In detail: do-it-yourself repair of a nissan pathfinder automatic transmission from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
The infamous RE5 gearbox regularly poses problems to owners of Japanese cars Nissan and Infiniti. The all-wheel drive Nissan Pathfinder, loved by many, was no exception. With enviable regularity on the forum there is a discussion on the repair of an automatic transmission of a 5-speed Jatco. With the consent of the car service, we will publish educational materials that were previously inaccessible to us. This also applies to Nissan Patrol, Infinti EX35, FX35, FX45, FX37, QX56, QX50, QX70, QX80. So let's go.
Pathfinder 2007 Gasoline 4 liters. At 3500 rpm, it barely picks up 100 km / h. No check is burning. When switching to manual mode, it shows the 4th speed and manually can be switched to 5th speed, but nothing really changes at all. A few days ago, I barely climbed onto a tow truck - it drives speed, but there is no thrust. There is a suspicion of a box. But there is no error or message on the devices. Is it a box? Thanks in advance! Edward.
The answer of the master> Yes - very similar to a malfunction in your 5-speed automatic transmission Jatco, there may not be any errors. Take a closer look, the site also has information about the repair of the CVT on the Pathfinder in the last body.
Tell me - on the Pathfinder 2.5 diesel 2007 onwards. after a complete stop, a jolt (thump) is heard from behind. If, without releasing the brake pedal (until the moment the brake pedal is fully depressed), drive a little, about 20 cm, and then stop again, then again there is a barely perceptible jolt (knock). Thanks for the answer. Oleg
Answer: it is difficult to remotely diagnose this malfunction, perhaps it is not in the automatic transmission. If possible, then come - we will do the diagnostics and at the same time you can take part in the action "Oil change in automatic transmission" as a gift.

Nissan Tiida 2008 onwards variator (cvt), mileage 160t.km. We changed the oil in the variator by 150t.km. We poured our native oil - NS3 on the official service (brought from Moscow). Goes backwards, not always in front. The reason is not clear. You add gas, but it doesn't go. If he goes, he goes. And then it happens, it will stand and again does not go. The electronics did not issue any errors (at the same Nissan center). Here's a story. What do you advise? Any ideas? Or questions. Alexei
Hello. I have a Nissan Teana 2, 2010, a variator. Such a question: when starting off at a traffic light, a failure occurs, the car barely starts, dulls for 2 seconds, barely starts, then gradually starts to accelerate. And at speed, when you press the gas, there is a rebase, and then acceleration. The oil level is normal, what could it be? Or is this normal for this CVT? When I just start and get under way (hot or cold - no difference) - there is no failure. Alyona

Guys tell me, I could not understand what kind of box I have. Help anyone with what you can. In general, at first, the box rarely went into an accident, but now it has gone into an accident and it leaves almost immediately after starting the engine. Do you guys check the outside first? Let's split the whole everything clean, everything is in order. At the Nissan forum there is a LEGEND that this can happen because of the fuel valve on the injection pump, and because of it, the automatic transmission goes into an accident, what do you think about this?
Just removing the pallet, valve body and the box itself, you want to push it to the last thing

What are the preliminary assumptions about the malfunction? I repeat, the box at first rarely went into an accident, but now, after 20 meters, it immediately falls into an accident. Even though I did a self-diagnosis, but nevertheless. no errors on the motor were detected (and that is, a bike that the injection pump valve can lead the box into an accident). There is one error in the box “6-forward brake solenoid valve”.
What is it and where to dig? Is it possible to get off with a little blood, well, it seems like the solenoid wiring or itself may be damaged. I'm waiting for your answers. Although I am not a specialist and have never climbed into machines, alas, I have no choice, I have to climb myself. While the car is standing on the pit, nothing has merged or removed.
By the way, about the box model, I also always leaned that I have a RE5R05A. But on the site Aggregatka.ru I saw a contradiction here is the link https://my.housecope.com/wp-content/uploads/ext/51/model-akpp/item/384-nissan
Guys help explain please, the car is 2.5 Spaniard
There, according to the list, you will see that according to their version it is RE5R01A and not RE5R05A. At least tell me what the difference is. how to decipher the marking?

In the event of a major overhaul, the gearbox is removed from the vehicle. At this stage, the mechanic carefully examines the condition of all systems serving the gearbox, power unit mounting supports, etc.
After dismantling from the car, the automatic transmission goes to the overhaul area. It should be noted that on this site, as well as on all previous ones, experienced craftsmen who have a higher technical education (engineering and physical) work. Here the Nissan Pathfinder automatic transmission is repaired, and after washing and drying all parts, their fault detection is carried out, i.e. the possibility of further use of each part or the need for its replacement is determined.
If desired, any customer can be present both during the disassembly of the gearbox and during the fault detection of its parts. At the end of this procedure, a list of replacement parts is drawn up, which is then necessarily agreed with the customer. It should be especially noted that during a major overhaul, it is necessary, regardless of the state of the automatic transmission, to replace all seals and gaskets. The use of original spare parts only from manufacturers of gearboxes increases the service life of a repaired Nissan Pathfinder automatic transmission, but leads to a significant increase in the cost of spare parts. To achieve the most optimal combination of price-quality ratio allows the use of aftermarket parts, i.e. companies specializing in the production of spare parts for automatic transmissions.
Installation is carried out taking into account all technical requirements. At this stage, the failed mounting elements and auxiliary transmission service systems are replaced. In addition, during installation, preliminary adjustments are made to the elements of the external part of the control system.
Output diagnostics and car break-in. They are carried out using the same techniques as the entrance diagnostics. In addition, all previously existing fault codes are erased from the memory of the control unit.
If you need a very urgent answer, it is best to call. Ask a Question
Hello, pathfinder 2006, 2.5 diesel, mileage 280,000, when starting off the gas to the floor, but it accelerates very slowly, more than a hundred does not go, gear shifting occurs at 4 thousand with a tail, there are no errors, the diagnosis shows a difference of about 250 rpm idle (some slippage)
... WHAT TO DO?
You have a cap. repair or replacement. Fur. damage.
Story: Fishing trip, vydovy nissanchik, mud. They kneaded for a long time and thoughtfully.At some point, the box refused to quickly turn the wheels back. Attempts were made, but sluggish, and at increased engine speeds. As a result, the car was dug up and pulled out, but even after the box cooled down, the reverse gear did not appear. It was, but only on a flat road and it feels like the box is skidding a lot Everything was normal with the movement.
Theory: During the excavations and the subsequent trip, that just did not think. The most suitable option is overheating of the automatic transmission fluid. However, this option assumes, in the same way, the axle boxes of the box when moving forward. And of course, the thought came to me about the automatic transmission breaking down, well, you never know everything that can break down.
Repair Attempt 1: Replacing the automatic transmission fluid. It gave a result - the reverse gear became more pronounced, but again only on a flat surface and if you press the accelerator pedal. In general, replacing the slurry did not give anything.
Search in manuals and forums: All searches, as before, led to the conclusion that the reverse friction discs had become unusable as a result of oil overheating or other factors (looking ahead - others).
A decision was made to extract, disassemble, troubleshoot and repair the automatic transmission right in the garage.
Organized with a relative, and flooded, the car on a half-meter bakulka with a jack. The garage is equipped with a pit, so it rushed: there is no photo, but in short, everything is according to the manual, all the hoses, all the wires were disconnected, from below everything that could be disconnected, the cardan shaft and everything in general. There is no hook in the garage, so we thought that we would wake up and put the box with our hands, we thought that it weighs 50 kilograms, maximum 70, and together we can definitely remove and short-circuit it back. They intended to shoot on a jack and a board across the pit. Oh, I'll tell you, shooting without hanging is still a pleasure. They squirmed for a long time, hard, the box was lowered on a jack, initially it was held on pillows and a pair of engine bolts.
After they jacked up the engine and the box with two jacks, they began to unscrew the pillow and the box from the engine (the flywheel was unscrewed in advance, there are technological holes, in general - all according to the manual ). They unscrewed, but no, something prevents the box from sinking into them - according to the manual, it is simply taken out down. as a result, they found 2 more bolts for the engine and 1 motor - gearbox. Unscrewed - somehow it is all the same bad, probably stuck - and indeed, and on the guides it sits to the engine. Tugged. the box is unstuck, removed from the guides, we tensed. We pulled ourselves together, compensated for the box with the weight of the jack and began to lower it. It was a huge mistake not to remove the drives from the hubs - although they were not in the boxes, they interfered and resisted a lot and did not allow the box to be lowered and there was nowhere to put them. We tried to unscrew the hub nut in the process, it did not work, one - not from hand. As a result, one of us held the box on a jack, the second unscrewed the hub from the rack so that by tilting the steering knuckle we could remove the drive to the side so that it would not interfere.
The drive was removed only one, the second was supposed to be pulled out in the process. Yeah. They unscrewed one rack (the steering tips were already dismantled), tilted the entire hub and removed the entire drive from the box, then again the descent and recess of the second drive, the second sat deep in the box and to take it out of the box, the entire box was also moved towards the arch. In general, they barely took out a long drive, a box on a piece of wood, and it weighs a lot together with a gearbox.
Then they carried the box to the street and, using a mini-washer, at least washed it a little, plugging the holes with rags. Then a box on a specially prepared table for parsing.
The manual assumes 88 points for disassembling the box, but what we need is a large-knot disassembly to gears with clutches. At first, they did not start according to the manual, in the end it turned out to be the wrong side, only one bolt was broken off (I did not want to unscrew, then the wrong side was grabbed by a couple of bolts until the moment of collection)
Unscrewed the oil pan, photo from this moment. Some comments along the way of the photos:
The best way to get your car's automatic transmission repaired is by consulting an expert.On the other hand, there are situations when you have to deal with the repair of this unit yourself. Perhaps it happened where it is too expensive to call a tow truck, or it is necessary to correct the situation very urgently.
If you take on the repair of a Nissan automatic transmission with your own hands, then you must first carry out a diagnosis. The equipment for this is easily delivered to your garage and the procedure takes place fairly quickly. Depending on the state of the box, you will have to make a decision to remove it.
Do not be upset if there is no way to put the car in the hole. A flat surface will do, although normal lighting will be needed. The principle of removing the box for any Nissan model is approximately the same. Therefore, you will have to take the following basic steps:
- Remove the battery and air filter;
- Disconnect the wiring chips that interfere with getting to the starter;
- Carefully unscrew the two starter mounting bolts and remove it from the socket;
- Then get to the fluid coupling and remove it;
- We remove the wheels, jack up the front end, drain all the liquid from the box;
- We disconnect the drives, put the bars, disconnect all the bolts of the box and carefully remove it.
Between these operations, you will have to tinker with the side members, the gearshift cup, and the battery support. All this is quite doable, and, in the end, the automatic transmission will be "free".
In the presence of components, it is not difficult to make repairs to the Nissan Maxima automatic transmission with your own hands, but you must be extremely careful when disassembling. When removing the valve body, you will almost certainly damage the gasket, so purchase a repair kit before repairing.
Problems with the valve body arise from improper operation without warming up the machine, especially in winter. As a result, there will be shocks and shocks, which will have to be immediately disposed of.
An indicator of a serious automatic transmission malfunction can be a large amount of shavings on the trap magnets and contamination of the oil with friction dust. Most likely, any of the moving parts of the box has reached critical wear or even burst. To avoid costly repairs, it is necessary to revise the unit and replace defective parts.
When repairing an automatic transmission with your own hands on a Nissan Pathfinder car, you do not have to be guided by any peculiarities. The procedure for removal and installation will remain almost the same as for other models. If the box began to work in emergency mode, then this is a signal for the need to make diagnostics.
During diagnostics, errors are identified, by which the nature of the box malfunction is easily found out. This can be damage to the tracks in the "brains" of the box, breakage of springs, lubricant leakage due to deterioration of the quality of the gaskets. With sufficient experience in repair work and the availability of components, you can cope with malfunctions that require the replacement of certain parts.
Even with the most accurate diagnostics, it is possible that you will be faced with the need to replace a part that you did not expect to break. For example, accumulator springs. In the absence of such a trifle, all repair work can get up. You can get out of the situation by selecting a similar spring from the old technology. You can even bite off a few extra turns with such a forced replacement.
Doing it yourself will take more time than doing it in a workshop, but you will be pleased with the reward for your patience and perseverance.

Self-diagnosis gives code 2 - direct clutch solenoid?
look from below - which connector goes into the automatic transmission, if it's green with three tails, you need a mirror and a flashlight, look where the wire goes into the case.

By the way, as Tsefirovody wrote, there are adjusting screws on two solenoids, this can be seen in the photo.
The cogs, that is, but adjusting something will not work, they are very stuck, such as double punching
And to remove the valve body, it is enough to actually unscrew 14 bolts, 2 on the filter, and almost in a circle 12, since the filter, with the main number of bolts, is screwed only to the valve body, but there is an option to pour oil on it, since after removing the filter, from the unit another 300 grams of oil is poured out
, just by unscrewing the bolts, remember where these bolts come from, otherwise there are 4 types of lengths, the longest .. go to the filter, good luckNissan Pathfinder car attracts attention with its presentable and impressive appearance, however, the operation of this car also does not disappoint. Cross-country ability, reliability, comfort - all these qualities are fully inherent in this brand. And although its owners cannot name any significant shortcomings, sooner or later, it will still need repair, since time and road do their destructive work. One of the most difficult technical procedures is automatic transmission repair Nissan Pathfinder, and until recently, car owners, faced with its need, found themselves in a difficult situation. The fact is that a few years ago, qualified automatic transmission repairs in Tver were done in a few services, and in order to get there, it was necessary to spend a lot of time waiting.
Today this type of service, like the repair of variators in Tver, can be found quite easily, and for the most part the level of performance of this service is high. This is due to the fact that the volume of cars with transmissions of this type arriving for repair is very large, and each decent car service, striving to keep up with competitors, purchased equipment and trained personnel.
Generally automatic transmission repair Nissan Pathfinder is a technically complex event, and in order to produce it at a high level, you need to have a lot of experience and qualifications. As a rule, breakdowns of this unit are associated with the fact that the owners neglect the regular maintenance of the car, and also do not treat it carefully enough when driving. Of course, the Nissan Pathfinder is a brutal, powerful car, but this is not a reason to handle it casually and not monitor the level of transmission oil in the box. Sooner or later, the resource will be depleted, and the car will stand in the most inappropriate place for this.
Signs of an impending breakdown may be the following:
- Obviously pronounced slipping at the beginning of the movement or in its process;
- An emergency light comes on, signaling automatic transmission malfunctions;
- Sharp jerks at the moment when a gear change occurs, and this is also observed when the mode changes from low to high, and vice versa.
- Strong vibration or noise in the box area;
- Shocks and shocks in the transmission;
- The transmission is lost, the speeds are not included.
In car services where engines and other units are repaired on foreign cars, there is a sufficient technical base and properly prepared works.In them, the repair of the Nissan Pathfinder automatic transmission is carried out in several stages, and the types of malfunctions are also determined in stages.
A well-carried out diagnostics of box malfunctions makes it possible to establish the malfunction as accurately as possible and take measures to eliminate it. Of course, some types of breakdowns are immediately visible, these include, for example, the leakage of technical fluid during depressurization of individual connecting elements. In other cases, on the contrary, a thorough and lengthy diagnosis is required in order to prevent the aggravation of an existing malfunction, and to take action to prevent a breakdown. As experts grumble, in the process of repairing automatic transmissions, they have to deal with a variety of types of malfunctions. One of the most common is the wear of the angular speed joints, this is mainly due to the active use of the front-wheel drive unnecessarily. Troubleshooting will take some time, and therefore some services offer replacing the gearbox with a backup one for the period of repair.
Pathfinder came to repair with automatic transmission malfunction. The handle of the box from the parking position did not want to switch. Only after pressing the emergency switch, the machine switched to drive and reverse speed mode. To understand what is the reason, you need to partially disassemble the center console. First you need to remove the selector knob for the Nissan Pathfinder automatic transmission.
To do this, lower the decorative cover down.
In the space that opens, you will see the retaining bracket. Take it out.
After removing the bracket, the handle is freely removed from the stem.
Now we take a plastic spatula and, prying the top panel of the console, pull it off the latches.
Lifting the panel, remove the electrical connectors and put it aside.
The solenoid (electric lock) is responsible for switching the machine from the parking mode. When you press the brake pedal, open the lock. And when you press the safety button on the automatic transmission handle, we move it to the desired mode. On this Patofinder 4, this selector solenoid did not perform its work, as a result of which the box could be switched only by pressing the so-called "shift".
The solenoid itself is located on the side of the selector at the driver's foot. Four wires go to it.
When these wires were ringed, it was found that the signal from the brake pedal was present. Conclusion: replacement of salt water. Unfortunately, this unit is not sold separately, only assembled with a selector. And it costs a lot of money. It was decided to fix the electric lock in the "open" position with the help of plastic clamps, in other words, to clamp it. We assemble the console in the reverse order.
This repair is not technically correct; if you repeat it, you yourself are responsible for your car and those around you.
The valve body itself is a very accurate system, where the ingress of even a small amount of wear particles can lead to sticking of the valves in the unit, which will affect the operation of the ECU.
Repair of control units and valve bodies of automatic transmission Nissan Pathfinder is jointly performed by both our aggregators and auto electricians with experience in electronics repair.
On Pathfinder models, it is recommended to repair the valve body immediately after a malfunction is detected, since further operation of an automatic transmission with a similar malfunction may end up with a complex and expensive repair, or by replacing the valve body.
