The fact is that even the best installation wears out after several years of operation, and the adaptation of a car to work on gas, due to its complexity and the need for serious intervention in the equipment, generates high risks of errors during installation. It is the combination of these two factors that leads to the fact that the operation of cars on gas is not as carefree as it seems.Improperly operating equipment not only annoys the driver, but also leads to premature wear of the engine and its attachments. If problems arise, it is not worth delaying the repair.
Typical installation errors most often appear during the first month after LPG installation. Symptoms include: problems with gas refueling (the valve closes too early), incorrect gas level readings, abnormalities in the operation of the cooling and heating system, the "Check" indicator lights up, a drop in power, an automatic switch to petrol if there is a decent amount of gas. However, some problems may appear only after a few years. Then you have to deal with the wear of the fuel injectors, pressure sensor and pressure reducer.
The very fact that, despite the decent costs of purchasing and installing LPG equipment, you have to drive on gasoline is quite annoying. After all, the owner planned to save on fuel. But that's not all.
Most of the presented defects have a negative effect on the condition of the engine. Neglecting the "Check Engine" indicator is a direct path to burnout of valve seats. Ignoring deviations in the operation of the engine cooling system and the interior heater leads to overheating of the block, head cracking and gasket burnout. In this case, repair bills will cost tens of thousands of rubles.
During the operation of a car with LPG, 18 typical malfunctions are most often encountered. Some of them are malfunctions in the operation of the gas installation itself, and others are typical problems that can be expected from a car that is powered by gas for a long time.
1. Loss of coolant.
Signs: the coolant level in the reservoir drops below normal. Topping up doesn't help. The situation repeats itself over and over again. Puddles (drops) may appear under the vehicle.

3. Jerks the car when running on gas.

4. The gas reserve indicator does not work.
Signs: regardless of the amount of gas charged, the indicator shows a value that differs from the actual one.
Cause: the gas level sensor works on a principle similar to the float in the toilet cistern. A jammed float is the most common cause of incorrect readings. Perhaps the reason lies in an electrical malfunction: no contact, short circuit, etc. etc.
Repair cost : most often it is possible to get rid of by tapping on the gas cylinder. If the float comes to life, consider yourself lucky. If not, you will have to prepare from 800 to 2000 rubles.

Cause: the gas has a pungent smell, so even a small amount of it is immediately felt. The reason can be both small leaks and a leaky exhaust system. In older systems, due to the loss of tightness in the intake duct, gas can enter the air intake system for the passenger compartment.
Repair cost : everything is assessed individually in each case. The repair begins with a classic check of the tightness of the joints, which will cost about 500 rubles. In some situations, the cost of elimination can reach up to 3000 rubles.
9. The engine does not develop revs.
Signs: at low revs, the engine runs perfectly, but revs up reluctantly.
Cause: the reasons may be different, ranging from prosaic clogging of the LPG filter and a faulty gearbox (or its too low performance), and ending with problems with the software.

10. Engine stalls unexpectedly.

Cause: in older systems, the reason lies in a misconfiguration or improper modification of the intake system. Sometimes it turns out that the gearbox is incorrectly installed. In systems with multipoint injection, such problems are not observed, and if something similar happens, then the cause must be sought in the electronic control system.

11. The "Check Engine" lamp comes on.
Signs: the engine malfunction indicator remains on all the time or only comes on under certain recurring conditions and goes out after a few days.

15. Wear of the ignition system.
Signs: the engine with LPG of the old type does not work correctly - “shoots”, stalls. For HBO with multipoint injection, this problem is uncommon, or at least has less severe symptoms.
Cause: Creating a spark in a propane, butane and air mixture requires a higher voltage than in a mixture of air and gasoline. For this reason, the ignition system is more stressed and wears out faster.
Repair cost : for a new candle you will have to pay from 150 to 1000 rubles. The cost of new high-voltage wires is from 2,000 to 20,000 rubles. A conventional old-style ignition coil will cost about 1,000 rubles, and a cassette - 10,000 rubles.

17. Corrosion of the exhaust system.
Signs: the engine is noisy, you can smell gas, and the exhaust system resonates during speed changes.
Cause: burning liquefied gas produces more water vapor than burning gasoline. As a result, the exhaust system corrodes faster and mainly on the inside. The exhaust system can "ring" and resonate, although upon inspection it appears to be in good working order and tight.
