DIY peugeot 206 repair

In detail: do-it-yourself repair of gura peugeot 206 from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

Peugeot 206 is one of the most successful models of PSA Peugeot-Citroen company. The compact B-class hatchback fits perfectly into urban conditions, feels confident both on narrow streets and on wide highways. The production of this model began back in 1998 and since then its popularity has not faded away.

Complete diagnostics of the STEERING RACK.

If we make repairs, then this is included in the cost of work.

The car has excellent technical characteristics:

  • a wide range of power units with a volume of 1.1 to 2.0 liters and a capacity of 60-136 hp;
  • 5-speed manual or robotic gearbox;
  • both gasoline and diesel engines are presented.

In short, it is a good choice for city dwellers, especially women like this model.

However, no matter how ideal the car is, it needs timely service. One of the "sore" topics for the owners of French cars is the power steering.

If you do not take proper care of the hydraulic system, then over time you will need to repair the power steering of the Peugeot 206. In principle, as in any other model, the faults are standard here:

  • you have to make an effort to turn the steering wheel;
  • fast consumption of expensive ATF hydraulic fluid - Dexron II or III;
  • the presence of extraneous sounds while driving - knocking in the steering column, buzzing of the power steering pump drive, crunching and grinding at maximum turning of the steering wheel;
  • airiness of the hydraulic system.
Video (click to play).

You can list it for a long time, but the problem is that it is often because of the owner himself that all these annoying moments occur: a person does not pay attention to formidable symptoms, does not check the fluid level, tries to save money by buying cheaper oil. Time also lays its irreparable mark. As a result, you have to fork out for expensive repairs to the power steering of the Peugeot 206.

At the moment, there are a lot of workshops and boxes in which the Kulibins are ready to take on the repair of any equipment. However, there is no guarantee that the problem will not recur in a month.

Residents of St. Petersburg can contact a specialized technical center, which will offer you a full range of services:

  • diagnostics, determination of the cause;
  • high-quality repair of the Peugeot 206 power steering and many other models;
  • quality control.

If necessary, professionals can carry out a complete replacement of the power steering. You just need to call the technical center and agree on everything with the managers. You are guaranteed to be satisfied with the results of your work.

The rack shaft is being restored. Traces of corrosion are removed on a lathe and spraying is done, followed by polishing to the required size. (the issue price is about 5-6 thousand rubles) The killed oil seals change accordingly. This is the right way to do it. I cleaned my "eaten" shaft with 1000th sandpaper and polished it on a felt circle (which turned out to be at hand in the garage), replaced the side oil seals, did not touch the central one, because everything was dry there. I traveled about 2000 km on this ananism - it’s still dry, but I think the above procedure cannot be avoided. but that will be later. As for the more or less killed, I immediately say - the answer is negative. Visually you will see only the ends of the shaft, and you will not see the extreme internal limits to which the oil seals reach + the middle of the shaft (marked with a red ring)

Dudes! tell me what I need to buy from the repair kit, as I understand it, you won't get off with two oil seals and steering rods, of course you need to take into account how the knot has worn out, this is understandable, but I want to hear from you advice, and even better to restore or take used ones from disassembly, for example.

It is not possible to buy something from a repair kit, you can only buy the Repair kit itself. It consists of oil seals and rings, check it out

second-hand can also die at any time, so there is no guarantee. It is only necessary to restore the shaft itself. Here, too, recovery offices can work hack-work, for example, do not clean the sinks on the lathe, but rinse the rust with chemistry and immediately spray it, it will appear exactly after their warranty work, i.e. in half a year. As Max already wrote, buy clamps for a screw (only the end of the family should be pulled over).
This was the state of my patient (only removed and wiped it with a rag), what was done next. wrote above.

I apologize for the stupid question, why does the rail die? Or is it like with the rear beam that you need to change something in time?

Lyokha, I told you - everything is the will of Allah. But the main thing is water ingress. Rides and swims in puddles. and the clamps on the rods are really snotty. and here's the bottom line. If everything is fine with you so far, then I still advise you to change the clamps and fill the lithola, within reasonable limits, of course.

thanks for the advice! Tula607 and what clamps do you recommend (plastic ties)?

For a long time I rode on the old power steering (the new one was waiting in the wings).
It's time to serve him. The pressure became weak, the steering wheel is heavy.

Design.

Quite simple and reliable enough.
Axial play must always be constructive!
No rings, no spacers to sample backlash!

This ring on the pulley axis limits the stroke.

It is forbidden to install "gag"!
It is not necessary to unscrew the pulley from the axle!

Internal blade mechanism and support walls are floating.
The rear support wall is pressed against the spring ring.

The wall is supported by a rubber ring around the circumference.

The reason for the idle hum and poor pressure is the wear of the blade return.
It is very clearly visible that the surface is worn out (seizure, transverse working).

By using Goi Paste, Felt Attachment and Dremel, you can achieve the perfect result.

The blades need to be turned over.
Before assembly, everything must be rinsed, blown out and collected with oil.

Hon on details did not eliminate.

Good luck to all!

The power steering fluid in the Peugeot 206 is an oil that transfers resistance from the power steering pump to the hydraulic cylinder, and also lubricates all friction pairs. The oil is circulated through the hoses connecting the power steering units, including the Peugeot 206 power steering plastic expansion tank, which has MIN and MAX marks to determine the level.

The power steering system itself is the Peugeot 206's hydraulic system, part of the steering mechanism to make it easier to turn the steering wheel and set the trajectory. If the power steering refuses, it is possible to drive the car, but the steering wheel will be difficult to turn, it will become heavy.

The power steering fluid level in the Peugeot 206 can be determined by the marks on the power steering plastic expansion tank. During operation, the Peugeot 206 power steering fluid can flow in various places, most often through hoses. As a result, the power steering oil level will drop.

Driving without fluid in the Peugeot 206 power steering puts the power steering pump at risk of damage, which costs a lot of money, as it will run dry. As a result, he will receive serious damage and fail. The power steering pump in the Peugeot 206 starts working as soon as you start the car. If your Peugeot 206 is left without oil in the power steering system, then the best solution would be to call a tow truck.

Intensive use of the Peugeot 206 makes the power steering oil color darker over time, often with a burning smell. This is a reason to think about replacing it. Overheating of the oil often occurs when the steering wheel is fixed for a long time in the extreme position, until it boils, the pressure in this case is maximum. You should also not leave the car when parking for a long time with the steering wheel turned all the way.

Quick prophylaxis and inspection of the Peugeot 206 power steering includes: monitoring the power steering oil level and its quality in the power steering expansion tank, checking the tension of the drive belt on the power steering pump Peugeot 206, assessing the condition of the hoses - cracks, smudges, fogging, as well as searching for leaks at the joints of the power steering elements.

There are two ways to change the fluid in the Peugeot 206 power steering:

  • partial replacement of power steering fluid Peugeot 206.
  • complete replacement of power steering fluid Peugeot 206.

For a partial replacement of the power steering oil, you will need a syringe (with a tube) and the oil itself, so much that at the end of the work it ceases to be dark.

Partial replacement of power steering fluid in Peugeot 206:

  1. We unscrew the cover of the expansion tank of the Peugeot 206 power steering.
  2. With a syringe with a tube, we completely pump out the liquid from the power steering tank.
  3. Fill the tank with new liquid, up to the MAX level.
  4. We start the engine and turn the steering wheel left and right to the extreme position.
  5. We turn off the engine and repeat point # 1 again until we get the desired result - light oil.

The next method for changing the power steering oil in the Peugeot 206 will allow you to achieve almost 100% replacement.

Complete replacement of power steering fluid in Peugeot 206:

    Drive onto an overpass, or jack up the car so as to hang out the front car wheels of the Peugeot 206, in order to be able to easily rotate them with the engine not running.

The power steering belt creaks in wet weather. Leaves to the side by one tooth and the backlash of the power steering bearing.

Anything is possible, the belt tightening did not help? Try changing the belt to a new one first.

Because of the backlash and leaves. Look at the photo report on the repair of the power steering pump.

Even more useful tips in an easy-to-use format

Tell me, dear inhabitants of the conference.
The power steering pump hummed and whistled.
I have the following questions:
1) Which one to order?
2005 year car, five-door hatch (if suddenly it is important), Iranian assembly, 1.6 16V engine. According to the VIN, due to the Iranian assembly, nothing beats.
On the pump itself, numbers are drawn in different places. On the metal part there is a sticker with the Peugeot-Citroen logo and two sets of numbers - “26079836” and “9636868880”. The black (presumably plastic) part of the pump reads “PA 66GF33” and “P / N 26079884”. There seems to be a logic in that “P / N” is a partner number, but the existential doesn’t give out anything for any of the specified sets of numbers, and when trying to match it by the model, it gives out a dozen different options. How to choose it?

2) Are there used pumps and is there any point in taking them, or are they fast-moving? And where in Moscow time there is a showdown with tsatski on the Peugeot 206?

3) Well, so as not to get up twice - do I understand correctly that it is not necessary to carry out large-scale dismantling under the hood to remove the power steering pump?

Yes fig knows 🙂 gives me the first
