In detail: do-it-yourself repair of a cardan Renault scenic px4 from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
It's time to repair the gimbal. And in particular, the outboard bearings made a noise, and some screamed - the front one, the squeakiest, even almost jammed.
I disassembled and rearranged the plug in the central part. during the previous repair, someone incorrectly assembled and balanced it.

Hi, tell me the number or dimensions of the bearing that is installed in the support
Hello. In the support-sense, suspended. If yes, then the text reads bearing 6006.
and the Zhiguli forks are taken as a basis? either I do not understand something, or I am not asking the question correctly, I ask you to forgive me for that. Everything was done for me under the Zhiguli universal joint, but the suspended bearings were taken under the original. But they departed very little, which you can take suspended to walk longer, there are no questions about the crosspieces, the Zhiguli ones cope with the load. Thanks in advance for the advice and successful operation)))
no, of course, these are PCR plugs (china).

the bearings themselves or the suspension supports did not leave much (after all, it is fashionable to change the bearing itself separately from the support)
Video (click to play). |
the bearings did not leave much, and the anthers of the suspension are also weak, I am thinking of buying a used factory and not hovering my brain (because this is all pretty boring. It goes a little, and the whole replacement of crosses and bearings comes out in about 100 enemy rubles
familiar forks, I recognize the "Polish repair kit" from the Middle Kingdom. The photos are not very good, but I see that they are installed professionally.
the photo is not very good because it was taken on a phone from the times of NOKIA 3310 :)))))
Briefly background - Renault Scenic RX4 2002 was bought in the salon in March 2007, not new, with a mileage of 80,000 km. The holding time is six months. The mileage during this time is about 6000 km, mainly in the city and trips out of the city to the dacha, fishing. Positive impressions of the car appeared immediately after the purchase, although before that I had driven a Peugeot 405 and 406 for six years and was familiar with the French car industry firsthand.
1. The volume of the car - a huge salon, a lot of space for both those sitting in front and those who are sitting in the back.
2. The little things that make the car comfortable when traveling long distances are very thought out - tables in the backs of the front seats, a refrigerated box for drinks, the ability to assemble the salon if necessary by removing or rearranging the seats, the presence of niches, drawers.
3. Excellent visibility.
4. The dynamics of the car is excellent.
5. The windshield is heated, which is simply invaluable in our winter conditions.
6. Stability during braking and excellent handling.
7. Very interesting appearance, the car stands out in the stream and has a very low stealing rate.
8. Ergonomics are mostly on top. Steering wheel joysticks for radio control are very convenient.
9. Cross-country ability on fishing trips, the car showed itself from the best side, practically keeping up with the "Niva"
What I like, but with some caveats:
1. The ergonomics of the driver's seat is not very convenient to use the handbrake, the gear lever moves could be shorter, the driver's seat belt buckle is unsuccessfully located under the armrest, you have to look for it by touch.
2.The noise in the cabin is mostly empty. From various metal parts in the attachment points of the rear row seats and from the spare wheel box. There is practically no such noise in a loaded car.
3. Not very pronounced traction properties of the engine at the bottom. Although you can get used to driving vnatyag.
4. When cornering, the car rolls a little more than a passenger car, although this is a price to pay for high ground clearance.
1. The fact that the car was discontinued
2. It is not possible to block the center differential (clutch) forcibly
3. The cardan is made as a single unit and, when replacing the bearing, it changes assembled (It is possible to lay it collapsible - but this is already an amateur activity)
About the fact that the car is in the mud, does not drive in the snow, stalls, and so on. I can argue - you just need to include the first gear and go quietly vnatyag maintaining the speed of 1500-1600. Does not stall, rides, does not get stuck. The only unusual thing is that the revs have to be kept somewhat higher than on a real jeep with a diesel engine and a low-down, but such cars stand accordingly, and then how often does a city dweller climb into such a jungle to need a low-down and diesel? Now the villager is not particularly eager for trophy raids. For the city and country road, the RX4 has more than enough cross-country ability, comfort and spaciousness are definitely one of the best among classmates. And for those who like to mix dirt - there are Land Cruisers or Oise.
In continuation of his recall, over the past year and 4 months the car has covered 22 thousand km.
What kind of breakdowns I had to go through.
1. Cardan - had to be repaired - to make it collapsible. after repair has already traveled 10 thousand km flight is normal no noise or vibration.
2.front left hub bearing
3. Scheduled replacement of timing belt pulleys, oil, filters, pads.
4.the replacement of the rear shock absorbers is coming
What I was finally convinced of.
1.ergonomics are good, on long trips I do not get tired of the seat with lumbar support very well adjusted on my back
salon-transformer allows you to safely take away 3 passengers and a cube and a half of clothes
2 cross-country ability is more than enough for a crossover - in March, I drove about 6 km along a soggy broken snow-icy forest road to the steam locomotive museum in Pereslavl, in April I was kneading a clay track from UAZs along the edge of a field on a plot of a couple of kilometers a car, and here and there passed calmly, without any problems, in first gear with a slight sub-slip of the front end, but calmly evenly and without a hint of stopping. ... 20 cm curbs do not present any special problems for the car.
3. The motor is quite enough in most situations, both in the city and on the highway and on the country road.
But when fully loaded, the speaker deteriorates noticeably.
4. The reliability of the machine at the height of no failures have never been
5. the handling of the car as a whole is very good for a car of this class
6. the comfort of the suspension is just excellent - the bumps and potholes of the recumbent and sit-down cops are simply not able to break through the suspension, the majority of speed bumps calmly pass the car without the slightest hint of an impact at a speed of 60 km / h.
The final conclusion for itself is a comfortable, large, reliable, spacious car with ample opportunities to move outside the asphalt. It is somewhat expensive to maintain at this stage due to the poor design of the gimbal. But this problem is completely solvable.
Well, finally, they also remade the cardan for me. Photo below.
The feature that I insisted on was that the crosses were not for pressing, but for cotter pins. He justified such a design for himself by the fact that now the crosses can be changed even by yourself, and also with such a design, after replacing the cross, it is not necessary to balance the cardan, which is very laborious, time-consuming and expensive.
Those. with such a design as mine, you can safely change the crosses and suspension ones on the basis of any service station without further balancing the cardan.
But I won't lie, this design has a minus, but it consists in the fact that the crosses are slightly smaller in size than the original ones, i.e.the new crosspieces are not designed with such dimensions for the load of the native crosspieces at their original dimensions, and in this case they will wear out a little faster. And also the crosses for cotter pins (as I was told) themselves go a little less than the crosses for pressing, because under pressure are more closed and protected. In a word, I was told that, for example, if the crosspieces for crimping depart 90,000-100,000, then for cotter pins 30,000-40,000. But I am still referring to the fact that our pendants do not run more than 30,000 and they need to be changed, which prevents us from throwing new crosses at the time of replacement. This is purely my opinion, based on personal reasons and possibilities.
The dimensions of the crosses supplied to me are -23.82 (cup diameter) X 61.29 (height).
The outboard bearings are said to be the same size as the original.
Here are the photos themselves.
PS - thank you all for the info on the alteration and the coordinates of these alterations
This is the topic. It feels like they are waiting for them.: Yahoo:
Although no one forbids the same to look where it is cheaper. We have to work hard with the search for analogs for spare parts. In many respects, of course, it all depends on whether any part itself died from natural wear and tear or was killed. And the prices for spare parts, I think, are determined by non-mass.
By the way, the ball bearings have long been republished, and the notorious cardan floats on both Hondas and Jerboa / Sportazh. As for the phase regulator, it seems like enough for 100 thousand people. And by the way, the Nissan 2.0 is also not without sores (I don't know about 2.5). Already a lot of information has been met about increased fuel consumption due to the increase in the length of the chain and the departure of the valve timing - so the chain is not a panacea for all ills.
And my personal opinion is that manufacturers have already learned how to make cars for a certain mileage (warranty), and then pay the money gentlemen, with old cars going without repairs they missed a lot!: Ireful3:
As far as I understood in Moscow, Eurocardan drives the cardan shafts - they threaten to make anything. The question is - is it necessary? If you get sick of your own, then yes, but if the driver is calm like a boa constrictor, I think the native is like.
As for oil consumption, yes, I already know, but even a serviceman who is interested in repairs insists that this is the norm, and my brother had a Compass with 40 thousand mileage, so the whole level also survived by changing the oil.
A wedged throttle is unpleasant, but replacement is easy (not like a Volvo with a CAN interface, for example), and other manufacturers are no better.
The reviews on the box are a little embarrassing, the risk of disrupting the first and the back (it is hefty high-speed here). But it can only frighten. I remember at 10-ke they also told me - the box breaks, but it seems like driving. When a person imagines the physics of the processes in the transmission, he first selects the free moves of the entire mechanism, and only then allows the wheels to fall into the axle boxes.
Yes, I forgot to add: the mat in the trunk came from Nissan-Kashkai one to one (400 r on the market)
62alex. What is this device? This type of changer is connected to the back of the radio tape recorder or the type of MP3 player to the FM modulator, and where is the video (you need a TV or it has its own).
If it's not difficult would be a photo or a link where you can see.
And I also wanted to ask: whose salon is better than Rex or Koleos? Well, in the sense of space, transformability, ease of landing. All the same, we went on both.
Alexander, do you have anything to do with car repair? If possible, tell us more about the symptoms of 1st and 5th gear malfunctions. By the way, as I understand it, the gears of the 5th gear are pretty easy to change?
62alexAlexey, regarding the windshield, I have a strong suspicion that it is no longer heated, since having removed the plastic shields, I did not see the wires to the glass, unless of course they pass somewhat differently. The relays in this case are easily accessible and I have them connected and clean / dry. But next to the relay there is a connector with two very thick wires without an inserted mating part - what can I not imagine?
A small report on the mileage of 525 km and the problems that arose during it! :)
The prehistory is as follows - the parent got sick at home, and since the people in those places had already grown up, and it wasn’t quite true to her words that everything was fine and nothing terrible, my sister and I decided to hit the road there and back.
We left on Wednesday afternoon. The temperature overboard in the Moscow region was kept within -23.24. Outside Ryazan, the temperature crept steadily downward. It was interesting to see how the numbers changed on the display. As a result, closer to Shatsk, the sensor showed -30. I have already read that in Koleos it seems to be less and does not seem to be, well, I think it's still relatives - it means that it will be so here, but it turns out that the sensor works on RX4 and further. True, I don't know how much further, but -31 showed.
Closer to Umeth (a shashlik village - almost 4 km of shashlik and not only), he began to notice the appearance of unhealthy noise when the gas was thrown off and the engine braked, and when the steering wheel was deflected to the right from the middle position, a very strong vibration was felt on its left side. The first thought is that the CV joint is dying, but it is strange that it is so suddenly and without much stress. Although there was a suspicion of loosening the wheel bolts, he did not dare to stretch out in such a frost.
As a result, the rest of the track was done at low speed, and in turns I barely rolled, the progression of noise and vibration stopped a little.
After the arrival, the car immediately drove into the garage and found that one bolt on the left front wheel was broken off and missing. Having jacked it up, it became clear that the noise and vibration came from the wheels that had already begun to dangle. An attempt to unscrew the remaining bolts led to the breakage of two more, and two turned out intact.
As a result - on the street -30, in the garage with a still warm car -23. I decided to drill out the remnants of the bolts. Unfortunately, sitting with a booty on a concrete floor, even with a padded jacket lining under this part of the body, was difficult to endure for more than 30 minutes. Sweat flows from all parts of the body from effort, and as soon as you stop to rest, you immediately freeze.
Having drilled one bolt, I realized that the brake disc was interfering with getting to its remains, and if it was removed, then the matter would go faster. And here the French prepared a surprise - well, who knew that there were bolts on the caliper with a head at 18. Then I just began to fall asleep and decided to postpone everything for the next day.
The search for a head or a good key for 18 was crowned with success only after lunch (many thanks to a fellow villager for the keys). The brake caliper is removed, then the brake disc. Then it turned out that the bolts protrude from the other side of the hub by 4-5 mm. After unsuccessful attempts to knock out or unscrew the already reamed fragment, I made a decision - I remove the steering knuckle, press out the hub, although of course it was a pity to ruin the bearing.
With the hub removed, the bolts were dismantled in 3 hours with occasional tea drinking and thinking about how to order and get a bearing and bolts from Moscow.
In general, on Friday evening, a messenger left the capital with spare parts - a hub bearing, a head for 18, a head for 21, a key for 21, wheel bolts, a sealant for fixing the threads of the brake caliper mounting bolts. Everything was received on Saturday morning. Before lunch, the bearing was pressed into the fist and the hub into the bearing - the fit was very tight, but everything worked out. And then it was already easier and everything was collected. The wheel disk was almost not damaged, but for greater confidence he put a man behind the wheel and made him roll on bumps and the road, while he himself looked from the side. I didn’t notice the wobbling and beating, and I didn’t feel it on the steering wheel either.
The way back was passed with the sound of the radio tape recorder being attenuated almost to the end, but nothing critical happened and on the approach to the capital the speed already reached 130-140 km / h.
These are the weekend. What could have caused this, mistakes when changing shoes from summer wheels to winter ones, temperature tests, poor-quality bolts, or a confluence of all these factors together - I do not have a clear answer.
What I will note also - when replacing the pads, you will need a not quite standard hexagon for 7, the rack and fist are pulled by bolts with heads and nuts for 21, a locking bolt of a ball joint with a head and a nut for 16, a steering rod with a nut for 21 and a wrench for 13 on the very cravings.
Regarding the heater in such a frost, if it were not for the heating elements in the cooling system, I’m not sure that the cabin would have had a positive temperature. They obviously worked all the way.
Regarding the cooled box in front of the high-speed lever - to be honest, I expected it to be heated in winter and without a second thought put a bottle of juice in it to warm it up. After 2 hours, I pulled out a piece of ice - it turned out to be a refrigerator in winter: (/ :).
:) Thanks to everyone who will read to the end and will not scold for such a long story :)

The result - 4 days of my working time were wasted, 4 weeks of fairy tales, abuse and nerves, respected people were disturbed to resolve the issue, and the gimbal was repaired and installed, the flight was normal.
Conclusions:
1. If I knew in advance, I would NEVER contact this office
2. You can not give a large advance payment
3. Money to pay only after checking the product in operation, there should be no extraneous sounds, vibrations, backlash, etc., all excuses - nafig
4. Document the transfer of money
5. Have iron nerves, calmness.
6. It is good to know the structure of your car, the materiel is shorter, this is what helped me to stop all attempts to hang up noodles with headphones.
I also made my cardan shaft there, and I was very very dissatisfied with such poor quality repairs, I have not yet seen.

Viser_, buy a good, lively stage, lift it up and cover it with plastic och, I'll say it's cheaper than buying an RX and removing the gimbal

Viser_, but what makes it easier if the current output is removed altogether from the rear-wheel drive?
and now just this very resource of the RX series is rolling up - they were produced in 2000-2003 .. just the mileage in the region of 120 thousand, the khan in percentage of 70 cars will be IMHO ..

It seems like they have already learned - they made a rear cardan for the Frenchman, in the end it turned out to be collapsible

We restore such a shaft.
We make it collapsible. After repairs, you can independently change both the crosses and the suspension ones as needed.
We balance it in the same way.

Diagnostics of cardan malfunctions
The first and most common problem with this unit is the outboard bearing, and the second, slightly less common, is the cross. Symptoms in both cases are the same: noise, vibration, rustling, shock at the start, etc.

about fazik, are you pulling out a healthy tooth right? so here is the fazik, it needs to be changed as needed, it walks differently, one departed 125 thousand the second 95 thousand, it costs 1500 UAH
Renault Scenic 2.0 04/2003 DP0 (akhtung?)
The run is 81200 km, and I don't know if someone changed the timing belt there or not.
As for the phasic, it is clear - just, say, change the belt and so on for a lot of money - and after 10000 km the phase shifter starts chirping.
Removing the belt / pulleys / blah blah blah again?
Will I contact you on the PM about spare parts and places where not stupid people with even hands could put them?

yes mileage is twisted I think anyway, somehow too little
by timing it is easy to check, if the timing was changed, then, as a rule, they had to change the belts and rollers add. equipment, take a look at its inscriptions, they with a mileage of 60 thousand should still be read, closer to 90 thousand they are no longer visible, just as you can see the inscriptions on the timing belt. you can still remove the additional belt. equipment and look at the fracture for cracks and the presence of threads, if any, then the belt has long exceeded 110 thousand
the death of Fazik can be predicted in advance, the engine in the timing area begins to make noise, and it works like a diesel engine, like so
there is a record of when the phasic "arrived" and when it was repaired
the phasic can be easily removed, disassembled and repaired, there is nothing complicated
here you can get a lot of information
the machines, in principle, with a timely oil change, go, the service one was on the machine, it seems there were no serious problems, the one that is now on the handle, to be honest, I would like an automatic machine for our traffic jams
contact me, I'll tell you what and how
I'll insert my 5kop. about Rex, otherwise they wrote something that is scary to read
The car itself is very comfortable and practical. In fact, this is the Scenic of the first generation (restyled), which was installed on a new suspension and an all-wheel drive transmission. Accordingly, the questions and sores on the engine, interior and body are the same as in the usual Scenic. And by the way, there are no serious sores, well, there the phase regulators die, the stove motors wedge, the crosses in the steering column break. But nothing criminal.
But the problem with the transmission
1) The main Rex disease is cardan. Crossings and outboard bearings break over time. And according to Renault, this unit needs to be changed only as a whole (well, as usual
2) The second sore of Rex is the checkpoint. Unfortunately (although when it comes to repairs, fortunately) Rex's gearbox is identical to the usual one from Scenic, just a shank for the universal joint was “attached” to it. But the JC7 gearbox turned out to be ill-prepared for the increased load, as a result, if you pull a heavy trailer along the highway, the fifth gear gears often fail. And if you remove the cardan (some do this when there is no money for its repair / alteration) and drive with slippage, it often knocks out the retaining ring and the differential falls apart.Yes, and just an active ride this gearbox does not tolerate well - breakage of teeth and breakout of the gearbox housing are not uncommon.
3) well, and the last four-wheel drive smut - viscous coupling and rear axle reducer. Over time, the viscous coupling can either be locked tightly, or, on the contrary, never be locked. Fortunately, contrary to Renault's opinion, it is quite maintainable, you just need to replace the damper fluid inside - the technology is described in detail on the Russian Renault forums. The gearbox also suffers from oil leakage through the seals of the axle shafts. To avoid this or postpone the replacement of oil seals, you need to regularly clean its breather and change the oil. By the way, the oil seals themselves are on sale and changing is not difficult.
Somehow like this. And the rest - the car is reliable and practical - a galvanized body, an economical and high-torque engine, a spacious, transformable interior with a bunch of drawers and compartments. In general, ErX is not bad and, by the way, quite inexpensive. but it has its sores.
PS: before buying, I recommend flipping through a day or two Russian forum on Reks - you can get a lot of useful information - how to check the viscous coupling, where to look at the motor and gearbox, etc. This will help you not to buy a corpse!
Renault Scenic engines of the second generation are traditionally reliable, however, when servicing and repairing power units, it is recommended to contact specialized specialists or service stations. For example, carrying out work on replacing the timing belt with a run of 50-60 thousand km with your own hands can lead to the fact that the position of the gear of the working shafts will be violated. Tightening the fastening bolts to secure it after an approximate eye adjustment is inappropriate, as the quality of such work will be of poor quality. In parallel with replacing the timing belt, experts recommend replacing the water pump. To ensure high quality of this type of repair and replacement of spare parts and consumables, special equipment, tools and appropriate conditions are required.
It should be noted that the Renault Scenic II 1.6 model, like other cars of this French brand, such as the Megan model, is very demanding on original consumables.
The use of products from other manufacturers significantly affects the operation of many components and mechanisms of these vehicles. Overhaul of the suspension of this Renault model may be required after 100,000 km.
Special attention should be paid to preventive maintenance of all units of the model of the first sample. Factory sealing defects appear rather quickly, and their elimination can be done with your own hands, having the skills to repair a car.
Also, often repair work requires stabilizer bushings. When replacing them, you will need the help of a specialist, and it will be difficult to do this work with your own hands even for a motorist with a certain experience. The rear suspension of the car has a torsion bar structure, and only a specialized specialist can understand it. Another common drawback is the rapid wear and tear of the front wheel bearings. The nature of such faults can be explained by the peculiarity of the front suspension, and the replacement of these parts can be done with your own hands in a garage.
For example, an operation such as flushing the injectors is required much more frequently in the second generation model, in contrast to the 1998 model. This is due to the more demanding fuel system of the updated car. While the work on changing the engine oil is easier to carry out on the new model due to the convenient location of the drain neck and many other factors.
According to the reviews of the masters at the branded service stations, the most problems arise with the cars of 1998 release. This is due not only to their age and high average total mileage, but also to the design features. The second generation car is assembled with a better quality and unforeseen breakdowns or premature exit frombuilding this or that unit, assembly or part are much less common. As an additional example, experts cite an analogy with the evolution of Megan cars. The first models had a lot of shortcomings, but they were eliminated in the designs of the subsequent ones.
The cardan shaft is one of the main mechanisms for rear and all-wheel drive vehicles. It allows the transmission of torque between the axles. The deterioration of this unit or its elements threatens the complete loss of the vehicle's performance and an emergency situation on the road.
We do not recommend delaying the repair of this unit, when the first symptoms appear, since in the future, due to the slightest malfunction, other types of breakdowns may occur, which will lead to an increase in the cost of repairs.
Our company has been repairing Renault Scenic driveshafts in Yekaterinburg for over ten years.High-quality repair of cardan shafts at an affordable price is not a rarity in this region, but a reality. Many car owners turn to ordinary car services for this service, where they are refused or they are repaired extremely illiterately, which further leads to even greater breakdowns and wear of parts.
This is because for a high-quality repair of a Renault Scenic cardan, you need qualified skills and expensive equipment, which is simply not available in car services. As a result of such repairs, the propeller shaft starts to wear out after 1-2 months.
Our company values its reputation and the time of our clients. Therefore, we treat our work with all responsibility and professionalism. In addition, we give all our customers an unconditional quality guarantee equal to six months of operation.
