In order for a high-quality Saeko coffee machine to serve for a long time and without problems, it is necessary to use it correctly and maintain it correctly. However, this household appliance cannot last forever. Breakdowns or malfunctions can, at a certain moment, disable the unit for the production of a fragrant and invigorating drink. What will help in this situation? Only competent and high-quality repair of Saeco coffee machines.
The range of factors that cause breakdown of this type of household appliances include:
Most often, equipment repairs may be required due to improper operation of Saeco equipment. Sometimes the breakdown is provoked by the use of coffee beans of precisely those varieties that absolutely cannot be used in these models. In addition, malfunctioning of the coffee machine can be caused by incorrect parameter settings. The photo clearly shows what is happening with the unit in this situation.
Since Saeko coffee machines belong to the category of rather whimsical devices, it is optimal to entrust their repair to highly qualified professionals. However, a number of faults can be eliminated by yourself. These failures include:
For example, you can do it yourself to remove limescale deposits from your Saeco espresso machine. To do this, it is enough to use a special video as an instruction. The elimination of the problem is accompanied by the use of special tablets and liquids. You can also use other compositions that help to remove residual oils from the internal structure of the unit.
You can clean the cappuccino maker yourself. For this, it is recommended to use special tools. The photo shows the most effective formulations for carrying out this kind of work.
It is also very important for the owners of such household devices to take into account that the repair of the Saeko coffee machine can be omitted if diagnostics are carried out in a timely manner. It is also worth using only clean water during the preparation of the product. There is no need to ignore the instruction. By following the rules in place, you can avoid malfunctions.
The user can repair the switch with his own hands if it stops working. Sometimes it is enough to check the correct connection of the Saeko coffee machine to the network. The photo shows perfectly how the connection should look like, ideally.
Another commonplace malfunction is the inability to pour a drink. To eliminate the problem, sometimes it is enough just to check the correct installation of the capsule in the device. The lid in the brew area must be tightly closed and the water container must be completely filled with liquid. If the pump is operating too loudly, you should check the correct position of the container with water. In this case, the container must also be filled. Sometimes it is necessary to descale the components of your Saeco espresso machine. How to do this work can be seen in the photo.
If the drink prepared in your Saeco espresso machine is not hot, it is recommended to warm up the cup first. During this manipulation, you should check whether scale has formed. In the photo you can see how this procedure is performed. Self-repair of the device can also be carried out in the event of a water leak. The Saeco-branded device sometimes accumulates liquids in the compartment reserved for used capsules. In this situation, you will need to evaluate the correct installation of the capsule in the coffee machine.
VIDEO If the leak is not eliminated by this method, do not experiment any more. It is best to contact a service center specializing in the repair of Saeco espresso machines. Experts recommend that you give up the temptation to open the body of equipment on your own. Such a decision can result in irreparable consequences for the owner of the device.Disassembling a Saeco machine requires skill and experience. Otherwise, the equipment may be irretrievably damaged and broken.
Coffee is one of my favorite drinks, and besides, on this drink I also earned a little. Let me explain how: there are inexpensive Saeco coffee makers (for example Royal, Viena or Magic), which have a huge resource of work (One of my coffee makers made 16000 without any major repairs and problems). So, I used to buy such coffee makers and rent them out, or I supplied coffee and consumables, and I got money from the portion. I gained a little experience, and decided to share with you, perhaps this information will be useful.
There are few breakdowns in such coffee makers, since their design is as simple and reliable as possible.
Most of the breakdowns are caused by improper use, unstable voltage and "hard" water.
I will name and briefly describe the breakdowns of Saeco coffee makers, and how you can solve them yourself. In short, because I will describe the specific breakdown in more detail in new articles, where there will be a master class on disassembling Saeco coffee makers, replacing parts, repairing ...
Let's take the most common and simple Saeco Viena as an example.
- Power is not being supplied.
The power cord or plug is damaged. You need to check the presence of voltage in the outlet. Solution: To do this, plug another known working device into the outlet, or use a tester. If other devices work, then you can check the cord itself by external inspection (for mechanical damage) or when disassembling the coffee maker.
- The front door of the Saeco Viena is not closed.
This is also a common reason. After cleaning the working unit or during transportation, there are situations when the door opened slightly and thus turned off the power circuits. How to repair: open and close the front door of the coffee maker. When fully closed, the door should fit snugly against the body (it is fixed with two magnets - on the body and the door).
- A power surge has blown the fuse.
This issue needs to be resolved only with a full or partial disassembly of the coffee maker (in the next articles we will do all this). Fuses can be located on the board, on the wires (depending on the model).
Breakdowns with the board (rarely), stabilization unit (extremely rare) or with internal wires are also possible. We will consider all these breakdowns and repairs of the Saeco coffee maker with our own hands in the following articles. If you have any questions or additions, write to us by mail, we will definitely publish the answers to them.

Smart and solid equipment of the Italian company Saeco, subject to the basic rules of operation, will serve faithfully for a long time.Products of the popular brand are distinguished by excellent resistance to various malfunctions. This applies to both electric samovars, kettles and coffee machines. In addition, a whole year after the purchase of household appliances, the company provides warranty repairs, which once again testifies to the high quality of products. However, over time, any mechanism can fail, so it will not be superfluous to find out how to repair Saeco coffee machines and whether you can do it yourself.
Many owners of coffee machines of a well-known brand commend their performance and productivity with dignity. The coffee machine is very convenient, simple, does not make noise during operation and consumes a minimum of electricity. However, there is no perfect technique that never breaks. There may be enough reasons for Saeco to repair, for example:
improper operation;
very hard water;
poor quality of grains;
natural wear of rubbing parts.
Before proceeding with the diagnosis of the malfunction and its repair, let's figure out how the coffee machine works using the example of the Saeco Vienna model.
The functionality of this type of machines is very wide, they are able to:
Grind coffee beans.
Brew coffee.
Prepare milk froth for various drinks.
Important! All tasks are handled by the main elements of equipment that need regular maintenance.
The main elements of the coffee machine are:
Brewing mechanism. All Saeco coffee machines are equipped with a removable brew unit. This greatly simplifies the process of cleaning the element.
Boiler. It is in it that the water for drinks is heated.
Hydraulic system of the machine.
Cappuccino maker. This device is intended for frothing milk and forming a delicate froth.
Drip tray.
Waste coffee container.
The coffee dispenser is fully automated:
The ground coffee falls into the flat bowl inside the cylinder.
When grinding is complete, a mechanical signaling device is triggered and the servo drive starts to work.
The piston with the cylinder turns on its side and begins to move towards the stop, where the brewing of the drink will take place.
At the end of the brewing process, the mechanism takes the opposite action. At the same time, the inclined cover is triggered, which, becoming perpendicular to the movement, removes the tablet and dumps it into the waste material receiver.
The water in the car moves along a very simple route: water is taken from the tank by a pump (under pressure of 15-20 atm.) And enters the boiler. The boiler itself is round and consists of two halves, which are bolted along the entire perimeter. A heating element is attached to one part. The bimetallic plate serves as a temperature sensor, its tension is changed with a special handle. This is necessary in order to obtain a temperature for brewing coffee (95 degrees), and to obtain steam, it is necessary to have a temperature of 127 degrees.
To prevent the water from returning back, there is a check valve at the inlet to the boiler. At the outlet, there is a bypass valve, through which water passes for brewing, receiving steam.
Important! What process will take place is decided by the position of the water / steam regulator. It is enough to turn the regulator to the position of water or steam and the bypass valve will work in the required mode.
If all the processes are combined together, then the process of obtaining a drink looks quite simple:
The pump pumps water from the reservoir into the boiler.
The water is heated to the required temperature.
The bimetallic plate is triggered and the contacts of the heating element open.
The signal light comes on.
Pressing the key allows you to get a ready-made drink or to make a froth.

If Saeco repairs are made when breakdowns and malfunctions appear, then the equipment must be serviced regularly. The performance of the device and the quality of the drink depend on this.
During the operation of the device, scale will inevitably form on the inner surface of the heating elements. In such cases, cleaning the machine is an absolute must.
Important! The procedure for cleaning a coffee machine is different from cleaning kettles and irons. This is a larger-scale and more laborious work, encompassing all the elements of the apparatus.
To carry out the cleaning procedure, follow the recommendations of specialists:
Remove the infuser, rinse and reinstall. This procedure does not require special tools and cleaning agents. You can clean it at any time convenient for you, but regularly, because the taste of the drink depends on the purity of this element.
Use Saeco descaling agents or similar products from other companies to clean the boiler. The cleaning cycle can be either manual or automatic. Depending on the model of the device, the boiler control system will inform about the need to clean the boiler - this can be a message on the display or an icon on the panel.
The process of cleaning the hydraulic system of the machine is associated with the removal of coffee oils. Cleaning is done automatically. Use cleaning tablets to improve the effectiveness of the procedure.
The cappuccino maker must be cleaned of dry milk residues in advance. The frequency and complexity of the cleaning procedure depends on the model of the device. In any case, follow the manufacturer's instructions when cleaning this element.
Rinse the coffee grounds tray and container under the tap. The main thing is to do it regularly and in a timely manner.
Important! When planning to independently carry out all the preventive work on the care and maintenance of the coffee maker, choosing a cleaning agent, review the information on special descaling tablets. They are very easy to use and have a fairly high efficiency.
If the coffee machine is used in a domestic environment, then a Saeco overhaul may only be required after five thousand drinks have been prepared. However, the lack of service for decalcifying the device can lead to breakdown, since in this case the heater inside the boiler may fail. But perhaps the most common cause of breakdown is the normal wear and tear of the device.
Important! According to the technical specifications, the main components of the coffee machine must be replaced after preparing several thousand servings of the drink. For example, the following elements are subject to replacement:
Boiler heating.
Coffee grinder.
Brewing mechanism.
Steam generator, etc.
Repairing Saeco coffee machines is complicated by the fact that the unit body is not separable. From above, you can remove the cover and unscrew a huge number of screws, only after that you can get the inside of the unit out. In case of some breakdowns, the repair of the device can take a considerable time and can only be carried out by specialists from the service center, especially if it is a major overhaul and a large number of spare parts need to be replaced.
Repairs to a Saeco machine always start with dismantling the machine.
Important! If you do not have a sufficient level of relevant knowledge, then do not even try to disassemble the machine. In addition, working with electricity is always associated with a risk to life, therefore, during repairs, it is necessary to strictly observe safety requirements.
If you decide to troubleshoot and repair Saeco yourself, the procedure for disassembling the coffee machine is as follows:
Disconnect the unit from the mains.
Open the front cover.
Remove the waste compartment and coffee dispensing spout.
Pull the mug holder and tray out towards you.
Remove the water container.
Remove the bean container. It is secured with two Phillips screws.
Remove another screw under the water tank.
There may be a screw deeply recessed behind the bean compartment; if there is one, unscrew it.
Pull the handle and remove the top cover of the machine.
Detach the water hose that is attached to the top cover.
Remove the front door with a screwdriver.
Remove the entire unit from the case.
A coffee machine is a rather complex device:
There are at least three motors inside that require power.
The power supply itself is a pulse one. Therefore, the transformer is powered through a power transistor, which, in turn, is controlled by a high-frequency pulse generator. Usually it is a small microcircuit.
The microcircuit is supplied with power from the diode bridge.
At the input, there are numerous filters consisting of capacitors, resistors and chokes.
Fuses do not stand in the transformer circuit, but are powered through varistors if the circuit overheats. The protective element, very often, is a low-resistance resistor, which burns out from an increase in the current load.
Important! The voltage of the high-frequency generator is fed to the power transistor, forming high-frequency pulses, which, passing through the transformer, are filtered and rectified. As a result, not current is supplied to the primary winding, but high-frequency pulses.
In order to check all the elements of the power supply, special tools are required. But sometimes you can determine a breakdown without opening the case, for example:
If the pump works, but the water does not flow, it is most likely that the bypass valve has broken.
The unit does not turn on - electrical problems, that is, a problem with the power supply or engine.
Important! If you are a true connoisseur of coffee, you will probably also be interested in reading about the best varieties of coffee and tea.
