and enters the cavity of the electric motor, as well as on the bushings and the armature shaft.
As a result, corrosion appears on the electric motor shaft and its bushings (and not only), from which the motor armature shaft jams (especially when the washer is not used for several days) and the motor stops working. Getting rid of such a malfunction is not difficult at all, but for this, as the surgeons say, an autopsy is required.
Of course, you can simply develop a shaft by removing the impeller from the shaft and rotating it manually, but this is not for long and it is better to disassemble everything, clean, restore the mobility of the motor armature shaft and then lubricate the bushings and assemble the pump.
Most windscreen washer pumps are not demountable and the plastic housing is sealed at the factory. But you can open the case with a hacksaw blade for metal, if you gently walk it in a circle in the area of the case step. Why in the area of the steps, and not in the middle of the case? Because the step on the body will allow you to cut exactly, focusing on it, and with further assembly it will be more convenient to solder (or glue) the body exactly in the area of the step.
Having cut the washer body, carefully disconnect its halves with a screwdriver (or knife) - see photo 1, while after disconnecting the plastic case, you need to remove the stator (see photo 2 below) and carefully remove the anchor from it (more precisely, its collector) from the brushes of the electric motor without bending the brush plates. The disassembled pump is shown in photo 2 below.
Next, we remove corrosion from the cavity of the electric motor, but especially thoroughly clean (to shine) the armature roller in the area of its friction in the bushings - see photos 3 and 4 below, and also clean the bushings themselves from oxides with fine sandpaper. After stripping, we check the free rotation of the electric motor armature in the stator bushings (housing).
After removing the corrosion and having achieved free rotation of the armature, now it is necessary to put in order the culprit of the malfunction - that is, the oil seal, which is worn out and allows fluid to pass through.
It is not so easy to buy a new oil seal, as it is rather small. Although, if you wish, you can find small oil seals on sale, for example, in stores (or workshops) for the repair of household appliances.
If you cannot find the oil seal, you can cut it out of thick sheet rubber using two notches. Of course, the thickness of the rubber sheet should be the same as the height of your worn-out oil seal, the outer diameter, too, and for the inner diameter you should choose a notch of such a diameter so that after cutting out the hole turns out to be slightly smaller (by a couple of hundred square meters) than the outer diameter of the armature roller.
Well, the outer diameter of the homemade oil seal should be such that the oil seal fits tightly into its bore hole in the washer housing.
After removing the corrosion, grease the stator bushings with grease and carefully insert the armature into the stator bushings, while making sure that the armature collector gets between the two brushes. When the motor is assembled, we do not yet install it in the plastic case of the washer pump, but we check its operation by connecting two wires to the terminals of the motor and to the battery directly.
If the motor starts working, then, when installing the assembled motor in the plastic housing of the windscreen washer pump, make sure that the groove on the armature shaft falls into place in the pump (during installation, turn the shaft to the right to the left until it falls into place).
Another malfunction of the washer pump is a jamming of the valve piston, which is located inside some pumps that pump fluid not only to the windshield, but also to the rear window - see the video below. The main reason for such a malfunction is dirt trapped between the piston and the cylinder, which is washed out after disassembly and everything returns to normal.
Well, if the windshield (or headlight) washer pump is working - you can hear it from the sound, but the liquid is not sprayed onto the glass, then most likely the nozzles or their hoses are clogged with dirt. After cleaning, everything starts working, but so that such a nuisance does not happen again, it is advisable to remove and rinse the tank and hoses (if there is dirt or flakes in the tank from poor-quality anti-freeze).
By the way, a mesh filter is installed in front of the inlet hose of some washer pumps, which is often clogged with dirt or flakes from poor-quality anti-freezing liquid. After flushing the mesh (as well as the reservoir), the washer motor and its pump starts to pump normally.
Again, the most pressing topic for car owners in the spring is the problem with the wiper, as well as with the windshield or rear window washer. I hope that this material will help you when solving the problem with the VAZ 2110 and the windshield washer!
Windshield washer is one of the most useful inventions, which is designed to make life easier for a car enthusiast. While the site is working properly and clearly performing its functions, rarely anyone pays attention to it. But as soon as the windshield washer breaks down, problems in operation immediately appear.
For example, in wet weather, driving behind a vehicle will quickly contaminate the glass surface. As a result, the visibility becomes zero. If the washer is working properly, then a few simple manipulations will solve the problem. And if not? In such a situation, you have to stop the car every 100-200 meters and wash the windshield by hand.
All problems with the windshield washer can be roughly divided into two types - mechanical and electrical. Let's take a look at each of the options:
- Mechanical failures are the most common concern for the motorist. These include:
- an empty tank with washer fluid. For many newbies, this is indeed a problem. Instead of checking for the presence of liquid in a special container, they rush to the service station, where they endure a lot of smiles in their address. Therefore, start by checking the reservoir. If it is empty, top up the anti-freeze.
At the same time, keep in mind that in winter only an anti-freeze should be used as a washer fluid. Ordinary water will simply freeze and, naturally, will not be able to help in cleaning the windshield. If you made such a nonsense, then leave the car overnight in a warm garage (or warm up the engine). After the ice has thawed, the water must be drained and replaced with an anti-freeze;
- flew off the hose. It is no secret that the liquid is supplied to the windshield through special hoses. If the latter jump out of their place, then the washer does not reach the nozzles. Another popular problem is pinched hoses when closing the hood or installation errors;
- nozzles are clogged. The liquid (after passing through the tubes) enters the windshield through the thin spray holes of the nozzles. If the latter are dirty, then the devices work partially or do not perform their function at all. In such a situation, it is necessary to disconnect the hose from the nozzle and make sure that the washer is supplied at normal pressure. If everything is fine here, then the reason is in the jets. The latter, in turn, can be cleaned or replaced.
- Electrical faults. It must be remembered that mechanical problems are not the only ones in the operation of washers. Malfunctions can also occur in the electrical part:
- fuse blown. If, when the washer is turned on, the booster pump does not show any signs of "life", then the reason may be in the fuse-link through which the device is powered. Find the fuse box in the car, study the manual and find the number you need. Check the fuse (replace if necessary);
- the clamps are oxidized. Often the problem is at the pump terminals. There are situations when the switching wires are oxidized by moisture or even fall off altogether. In such a situation, the problem is solved simply - it is enough to restore the wiring;
- the switch is out of order. If the washer engine (pump) does not work, and the fuse is intact, then check the device switch (it is located on the steering column). Conduct a small diagnosis. Turn on the ignition and ask your partner to start the washer. In this case, go to the motor yourself and check the presence of voltage on it. If there is voltage, but the pump still does not work, then it needs to be replaced.
In the case when the voltage is not supplied to the node, the reasons may be as follows - the switch is out of order, the relay to turn on the device does not work, or the wiring itself is faulty (for example, the wires are cut off or the contact is oxidized).
Let's say you did a little system diagnostics and came to the conclusion that the cause of the problems is the washer motor. In such a situation, the best way out is to replace it. I would like to note right away that this work will take no more than 10-15 minutes, so there is no need to go to the service station and spend money.
The sequence of actions should be as follows:
- Remove the supply terminals from the pump.
- Unscrew the washer reservoir retaining screws and remove it.
- Throw away the terminals and pull up and take out the pump with the electric motor.
- Examine the elastic carefully for damage or tears. If the elastic is clearly worn out, then it is better to change it.
- Put the new motor pump in the same place.
- Replace the tank and connect the terminals.
- Check the functionality of the device.
If the engine starts to work, the liquid is pumped up and the nozzles spray it efficiently on the windshield, then the work can be considered successful. If the system works, and the sprayers do not cope with their task, then they must be replaced.
But there are options here. You can install a standard version of the nozzle or slightly optimize the system - put double or fan nozzles. If desired, you can install injectors from a foreign car. The main thing here is that they clearly fit the connector.
To increase the coverage area of the washer, you can install an additional nozzle, transfer the nozzles to the hood, or mount fan-type nozzles instead of standard nozzles (we have already talked about this).
In addition, to improve the quality of the washer, the factory pipes are often changed to better ones (in this case, the problem of liquid freezing in winter is solved). In particular, special aquarium tubes can be used for such work.
