In detail: do-it-yourself laptop cover repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
A laptop or netbook is more personal than a desktop computer. And it would seem that it should break less. Opened, worked, closed. And in general, everything has been so for several years. Opened - closed, opened - closed, opened - not closed = (. Yes, unfortunately it happens that one day the fasteners on a laptop or netbook break. Sometimes the word "break" sounds softly, - the racks are pulled out of the mountings.
So how do you make DIY laptop (netbook) hinge repair... Or how to replace laptop hinges (mounts, stands)... Frankly, this is not an easy task. So if the nerves are playing pranks or taking apart the laptop for the first time, then it is better to take it to the workshop. By the way, if you are interested in repairing or restoring a laptop battery, then please read and solve your problems. Okay, let's get started.
There are two stages laptop hinge repair... We will talk about them now.
Let's say you have already spun the laptop yourself. And they detached the cover with fasteners. I hope we did everything neatly. As a result, we should see something like this:
It can be seen that as a result of frequent use or neglect of the laptop. Were broken racks of the laptop case. AND hinges torn out with bolts and mortise screws... Hmm. sadly. Well, let's not get upset. It could be worse. We turn on the soldering iron to warm up, and at this time we unscrew the bolts from the hinges. As you may have guessed, we need to solder the mortise bolts back into the laptop case. But first you need to build up the plastic a little. Having done this, we take the broken off screw with tweezers and attach it to its place, pressing it down with a soldering iron so that it is heated and the plastic succumbs to deformation.

Here's what you should get:
Having beautifully installed it in its place, do not forget that a bolt will be twisted into it. Therefore, we take this bolt and do a check. It should spin. And so we fuse in all the other screws. Just do it carefully and set it in place as clearly as possible. Otherwise, when assembling the laptop, you will not be able to assemble it.
So, we're done with the screws. But there is another problem. Namely, this is when laptop case rack also broken. It looks like this:
How to make repair of laptop racks (netbook)... In principle, similar to the fusion of screws. Only in the rack will we fuse the nut. Naturally, you need to choose the right size. And the most important thing! Mounts for the laptop case (netbook) should remain the same height as it was. Otherwise, you will have to look for a longer bolt. As a result, it should look like this:
Well, I think you have succeeded. Everything is clear and smooth. Now you can twist the laptop and use it. That's it, it seems that everything is so simple =) Five minutes and you're done. But in practice, and if for the first time, then it is not at all so easy. For the first time I suffered all day. It happens that the first method does not help or will no longer help. In this case, to your attention the second way.
This option is, let's say, more reliable. Because the laptop hinges will be fixed to the case with bolts and screws from the garage =)
And in a slightly different way. In the first version of our repair, we made the bolts go through the hinges and screwed into the upper part of the laptop case (where the keyboard is). Over time, laptop mounts can break again. And this time laptop hinges (netbook) will be fixed to the bottom of the case. But she needs to be prepared. Remember, I wrote above what to do with laptop case mounts? Now, do this for four racks.Choosing the height depending on the bolts that you picked up. It looks the same as picture # 4.
After all the necessary steps have been completed. You can try to twist the laptop. Such a mount will definitely hold up better. Because the hinges are fixed not only in the body, but also inside.

โI want to know everythingโ and โCrazy pensโ in one bottle!
This laptop ASUS z99 was something of a mobile entertainment center. A little girl spent especially a lot of time with this laptop: she watched cartoons and educational programs, drew, listened to audio fairy tales. It was especially chic for her to close the laptop at the end of work ๐
Generally the cover of this laptop opened and closed several times a day. And she first began to crack, and then completely broke off. And the hinges broke off from the attachment points both in the plastic cover itself and at the base of the laptop case! The laptop is not very old, powerful enough and fully functional, so I had to take up the repair.
The very design of the hinges in ASUS z99 models turned out to be unsuccessful - they are very short in shoulder span, which means they caused a very large load on the attachment points. Even worse was hinge fastening method with the help of bosses cut into the plastic, into which screws were then screwed in. Well, the worst thing is the boss seats molded from brittle plastic! Instead of making saddle loops in laptop lid monolithic, would-be engineers made only 3 wells (per loop), with a wall thickness of 1.5-2 mm! Between 4 and 8 stiffeners were placed around these wells, but this did not save the seats from cracking and subsequent destruction.
This is the first one that came across to me ASUS laptop with such serious engineering miscalculations ...
I disassembled the laptop, examined all the breakdowns - and was shocked by the design decisions. After analyzing the reasons for the destruction of the hull and assessing the design flaws, he decided that metal hinges need to be modernized. To do this, I made an impression of the hinge seat using polymer clay (plastic). Then he measured the dimensions of the impression to estimate the free space. It turned out that the left loop at the base can be lengthened by 12mm, and the right loop can be made longer by as much as 30mm! So what were the engineers thinking?
In places hinge fastening to the base of the laptop, under the decorative plastic, I found a steel plate 1.5 mm thick. The idea immediately came up not to restore the destroyed plastic seat, but to make a new one from metal and attach it to a steel plate with a screw. I asked my father to order metal crackers from a milling machine friend, but Dad decided not to spend money in his own style and made the parts himself. I sawed out the form with a hacksaw and a file, holding a brass bar in a vice. It turned out not very nice, but cheap and cheerful ๐
Having received improved hinges, I removed the excess plastic from the attachment points. When the hinge with the biscuit sat in place, I carefully drilled holes in the metal frame of the laptop and cut a thread into it.
Immediately, the idea arose of how to attach new crackers even more tightly. And in our case, the stronger, the more chances that it will not be violated alignment of the right and left hinges... And the alignment ensures that there is no twisting deformation and no hinges breaking out of the fasteners in the laptop lid. In general, if not to be clever, in addition to fastening with a screw, I also decided to glue metal crackers with epoxy glue. To do this, I drilled many holes in the plastic - this gives an additional contact area for the glue, and also reinforces the attachment point, since the resin will be attached even to the metal under the plastic.
It is good to glue with epoxy, but you need to avoid getting resin in the holes for the screws, and most importantly, protect the threads in the plate from glue! The decision came instantly - I just filled the holes with paraffin (or stearin?) From the candle, to guarantee I even melted everything with the help of fire ๐
When the parts and seating were ready, I mixed the fast-curing epoxy resin and supplied the improved hinges in place... Until the resin hardened completely, I removed the paraffin from the holes with a toothpick and screwed in the screws. Now this is definitely the strongest place in a laptop ๐
Continue laptop repair it turned out only after a few days. The most difficult thing was to restore destroyed hinge fasteners inside the lid.
I decided to cast the hinge saddles from the same epoxy resin. To do this, I wrapped the loops in foil so that they would not stick. I screwed the lugs onto the screws, and filled the rest of the holes with paraffin. With the help of plasticine, I formed the boundaries of the seat. It was necessary to make more seats, but I was afraid that later the screen will not fit.
After that, he kneaded the resin right on the spot, for this he poured half of it in one position, and then turned the double syringe 180 degrees. When the solution is completely homogeneous, pressed the noose assembled to its new location.
I did the same with second loop: wrapped in foil, molded a shell from plasticine, filled the entire volume with resin, pressed the loop into place.
A few days later he continued ASUS laptop repair... The resin had completely hardened by this time, so I unscrewed the screws and carefully removed the hinges from my saddles.
Removed the remnants of foil and plasticine. Slightly trimmed the protruding areas of the resin around the perimeter. Everything turned out as I wanted. Strong and even beautiful ๐
It remains only to make sure that the glue does not interfere with the assembly of parts, well, actually assemble laptop.
The assembly took less than 10 minutes. Here, meet, completely refurbished laptop ASUS z99.
Dealing with such repairs is quite troublesome. Much easier replace the case, or just buy an external monitor ๐ I started this repair only because I realized mistakes in the design of the ASUS z99 laptop. Replacing the case would only delay new breakdowns, I wanted to improve the design a little and save enough good laptop from his innate problems.
It seems to work, although I think the right loop will still try to break off from the already cracked laptop cover... It was necessary to cast a larger saddle from epoxy, or lengthen the hinge lever with an iron pad. Well, you can do this another time, maybe nothing else will break ๐
After about a year, the screen began to wobble slightly on one side. As expected, the resin peeled off from the plastic of the lid. The second time I made a large epoxy outflow area, I had to immediately do this ๐
Today I will talk about how spending only 126 rubles i succeeded securely fix a broken laptop cover yourself, without having any special skills and tools.
There will be a lot of photos and fairly detailed descriptions, if you have any questions, opinions, healthy criticism - be sure to write in the comments at the end of the article, I think it will be useful for many.
So, the story is painfully banal, the laptop slipped off the couch and fell, while the cover broke in the hinge area so that the screen stopped fixing in the desired position, strove to fall, and to close the cover or open it with one working hinge, one had to resort to very scrupulous , dangerous rituals, which did not add comfort when working.
Using a laptop with a broken case has become simply dangerous, at any moment there was a high probability that the loop would break, the matrix or the remaining loop would break, and the device could be thrown into the trash. its cost would be close to buying a new one.
First of all, I started looking for a new cover for my Sony Vaio laptop, instead of the broken one, and, although the model is quite common, I, for reasonable money, could not find a good offer in my city, and even in the region, either in services for repair, or Avito.
Then and the decision was made to try to restore the existing cover for a while, while I am looking for a replacement, because the laptop is used quite actively at home for work and I wanted to avoid more serious breakdowns.
Since the decision to repair the hull in the loop area is temporary, it was supposed to spend a minimum amount on its implementation.
Then I went to the nearest "French supermarket with a bird" and bought the following:
- Epoxy universal adhesive EDP - 106 rubles
- Super-glue "Sekunda" - 12 rubles
- White construction bag - made of polypropylene fiber - 8 rubles
By the way, by the way, you could still save money by choosing a smaller volume of epoxy glue and the cheapest superglue, and even bring the bag from the garage. ๐
So, as you understood, I decided to just glue the laptop lid with epoxy glue, reinforcing the connection with polypropylene fiber, running ahead I will say, it turned out so reliably that the laptop has been working with the case restored in this way for more than 8 months.
First of all, for repair, you need to remove the cover, in my model, for this I had to unscrew the fastening screws at the corners of the screen, hidden behind the rubber dampers.
We also unscrew some elements, such as the camera and antennas, on the inside of the lid, it is best to photograph all the stages in detail, so that later you donโt forget what, where and how it was fixed, in fact, this is how this report turned out.
After the laptop was disassembled, it became clear that the destruction was large enough, not only the cover was broken, but also the hinge fasteners and even the reinforcement - a steel plate running along the entire side wall of the screen.
In the photo, you can also see traces of a hasty repair, which I tried to do right after the breakdown was discovered - filling a crack in the case with two-component glue, like the one in the photo below. Such a repair did not last long, it took a couple of times to open and close the laptop, and the connection cracked. This once again confirms that recovery needs to be approached more thoroughly.
The laptop lid and the missing fragment were thoroughly cleaned with ordinary sandpaper and I applied deep enough notches on them with a clerical knife for more reliable glue fixation, after which the surface was degreased with an alcohol solution.
For greater rigidity of the structure, not only the gluing site itself was prepared, but also a large area around.
Then all the pieces of the lid were glued together using super glue, in the order in which they were located before the breakdown, including the mortgage for the screw that fixes the hinge.
Further, following the instructions for preparing a two-component epoxy glue, we prepare the composition.
Actually, the glue consists of resin and hardener, they must be mixed in approximately the following proportion of 10-12 parts of resin per 1 part of hardener. For accurate mixing, I used a graduated syringe from a children's antipyretic agent, and mixed and applied the adhesive with a stick of baby yogurt-ice cream.
At the same time, two patches were prepared, cut out with scissors from a construction bag according to the dimensions of the glued surface. Then an even layer of epoxy was applied to the surface of the broken laptop lid.
Then a polypropylene patch is applied to the glue and ironed carefully so that the glue underneath will show through.
After that, the whole procedure is repeated, an even layer of glue is applied on top and another patch, which is also carefully ironed. Finally, all this is filled with an even layer of epoxy glue.
Next, it is imperative to wait about a day, and if you did everything right - you observed the proportions when preparing the glue, you should get a very strong reinforced glue layer. In my case, it looked like this:
When the coating hardened, I did the same on the inside of the lid, the only difference was that only one layer of reinforcing material was used. In addition, it was necessary to cut out in advance the places for fasteners, latches and other elements in the patch.
In the end, it turned out like this:
After complete drying, about another day later, all protruding parts of the patch and glue were cut off with a clerical knife, in addition, the edges were processed with sandpaper.
Then the laptop was assembled, in the reverse order of the analysis, by the way, the photos taken helped a lot.
As a result, the restored, glued laptop lid looks like this:
Yes, of course, aesthetically it is not very elegant, but as a temporary solution, and even more so affordable for everyone at the cost of implementation, I think it has the right to life.
The laptop started working with renewed vigor, and most importantly, I am calm for its safety, I can, as before, adjust the tilt of the screen from either side with one hand, hold it on my lap or on the table, I almost forgot that the lid was broken and it was necessary to be extremely careful with to contact him.
As I already said, for more than 8 months (since the beginning of 2017), the connection has been securely held, the gluing site has not parted, new cracks have not formed. I hope this article will help someone restore their laptop, get it back to work, extend its life.
A broken laptop cover, even an old model, is not the end, everyone can restore it.
Moreover, there is a simple, inexpensive way to reliably decorate the resulting patch on the lid so that your friends will ask when you managed to buy a new laptop, I will tell you about it in one of the following articles. ...
How did you do your own laptop cover repair? - be sure to write if you know an easier and more reliable way!
They brought a laptop with a familiar problem to everyone:
Of course, there were still complaints about the fact that it gets warm, stupid, etc., but this is not the main thing. Finally, I decided to share my solution. I use only Poxipol blue. I donโt trust super-glue with soda, or maybe I just donโt know how to use it)) Epoxy dries for a long time. After using Poxipol for the first time, I don't want anything else! )
The quality of the photos leaves much to be desired, but the essence is clear. Go.
Lenovo G780. We disassemble. We see DUST. well, a little boots:
He took off the radiator and noticed a strange thing. Some kind of speck on the process and on the radiator. It feels like some kind of dust got into the assembly. In short, I have not met this. The crystal is rubbed, it seems that there are no visible defects (yellow marks).
Plus, there were no (or maybe not necessary) any thermal interfaces at the points of contact between the video memory and chokes with the radiator. Although the places where the contact should be on the radiator are marked (red marks).
Okay, not about that. We look from the other side of the motherboard - it's a dusty desert:
This is how the broken loop looked from the inside:
I remove the cover with the matrix. It turned out that the right side was also crumbled, but had not yet managed to break the case.
There are several ways of such repairs, depending on the nature of the breakdown. Assessing the scale, I realized that the hinge plates, despite the breakage, lay down without distortions in their places due to the plastic racks and their curved shape. Therefore, it was decided to act in this way:
- I remove the internal extra partitions, they are also stiffeners;
- I fasten the bonds to the hinges;
- I fill the space with poxypol as tightly as possible, to the level of the plate (in this case, with double-sided repair, you need to act extremely quickly and accurately, because the mixture dries very quickly!);
- on top, carefully put the cover with the matrix and hinges in place;
- I sit in one position for 7-10 minutes, without letting go, pressing;
- I leave it for 6 hours, or better for a day.
- gently unscrew, see the result:
- we remove all unnecessary hanging around;
Everything is fine! The lid was fanned like a fan. Nothing fell off. There have already been about 10 such repairs in 1.5-2 years, not a single complaint has been received yet.
I hope it was interesting. Thank you for your attention!
and our boobies cannot do that (they dismiss that it will cost a lot and other garbage.
Usually they offer to replace the case) One friend was told how much it would cost, she decided that it would be better to use the old broken ones. Repaired, everyone is happy, she does not suffer! )
so I didn't fix it, I just don't close it and that's it (
And I screwed the screw into the case =)
But such an insidious design has not been encountered? The dural piece of the hinge with the letter G goes into the cover with the screen and breaks off there. I can't think of a fix option.
I had this, glue for 15 rubles + soda does their job, it turns out a little greasy, but if you adapt, you can do it neatly and beautifully and holds well.
The same loop? Here the surface is scanty for glue, does it really hold?
Yes, the surface is small, so you have to drip glue in a circle and add soda, of course you get a small drop around the fracture site, but it holds perfectly, if you wish, you can file it with a file.
I've been thinking about taking ali, but I don't feel the original there.
Take it, I took it on the g570, everything came up perfectly like my own, the hinges were just torn out, there was nothing to repair there, the bottom of this seller of the hinges in another place also changed USB there, now I'm writing from him))) I don't remember exactly, but it seems like the bottom is about 1000 rubles loops 400 rubles and USB 200 rubles 5pcs with a margin (2pcs were needed) the prices are now slightly different.
Hello. Today I will try to give a small DIY guide to fix something using the example of replacing a broken laptop screen hinge. Yes, in order to replace it, you need to disassemble the floor of the laptop and at first glance it sounds scary, but in fact everything is quite simple and everything about everything takes a little more than an hour.
Who cares, let's go ...
So, laptop crashed, or some other technique, where to start?
1. Of course, you can not take a steam bath, throw it out and buy a new one. Sometimes this is the most optimal option, but if this is not it, let's move on.
2. Can be returned for repair. It's cheaper than buying a new one, but it's not the most budget-friendly solution.
3. Self-repair. Not everyone can go for this, for it is scary to do it worse than it is, but on condition of accuracy and "straight hands", why not.
For 4.5 bucks and a little over an hour (a month of waiting for delivery does not count;), the broken laptop has become repaired.
How much such a repair can cost in a service center, I did not find out, but clearly not the double cost of spare parts. In the same way, you can replace any other part, for example, a broken matrix, a faulty camera, I don't even mention a hard drive or a DVD drive.
In general, gentlemen, do not be afraid to engage in self-repair, but correctly assess your strength, because Viam supervadet vadens (lat.) or The road will be mastered by the walking.
