For such a remote control, Motorola MXv3, from a set-top box under the Beeline brand, the ON / OFF button stopped working. It is clear that the contacts have been erased or dirty. It was very lazy to go to change or buy a new one, and I decided to read how I can solve this problem myself.

There are mentions of a conductive adhesive, but not a single example of its use.

There are a lot of tips to stick a piece of foil. In principle, it is logical and simple, I thought, and started. In short, nothing and what I had at home did not stick to the SILICONE RUBBER. List of attempts:

1. Double-sided scotch tape, black 3M 5386.

2. Chinese analogue of the first scotch tape.

3. Transparent tape, as for phone screens.

4. Construction double-sided tape of two types, thick foamed and thin reinforced.

6. Adhesive sealant for rubber boats.

Apparently a dick than you can glue except for a special glue for silicone, its prevalence is just as vanishingly small as conductive.

Nothing worked with the foil. And it turned out with a copper wire.

We disassemble the remote control. We are looking for and unscrew all the screws. Look under batteries and stickers. If after that it did not fall apart by itself, we arm ourselves with an unnecessary plastic card and try to disengage the latches by picking a slot on the side.

I decided to wipe-clean all contacts with alcohol, just in case, it suddenly works.

True, they write that it is better not to do this with alcohol. you can erase the graphite contacts on the rubber part of the button. Some sort of heresy in general.

Of course nothing will work.

After this ritual, we are looking for old headphones, USB-cords, power supplies, mice. We need a cord from them, or rather one of the cores of the cable. It should be soft and thin like a thread.

We dissolve the cable and get such a vein, I had it from the wire from the headphones. It needs to be burned on a fire, it is varnished, but without fanaticism. If there is varnish, it flares up and burns out in a second. Wipe the wire from the burnt varnish.

We take the thinnest sewing needle and insert the wires into the eyelet.

Then I think you can guess. Carefully, in the center of the button, we stitch it by making one loop. ALWAYS pay attention to how the contacts are located on the remote control board. Depending on this, the loop should be vertical or horizontal, so that it closes the tracks.

After trimming with sharp scissors, everything holds up perfectly.

Gently strip the wires with the finest sandpaper or nail file, literally with one light movement. This is if suddenly there is not burnt varnish.

The remote works better than before. In theory, there is a risk that the button may begin to tear, due to a puncture in it, but I think it’s unlikely.
