In detail: DIY avensis headlight repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

Hello everyone. We continue the series of articles on the removal of headlights. This time we will focus on the Toyota Avensis headlights, you will learn how to properly remove the headlight at home without damaging anything.

Dismantling headlights may be necessary for many reasons, such as replacing a light bulb, minor tuning or repairing. Regardless of the type of work that you are going to do on the headlamp, its removal should be carried out in accordance with all the rules so that in the process nothing is damaged and does not add extra work to yourself.

In order to remove the headlight from this car, you will have to dismantle the bumper, this significantly complicates the process, but this is provided by the manufacturer and there is no getting away from it.

So, we partially remove the bumper.

  1. Using a flat screwdriver, we pry the clips for fastening the decorative casing, under which the bolts we need are hidden. The clips are located in the grooves marked in the photo.
  1. Then, using the key to “10”, unscrew the bolts marked in the photo.
  1. We dismantle the last clip located right next to the headlight.
  1. We unscrew the bolts and screws that secure the headlight.
  2. Next, we turn the steering wheel so that the wheel does not interfere with access to the lower part of the bumper. At this point, the fender liner connects to the bumper and we need to unscrew this connection.
  1. Now, make sure that all the bolts, clips and screws are unscrewed and the bumper is held only by the latches. We take hold of the edge of the bumper and gently pull to the side (towards the wheel) and at the same time towards ourselves and remove the bumper from the latches.

IMPORTANT! In order not to damage the paintwork while working and removing the headlights, I recommend using rags or towels, which should be used to hang the snapped edges of the bumper. As shown in the photo.

  1. We slightly pull back the edge of the bumper and get access to the last latch of which the headlight is attached. To do this, take two screwdrivers and do the following: use a thin screwdriver to press on the latch, and use a thicker screwdriver to pry the latch and take out the headlight.
  2. We turn off the power, and completely remove the headlamp for further work.

Then everyone will have their own scenario, depending on what needs to be done in relation to the headlamp.
