DIY Lacetti backstage repair

In detail: do-it-yourself backstage repair on the Lacetti from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

The manual transmission of the Chevrolet Lacetti rarely causes complaints, and with timely maintenance and oil change, almost all gears are engaged clearly and quietly. Its design can hardly be called innovative, but it is quite simple to adjust and maintain. How to adjust the rocker on the Chevrolet Lacetti, what is needed for this and when adjustment is necessary, we figure it out together.

The main problem with budget cars is the frequent use of inexpensive materials.

And this leads incorrect work the entire unit or unit. A lot of plastic bushings, clamps and adapters are installed in the Lacetti gearbox drive. They wear out over time, gear changes become indistinct and noisy, some speeds may not turn on at all.

The first sign that the gearbox rocker needs to be adjusted is increased backlash and shifting gears with effort.

Also, adjustment will be necessary in cases where the input shaft of the drive and traction, say, after dismantling the box. Adjustment may not solve all problems, but the box will have more intelligible control.

More will radically affect the behavior of the checkpoint replacement of the wings or replacement of plastic bushings, latches and latches with polyurethane, but they do not appear on the market of spare parts. Therefore, we will adjust the stage with our own hands, fortunately, it will take at most 20-30 minutes.

The meaning of the adjustment is to set the gearbox control shaft and the rocker to their original position relative to each other.

To carry out the work you will need:

  • drill with a diameter of 5 mm;
  • key for 12;
  • Screwdriver Set.
Video (click to play).

Now you can start adjusting.

  1. Set the gear lever to neutral.
  2. We open the hood and find the place of fixing the gearbox drive shaft and traction drive.

The place of fixation is marked with an arrow.

Clamp and loosening it with a 12 key.

The latch is marked with an arrow.

We check the quality of the adjustment by starting the engine and turning on the gears one by one.

The adjustment is repeated if necessary. Thus, you can quickly and independently adjust the gearshift rocker on the Lacetti.

We remove the stopper (it is better to turn on the 5th gear, then it will be more convenient, but still in the invisible zone). We find it by touch. Pry off with a screwdriver and snap off the outer half from the latch, and then pull out the stopper itself.

We loosen the gearbox drive rod bolt (it is not necessary to remove the bolt). The arrow shows the nut, it does not spin, and the bolt must be unscrewed from below with a 12 key.

After pulling out the pin, we open the hinge (red arrow). By removing the spring clips (green arrows) to the sides, we take out the axis of the curtain.

We disassemble the curtain, for which we remove the clamps with round-nose pliers.

We prop the PTFE bushings from below with a 17 key and they pop out.

We set the required distances on the adjustable link. I set it to 84mm on the long arm and 42mm on the short arm. The old wings were 80 mm and 60 mm.

Putting everything together in reverse order.

We install the slide in its rightful place, insert the axis of the slide and snap in the latches, connect the hinge (not forgetting the stopper), the bolt that has been loosened until we tighten it. The gearbox transmission must be set to the "neutral" position. Turning the hinge with one hand and pressing the spring-loaded adjusting pin, we find the position at which it enters the stem hole, thereby fixing it:

Next, we go to the salon. We remove the gearbox cover for which we press on its frame from the side of the torpedo towards the gearbox lever. Next, you need to fix the gearshift lever on the adjusting holes.

We insert there, for example, a screwdriver with a diameter of 4-5 mm.

And now, when both the gear selection rod and the gearbox knob are fixed, tighten the bolt: Take out the screwdriver, release the spring-loaded rod, put on the gearbox cover and that's it. Bottom line: The gearshift lever travel has become much shorter, the gears are engaged clearly. For comparison: Neutral.

This photo report shows in detail how to make with your own hands replacement and adjustment of the short-stroke stage by car Chevrolet Lacetti. Basically, the main symptoms that indicate a faulty backstage are, first of all, a large circle of the gearshift knob in neutral gear, as well as problems with shifting gears, be it first, second or reverse, etc. ... Also similar symptoms, in some cases, it is cured by changing the oil in the gearbox.

If, nevertheless, the cause of all troubles is established and it points to a rocker that cannot be adjusted, for replacement you need:

  • Fine-tipped pliers;
  • Wrench 12;
  • Open-end wrench for 17;
  • A regular Phillips screwdriver.

I wondered why my gears are shifting so badly and decided to change the oil in the box first. The result is obvious, the gears became softer, but all the same, something bit and did not start up when switching. I read a lot in the thread about the short-stroke stage, but I still did not understand how to regulate the switch, therefore, armed with a forum and a downloaded book, I decided to figure it out myself. And I figured it out.

Tool:
1. Key for 12 (open-end, cap or ratchet head is not important).
2. A nail with a thickness of 5 mm (weaving is suitable)
3. Desirable partner
4.15-25 minutes.

so adjustment.
I read the following on the internet:

So I decided to read a book. There I found the following:

Having already learned from my own experience, I knew that this was a photo from under a car. (by the way, the curved black "rocker" with two bolts on it is the very fastening of the box behind which the control bolt is located and because of which it is not possible to see it without a mirror)

Therefore, summarizing all the knowledge gained, I climbed under the hood. There I saw the following:

The red arrow points to the same clamp. Here's a closer look:

Using a 12 key (the nut was welded from below, I realized this after painful 10 attempts to rip it off), unscrew the bolt until it starts spinning by hand.
After that, we try to see if the clamp has released the traction by chatting heavily in the direction of the yellow arrow (photo above) and persuading a friend to hold the gearshift knob, and if it is not there, then with the other hand holding the clamp on our own. This is done in order to remove the possibly stuck connections for the implementation of the adjustment.
After that, it is necessary to drown the retainer. He can be seen in the photo given from the book and in the following photos:
Red

this gizmo is not difficult to find, it is located to the left of the engine above the gearbox under the fuse box and battery.

So, by moving the heavy weight in the direction indicated by the blue arrow, we sink the latch. It sinks to the end (in this case, the heavy must be pulled towards the left wheel, since it also sinks when the heavy is almost in a free position, but only half), therefore we pull the heavy confidently (for this, you can first chat in the direction of the yellow arrow and see it move). I will say one thing - nothing will break, pull it boldly.

After that, we move to the salon. There we remove the gearbox handle cover. Taking it with both hands, as shown in the figure, grope the plastic frame through the skin and pulling the plastic frame upward to the gearshift knob.

The latches with which it is held are shown below:

We bring the gearshift knob to the left and insert the stock into the holes shown in the photo below:

By the way, I set it up 2 times. After inserting a nail first and then asking a friend to simply press the handle to the left and align the two holes. The second time was better tuned.

After that, we tighten the clamp bolt. We take out the nail. sorry stock. And shaking the heavy weight under the hood in the direction indicated by the yellow arrow, snap off the latch. (It did not jump out of my own and I poked it with my finger).

This completes the adjustment, energize the motor and try.

The essence of this adjustment is as follows: In the gearbox, the gears are turned on only in the directions strictly designated for this. The gearshift knob also moves along the guides. If these two places do not match, the gears are not included clearly. Having disconnected the handle and the box (by releasing the clamp), moving the switch in the box to some special “control” position and fixing it there (by means of a latch-lock under the hood), moving the gearshift knob to some special “control” position and fixing it there (by means of a nail , stock or friend), we combine the handle and switch in the box in the ideal positions for them and tighten the clamp by fixing them in this position.

Result.
Together with the previously replaced oil in the gearbox, it became noticeably clearer and softer. but all the same there is something sometimes snacking and not letting in, however, this, apparently, is already a problem of the box itself and I don’t bother too much about it. Until the summer I satisfied the desire to dig in my car on my own, especially since this digging had a positive result.

It is worth noting that the problems with the short-stroke stage are in most cases solved by adjusting the stage itself, which does not require its complete replacement.

If, nevertheless, the cause of all troubles is established and it points to a rocker that cannot be adjusted, for replacement you need:

  • Fine-tipped pliers;
  • Wrench 12;
  • Open-end wrench for 17;
  • A regular Phillips screwdriver.

To replace the short-stroke stage of the Chevrolet Lacetti, we need:

- pliers with fine tips;

The arrow indicates a nut, under it there is a bolt that must be unscrewed. We take out the pulley. The red arrow shows the hinge, it needs to be opened. Next, remove the curtain axis.

Remove the retainers using pliers.

Unscrew the PTFE bushings with the “17” key.

The photo shows the old and new wings for comparison.

On the adjustable part of the stage we mark the distances we need.

Putting the disassembled parts in reverse order.

The new curtain is installed in the same place. Insert the curtain axis. Do not forget about snapping the latches. The bolt that we loosened at the very beginning of work does not need to be tightened yet. We adjust the gearbox. We need to find a position where the pin fits perfectly into the stem bore.

Getting started in the car. Carefully remove the gear lever cover, fix it along the adjusting holes.

To adjust, we need a screwdriver with a diameter of 4-5 mm. Now that the gear lever stem is securely in place, the bolt can be tightened. Next, we take out the screwdriver, we will no longer need it. Release the spring-loaded stem. We return the gearbox cover to its original place. That, in fact, is all.
