The procedure is as follows: 1) Using a brush (or cotton swab), apply some acid to the electrode. 2) Put more solder on the tip of the soldering iron. 3) Vigorously moving the tip, rub the solder into the electrode. Important: • the battery must not be tinned for more than 2 seconds; if you did not have time in 2 seconds, then put the element aside and try again only when it cools down; • when soldering, do not inhale acid fumes, they are very harmful to health; • after tinning the battery, be sure to remove the solder acid residues with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol or at least vodka; • the safest way is to solder the battery with the petals already welded on; so, for an 18650 battery with petals, the very edges of the petal should be tinned so that the cell itself does not heat up.
This is how a new battery looks like with a petal from a mobile charger, welded by contact welding. After finishing the tinning of all the elements, you should check that all of them have the same voltage. If there are differences by more than a few hundredths of a volt, the voltages must be equalized using a special charger or by connecting the batteries in parallel. Be careful: if the cells connected in parallel have different degrees of charge and, accordingly, different voltages, huge currents can flow, since they are limited only by the extremely low internal resistance of the batteries and the resistance of the circuit wires.
To limit the current in the break of the battery circuit, it is necessary to turn on a resistor with a resistance of at least dU / Imax (voltage difference across the battery cells, divided by the maximum permissible charge / discharge current of the batteries). The connection of the batteries and the resistor is carried out according to the diagram shown; then you should wait until the voltage across the resistor is less than a hundredth of a volt.
Having balanced the voltage on all the elements, we proceed to assembling them into a storage battery. The easiest option is to connect new elements using old connecting busbars, but if they were damaged during disassembly, copper foil with a thickness of 100-200 microns is required. When assembling cells into a battery, the original battery diagram should be followed; it is advisable to leave the arrangement of the elements the same as in the original battery.
Soldering batteries
When assembling a battery of six cells, it is advisable to combine all the cells in pairs: the minuses of the two cells together and the pluses, too, and then turn on three pairs in sequence. After assembling the elements, a controller is connected to it, and in the reverse order, starting with the wires with the lowest potential and then upward: first 0 V and 3.6 V, then 7.2 V and at the very end 10.8 V. Now all that remains is to carefully assemble the battery and check it (the battery case should not be glued). With the battery connected to the laptop, press the power button. If the laptop did not turn on, it means that when the old battery assembly was disabled, the controller went into transport mode and disconnected the battery. If you now connect the mains power to the laptop, it will "start" and see the restored battery. The repair was completed successfully.
