Whether it be a sedan, hatchback or station wagon, the rear bumper is not only an integral part of our car's design, it also plays a critical role in the safety of our car: it is this detail that protects and protects us from collisions and more serious damage. As a result, it quickly loses its original appearance: scratches, chips, cracks appear.

How to remove the rear bumper on a Chevrolet Lacetti

The need to dismantle it may arise for various reasons. It is necessary to remove it for replacement, repair, repainting, installation of parking sensors, and there is not always a physical or financial opportunity to go to the salon. In this article, we will figure out how to independently dismantle, and then install back, the rear bumper on a Chevrolet Lacetti of any form factor: be it a sedan, hatchback or station wagon.

You can also find information on how to remove the Lacetti front bumper.

Important advice: before starting the dismantling procedure, we advise you to cover the car fenders with masking tape at the junction with the bumper. This measure will avoid the appearance of scratches or paint chips on the fenders as a result of dismantling.

Attention! If you are not sure that the procedure described below is within your power, we recommend that you contact the service center or ask for help from a person who has experience in these matters.

  • In order to get to all the fasteners, our sedan needs to take off a little - we remove the rear wheels (according to the official instructions). Our task is to remove the mudguards and unscrew the screws behind the cladding.

Step # 1 - Remove the wheels, remove the mudguards and unscrew the screws behind the cladding
  • Remove the trunk lining. You can just bend it to get to the bolts we need to secure the part. We unscrew the fastening bolts.

Step # 2 - Remove the trunk lining. We unscrew the fastening bolts
  • Also, our rear bumper is supported by four self-tapping screws (near the sealing gum, one self-tapping screw near each of the headlights, two in the center). We turn them off with a Phillips screwdriver.
  • The procedure is similar to the Chevrolet Lacetti sedan, but in this case, if you have a hatchback or station wagon, it is not necessary to remove the rear wheels. The gap in this case allows you to get to the cladding and the bolts we need.

Step number 1 Unscrew the screws under the wheel arches
  • In the same way as in the previous instructions, remove the mudguards and unscrew the screws behind the cladding.

Step number 2 - Unscrew the screws that are under the fender liner
  • The boot is a little different: it now has a wheel guard. It is necessary to remove its lining, the bolts we need to dismantle the part are just under it. Remove the cladding and untwist these bolts.

Step number 3 - Unscrew the screws in the trunk
  • We turn off the self-tapping screws near the sealing gum, similar to item 3 in the instructions for the notchback.

Step # 4 - Unscrew the screws along the sealing gum
  • Ready. Similarly, we pull the part towards ourselves, safely freeing it from grooves and fasteners. Your hatchback is stripped.

It doesn't matter if you have a sedan, a station wagon or a hatchback, the shockproof beam of your car, regardless of the form factor, can be removed the same way: you just need to unscrew the screws that attach it to the body. Be careful: do not forget it when re-installing it and in no case decide to refuse to install it! The anti-shock bar is the most important part, without which the rear bumper cannot serve its technical purpose.

This completes the dismantling procedure. We can safely conclude that with the tools and good lighting, it will take no more than an hour (especially if you have a hatchback and there is no need to remove the rear wheels). Installation is carried out in the same way, in reverse order. It is much more convenient to carry out this procedure together: it is difficult for one person to simultaneously hold the part evenly and tighten the bolts. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to invite someone to your assistants for an hour and a half, be sure to use it!

Removing and installing the rear bumper yourself will save you significant time and money compared to performing this procedure in the cabin. However, if you are not confident in your abilities, we advise you to contact a specialized service center.

We carry out the work during the repair and replacement of the front bumper, energy absorbing bumper beam.
The work is shown on a car with a hatchback body. Remove the engine compartment mudguards (see Removing the engine compartment mudguards) and the radiator grille (see Removing the radiator grille). We remove the block headlights (Removing the block headlight) and wheel arch liners (or disconnect their front parts - see Removing the front wheel arch liners). Disconnect the pads of the wiring harness from the fog lamps (see Removing the fog lamp).

We install the elements of the front bumper in the reverse order and check the reliability of its attachment.

this is how the golden hands of the master will look;)

vernier caliper is still a handy thing))

go see Vitos, how we went fishing)))))))

Normul turned out, it will do for the countryside!)))

"Netochnikov" got pounded - and rightly so! It's time to forget about these nets, like a bad dream!

what a fountain there is, it's practically a new bumper!

As we sometimes use the phrase at work: 3rd grade is not a marriage.

what time the work is estimated.

Vital, you were asked to show the bumper soldering from the Daewoo Nexia. And you showed Mazdovsky. This is a cant !.

I don’t know about a dog, but when Vitale does a fuck, he solders the bumper :)))

can the bumper from the Nexia immediately dissolve into strips, onto the electrodes for soldering other bumpers? and will throw less :)))

THANKS VITAL, I just need to drink the ten-man, I wanted to see how it's done correctly, thank you all the same.

Hello namesake, how are the floors doing? that year it flooded the floor, it is dusty with horror, half has already been erased (((I think, roll up or freak out with liquid glass and wooden nailed and cook only in the morning)

credit! Vital how much does such work cost?

Why were there 2 clamps? If and with 1 there would be norms.

a new bumper is better, but in your climate this will work)

Hello. Vital, tell me what is the diameter of the nozzle of the soldering hair dryer?

Yes, it turned out nishtyak, especially for such shit! Will paint just a bomb!

Thank you. useful video. And a question on the topic: is it possible to solder plastic tanks on an aluminum radiator. A small fitting for the expansion tank hose came off. A trifle, but makes you buy a new radiator. Maybe you can do something like that?

Vitala, once again great respect. Have you tried yourself in contemporary art? First, I learned how to use a condo, now Mazda has a plastic operation, it is necessary to “stir up” something beautiful.

no Vitalik did the right thing))) but at the expense of 3 points you are wrong) because from gov..na and sweetie gov. nanny) may he not go anywhere!

Vital, when the dog doesn’t do figs, she paints the booth, gee-gee, but there are works that you do and it seems like not for free, but there is little exhaust, but often grateful customers come across.

Well done Vitalik. But isn't it cheaper to buy a whole used one?

Well, hurt yourself that you soldered, so the loot will settle in the Kakhovka, and if the owner bought a new one, then some Chinese would take the loot.

12 years ago, I left a hundred where I was also engaged in such work. this is aerobatics Vitalik! and not any 3. And these shelves. let your korish howl! its' his job. about the soldering strength! for 7 years of work, we have tried a lot of things, and have proven themselves very well, for soldering joints without gaps, SPRINGS (for example from lighters) lighters for a hundred, were thrown into a special bucket! Good luck and good!

This bumper is now more expensive than new - exclusive and hand made!

Yes, this is for sure if the docking plane is not held, it is planned later

A car bumper is an important part that protects the entire body during various damages. It works primarily at low speeds by absorbing impact forces. The first such components appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. They were made in order to move cars away from each other, if the drivers parked them nearby and interfered with the free movement along the street. It was somewhat reminiscent of a tow truck, only the offender then did not take away anywhere, but remained on the sidelines. In World War I, the bumper served as a softening element in a collision with another car. This was due to the inability of the drivers to follow in the convoy. To improve shock absorption, special large springs were placed on it, and they were called a buffer.

Modern bumpers consist primarily of a plastic body and are reinforced with beams on the inside. Steel, durable plastic, aluminum, fiberglass are used as the filling of the bumper.

To mitigate possible injury, it is filled with expanded polypropylene and other similar structure from the inside. To effectively contain the impact, there must be some space between the reinforcing beam and the common surface.

Chevrolet Lacetti appeared on the car market back in 2004 and immediately declared itself with excellent performance and hassle-free service. It is equipped with a passive body safety system.

Both rear and front bumpers are made of plastic. Their color scheme, according to the manufacturer's standards, is made to match the original color of the entire transport product.

It is possible to facilitate the repair process for specialists personally, at the same time to get to know the Sedan better, its equipment and features. The rear bumper can be easily removed without assistance.

The operation on the Lacetti model with a hatchback-type body will take place without difficulty, if you disassemble everything point by point:

  1. First, one self-tapping screw is removed at the bottom, then four are untwisted on the board of the rear bumper shield.
  2. The mud shield is removed. It must be carefully removed from another part of the Sedan car.
  3. The left and right luggage compartment upholstery is removed.
  4. With a figured screwdriver in the shape of a cross, four self-tapping screws are untwisted from attaching the bumper lining to the Chevrolet.
  5. The numerous nuts and bolts that hold the damaged bumper of the Sedan to the main body, the right side of the trunk, are loosened.
  6. The same simple procedures are carried out on the opposite side of the Chevrolet being repaired.
  7. The bolts of the bumper bracket are unscrewed from the same side.
  8. The same spare parts on the left of the car are unscrewed.

Slowly and very carefully, so as not to scratch the structure, the bumper of the Lacetti Sedan is dismantled.

Removing the rear bumper from a Chevrolet will not take long as long as the surface is not too damaged and does not need to be disposed of. Unfortunately, it happens that the rear of the Sedan is very broken, and it is separated by special equipment. With this outcome, it is unlikely that you will be able to restore everything on your own. We'll have to completely replace this important component of the iron horse.

Knowing the principles of assembling the Lacetti bumper, you can confidently put it back. You just need to install all removable elements in the reverse order. Do not forget to check the quality of the attachment to the car. In case of malfunctions, you should still contact a professional repair center.
