I just finished assembling the engine today. On my family, as the diagnostics showed, the mileage turned out to be 400,000 km, took the car in September 2011, was twisted as much as one and a half hundred, rattled terribly, each time there were new sounds from the engine compartment, Khan thought to the engine. I turned up a used one, with a mileage of 110,000, I decided to take it, especially since they gave it away with all attachments, and on mine there was just a lot of things that were missing. There is also a problem with money, so since January I have been ordering one thing or the other on the sly, but the car has been driving with the old engine so far. To be honest, Fiats are very expensive in terms of spare parts, and there are very few analogues for them, but if you have time and patience, you can look for parts at reasonable prices.

As for the piston, the piston kit (piston, finger, rings) costs at least 2000-2500, but there is one company, Enmark, it seems to be spelled like that, they found a number through its catalog, by the way, not all stores have it, they ordered it in the motor zone, the cost is about 1300, I don't remember exactly - my father made out the order. At the expense of the gap - it should be, especially since the diameter of the upper part of the piston is slightly less than that of the lower one, here you need to look at what diameter is in the block, how big is the output. I personally did not do any boring. What is the engine mileage? I would advise you to change everything completely, especially since the finger and its place in the piston also wear out. By the way, it is very surprising, but the fact is, after opening my own, it turned out that both of my engines in the cylinders have the same and very little wear, I think the second one to capitalize, in reserve)))

Video (click to play).

Crankshaft - again, look in the repair book for the diameter of the journals, measure with a micrometer and compare. I changed all the inserts, not the most expensive parts, although I thought to leave it, it needs a knowledgeable person to look and appreciate it.

I left the cylinder head - valves and guides, ground in, replaced the oil seals and put them back together. Well, in this case, changing everything (valve, guide, oil seal) is not a cheap pleasure. By the way, it is better to replace the bolts, there are kits, I took Reinz, about 500r, as well as the camshaft pulley bolt.

Cylinder head cover - again, it all depends on wear and mileage. Hydraulic lifters do not make noise - then everything is OK. In any case, it is worth disassembling, rinsing, replacing the O-ring, oil seal and gasket.

The oil pump didn't even touch. All gaskets, oil seals - for replacement, clean and wash all parts. It all depends on how quickly you need to make repairs, if you have time to find inexpensive (not necessarily cheap and low-quality) parts, you can save money. If you need it quickly, it will be expensive. Sometimes it happens that an inexpensive spare part has to wait a long time. The most important thing is how much you are going to drive this car, I usually try to do my best, and if you are going to sell in a month -

If I need to write the numbers of the parts that I ordered, I’m not at hand now, write - I’ll answer.

FIAT Punto Maintenance and Repair TipsImage - DIY Fiat Punto 2 Repair

I want to note that here I have posted archival records. They are from about 1990, which, in fact, are valuable.Well, now the truth and nothing but her dear! Second (188) Punta is one of my favorite cars. I know everything about her! Therefore, if you are looking at these lines, dear friend, and you have questions (and they certainly are, don’t go to the fortuneteller…), then you can write to me by e-mail or just call me. And ask what I have been afraid of for a long time :) DS.spb

A very weak point in the Punto is the rear suspension beam. Silent blocks are pressed into it. If it breaks them (and on our roads you won't have time to blink an eye), you have to either press in new ones, which is very difficult, or change the entire beam. Both are very expensive. At specialized stations, these silent blocks are lined with special gaskets, which unload the "native" silent blocks. And if you put them on a new car right away - relatively speaking, the beam will be eternal. As the wear progresses, it will not be necessary to change the beam or the silent blocks, but only these spacers.

DS.spb
I don’t know about lining up… I know that the rear beam bushings can really be replaced with new ones without any problems. Silenblocks are not uncommon and are always on sale. They are not very expensive. Call (812) 972-03-47 and 966-55-24.

Question.
Who removed the plastic boot on the tailgate?
I unscrewed all the screws and 2 plugs, but for some reason it does not work. Please share your experience.
Answer. (not mine, approx. DS.spb)
I can say that there are caps around the edges, which are hard to see from the outside ...
You need to carefully pull the edges of the plastic and unfasten them. It still seems to be
additional fasteners, so the plastic itself must be removed by applying
pulling force not from the door, but upward along the door.

Glory.
Dear colleagues!
I want to share my experience in repairing a door lock.
At the beginning of winter, the metal plate that covered the keyhole opening did not come back after removing the key, and the hole remained open. Naturally,
a week later, the lock was clogged with mud and would not open. I had to plug it with chewing gum (I recommend the blue Orbit for this purpose). In the spring, I got tired of opening the trunk from the inside, and I turned to one of the respected services. According to them, what is broken is not separable, and it is necessary to repair all the larvae: - ((.
Having bought a beer, I decided to figure it out myself.

Read also:  DIY ritmix rbk 470 repair

Here's what happened:
the lock is unscrewed (two bolts), removed from the door.
What was taken out consists of 4 parts:
1) plastic "collar" - boot - immediately removed carefully
2) plastic cover - also removable
3) the other two parts - the larva itself and the lock body are screwed
to each other with one screw (Phillips screwdriver).

Now the most important thing is that at the end of the larva there is a metal plug with a key slot. Attaches to the larva like a beer stopper. In order to remove it, it is necessary to carefully bend it with an awl at 3 or 4 points, where it was pressed into the larva.
Then it is removed, a hairpin with a spring is removed from the inside, and a sunken metal plate.
Everything is cleaned with a toothbrush and rinsed with some kind of liquid. When assembling, it is necessary to install the spring and the plate so that the spring supports the plate. The main requirement for accuracy is that the spring does not jump out into the grass during installation. Then it will take a long time to search for it. Everything is going in the reverse order.
The lock is screwed to the door. Its fastening is rigid, so there is no need to adjust its position.
Everything.

Question:
Father's car, but sometimes you have to drive it. On Saturday, in the very snowfall, a red nozzle suddenly lit up, almost died out, got up on the emergency gang, stood, wound up with a gas valve, the lamp went out and drove off. And then, all the way, the light will turn on, then go out and, accordingly, a little bitch - that is, there is no thrust. And the next day the same picture - a normal flight for half an hour, and then the same dance begins. They poured alcohol into the tank - it did not help. The question is what is it?
Answers (opinions, approx. DS.spb):

  1. The 49th block died. It was so.
  2. The car has lost its "brains", it is being treated or changed. Advice: go diagnostics and repair.Yes, and it's better not to poke around with the car yourself, it's definitely in the block, I had the same thing.
  3. I have 1997 - alive, but in 1998, as the hurricane passed, apparently the supplier of brains screwed up and some kind of defective thyristor from Taiwan ended up on the conveyor.

DS.spb
In fact, besides brains, there can be many other reasons:

  1. The ignition coil is out of order.
  2. Punches the wire.
  3. Old candles.
  4. The injector does not work or works intermittently.
  5. The mass falls off onto the spar (the one under the battery).
  6. The TDC sensor makes a fool of himself before his death.
  7. Jumped to a tooth-two timing belt.

Good morning!
Tell me if anyone has come across what it could be: when the engine is completely turned off, the oiler icon is on. Oil until the day before yesterday was below min. I added it to the norm, "dropped" the control unit just in case (I reset the errors as I think) - it still burns. And when you start it, everything is fine.
I do not understand!

In response to: Oiler in Punta is on fire posted by Sir, 21 July 2000 at 10:53:45
Broken diode bridge in the generator - as a result of short circuit and battery discharge. The generator of one of its parts takes the EARTH from the chain of the oiler bulb - so it burned even without a key in the ignition (KZ). They cannot replace the bridge - they change the generator. Good luck

Let's show you how to properly replace the front shock absorbers in a FIAT Punto 188 (Fiat Punto 188) car with your own hands. The work is performed by a qualified specialist, in accordance with the standards. You can easily repeat all the steps on your machine.

Video of replacing front shock absorbers in Fiat Punto 188:

Backup video of replacing front shock absorbers in FIAT Punto 188:

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in replacing shock absorbers, everything is clearly and clearly shown.

The computer came out of the standing position.
The client brought a kit (ECU body key) from Punto 2004.
The car started up but the tidy and electric power steering stopped working.
When trying to merge the dump, it damaged 93lc66.
1. Old ECU kit IAW 59F.M2 (Hybrid), body BC-1 46795991
2. New ECU kit IAW 5AF.P3, body BC-1 51735169
Dump from old body

What are the options for solving the problem, is there a body replacement procedure?

We'll have to disassemble the motor. Are there any nuances when disassembling?

It is not a fact that you will come across an ECU with such an eeprom arrangement. I disassembled both the one you have in the photo, and one where the eeprom is almost under the connector itself. First of all, you need to find out how you will solder those contact hairs that are welded at the factory (if you do not see the eeprom, as in the photo).
Disassembly of the unit: open the top plastic cover that forms the connector housing. Unscrew the 4 screws and remove the radiator. Deal with conductor contacts. Carefully separate the lead plastic from the aluminum plate. But all this is in case you do not see the eeprom, as in the photo!
Eeprom can be read in-circuit with needles.

Judging by the photo, they cut off a piece of plastic covering the EEPROM without touching the wiring

In such blocks, the eeprom is sometimes closer to the edge (then the master was lucky). And sometimes in the middle of the board, next to the processor. Then, without the above-described method, you can't get to the microcircuit in any way.

avg, in theory, there may be a procedure for replacing the body, though simple as a rake - put a new body, turn on the ignition and go, but I'm not sure. The procedure for replacing the motor is exactly this - a new unit is installed, the ignition is turned on and that's it. Could it be the other way - it's questionable - after all, you need to register a login, crypts (which are not in the motor) in the body.
As an extreme option, you can send me a motor, body, keys - I will tie all this without disassembling the block, if I find a suitable donor.

There is a donor - the coil control is covered in the old ECU

As far as Fiat Punto is concerned, I can't say for sure about a simple ECU replacement. I made sure myself that a simple replacement for Fiat Doblo does not work. Having installed a new unit out of the box (the client bought in Italy), we did not get the result.I had to invite a person with a dealer device.

darzik, I say for sure about Punto - a new block is put in, the ignition is turned on and off we go.

avg, I meant a donor at hand, on which blocks could be put and tied. On the table, you won't be able to connect your hands.

If it's not a secret, how can you brew without disassembling?

please tell me what to do in such a situation (Fiat Punto 2002). Replaced the 59F.M3 engine control unit (old buggy). I installed it, started it, everything seems to be fine. But the check began to blink. We looked at the errors, there is some kind of problem with the key. As far as I understand, some kind of master key is needed, which starts up for the first time after the installation of a new block, and so I don't have this key, only blue is available. I started it with them. Is it possible to somehow solve the problem or just forget about it?

The first start-up is done with any key.

Well, so I started it (I just have one key). But what to do with a flashing check? By the way, it sometimes just lights up and does not go out

It is stupid to make a diagnosis and see the errors.

in my first post it is written that the diagnostics show one error - some kind of problem with the key

Then hammer and roll if there are no other errors.

Problem
The amplifier stopped working completely.
I saw in the net a self-repair manual or a huge price tag.
It's a pity for money.
It's scary to climb myself - I'll break it completely.
Can someone tell me where to see what, measure, twist?

The same 2001 machine came as in the first post, with the same problem. the tidy does not work and the electric amplifier does not work. It turned out that the electric booster motor was absent altogether, they bought it from disassembly together with the control unit, they installed it - the result is the same. The tidy was substituted by another - nothing has changed. He took off the body - it turns out to be replaced (paint is written punto 03g), the keys to the doors and ignition are also different, and the motor is probably not native.
Question: how to revive the tidy and electric amplifier? Maybe what kind of adaptation is needed?

avghow did you solve the problem?

There is exactly the same problem.
The actions of the owners before me:
1. After the ECU burned out Replaced with a used kit.
2. We drove to a Fiat service and set up the newly installed BSI for a complete set - they did everything except speed, they said that the new BSI was not able to recognize “such” speed as on this Punto.
3. They did not believe Fiat and replaced the panel - the speed did not appear (to be expected).

Now I am suffering:
1.Hardware inside BSI-shki are different - the boards are wired differently, and loose too (in the native more IC).
2. I install the old BSI with eeprom firmware from the new one (newly installed and configured on the Fiat service).
It works but there are no windows and speed did not appear.

I think that if you try, you can blind one without dealership equipment with two firmwares and leave the old BSI, which is configured for a complete set, transferring only the keys and synchro from the donor.
I tried two options, but nothing worked so far. I understand.

All this on condition that the ECU is not tied to the VSS (according to the owners' words, the ECUs differ in some numbers, the ECU did not get into my hands - they lost it).
According to the schemes from Autodata - VSS Goes directly to the Multifunctional block (BSI). But I think that every BSI-scale is able to process this VSS, but not everyone is probably able to listen to VSS from ABS (connected to BSI via CAN). I did not find VSS on the gearbox, although I only examined it from under the hood, I did not look from the pit.

As a power plant in FIAT PUNTO cars, 4-cylinder engines with different design and power characteristics are used. The basic model of the power plant is a 1.2-liter 44 kW (60 hp) gasoline engine, which is a modification of the so-called FIRE engine, which, since 1985, has been equipped with various FIAT models. FIRE is an acronym for the initial letters of the English explanation that the engine was assembled on a fully automated assembly line.

The engine block is made of gray cast iron, the cylinder head is made of light metal alloy with pressed-in steel seat rings and valve guides.

The head is bolted to the cylinder block.

The camshaft located in the cylinder head is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft. The camshaft cams depress the poppet tappets, which act on the vertically positioned intake and exhaust valves. The poppet tappets have shims that are used to adjust the valve clearances for maintenance purposes.

Gasoline engine with a volume of 1.2 liters and 80 hp. (59 kW) is a further modification of the base model. This engine has two overhead camshafts and 16 valves. High engine power is achieved by increasing the number of valves to four per cylinder and increasing the compression ratio (see illustration 1.0).

The 1.8 liter petrol engine also has two camshafts and 16 valves (see illustration 1.0a). In contrast to the 1.2-liter petrol engine, the position of the intake camshaft of the 1.8-liter engine is adjusted by an electromagnetic regulator depending on the number of revolutions, which increases its torque, especially at low revs.

16 - valve engines are equipped with hydraulic poppet tappets that automatically adjust the valve clearance. No subsequent clearance adjustments are required. For maintenance purposes, only the disc followers themselves need to be checked.

Turbo diesel with a volume of 1.9 liters with a direct (direct) fuel injection system has one camshaft and poppet tappets with shims, as well as two valves per cylinder (see illustration 1.06). In this engine, valve clearance is adjusted as part of maintenance.

One of the specializations of our stations is the quality repair of Fiat Punto. Our auto repair shops have a dedicated Fiat Punto repair tool. Consumables, oils and fluids are available for routine maintenance. Within a couple of hours, from the main warehouse, we will bring any spare parts for repairing Fiat Punto.

Before starting repairs to Fiat Punto, we will make free diagnostics suspension, engine or electrics (free diagnostics in case of repair at our service stations). We do not recommend doing DIY Fiat Punto repairs. Everyone must do their job. You need to entrust the repair of your car to those who do it every day.

Fiat Punto Repair Cost:

Routine work and maintenance Fiat Punto is recommended to be carried out every 7-10 thousand km. mileage. This necessarily includes changing the engine oil, oil filter, air filter and cabin filter. When carrying out scheduled work, we will make free diagnostics of all vehicle components and draw up a list of recommendations.

Every 60 thousand km. mileage, we recommend changing the timing belt with rollers, and if the motor is chain, then it is better to replace the chain every 120 thousand km. It is better to replace the candles every 40 thousand kilometers on gasoline engines and 100 thousand kilometers. mileage on a diesel engine. On Fiat Punto models with adaptive throttle, it is recommended to clean and adapt the throttle every 60,000 km.

The most famous problems and malfunctions of Fiat Punto:
- acidification of the caliper pistons with subsequent uneven wear of pads and discs;
- unsuccessful design of the fuel filter - the car jerks, stalls, troit;
- creak in the car interior due to low-quality plastic - gluing with anti-creak material;
- a problem with the box - early failure of bearings and primary shaft oil seals;
- in standard cooling radiators, leak at the junction with the side part;
- tight steering wheel - a problem with the power steering of the car - a bulkhead or replacement, according to the result of diagnostics.

Fiat Punto wheel bearing wear can only be determined by diagnosis.

Warranty for all repair work Fiat Punto - 6 months.

Excessive hemorrhoids with all sorts of cylinders (main and working). The simpler the mechanism, the more reliable and easier to repair, in my opinion the difference in the effort on the pedal will hardly be felt.

By the way, I agree. I once had a Muscovite41. So it sank pretty well without any hydraulic drives (in the sense of not tight). But all the same, I like the Punta structure: it's simple and most importantly compact, which is fundamental for a compact class car.

Tin, I don’t have a clutch pedal at all, I have an automatic transmission!

Respect to the people who do everything themselves, here I am getting old and I myself want to understand everything. But I still go to the service, but I follow them and I know that they are there!
