Peugeot 3008 DIY repair

Details: Peugeot 3008 DIY repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

I remembered one more thing. Immediately after 20 thousand km of run, traces of oil began to appear on the valve cover, more and more. I replaced the valve cover gasket, but that was enough for 8-10 thousand km, then it “flooded” again and even more. The dealer's advice is to replace the valve cover, since supposedly on these machines they are from the factory with a technical defect. As a result, he did not change it, but once again replaced the gasket (it was included in the set of service work to replace the timing chain).

To all dear dromovodov, hello!

I haven't written anything for a long time, I hope you got bored.

After replacing the turbine and repairing the injection pump, the following happened:

The vacuum pump (the one that took the used one) has broken down. When replacing with a new one, the servicemen were surprised by the valves clogged to zero, the verdict - all the same ghouls from Renissance who did not replace the oil filter. Replaced, remembered them with a kind word.

The injection pump started to malfunction, I came to MadPistons, those guys who restored both the injection pump and the turbine, cleaned the engine the last time. Changed to another reconditioned one, it turns out that I was the firstborn to whom they repaired.

The high-pressure fuel pump broke down - the reason is not clear, apparently a small resource and how lucky, judging by the logic, this is a fuel pump, 95-98 Lukoil, Gazprom, sometimes Rosneft were always refueled. New 25-27 tr.

The fact that the fuel injection pump ends up knew, understood, but refused to believe, AS SO KARL, the fuel pump KARL. as he could. But no, I could, like ours without doping. )))

The car was not moving, the gas was on the floor and there was no dynamics. Then something began to whistle, rattle. I went to my vaunted Renissance service, which is in the Moscow shopping center on Kashirka.

This Peugeot 3008 had to be unloaded from the tow truck directly to the lift due to a broken wheel

Image - Peugeot 3008 DIY repair

It turned out that the ball joint had been torn out of the steering knuckle (shown by red arrows). This happened because when replacing the ball in a non-core service, it was screwed in "by hand" and not "locked". The drive was also thrown out of the box. On the way, the car's wheel broke. Miraculously, the accident did not happen.

On engines - all sores inherent in EP6. We have written a lot about this, you can read here and here. If you have an increased oil consumption - about this here. As a rule, increased oil consumption is associated with a short service life of the valve stem seals. If your car starts to “eat up” oil, it is better to change the valve stem seals until the oil burns out in the cylinders spoiled the catalyst and covered the exhaust valves. This can be done without removing the cylinder head. You can watch a short video about this yourself, which we have made especially for you.

I would also like to add a few words about the Peugeot 3008 with the EP6DT turbo engine. Such cars should not be bought by housewives who love a relaxed driving style. The turbo engine requires that his "horses" are often given free rein, he periodically needs to "give gas" from the heart. Otherwise, the engine quickly becomes clogged with resinous deposits, the valves become covered with carbon deposits.
We can also note the weakness of the seals on the doors. They often flow.

1) compared the engine compartment of gasoline and diesel.

The difference is in the location of the air filter. On a diesel engine, the housing cover is visible and you can easily change the filter yourself. In gasoline, the filter housing at the partition -

In diesel - closer to the nose. Is it really easy to remove the case cover (only screws)?

2) where is the cabin filter and how can you change it yourself? It would be nice to have a photo report, etc.

3) how to remove the battery - I did not quite understand (if it is discharged and needs to be brought home for charging).

Rather, I realized that it is not easy to do this, because and on top of the battery there are some elements, and on the side (at the end), if you look at the battery from the nose of the car.

Moreover, OD began to scare. that if you remove the battery yourself, then some of the factory settings of the display may fly off, etc. Therefore, it is better not to remove it yourself and call a tow truck - take the car to the service because of the battery. This is not normal.

Is there really such a risk?

I think that the "factory settings" will not be able to fly off when the power is turned off. Moreover, the “factory settings of the display”.))

Where is the diesel fuel filter located? Maybe someone has already changed?

igorkzn , Igor, if there is any question, it is not necessary to create a separate topic for it. There is a topic about engines, write there.

It is easy for the Japanese to change, but here it is necessary to lift the bonnet seal and remove the sound insulation of the engine compartment.

It cannot be so difficult to change the filter. Fedya will ask OD tomorrow.

It seems truncated.

Does the firmware on the GU change? Is the update free or do I have to pay?

antoshka32161 , well, for you, as a potential owner of SCM - free of charge, for the rest - a) for OD it is paid, b) through the Internet, if everything goes well, for free. c) If it does not get up well, then the OD is very paid.

- auto tilt of mirrors when reversing

What's wrong with the mirrors? This function works for me, through the menu you can turn it on and off

Do you need to update often? Expensive procedure?

Well, how often depends on the frequency of updates. I will clarify the cost.

There are also revocable ones - they sew for free. Concerns not only the State University, but also the BSI and others.

- auto tilt of mirrors when reversing
Isn't that so?

also ask about removing the battery and whether something will fly off in the settings, which then you can not restore it yourself? And what needs to be removed beforehand in order to further remove the battery itself?

The French have overslept the topic of all-wheel drive forever. For them, a car with a 4 × 4 wheel arrangement was incomprehensible before and has remained so to this day.

The intellect of fragile Europe, and France in particular, cannot comprehend the meaning of all-wheel drive. They do not understand and will hardly ever understand why it is necessary to drive a car rowing with all four on asphalt or flat dirt road. After all, this is an overpayment first when buying a car, then when servicing, operating and repairing it. Not rational! Expensive!

But when the traditional idea of an all-wheel drive car changed and it became clear that not only a frame SUV or an executive sedan, but also a practical, slightly raised above the road (i.e. with increased ground clearance) car with light controllability, all those who have in their arsenal there was no all-wheel drive realized their mistake. Especially after a social order appeared for such machines, which accordingly increased demand and attention.

The French brand Peugeot, together with the PSA-related Citroen, did not have all-wheel drive either. But the wave of increased interest in light SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) crossovers made the French think ... The choice fell on Mitsubishi - they know a lot about real off-road, cross-country ability and competent all-wheel drive transmission. However, it was impossible to destroy Europe with severe off-road vehicles of the Pajero, Pajero Sport, L200 format. And PSA understood this. As a result, the French took the mediocre Outlander XL as a basis, and then the frankly unsuccessful ASX, making them their Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser, as well as the Peugeot 4008 and Citroen C4 Aircross, respectively.

Stop! But a tangible part of Europe wants a crossover and does not always dream of all-wheel drive. They just want a versatile car with a slightly taller roof and a little more ground clearance. Four-wheel drive is not at all a mandatory attribute in the list of their desires. The French are quite capable of making such a car on their own, especially since in their hearts they know that the SUVs of their partners are not masterpieces. It was then that the recipe matured. Take a mid-size passenger car from the existing model range and make a mono-drive SUV on its basis.

The Peugeot 3008 crossover was created on the platform of the 308 hatchback - it has the same power structure of the body, the same motors and, apart from the hybrid version, only front-wheel drive, like the hatchback. It is noteworthy that only Peugeot decided on such a car within the concern.Citroen did nothing of the kind, leaving only analogs of Japanese cars in the crossover camp. Although with the advent of the Citroen DS4, marketers of the brand plucked up the audacity and announced that this is also a crossover.
The 3008 is a real Frenchman in almost everything. In "Peugeot" they made it exclusively on their own. The only appearance of the car was not French, even though the French also painted it. But the French are different, still from the old design team, who came up with a hypertrophied mouth, which eventually passed on to the bumpers of all Peugeot models. Now sabotage against "Peugeot" was stopped and a team of designers from the brotherly "Citroen" was sent to save the company, who had previously returned the brand to its former style and aesthetics with their skill. Therefore, there is a hope that the forthcoming restyled Peugeot 3008 should become more harmonious and balanced.

The interior of the 3008 is made with French grace and German quality. The instrument panel is a sight for sore eyes! The visor flowing into the center console is an appropriate addition! Angled ventilation deflectors in the center - a continuation of the style! The front passenger grab bar on the center console is a clever embodiment of design and practicality all rolled into one! All this beauty is made of quality materials and, moreover, is perfectly assembled. And how it sits in the cabin of the Peugeot 3008! Excellent seats with a solid set of adjustments and exemplary ergonomics clearly increase the degree of pleasure from owning a car. All controls are close at hand. The manual transmission lever is especially conveniently installed.

And if you do not stand still and drive ... Fine-tuning the chassis and driving characteristics have always been a strong point of the Peugeot brand. French engineers know how to make sure that the car does not shake on bumps and pleases with handling on smooth asphalt! Cars with a turbocharged engine (1.6L 150HP) are equipped with Dynamic Rolling Control by default. Thanks to her, on a straight line, the shock absorbers work in a comfortable mode, and in turns, with the help of a clever system of valves and hydraulic cylinders, they become stiffer. Steering is similarly fine-tuned! The 3008th standard follows the driver! The car is always obedient and predictable.

For such a taut chassis, an equally peppy turbo is ideal. This is the same engine made by the efforts of Peugeot-Citroen, BMW. The turbine is paired with a 1600 cc engine. 150 forces of this unit are always enough with a margin. Alas, such favorable technical characteristics affected the resource of the motor. The cars of the first years frightened by the insignificance of the run, passed before the forced repair. More recent cars on their background did not look killable, but in fact they also did not shine with reliability, like a similar aspirated 1.6 liter (120 hp). Moreover, with each new model of the concern, this engine becomes deeper and deeper a part of PSA's history. All the latest models of the concern without fail have this motor - excellent in characteristics and clearly not problem-free in real life and operation.

Surprisingly, the 3008, despite its front-wheel drive essence, is actually a crossover and not just a passenger car! Even the mono-drive chassis of the 3008, subject to an intelligent driver and the presence of the Grip Control system, which independently controls the electronics, depending on the selected mode ("standard", "snow", "mud", "sand"), the car can climb along a slippery country road with variable relief.

The starting price for the Peugeot 3008 in Russia is 799,000 rubles. It is a naturally aspirated car with 120 hp 1.6 petrol and a five-speed manual transmission as standard Access. Interestingly, even for the basic version, a 1.6 diesel engine (112 hp) is also available. The cheapest 3008 with such an engine costs 939,000 rubles. The next in the hierarchy version of Active is estimated at a minimum of 834,000 rubles. A car in the same configuration, but with a 1.6 turbo (150 hp) costs 934,000 rubles.

It is curious that the surcharge for a copy with an Aisin assault rifle is zero. It also sells for the same $ 934,000 as the mechanic car. The Allure, top-of-the-line for all Peugeot cars, raises the price of the crossover to at least 1,064,000 rubles. These are the prices for cars in fixed configurations, without metallic paint and all kinds of options.

The crossover camp is extremely large! And 3008 has a lot of rivals. But Peugeot can only be fully compared with front-wheel drive versions of competitors. Although there are also a lot of them.

1. Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI (2WD). Skoda Yeti is the first crossover of the Czech brand. Volkswagen Tiguan was taken as a basis for "Yeti". In Russia, the Yeti is available in both mono and all-wheel drive versions. For the crossover, several 1.2 petrol engines (105 hp) have been proposed; 1.4 (122 hp) and 1.8 (152 hp - only with four-wheel drive).

2. VW Tiguan. The compact crossover Volkswagen Tiguan of the first generation debuted at the end of 2007. And in 2011, the production model underwent restyling, during which the car changed its face. Engines for Tiguan are typical for Volkswagen: petrol - 1.4TSI (122 HP or 150 HP) and 2.0TSI (170 HP or 200 HP), as well as diesel 2.0 l. (140 hp). With the weakest engine "Tiguan" is front-wheel drive.
