Do-it-yourself Daewoo Nexia 16 valve engine repair

In detail: do-it-yourself repair of a Daewoo Nexia 16 valve engine from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

Nexia is a repairable vehicle that can be serviced independently. Almost every Nexia owner will be able to perform the following repair operations himself:

  • Unloading the contact group of the ignition lock. The contact group is one of the main "sores" of Nexia, due to which, at the wrong moment, the Nexia can stop starting. Fortunately, this problem can be easily solved - with the help of a conventional relay, we unload the contact group, and this problem is forever solved!
  • Replacing the front and rear wheel bearings. Hub bearings wear out on any vehicle and may need to be replaced over time. Replacing bearings is not very difficult thanks to the included instructions.

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE in the column on the LEFT there is an index according to the materials of THIS SECTION - you will find all the information you need!

Nexia self-repair results

As already mentioned, Nexia, unlike most foreign cars, is very maintainable, and almost everyone can replace individual components and parts. Well, of course, by doing the repairs yourself, you will save a lot of money, which you can then spend on more useful things.

One way or another, but over time, the engine of any vehicle will need repair work. After all, cars of Russian and Ukrainian production are not as reliable as foreign cars. Accordingly, in order to save money on repairs, the car owner has to do a lot of work on his own. If the cylinder head of the Daewoo Nexia 16 valve began to leak, then it's time to replace the gasket.

  1. First of all, the gasket should be changed when damage appears on it. That is, microcracks have appeared on the gasket, as a result of which the cylinder head of a vehicle with a 16 cell engine will not function correctly. In particular, in the event of a breakdown of the cylinder head gasket, the car owner will be faced with the ingress of exhaust gases into the cooling system. Constant bubbling of coolant may indicate that the cylinder head gasket is punctured. In this case, it is precisely the bubbling, not the boiling of the antifreeze, that is meant, which is very important not to be confused.
  2. Also, the need for repair may appear as a result of insufficient compression level in the engine. There is a possibility that the 16 cl cylinder head gasket has already worked out its service life and is simply not able to carry out its tasks. In this case, urgent repairs are required, otherwise it can turn into more sad consequences. If the compression is not in order, then the Daewoo Nexia engine will constantly triple, and the idle speed and ignition will be adjusted correctly.

  • Also, if a crack appears in the gasket of the cylinder head, this may be evidenced by a constant decrease in the power of the 16 cl engine. Engine oil can enter the cooling system and antifreeze can enter the oil. In this case, the glow plugs will be constantly flooded, but not with gasoline, but with antifreeze.At the same time, the vehicle will be characterized by a regular decrease in power while driving, especially when driving uphill.
  • A fluid leak was detected from the junction of the cylinder head with the block itself.
  • In all of the above cases, replacement of a cylinder head component should be carried out as soon as possible. If you do not replace the gasket in time, it will eventually result in the need for overhaul of a 16 cl motor. Therefore, if you have identified at least one of the signs, immediately purchase a gasket and change it, at a service station or on your own. Especially for those who decided to perform these works on their own, the corresponding instructions are presented below.

    1. First of all, you need to prepare your vehicle for the start of work. This will require draining the engine oil and antifreeze. Also, dismantle the rear cover of the timing belt, and also unscrew the upper screw that secures the generator. Then disconnect the wires from the spark plugs.
    2. Then you should disconnect the wires from the idle position control device, DPDZ, the camshaft position control device and antifreeze temperature control. Also disconnect the wires from the exhaust gas valve, petrol injectors.
    3. Take a 12 key and unscrew the nut that secures the ground wire to the cylinder head.
    4. Then disconnect the three vacuum tubes from the intake manifold. Leave the markings on these tubes to avoid confusion when connecting.
    5. Now take the 17 key and fix the fitting with it so that it does not turn. And using a 19 key, unscrew the tip of the brake fluid pipe. After that, the throttle cable can be disconnected and removed.
    6. Disconnect the pipes from the fuel rail. Using pliers, loosen the clamp and disconnect the heating radiator pipe from the tee.
    7. Using a 12 wrench, you will need to remove the two upper intake manifold bracket screws. Using a 14 wrench and unscrew the bottom screw. The bracket can now be removed.
    8. Then disconnect the catalytic converter and remove the cylinder head cover.
    9. Using pliers, loosen the clamp and disconnect the refrigerant pipes from the thermostat.
    10. Cut off the clamp with pliers and disconnect the crankcase ventilation pipe. Note that you will need a new clamp after installing the cylinder head gasket.
    11. Using a 13 key, unscrew the head fastening screws; the order should be followed as shown in the photo. After that, you can dismantle the camshaft pulley housing. Having done this, disconnect and dismantle the GBV of your 16 cl motor with piping.
    12. Dismantle the gasket, while, if necessary, use a knife to remove the remains of the element on the cylinder head of the 16 cl engine itself. The cylinder head screws should also be cleaned along with their seats. Be careful not to get debris inside the motor.
    13. Install a new gasket.
    14. The camshaft housing should be coated with sealant.
    15. Reinstall the cylinder head and timing pulley housing. All screws should be tightened in the sequence shown in the photo. In this case, a torque of 25 Nm should be observed. Use a torque wrench. Then, in the same sequence, tighten all the screws again at an angle of 700 degrees, and then again, only by 300.
    16. All other parts should be installed in the reverse order. Don't forget motor fluid and antifreeze.

    Daewoo Nexia is a modern reliable car, which, nevertheless, may also need to be repaired.There are breakdowns that are best eliminated in a car service, but some malfunctions are quite amenable to self-correction. Let's try to figure out in which cases it may be necessary to repair "Daewoo Nexia" with our own hands and how to correctly implement it.

    If the Daewoo Nexia engine starts to work unstably or the car simply refuses to start, then this may be due to a breakdown of the fuel pump, which can be easily corrected on its own.

    To return the parts to its functionality, it is necessary to remove it from the bracket, and then remove the filter and hose. Next, we take a screwdriver, straighten the rolling and take out the cover.

    Please note that the operation must be carried out from the side of the intake pipe.

    In the removed cover there is a recess where you need to place a metal plate. You can make this element from scrap materials, the main thing is that it has a suitable size. After that, the cover should be placed in its rightful place.

    These simple manipulations allow you to restore the tightness of the gas pump, but if after they are carried out this part is not restored, then it can be replace with the corresponding element from GAZ or VAZ cars.

    Too soft brake pedal indicates a malfunction of the brake cylinder, which can be replaced or repaired by yourself. To fix a part with your own hands, you need to stock up on:

    • keys for 10, 12, 13 and 22;
    • a bulb or syringe designed to pump out brake fluid;
    • a screwdriver;
    • pliers;
    • brake fluid.

    First, we pump out the brake fluid with a pear or a special syringe. Next, release the rear wheel pressure regulator cylinder using a 22 key.

    Note that you should start at the bottom of the regulator.

    The cylinder is fastened with nuts, which must be unscrewed, after which it is necessary to disconnect the pipes extending from the part. If you decide install a new part, then in this case it remains to attach it and how to pump it.

    If you decide to completely adjust the operation of the brake cylinder on your own, then you need to remove the O-ring from the spare part and use a screwdriver to remove the retaining ring. Next, free all the insides of the cylinder, shake them well and place them in their original place.

    When extracting parts, it is important to remember in what order they are placed, otherwise it will be extremely problematic to place them in their original places.
