To create the layout, place your smartphone against a piece of wood of the same thickness as your gadget. Circle your smartphone with a pencil and cut out.

Be sure to repeat the shape of the corners of your phone. Sand the workpiece.

Step 2... To form a leather cover, you will need a frame in addition to a prepared wooden block. To do this, create a rough copy from small planks. The parameters of its inner hole should differ by 2 mm from the dimensions of the smartphone.

Step 3... Transfer the parameters of the smartphone to a square piece of board and cut out the inner part.

Step 4... Align the square piece of dock and the rough frame with the clamps and fit these blanks, making sure to round off the edges. Sand the cuts.

Be sure to check that the parameters of the pre-formed parts for forming are correct.

Step 5... Cut out a piece of the cover from a piece of leather. You can use the smartphone itself as a template by adding 2.5 cm seam allowances on the sides.

Step 6... Cut out a piece of leather and place it in a tub of warm water for 10 minutes.

Step 7... Wrap the wooden analogue of the smartphone with cling film.

Step 8... Remove the skin from the bath and gently pat it dry with a soft towel. The material must be dry.

Step 9... Cover the piece of wood with a piece of leather, place it on the plank frame and gently press down with a square wooden press. Clamp the entire structure with clamps and leave the material in this form until it dries completely. If using a fan, it will take about 12 hours to dry. During this time, the piece of leather will take the shape you need.

Step 10... At the stage of shaping the cover half, you can apply the desired pattern. To do this, press down the still wet, but already stretched skin with a prepared stamp with the desired ornament. Put a board on top of the stamp and clamp it all with clamps. This method of stamping a pattern is much more convenient than the classical method of applying a pattern using a hammer and conventional stamps.

Step 11... Cut out another piece of leather. This will be the back of the smartphone case. Here also make allowances, but not so significant.

Step 12... Glue the two halves of the leather case together. For easy application of the glue in a thin strip, you can use a sturdy plastic bag. To do this, its corner will need to be carefully cut, as is often done in cooking for applying cream.

Step 13... Send the prepared cover again under the press, until the glue is completely dry. Do not forget to put a wooden block inside.

Step 14... After the glue has set, cut off any excess with a sharp knife.

Step 15... Take a leather beveling knife and use it to trim the edges of the case.

Step 16... Sand the edges of the leather item with a fine-grain sandpaper.

Step 17... Treat the cut and trimmed edges with gum and let it dry slightly to make the mass sticky.

Step 18... Take a slipper and buff the edges of the leather case.

Step 19... Rub the surface of the case with cotton pads dipped in olive oil. The oil will darken the skin tone and add shine to the product. Instead of olive oil, you can use any other oil, experimenting with it on a small piece of material first.

In this master class I would like to tell and show how to shape and sew a leather phone case (for example, Iphone SE).

For sewing, we need the following tool and material:

- genuine leather, in this mk I used 3mm thick saddle leather;

- glue, I used sar306;

- threads, I used 1mm dafna thread;

- line punches, diamond-shaped with a pitch of 4mm;

-chemistry (finishing agents) elixir, aperture milde, self-polishing waxes Sirio.

To begin with, I made a matrix with a frame for the size of the phone, it looks like this:

I cut these blanks out of plywood.

Next, take a piece of leather the size of a workpiece and soak it in plain water ..

When the so-called bubbles stop coming out of the skin, you can pull the skin out of the water and fix it in the matrix ..

Then we take a regular plastic bag and cut it in two. We put one part on the blank on top of our piece of leather and on top of it the second part of the bag, as shown in the photo below.

Then we carefully put the frame on the layout, press it on top with a thick board. I use plywood glued in several layers, and we clamp the whole thing with clamps cross to cross (we fix the clamps gradually cross to cross).

In this position, the cover dries at room temperature for one and a half two days. Next, we untwist our structure and we get such a molded workpiece:

Next, take and cut out another piece of leather on the bottom of the case, draw a line around the phone mock-up on it with a pen and apply glue to both blanks as shown in the photo and glue both parts.

We cut off the excess and we get an even top.

Then we take a hammer and a punch and punch holes for a seam along the cover.

We sew the product with a saddle stitch, for convenience I use a homemade pony.

And it turns out we have such a blank:

Now we need to cut holes from the top for easy removal of our device from the case. I am using a cardboard layout. I outline it with a pen and then I cut it out with an ordinary clerical knife:

Next, carefully cut out one part, and then do the same with the other part .. and you get exactly cut holes.

Next, we take a ruler, measure 3-4 mm from the base of the cover and cut off the ends of the cover exactly along the line, you should get it as in the photo below.

Then we need to round the corners of the cover. To do this, I use an ordinary coin and a clerical knife, carefully cut and finish everything with ordinary sandpaper of different grain sizes.

The cover, one might say, is ready 🙂

Now I process the cover with an impregnation to protect it from moisture (impregnation of the elixir from kenda) I apply in two layers, when the cover dries I apply the aperture (aperto milde from kenda) and wait about 20 minutes.

Next, I polish the ends of the leather with beeswax using a wooden board.

And the final touch. This is a finishing self-polishing Sirio wax from kenda, I apply. Dries up, then polish with a regular shoe brush. The wax gives shine to the product and also protects it from moisture.
