The VAZ 2105 model first appeared on the streets of cities in 1980 and immediately became extremely popular. The fact is that the design of the car repeated the features of European models of those years: front and rear headlights, aluminum bumpers, a modern dashboard.

All this required the designers to rework the usual electrical circuit of the car.

Wiring on a vaz 2105 in the process of diagnosis

The VAZ 2101 platform was taken as a basis for the manufacture. In essence, it was the same rear-wheel drive five-seater sedan car. The design of the VAZ 2105 practically copied the models of cars produced in Europe in the early 80s, but it cost an order of magnitude lower, which predetermined its popularity in Western countries.

Abroad, the car had the name Lada Riva and Lada Nova (depending on the country of sale). Under these names, he was shown in video advertising.

The car plant produced several modifications of the VAZ 2105:

  1. With the VAZ-2105 index, the car was equipped with a 4-st. gearbox and 1290 cc carburetor engine. cm (63 HP);
  2. VAZ-21050 was equipped with a 5-st. Checkpoint;
  3. The VAZ-21051 was equipped with an engine from a VAZ 2101 (volume 1200 cc, 58 hp) with a 4-speed engine. Checkpoint;
  4. VAZ-21053 was equipped with a VAZ-2103 carburetor engine (volume 1450 cc, 71 hp);
  5. The VAZ-21053-20 was equipped with an injection engine from the VAZ-2104 (volume 1450 cc, 71 hp), which met the requirements of Euro-2. Also with him was 5 tbsp. Transmission.

For reference: the wiring of the VAZ 21053 differed in a different form of terminals in the engine compartment. This was caused by the installation of an ECM, an electronic engine management system and additional sensors.

The electrical equipment of the VAZ-2105 car is made according to the classic single-wire circuit for the Zhiguli family, in which:

  1. the metal body of the car plays the role of the second wire;
  2. the negative terminals of all electrical devices and components are connected to ground;
  3. electrical circuits are protected by fuses;
  4. the work of the main systems is activated through the ignition switch of the car.

For reference: the ignition switch controls electrical networks by supplying power from a battery or generator.
The contact group of the lock is designed in such a way that at the time the engine is started, the wiring of the VAZ 2105 secondary circuits is turned off.

As a control system for the electrical systems of the car, an ignition lock was used, which had four main positions:

  1. Position "0" - everything is off.
  2. Position "1" - ignition is on. The key is locked in the lock, while with the key inserted, external lighting circuits, control devices and alarm lamps (brake fluid level, engine oil pressure, fuel level in the gas tank) can be activated;
  3. Position "2" - starter activation. The auxiliary circuits and the VAZ 21053 wiring connecting them do not work to facilitate starting the engine;
  4. Position "3" - parking. All circuits are off, and after removing the key, the steering column is locked.

For reference: the factory manual informs that regardless of the position of the key, the interior lighting lamps, brake light lamps (when you press the brake pedal), horn and portable lamp connector remain energized.

To protect electrical circuits and devices, a circuit for breaking the electrical connection by a fuse is used. This happens when the voltage increases - the fuse-link melts from temperature and the circuit is disconnected.

  1. From 1 to 17 - fuses;
  2. Relay 18 is responsible for turning on the dipped headlights;
  3. Relay 19 is responsible for turning on the high beam headlights;
  4. Relay 21 activates the head light cleaner and washer;
  5. Relay 22 is responsible for turning on the heated rear window.

For reference: a jumper is indicated under No. 20. The wiring diagram of the VAZ 21053 export version is distinguished by the installation of a relay for turning on sound signals in this place.

The main and most noticeable difference from the classic Zhiguli models in the VAZ 2105 was the headlights. It was their massive appearance that set the modern look of the car. And the ability to remotely adjust the direction of the light beam was completely new.

For these purposes, several basic and additional devices served at once, among which the headlight hydrocorrector was a novelty.

His role was as follows:

  1. When loading the car, the rear of the body was lowered;
  2. The luminous flux of the high and low beam headlights began to blind oncoming vehicles;
  3. With the help of a hydrocorrector, the driver could lower (tilt) the headlights without leaving the car.

Thanks to this, the problem of driving safety at night was solved.
