Make sure that the work is done efficiently, so that nothing comes off and does not fall out. To complete the operation, we will put on an insulating cap. Everything is now ready to use!
If you do not have a tool for crimping the RJ-45 connector, do not despair. A pair of straight arms and a simple screwdriver will do everything at the highest level. It should not be hidden that work without press jaws will last much longer and there is a possibility that the first time we will not be able to crimp the wire correctly, but after trying, we will not lose anything.
The algorithm of actions is similar to that described above: we strip the cable, check the length of the wires and the connector, align and cut the wires. Having distributed the colored wires according to the diagram, we place them inside the RJ-45 connector so that part of the twisted pair insulation falls into the connector. Here, perhaps, the most interesting begins. Make sure that the order of the wires is not disturbed and they sit tightly on the guide channels. Our next step is to press down on the connector clamping bar with a screwdriver. Half the battle is done! It remains to press the contacts of the RJ-45 connector into the insulation of the cores of the network wire. Calculating the force, we push through the wires of the clamp strip one by one and “drown” them in a braid of colored conductors. If it turned out to combine the contacts of the connector and the cores of the Internet cable into a solid line, then the work was completed successfully. It's so simple, without a specialized tool and at home, you can efficiently compress a twisted pair cable.

For complete happiness, it is not enough to try the obtained sample in practice. If you have a tester, you can use it to check the resistance of the LAN cable. Otherwise, and without it, you can check the performance of the network cable by inserting it directly into the Ethernet cell of a computer or router. If everything was done correctly, the Internet will appear immediately. If not, then try again to press the connector pins against the colored cores.
As you can see, it is not difficult to crimp the power cord yourself. I would also like to note that with the correct execution of the actions, the result of work with both press pliers and a screwdriver will be the same. Therefore, the choice of a tool for crimping a network Internet cable at home is up to you.
In this tutorial, I will show you how to crimp a LAN network cable and make an Internet cable with your own hands without a tool. Instead of a crimper (a special tool for crimping twisted pair cables into RJ-45), we will use a regular screwdriver. And for stripping the twisted pair - a knife.
In the article how to compress a twisted pair cable into RJ-45, I showed the whole process using a crimper. And he promised to prepare a guide for crimping an Internet cable without crimping pliers. Everything is simple here: if you already have a special tool, then you most likely do not need all these instructions, you are already in the subject. And if you are looking on the Internet how to make a network cable with your own hands, then you most likely do not have a crimper. And you are not going to buy it, for the reason that you simply do not need it. The tool is not cheap, and buying one to crimp two connectors is not a good idea. Therefore, you can do everything with a regular screwdriver and a knife. Yes, it may turn out to be a little kolkhoz and not the first time, but it will work out. But on a budget and without outside help.
We need the following materials and tools:
The cable itself is twisted pair. I took a small piece, your cable must be of the required length. Buy a little with a margin.
RJ-45 connectors. To make one network cable, you need two connectors. But be sure to buy more. The connector is disposable. And if something does not work out the first time, you will have to go to the store again.
A screwdriver with which we will crimp the twisted pair into an RJ-45 connector.
Twisted pair stripping knife.
And preferably more wire cutters to trim the wiring. You can also use the wire cutters that are usually found on the pliers. If you don't have any wire cutters or pliers, you can cut the cable with scissors or a knife. This is not very easy right, but as a last resort it is possible.
My knife is a little big for this kind of business, but it doesn't matter. The main thing is to be sharp
How they work: we strip the cable and insert it into the connector. On the connector itself, there is even a diagram of where to insert which wiring. Then we simply snap it in and the cable is crimped. The thing seems to be not very popular. I don't even know if you can buy such a connector in a regular store. You have to ask.
Before proceeding to crimping a twisted pair using our screwdriver, you need to decide on the scheme according to which we will make the cable.
There are two ways you can make an internet cable. Most likely you want the first method, direct crimp. Let's figure it out in more detail.
1 If you need a cable to connect a laptop, computer, TV, or other equipment to a router or modem, then you need to make a cable according to this scheme. This is a direct crimp order. The easiest and most common way. Such a network cable, for example, comes with a router.
There are two crimping methods: T568A and T568B. I did it according to the T568B circuit, which you can see below. It turns out that we crimp both connectors the same way.
2 The second method is cross, or cross. Such a cable is useful for connecting two computers directly (without a router).
I think you have decided on the scheme. You can read more about this in the article: twisted pair: what is it? Schemes and methods of crimping twisted pair. I will be making a simple cable (straight crimp) using the T568B scheme.
If you have everything you need, you can start making the cable. I will try to show everything as detailed and step by step as possible.
2 We straighten the wires and set them in color. According to the scheme that you have chosen (photo above). It is advisable to position them so that they do not intertwine. I got it like this:
3 Next we need to cut the wiring. Leave about a centimeter. I will do this with a special cable cutter. As I wrote above, you can cut them using scissors or a knife.
4 We check whether the wiring according to the diagram is correctly set, and insert them into the connector. We hold the RJ-45 connector with a latch away from us. As in the photo below.
We insert the wiring all the way. They should go completely and rest against the front wall of the connector.
5 Once again, we check whether the twisted pair has entered the connector correctly, and proceed to crimping. We take our screwdriver (maybe you have something else), and press the contacts in turn. Look carefully, do not hurt your hand!
The contacts must be pressed hard. So that they pierce the cable. The contact itself should not just align with the connector body, but be slightly recessed into the body. The lesson is not the easiest one. When I pressed the cable with a screwdriver, it was hardly inserted into the LAN port of the router (but it already worked), after which I still pressed the contacts with a screwdriver.
After I squeezed each pin, I also snapped the cable clamp into place. It is simply pressed inward and the outer insulation is pressed in.
Everything is ready. We do the same on the other side of the cable. I got it like this:
As you can see, the contacts themselves are slightly damaged by the screwdriver. When crimping with a crimper, there is no such damage.
I tested the cable by connecting my laptop to my router. The Internet appeared on the laptop, which means that everything worked out and works. I managed to make a network cable the first time. Even without a special tool, using a regular knife and screwdriver. I hope you did the same.
Maybe this. But I would not rush to dump everything on the cable at once. It is possible that the problem is with the router, computer, or other device you are connecting. Need to check.
Connect using the manufactured cable to another device.If possible, check the devices by connecting them with another cable. To make sure that it is the network cable that we just pressed.
Be sure to carefully check the sequence of wires in the connector in accordance with the diagram.
If you mix up the sequence of wires, then bite off the connector and redo it.
If everything is according to the scheme, then take a screwdriver and squeeze the contacts on the connector. It is possible that there is no contact.
That's all. Write in the comments about your results, ask questions, and share tips. Good luck to all!
How to crimp an internet cable
The power cord is used to connect a computer to a network: it unites two PCs into one, connects with other computer devices.
It extends from the provider to the house for each user individually.
The quality of its compression directly depends on how good the speed of the Internet connection and the operation of the device itself will be.
If you bring the Internet to your house and have invited a specialized team, there will be no problems.
But sometimes it becomes necessary to compress it yourself.
How to properly crimp an internet cable - the question is serious and it should be approached responsibly, having previously studied the information.
For, to crimp the internet cable yourself, you should have some tools :
It is convenient and safe to work with it for component parts.
There are different types of crimper
A useful thing, it will save the wire from breaking at the mating point.
If you are not inclined to spend extra money, you can use the tools that are at hand.
But it is necessary to work with them extremely carefully so as not to damage the material.
You can, for example, perform crimping using a conventional screwdriver. Then, for manipulations, in addition, take a knife.
For understanding, how to crimp an internet cable, you need to know what their options exist and what they are used for.
Crossover - used to connect two identical devices to each other .
For example, two personal computers or two routers.
Its peculiarity is that each side has a set of wires belonging specifically to it.
The crimp methods do not differ between different types of wires. The only difference is what each one is for.
Direct - used to connect a network to a PC .
Shown is a straight wire from the inside
It got its name from the compression method. It is the same for both wires.
But the user does this manipulation once, since the second part of him is already included in the network and is at the provider.
It is quite enough for this speed and for normal operation.
If you need a connection speed above, then 8-wire cord is used ... It is more expensive in terms of cost.
Today, it is convenient that the gadgets have a built-in function that allows you to automatically determine the type of connector and automatically select and make the necessary settings.
This is very helpful for users who do not have professional knowledge in the field of IT connections, but are trying to solve on their own the problem of how to crimp an Internet cable at home.
It will configure everything automatically and will work absolutely correctly and without complications.
It should also be noted that almost all current devices are Auto MDI-X.
This suggests that crossover cables are becoming obsolete and almost never used.
Only those who are able to recognize the type of connection and configure it come to replace it.
So, let's take a closer look, how to properly crimp an internet cable.
In almost all wires in which the wires are in the form of a twisted pair. There is also a special thread with which you can easily get rid of the first layer.
Next, you need to unwind and straighten small wiring.
Measure the required length for cutting (attach an adapter), taking into account that a small part of the external protection should go into the connector by a few millimeters.
Cut off the excess by measuring the desired length
Inside the connector there are divisions, separate for each dart.
They should be carefully placed in the wiring.
How to fix the wire correctly
Using a screwdriver, you need to fix the connector where it comes into contact with the insulated part of the wire.
It is very important to keep track of the wiring, they must be in their place.
Next step - it is required to fix them in the contacts of the adapter.
For this action, you need a crimper.
With its application, the work will be done once and efficiently.
You can also crimp the cable without crimping, helping yourself with a screwdriver .
In this case, the clamp should be in a free position so as not to crush it during processing.
It is important to correctly position the wires in the adapter
At the end of processing, it is required to check the performance of the product using a special device.
Before testing, the tester must be configured as follows: put the switch on diagnosing the resistance or set the sound signal when the resistance force changes.
If somewhere there are difficulties, and there is no reaction of the indicator, you need to tighten the idle wire and check again.
Next, you need to put on the protection in place between the cord and the creeper.
Of course, you can save money and not buy such a tip.
But the savings will be minimal, and if the wire is damaged, you will need to do the work done again, or even buy other components if something becomes unusable.
Protects the wire from kinking
Its difference when connected is that the wires change their sequence and are arranged according to the following scheme:
In this case, the first end is processed with a direct crimp option, and the second when using a cross crimp.
Working with cable and connector
We clean the outer ball a few centimeters.
We straighten the wires in the correct sequence.
We measure the required length. This can be done using a crimper.
We put the wiring (so as not to be confused) into the adapter. A few centimeters of insulation also gets there. All of them must rest against the plastic - only in this case the work will be done, right.
We use a crimper. You need to press down with force so that all the wires are fixed and remain motionless.
You can take work.

Cables with a twisted pair in the cut are most often with eight conductors.
They were the first to use when the internet came to homes.
With the spread of such a means of communication, providers came up with a way to save money and began to use a 4-core instead of an 8-core cable. It is much cheaper.
This is what a 4-core wire looks like.
The four-core wire has its own distinctive feature, which few people know about, and certainly, providers are aware of it.
The fact is that it can transmit data streams at speeds up to 100 Mbps only.
If the user does not provide for a speed greater than 100 Mbps, this connector will suit him. Otherwise, you should turn to the eight-core.
Crimping tools will be needed the same as described earlier - a connector and a crimper.
Tools to get the job done
The difficulty in working with this option lies in the fact that you need to understand the color scheme of the internal wiring.
After all crimp the internet cable will come out correctly, if you know how they are located colors.
Consider all the options how to crimp an internet cable 4 cores.
Colors: white-orange, orange, white-blue, blue
If your wire is white-orange, orange, white-green and green, then you should proceed according to this plan.
The first in the contact of the connector should be white-orange
The second is orange
Third - green and white
The last one is green .
It is important that the colors are arranged exactly according to this pattern, otherwise the Internet connection will fail.
Colors: white-orange, orange, white-blue, blue
With this option, the twisted pair must be separated and fixed to the adapter in the following order:
Colors: white-orange, orange, white-brown, brown
You need to arrange the wires as follows:
First you need to make sure that the problem lies with the network cable. To do this, connect it to any other gadget, if possible.
Test the plug-in device itself with a different connector. There may be a problem with him.
If it works properly, figure out whether the wires are located correctly, whether they correspond to the order in the color scheme, in the cells.
Are they well pressed against the adapter contacts? If you find an inaccuracy, you need to cut off the connector and make the connection again.
You should have special devices - a connector and a crimper for work.
If the product received does not lead to the appearance of the Internet on the computer, try tightening the contacts more tightly.

Based on the article, squeezing the cord yourself is quite realistic and not at all difficult. Before starting work, you should know what will connect the resulting product. The type of cable and the version of the work done directly depend on this. Current technologies have reached the point that the device will automatically determine the desired type of connection and adjust the parameters if the wizard makes a mistake and selects the inappropriate type of connection.
Good afternoon, dear blog readers. If your internet cable (twisted pair) has been gnawed by a dog or cat, it has been conveyed by furniture or was damaged in another mechanical way, then it can be restored without losing its aesthetic appearance and functional characteristics. Many, remembering grandfather's method, resort to twisting the veins and further wrapping them with electrical tape in the old fashioned way. However, it is not permissible to repair the Internet cable in this way.
This method is well suited for breaking the power cable of devices and devices. Any twisting of twisted pair conductors is additional interference, loss of data packets, which you can then feel during operation (reduced speed, disconnections, etc.). By resorting to twisting, you lose the data transfer speed by an order of magnitude.
This article will describe how to repair an Internet cable in case of a break in the area from the entrance to the apartment and before connecting the device. If you have damaged or broken the connector, then you can read about its repair in a separate article.
This situation can also arise with the cable from the antenna. Therefore, I recommend that you read the article on lengthening the antenna wire.
To repair a damaged twisted pair cable, we need several tools:
Cable stripper and cutter (stripper)
A stripper is needed to strip a certain piece of external insulation and also to cut off excess conductors. A knife can also be used to remove the insulation. However, be extremely careful not to damage the integrity of the veins.
Wire connector (adhesive tape)
Scotchlocks need as many as the veins need to be spliced.
Connector crimping tool
If there is no such tool, then you can get by with simple pliers. However, as with a knife, you need to be careful, otherwise you may damage or crush the connector.
To begin with, with the help of a stripper, we remove the excess insulation in order to free the veins from it (about 2 centimeters). We unweave twisted pairs, for further ease of installation in the connector.
Now, one by one, we take cores of the same colors from different pieces of cable and insert all the way into the connector holes. Then we snap the scotchlock by pressing two fingers. Using the connector crimping tool, squeeze the adhesive tape completely and then the wires will definitely not fall out. This operation must be carried out in turn with all the veins.
As a result of repairing the Internet wire, a small bundle will turn out (as it looks, you can see in the figure below).
It is recommended to wrap this place with electrical tape for additional protection. But before finishing, I advise you to check your work and make sure that the Internet is working. To do this, you need to insert the compressed twisted pair cable into the connector of the device through which the network is organized (stationary computer, laptop or router). If everything works without interruptions, then you can safely protect the place where the Internet cable is being repaired.
I advise you to read the article on how to lengthen the Internet cable. Such a need may arise if you are going to redevelop the premises and the equipment will be moved to another place.

Recently I had a need to crimp a LAN cable, and I didn't have a special tool at hand. It is about how to crimp a twisted pair without a special tool and will be discussed. Of course, you can buy a ready-made cable, but we are not looking for easy ways, are we? Well, but seriously, the situations when it is necessary to crimp a twisted pair are very different.
For example, due to the frequent removal of the RJ-45 plug from the Ethernet port during the crimping, a poor quality signal may appear or the standard length of the cable (patch cord) is not enough to combine several workstations. Or maybe you just need to connect at home with a LAN Smart TV cable to the Internet (for example, a Samsung TV) or connect two computers to a local network with a twisted pair cable. You never know what you may need to connect via a network cable.
Here are the factory standards for the length of patch cords with RJ-45 plugs: 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 7m. The manufacturer makes cables of shorter or longer lengths to order.
I had a twisted pair cable at home (twisted pair characteristics are described in detail here) and several RJ-45 connectors, but I did not have special crimping pliers (crimper). As you probably already guessed, a way out was found - I decided to replace the crimper with a screwdriver. Of course, without a special tool, the installation process becomes a routine and takes more time, but, with the right approach, the quality of crimping will not suffer.
I think you understand that quality means the head and hands, because the quality of the twisted pair crimp will depend on them. I say this because I have met people who manage to crimp a twisted pair with a crimper at times worse than an amateur would do with a screwdriver with the right approach. The image below shows one of the many types of crimpers.
I will start by giving several twisted pair crimping circuits. Below is an image where I drew two twisted pair crimping circuits: a straight-through cable and a cross-over cable.
The first scheme is used to connect PC - Switch (computer - switch), Smart TV - Router (TV - router), Switch - Router (switch - router) and Router - PC (router - computer).
The second diagram for connecting PC - PC (computer - computer), Switch - Switch (switch - switch), Router - Router (router - router). Usually used to connect devices of the same type.
It should be said that many modern digital devices automatically detect the type of cable (straight-through or crossover) and work together perfectly on any of them. Most modern devices already have such an interface (Auto MDI-X), and therefore the cross-type crimping is gradually becoming a thing of the past.
Straight-through cable.
Cross-over cable (Cross-Over - zero hub).
I think that you have chosen the necessary scheme with which you will connect your devices to the network, now let's proceed directly to creating the LAN cable itself.
The first step is to remove the outer sheath of the cable. By the way, almost all types of twisted pair cable contain an internal thread that allows you to easily get rid of the outer sheath of the cable when connected to RJ 45 connectors (for computer networks).
Now you need to straighten all the wires laid together and measure the distance along the plug, attaching a cable to it so that all the wires sit in their seats until they stop. The outer sheath of the cable must fit under the retaining clip.
After making sure that the measurement was made correctly, we cut the cable to the desired length.
Now you need to insert the cable into the end of the plug so that all the cores sit all the way into their guide channels. This must be done in such a way that the outer insulation of the cable falls under the connector clamp strip. After that, clamp the retaining strip of the connector with a screwdriver, while making sure that the wires do not come out of the landing channels. For convenience, you can fix the cable with your hand in which you hold the screwdriver.
At this stage of crimping, the connector should look like the one shown in the photo below. Please note that the pins are not yet sunk into the cable cores.
It remains to drown the connector contacts into the cable cores. You need to be extremely careful and press the contacts with a screwdriver with a feeling so that they sit in their places, while cutting through the sheath of the veins.
When you sink the connector contacts into the cable cores, make sure that they sit on the same place in one line. At the end of the crimping, it is advisable to make sure of the quality of the work performed and check the connection using a conventional tester. To do this, on the tester, you need to set the switch to the resistance measurement mode or to the position of the sound signal and test all the working cores of the network LAN cable you crimped.
If there is no resistance or sound signal, press the connector contacts to their seat. Of course, it is much more convenient and faster to do this with a crimper, but if you do everything right, you will get nothing worse than a compressed twisted pair with a screwdriver at the output.
It would not be superfluous to use an insulating cap, as it will protect the cable from kinking and the connector from dust and moisture, but I did not have one at home. In addition, the cap gives the cable some completeness and beauty.
In the photo below, I decided to post a comparison of the crimped twisted pair by specialists from a well-known provider in Ukraine, who crimped the connector with a crimper about a year ago at my home. Their work in the photo is circled in red, and the connector crimped with a screwdriver is circled in green.
You may need to crimp the cable for the Internet with your own hands for various reasons.
In some cases, it is necessary to replace a broken ferrule on the provider's wire because it is worn out.
Someone is trying to connect a PC to a router using a twisted pair cable. Some people look for this information when they want to create a local area network at home.
In any case, before moving on to the very process of building a network or repairing a wire, you need to understand a few things.
What types are twisted pair and what is it. Otherwise, how to figure out which wire you need to buy?
What is required to crimp a cable? You need to understand what connectors and tools are currently being used.
What types of crimps are there? The type of crimping depends on the purpose for which the cable must be crimped.
How to crimp an internet cable at home? Surely not all ordinary users store special equipment at home.
After reading this information, you can be sure that the twisted pair crimping process will become simple and straightforward. You can easily restore your Internet connection or connect your home computers to a local network.
Twisted pair is a type of communication cable. It is most often used in the creation of computer and Internet networks.
Extremely cheap production and ease of installation ensure its widespread use: in offices, apartments, telephony, television.
There are single-pair cables (only two braided wires are used inside) and multi-pair cables - over two pairs of conductors.
Home and office use (usually) a 4-pin cable.
The cheapest kind of all is UTP cable.
It does not have any shielding, it is usually laid in walls, cable ducts and is very sensitive to any electromagnetic radiation.
A more advanced cable is the FTP standard. Inside, a shielding winding of all twisted pair cores is used. Such a protection scheme makes it appear resistant to electromagnetic radiation and can be used for internal external work, depending on the material of manufacture of the outer shell. It can be laid both in the cable skirting board and along the walls for fixings.
The most secure standard is STP. It has a screen for each pair of wires separately and a common screen in the form of a grid. It is very often used in industry and data centers.
It is interesting! Do-it-yourself computer desk: drawings with dimensions of parts and video instructions!
Twisted pair is also divided into categories, depending on its bandwidth.
To create a home LAN, just use cat 5 or 5e ... In company offices, 5, 5e are usually used, less often 6, 6a, and 7 and 7a.
Twisted Pair Bandwidth by Category:
Cat 5 - pairs work with a frequency of up to 100 MHz, transmit up to 100 megabits per second;
Cat 5e - pairs with an operating frequency of up to 125 MHz, transmits up to 1 thousand megabits per second (1 gigabits per second);
Cat 6 and Cat 6a - pairs operate at a frequency of 250 and 500 MHz, respectively, and can transmit up to 10 gigabits per second;
Cat 7 and 7a - pairs operate at a frequency of 600 and 1200 MHz, respectively, and can transmit up to 100 gigabits per second.
The most popular of them at the time of this writing is the FTP Cat 5e twisted pair cable, because it can transfer data at speeds up to 1 gigabit / s and at the same time is quite cheap. It is this cable that should be purchased to create a local computer network or connect a PC to a router.
Twisted pair crimping or crimping is a process during which the cable is cleaned of external insulation, straightened and untwisted, and then inserted into the 8P8C connector (aka RJ45 connector) and clamped.
This procedure may be needed in several cases, for example:
the connector on your internet cable is broken;
you decide to connect two computers to a wired local area network;
you need to connect your computer to the router via a cable;
you need to extend the wire through the outlet;
and many others.
It is not difficult to crimp an Internet wire at home, however, for an ideal result, you will need some tools and accessories, namely:
twisted pair of the required length;
press tongs (crimper);
one or two connectors (it is better to buy a few in reserve).
At the moment, two types of cable crimping are used. One of them is called straight, and the other is cross-crimped (or cross-crimp). They differ in the pinout of the cores in the connector and in practical application.
It is interesting! Slitting walls for wiring: tools and types of surfaces, video instruction
This view is used to connect two different types of devices, that is, when connecting:
computer to the router;
TV to the router;
a computer to the switch;
router to the switch;
computer to the modem.
It is called "straight" because on both plugs the wires of the cores in rzh 45 will be located in the same order:
This type of pinout is used for connections with a data transfer rate of up to 1 Gbps. At home, straight crimping is most often used to build a local network over fiber optic cable.
Since most ISPs offer rates up to 100 Mbps, they use a different wiring that uses only 1, 2, 3, and 6 cores.
If you are repairing an Internet cable carried out by installers, then you will have to use this option:
Always carefully inspect the patch cord that the provider is laying.
If they use a two-pair crimp, provided that you can re-crimp into all 4 pairs, this will not add speed to you, but it will provide a hassle with pushing all 8 wires.
Used to connect devices of the same type to each other, for example:
computer - computer;
router - router;
TV - computer.
It is called so because of the cross arrangement of the veins in the connector. One end is crimped as in a direct connection, and the other in a modified sequence.
When cross-crimping, all 8 cores are always taken, the figure shows a method that allows speeds up to 1 Gigabit / s. If the equipment does not work with this bandwidth, then the speed will be reduced.
Now that we managed to decide which patch cord to use, we figured out the necessary pinout and how many cores to use, we can proceed to the process itself.
The most correct option when crimping an RJ-45 plug and twisted pair is to use special pliers.
In professional language, they are called crimper.
The name comes from the English word crimper - to crimp.
Why is it worth crimping with crimping pliers:
Convenience - they have a convenient shape and are so easy to use that everyone can use it.
Saving time - all types of nippers have been collected, which will allow you to carry out three procedures with one tool.
Safety - it is impossible to harm yourself with them, only if you do not specifically stick your finger into the cutting pliers.
Everything is ready, now we start crimping.
This requires:
Install the crimped cord into the port and check for a connection. If the LAN or WAN port lights blinked, the Internet appeared, or the desired device appeared on the network, the cable was crimped correctly.
It is interesting! Do-it-yourself electrical wiring in the apartment - step by step instructions
Using a crimper for crimping is professional. However, not every person has it in stock ..
In such a case, there is a simple instruction on how to replace the RJ45 jack using a screwdriver at home.
The preparatory sequence is the same as in the previous version:
cut off the connector, if any;
peel off external insulation, for example with a knife and pliers;
align the length of the wires;
arrange the conductors in accordance with the desired wiring;
insert the wire into the RJ45 plug.
Further, it is imperative to check how the conductors got up. If the order is followed and each is in its own path and touches the golden terminal, proceed to the crimp. You need to put the connector on the table so that the latch is at the bottom. Take a screwdriver and push on the mount in the connector, which will fix the cable itself in the connector.
After that, with the same screwdriver, it is necessary to alternately push through the terminals of the connectors one by one. It is necessary to do so that the terminal contact breaks through the insulation of the core and becomes one piece with the wire.
You need to perform this step very carefully and calculate the force with each press, so as not to pinch the terminal and not break the connector.
As soon as all 8 cores have been clamped, it is required to check the operation.
To start evaluate the fixation so that the connector does not dangle on the cable and does not fly off it ... If everything looks great physically, then you can check the rest.
This can be done in different ways, depending on the purpose for which the crimp was done.
If you made a wire to connect the computer to the router, then connect one plug to the WAN connector on the router, and the second to the Ethernet connector on the PC. If the results are positive, the lights will "blink" and you will be able to establish an Internet connection.
As practice shows, it is not difficult to repair an Internet cable on your own. This procedure does not require any special knowledge, the main thing is to figure out what kind of wire layout will be used.
Otherwise, it's a matter of technology, you can crimp the Internet wire using a special crimper or just use a simple screwdriver. Of course, in the first option, this can be done faster. But the main point of the second is not to buy the instrument. The method is especially relevant for those who do not need to do this work all the time.
