Nokia 7230 DIY repair

DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
1) Disassembly of the Nokia 7230 phone.

Important! Everything that you do - do it at your own risk. Remember: After disassembling the device, you will void the manufacturer's warranty.
2) To disassemble, you need the Nokia Standard Toolkit version 2. You also need the SS-88 camera eject tool, an audio headset plug, and a charger plug.

4) Remove the two screws with a TORX Plus 4 star screwdriver in the order shown. Please note that these screws can be reused.
Don't throw them away.

5) Remove the 4 screws with a TORX Plus 6 star screwdriver in the order shown. Throw away these screws, do not reuse them.

6) Open the cover of the USB connector.

7) Using the SS-93 tool, open the slider mount latch.

8) Also open the latch on the other side.

9) After that, you can remove the lower part of the phone case.

10) Open the board-to-board connector using the SS-93 tool. Be careful! Do not damage the connector or surrounding components.

11) To remove the motherboard from the slider, first lift it up at the bottom edge and pull in the direction shown.

12) Open the two latches of the alphanumeric keyboard module using the SS-93 tool.

13) The alphanumeric keyboard module can now be removed.

14) Pry a corner of the keyboard backing with a dental probe. Remove the alphanumeric keyboard backing. The liner cannot be reused and will have to be discarded.

15) Open the camera mount latches by pushing in with the SS-88 Camera Release Tool. Raise the SS-88 and remove the camera.

16) Remove the USB connector cover.

17) Pry out the charger connector with the charger plug. Pull out the connector with tweezers.

18) Pry out the audio headset connector with the audio headset plug. Then remove it with tweezers.

19) Pry the microphone with the dental probe and remove it with tweezers. The microphone cannot be reused, so you will have to discard it.

20) Press down on the antenna module.

21) Remove the antenna module. The antenna module cannot be reused, so it must be discarded as well.

22) Insert the SRT-6 tool (or credit card) into the slot between the bezel and the slider to release the bezel latches on the side and bottom.

23) Also release the latches on the other side of the bezel using the SRT-6 tool. Lift up and remove the bezel.

24) Stick the protective film on the LCD screen.

25) Pry the speaker with a dental probe. Be careful! Do not cut yourself on the sharp end of the dental probe.

26) Remove the speaker with tweezers.

27) Gently pry the LCD screen with the dental probe. Then remove the LCD screen with the SS-93 tool. Be careful! Be careful not to hit the display cable with the sharp end of the dental probe to avoid damage.

29) Flip the LCD over and unclip the display ribbon cable lock. Be careful! Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable connector.

28) Pull the LCD screen in the direction shown and remove. Check if the screen is bent. If the screen is intact, it can be reused. And if you damage it, you will have to throw it away.

30) Nokia 7230 disassembly is now complete.

ASSEMBLY TIPS

1) Tighten the 4 TORX Plus size 6 screws with a 20 Ncm torque screwdriver in the order shown.

2) Tighten the two TORX Plus size 4 screws with an 18 Ncm torque screwdriver in the order shown.

18. Press down on the antenna module.

19. Remove the antenna module. The antenna module cannot be reused, so it must be discarded as well.

20. Insert the SRT-6 tool (or credit card) into the slot between the bezel and the slider to release the bezel latches on the side and bottom.

27. Pull the LCD screen in the direction shown and remove. Check if the screen is bent. If the screen is intact, it can be reused. And if you damage it, you will have to throw it away.
