Many motorists, faced with headlight malfunctions in the VAZ 2110, try to repair the headlight on their own, so to speak, with their own hands, or improve the operation of the headlight by expanding its capabilities.

Standard brands of headlights:

  • Bosch headlights (contain reflectors only, no focusing lens)
  • Kirzhach headlights (focusing lens and reflector are present)

The most common headlight faults are:

  • Broken hydraulic corrector, which is more practical to replace with an electric corrector;
  • Jitter of the light beam;
  • Knocked down beam adjustment.

Correcting the light beam happens quite often, especially when the trunk of the car is heavily loaded, the light strikes directly into the eyes of the drivers of cars moving towards you. If the reflector has gone down, and the adjustment does not work, our instructions will help you repair the VAZ 2110 headlight hydrocorrector, the repair will take very little time.

  • We unscrew the headlight fasteners and remove them;
  • We disassemble the headlights: carefully remove the glass, then metal clips (6 pieces);
  • Using a knife, we clean the glass from the sealant;
  • Cut off the convex profile (in the shape of the letter P) on the glass;
  • We unscrew the self-tapping screws (there are 3 of them) from the back side;
  • We take out the paper reflector;
  • There is a spring located near the hole of the hydrocorrector inside the illuminator body, which must be removed;
  • We perform the same actions with two plastic rosettes from two "turntables" that attach the reflector.

For your information: The ball of the hydrocorrector snaps into the plastic groove, and the metal bobbin into the second groove. It stops the adjustment, preventing it from unscrewing further than itself.
If you squeeze the hydrocorrector when adjusting the headlights, the metal latch will break. The ball will jump out of the plastic and then the headlight will "fall";

  • The repair will consist in replacing the broken latch with a gasket, which will not make it clear that the adjustment rested against the extreme position;

  • The correct solution is to improve the fastening by inserting a cotter pin made of hard wire between the petals of the plastic piece.

For VAZ 2110, the repair of the headlight hydrocorrector is over. We assemble the headlights in the reverse order to disassembly.
We pre-clean the old sealant, then apply a new one.

  • We cut a thread on the adjustment screws (metric 3);
  • We twist them into the illuminator itself, then put on the washers;
  • We take out the plastic fasteners;
  • We put on the bar with the high beam and low beam modules located on it;
  • From above we put on: a washer, on a spring washer, on top of the spring there is another washer. The use of a locknut is recommended;
  • We twist everything;
  • We fix the structure with an anaerobic sealant.

You can snap the ball into the plastic at the end of the "turntable" without removing the glass, through the light bulbs on the back of the illuminator:

  • We drill a hole strictly opposite the latch at the top of the headlight;
  • Insert the screwdriver into the hole;
  • We fix the collet on the corrector ball;
  • We glue the hole we drilled;
  • We attach it along a hinged hinge from a furniture cabinet (hinges 5-6 centimeters long, with mounting holes and with a cutout on top, on which it is attached) to each broken off node of the corrector;
  • We put the canopy into the slot of the adjustment screw;
  • We move the screw so that the slot is in the narrow place of the canopy;
  • Holding the canopy, unscrew the screw with effort until it stops. This is how the canopy is fixed, which needs to be placed in a horizontal position;
  • With an electric drill, using a 3 mm drill bit, make a hole in the base of the illuminator where the hole is on the canopy;
  • We twist a shortened self-tapping screw into the hole so that it does not reach the high beam reflector. This slot fixes the adjustment screw securely, it will break again.

Many owners of the VAZ 2110 find that light shaking is observed when the car is moving. Such a breakdown often manifests itself in Kirzhach headlights, and such breakdown rarely occurs in Bosch parts.
There is only one reason: the rattling of the reflector.
To eliminate light jitter, check:

  • Whether the reflector is in place in the latch;
  • The presence of the thrust of the adjusting bolt;
  • An emphasis on the seating recess of the hydraulic corrector rod;
  • We check the sagging of the thread (we swap the high beam and low beam bulbs);
  • The integrity of the tube in the hydrocorrector (it can fray).

The most successful ways to eliminate jitter are:

  • We replace the hydrocorrector with an electrocorrector;
  • We increase the length of the hydraulic corrector rod to tighten the spring.

This method allows you to get rid of light shake by putting a cap on the hydrocorrector rod..

Instead of a cap, use:

  • Plastic dowel, eight millimeters long;
  • The cap removed from the brake union;
  • Another plastic cap.
  • We take out the hydrocorrector itself from the illuminator;
  • We put a cap on the corrector rod tightly. The main thing is that the cap does not slip inward;
  • We install the corrector in the landing slot

Sometimes the entire headlamp needs to be replaced.
The work is done without any problems:

  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery;
  • We take out the radiator lining;
  • We remove the block along with the wires;
  • Press on the latch of the hydraulic corrector cylinder, turn it clockwise 90 degrees until it stops;
  • We take it out of the recess, without disconnecting it from the hoses;

  • We unscrew the bolts securing the headlight (shown in the photo with white arrows), and push the headlight itself back;

  • We move the pad about four centimeters to the center of the car so that its hook comes out of the mount with the wing;

  • Press on half of the lining so that the flange comes out of the mount, and take out the lining;
  • Unscrew the fixing nut of the illuminator from below;
  • Disconnect the block from the direction indicator lamp, pull the illuminator towards you and take it out;
  • We unscrew the fastening screws for disassembling the illuminator;
  • We separate the headlamp from the direction indicator;

  • We assemble in the reverse order of this and install the headlight assembly.
