Maintaining the CANON PIXMA MG3540 printer
The procedure for diagnostics and repair of the CANON PIXMA MG3540 printer
Canon printer service includes replacement of only quality parts from the manufacturer.

Today's tale will be devoted to the printer (MFP) Canon PIXMA MG3540 and the elimination of error 5B00. As I have already written many times that error 5B00 is an overflow error in the absorber (working, diaper) counter of the printer, you can read more about this in this post.

To understand that your printer has this particular error, and not any other, which is most likely eliminated in a completely different way, you should pay attention to the messages that the printer shows on the display of your computer or laptop, as well as to the printer indication.

Signs that the Canon PIXMA MG3540 printer is full of absorber:

1) When sending a print job, the printer flashes lightning 7 or 8 times before being interrupted. If 8 blinks, you can press the color or black and white copy button and the printer will print the sent document.

2) The status monitor of the printer shows on the computer screen a message like “Support code 5B00. Contact the service center. "

Resetting the diaper (error 5B00) for the Canon PIXMA MG3540 printer (a simple method that does not require additional equipment):

In order to reset the absorber overflow error for Canon PIXMA MG3540, you need to find out one nuance. As it turned out, this printer has two or more types of main boards. Those. one and the same printer can work with two structurally different main boards (this is the board where the USB connector of the printer is located). The method for clearing error 5B00 will depend on which board is installed in the printer.

In order to find out which main board is installed in the printer, you can remove the side cover of the printer from the side of the USB port, or simply by typing, try to reset the error using a simple software method. Let's try.

1) Turn on the printer in service mode, for this:

  • with the printer turned off, press and hold the Stop button Reset
  • press the printer power button and hold it, it should light up
  • release the StopReset button and press it 5 more times, each press will light up and go out the "lightning" indicator
  • a sign of a successful entry into the service mode will be a permanently lit power-on indicator and on the computer the printer will be defined as CanonDevice

2) The printer is already connected to a Windows computer using a USB cable

3) Download the Service tool 3400 program and extract it from the archive

4) Run the program by double clicking

5) In the item Clear Ink Counter -> Absorber, select All and press Set

If everything was done correctly earlier, then a window will appear. A function was finished, click OK

The printer will print a report indicating that the counters have been reset.

Turn off and turn on the printer. An error with 7 or 8 flashes of "lightning" should no longer alarm the next 5-6 thousand prints.

Resetting error 5B00, 5B02 (diaper, absorber) for Canon PIXMA MG3540, MG3240, MG4240, MX494 printers.

So the situation will be ideal if you come across, so to speak, the first, simple version of the board. By the way, the board with which Canon PIXMA MG3540 can be reset by software, without the intervention of a soldering iron, looks like this:

A special feature of this board is the presence of an EEPROM chip in the front part. Those. if you removed the side cover of the printer and saw on the main board the EEPROM marked above (Rice. 7), most likely to reset the diaper on this MG3540, it will turn out programmatically.

Because it has already happened recently that the Canon printer does not always work to start in the service mode, to reset the error 5B00, in which case it was necessary to flash the same EEPROM with the programmer. This was previously described in the entry about Canon MP280 and IP2700.

Resetting the diaper (error 5B00) for the Canon PIXMA MG3540 printer (a complex method that requires a programmer and a soldering iron):

I have already said above that Canon Pixma MG3540 can work on two constructively different main boards. I described the method of resetting the diaper in the case of one version of the board above, now we will discuss the second version of the main board.

To understand what we are talking about, here is the second type of well-known boards for the Canon Pixma MG3540 printer:

A feature of this board is the lack of EEPROM, on board we only have a flash 25Q064 (Rice. 10).

In the case of this board, the absorber overflow error could be cleared only with the help of the flash 25Q064 programmer.

Recently I installed CISS on my mom's Canon PIXMA MG3540 printer. During the installation I decided that my experience can help someone.
The printer works fine, but I installed the CISS for the second time in my life, so I do not pretend to be a guru.

In the photo Canon PIXMA MG3540, ink and everything that was in the set with CISS.
CISS cost me 1000 rubles. (250 rubles - delivery, 750 rubles - CISS). InTek C5041 (color) and C5040 (black) ink, 4 pieces - 445 rubles.

Total together with MFP - 3800 rubles. (before the collapse of the ruble)

I must say right away that the operation to install the CISS is not easy and in our city in specialized offices it costs 800 rubles. If you are not sure, then it is better to give 800 rubles. I was just curious, so I took up the installation myself.

I do not bear responsibility in the event of damage to the equipment, I just share my experience.

1) Turn on the MFP, open the covers, take out the cartridges, turn off the MFP.

2) Peel off the labels from the cartridges.

3) Technological holes in the cartridge, they must be drilled out.

4) Drill 3.5 mm for metal. We drill carefully, it is impossible to damage the insides of the cartridge.

5) Fill the syringe with ink. The printer is new, so it was filled to a minimum: black - 5 ml, color - 2 ml each.

Next, fill in slowly at an angle, like in the photo, ink into the cartridge. Do not mix up the colors in the color cartridge: magenta on top, yellow on the right, blue on the left.

6) On a soft cloth, you can determine how smoothly the ink comes out, and whether we have refilled the cartridges.

7) We glue the holes and insert the silicone seals.

8) First, look at point 11 of this instruction, and then cut the tubes and insert them into the ink containers. You need to cut it so that there are no unnecessary kinks in the cable.

9) We clamp the tubes with a clothespin, plug the air holes with plugs and pour ink through the funnels.

10) We take out the funnels, poke the plugs and insert the air filters.

11) It is necessary to cut the tubes so that they twist to a minimum. Here it is better not to rush and do better than I did. Ideally, the black tube should be replaced with a raspberry one, but this should have been done at point 8 of this instruction.

12) We put corners on the ends of the tubes, remove the clothespin, adjust the ink to the end of the tubes: the less air, the better. Don't mix up the colors.

13) Remove the cover with a spring, we no longer need it. It is necessary to snap off the cover from the left ear.

14) Insert the cartridge and thread the tube. The color cartridge does not need to be inserted as usual. It is necessary to pry it, as it were, at the moment when you click the gray lever. The fact is that when you click it, the clamp is triggered, but we have tubes connected to the cartridge and the raspberry tube prevents us from pressing the cartridge as it should. To do this, we tilt the color cartridge forward downward and at the moment the gray lever clicks into place, we align and simultaneously push it forward. Needless to say, we don't make any special efforts, otherwise something else will fall off.

15) The tubes fit well into the horizontal slit on the left. I recommend making a couple of turns with electrical tape, as in the photo, for greater strength.

16) I used my own design to fix the tubes. For fastening, I had to take large paper clips. How they are attached - you can see in the picture. You can use regular paper clips, they work too. Attached at a distance of 10 cm from the left edge. The tubes fit into the frame in size between the mounting of the rollers and the corner of the metal plate. Be sure to check if the printhead is clinging to your mount type.

17) We fixed the tubes so that they do not interfere with the movement of the cartridges. We carefully put the tubes into the slot of the cover. It is not necessary to drill the housing to exit the tubing.

18) After the first start, we clean the cartridges and check the print quality of the nozzles.

After self-refilling the black cartridge on the Canon Pixma MG-3540 MFP (3500 series), the printer printed 102 sheets and was locked.

A warning message appeared on the monitor screen that the cartridge is used up and needs to be replaced immediately. An error light blinked on the printer control panel. And no matter what buttons I pressed, the villainous device categorically refused to print.

The request “Unlocking the cartridge of the Canon MG-3540 printer” sent to the bowels of Google returned with nothing. I also dialed "resetting the canon MG3540 mfp absorber", and "zeroing the canon MG3540 mfp absorber", and even "resetting the canon MG3540 mfp diaper". Everything is empty!

Most likely, this 3500-series MFP has recently been on the market, and domestic service centers and users have not yet managed to develop an antidote for it against unfair competition from the manufacturer.

I had to use the poke method. As a result, I found a way to cheat the Canon MG 3540 printer.

The unlocking algorithm is as follows:

  1. Turn on the MFP using the "Power" button.
The Empty Cartridge light and the Error light will blink.
  2. Press and hold the "Reset" button until the "Error" indicator goes out.

Now the same thing: slower and in pictures.

In the last article I wrote about why the printer does not pick up paper. The fault is usually the paper pick roller. In this article I want to tell and show you step by step how to get to it in the Canon MG 4240 inkjet printer. the printer will have to be disassembled almost completely. But I did it, which means you will succeed. Go…

1. Remove the cartridges. Be sure to wrap them in some kind of bag or special packaging so as not to flood everything with paint.

2. Remove the screws on the back of the printer.

3. Unfasten the upper parts of the button bar.

4. Remove the screws under the panel. There are 4 of them, the second from the top is short

5. Remove the left cover. Here are all your favorite latches. Pry from the bottom, front, back, press into the hole from the top

6. Remove the panel with buttons by sliding it to the left. Caution, plumes!

7. Remove the corner with the shutdown button

8. Untie the blue wire from the case. You can first untie, then remove the corner.

Pay attention to the train - it is glued to the bar, we remove it with it

10. Remove the right cover. The latch at the bottom will make you suffer

11. It is the turn of the scanner. We remove it in several stages:

We unscrew the screws: one on the right, 3 on the left and a cable.

Detach WiFi adapter loop

Then we remove the entire scanner

12. Disconnect all loops and wires from the board

13. Remove the front door. Not necessary, but so as not to interfere with it

14. Unhook the spring tensioning the band. Take out the tape itself very carefully, do not bend it or get it dirty - the carriage is oriented along it when moving.

15. Remove the cartridge cover. 3 screws, yellow wire

18. Remove the plastic strip

19. We proceed to the removal of the leading bar. 2 screws on the left, one in the upper right corner

21. Remove the white round thing

22. Unscrew the rail screws. 7 pieces

23. Remove the guide rail. Up

24. Remove the metal plate. 1 screw

25. Find the gear on the right and turn it so that the slot inside turns vertically

26. Remove the screws of the white plastic panel

28. Remove the spring from the shaft

29. Unfasten the shaft on both sides and remove. White sleeves should be unfastened - the tongue is slightly bent and the entire sleeve turns to the desired position

30. Let's start removing the "dirty" plank

Fold back the white latch on the left

31. Remove the white piece on the left side

32. We take out the panel with foam rubber

Unscrew the screws on the left and right.

So we got to the desired detail. Difficult, but possible. Perhaps, in order to get to the video, some elements did not need to be removed, but I changed more than one part, so I took everything apart.

By the way, there was one more detail that periodically jammed and slowed down the paper grab: a kind of "pedal" with a spring. It is located right there: under the roller

Well, since we got to the base, it would be nice to wash or replace the diapers. On this, perhaps, I will finish. I will not describe the assembly of the printer, since the same article will turn out, but in the reverse order.

I almost forgot, here the guy posted his video on disassembling the same printer. True, there he does everything in silence and his actions are not always clear, but it is possible that this will be useful to you:
