I don’t want to set clear deadlines, but I’ll have to break the work down into stages. So what's ahead of us?

Connect one of its contacts with a wiring to ground, the other - to the point of the circuit being checked.
If the light comes on, there is voltage. Do not forget that the electrical circuit after ignition is checked with the ignition on. Start on the battery and work your way down the low voltage circuit in sequence. If you find a point where there is no voltage, strip the ends of the wires and the connection surfaces. If this does not help, the point is in the wire or device installed in front of this point.
In the high voltage circuit, clean any dirt and wipe dry all wires. Make sure that their ends are in close contact with the sockets of the coil, distributor (for 402 engine) and spark plugs. If a breakdown to ground occurs somewhere, the ignition will not work normally. Sometimes such a malfunction is easier to identify in the dark (sparking is visible at the breakdown site). On the GAZ-3310 "Volga" with a 402 engine, additionally remove the central wire from the distributor cover and check it for a spark (similar to a spark plug).
There is no spark - the ignition coil is faulty, it cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced. If there is a spark after the coil, but there is no spark on the spark plugs, remove the distributor cover, clean it from dirt, check the condition of the central electrode ("coal"), runner and contacts.
Another characteristic malfunction is poor contact with the "ground" of the wire coming from the battery. Symptoms of this problem are dim headlights after stopping the engine and the inability to start it (you can hear the click of the starter, but the crankshaft does not rotate). Disconnect the wire from the ground and strip the contact surfaces.
If you suspect a malfunction due to lack or poor fuel supply, make sure that there is gas in the tank. Some drivers notice such an elementary thing only after long attempts to find a fault in other places.
Sometimes this is due to a failure or poor performance of the fuel level sensor. If there is enough gasoline, make sure that it is supplied to the carburetor (for 402) or to the injectors (for 406 engine). A vapor lock can form in the gas lines (in the hot season), blocking the access of fuel. If this happens, put a wet rag on the fuel line to cool down, or just wait, the engine will cool down and the plug will disappear. In cold weather, water trapped in the fuel can freeze, the ice plug also does not allow gasoline to pass through. Do not heat gas lines with open fire; use hot water.
On the 406 engine, check if you can hear the hum of the fuel pump when the ignition is turned on. If not, its fuse may have blown. Before replacing, try to find the cause, the location of the short circuit can be determined by the smoked wires.

When the starter is turned on, gasoline should be poured from the hose. If it doesn't, the diaphragm may be damaged or pump valves are stuck. Check for leaks of gasoline in the pipe connections. If air enters the system, the pump pumps it instead of fuel.
In the cooling system, overheating is the result of a malfunction. Main reasons:
Leaking or insufficient coolant level. Check for traces of leakage, especially on hose connections, top up fluid.
Insufficient tension on the fan and water pump drive belts. It is necessary to tighten.
Faulty thermostat. Replacement required.
Faulty water pump (pump). Replacement required.
Common lubrication system problems:
Oil leaks. They are determined by the traces of smudges, the seals in these places must be tightened or replaced;

With the help of a grinder, a rusty place in the body is cut out. If the body is so rotten that a hole has appeared, it should be cut off, adding 1-2 centimeters around the entire perimeter.
Attention. It is desirable to cut the hole evenly, for example, observing a rectangular or square shape. This is done so that the patch can be installed more conveniently, without problems.
Metallic surfaces around the edges of the hole are carefully cleaned. Also, deburring is cleaned from the inside of the hole, which is easy to do with a file;
Then you need to prepare a suitable patch from a piece of steel sheet having a thickness of at least 0.8 mm.
Note. When preparing the patch, do not forget to leave a decent margin of 1-1.5 cm.
The patch is welded to the body.
Advice. To make it easier to cook, it is recommended to weld some piece of metal, a tail, to the patch. This will allow you to conveniently hold the patch while welding.
At first, the patch is not welded in the corners with a continuous seam, but only slightly tacked for accuracy;
Then comes the full weld line, overlapping welding.
Attention. It is necessary to adhere to this order: the welding points on the line of the continuous seam should be at a distance of 10-20 mm from each other, no more. If you can make a continuous seam, keeping even smaller distances, so much the better. Much will depend on the skill of the welder.
Cleaning the seams is a mandatory welding procedure;
After that, a car putty is applied to the place of work;
Then the primer is applied, first the starting, and then the finishing;
The leveled surface is painted in the desired color.
Bodywork experts also recommend sealing the weld. Thanks to this, the delivered patch will last much longer on Gas 3110, 69, 24, 3102 and Gazelle. Sealing is an operation to eliminate possible moisture penetration into the weld seam through the putty.
In addition, it would be nice to carry out anticorrosive treatment of all seams and the patch itself. This is done before priming, applying the filler.
In general, in the process of active operation of Gaz 3110, Gazelle and Gaz 69 vehicles, various damages may occur. As a rule, we are talking about dents, cracks, chips of a metal surface, etc. If body parts are welded in places of damage, it is recommended to weld a local reinforcement on the back side.
In this regard, I would like to give two good advice:
The amplifier should be cut from sheet steel, the thickness of which should be equal to the thickness of the metal of the part being repaired;
The parts should be welded so that the seams are in the direction perpendicular to the crack.
If the paintwork is damaged, then it is better to thoroughly clean this area of the body from dirt with sandpaper, then degrease it with some good means and tint with nitro enamel.
Note. It will be useful for a body specialist to know that nitro enamel is dried in air for at least two hours. But, for example, synthetic enamel, which can also be used, is dried with a reflector.
Before painting with enamel, if areas of the body are significantly damaged, that is, before the metal, primer should be applied. After that, wait for drying for one hour, and only then proceed to the main work.
As for the elimination of the dust obtained by painting the damaged body part, this is done more efficiently by hand. Polishing has proven to be the best way to remove dust.
If work is being carried out to eliminate floor defects, then it is imperative to use BPM-1 mastic or some other.
