In detail: do-it-yourself brushcutter repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Modern technologies and equipment make it possible to produce the best and optimal technical solutions that become effective assistants in the arrangement of a summer cottage or a personal plot. The green lawn and other plantings can grow rapidly, a petrol cutter is used to tidy up the local area and mow the lawns, which is also called a brushcutter or trimmer, a petrol mower.
Traditional braids are inconvenient and unsafe to use, require a significant investment of time and effort, which will help save gas mowers, combining functionality and practicality in their design. In the photo of the petrol brush, you can see various high-tech devices, which are inherent in a set of operational characteristics, including such parameters as increased productivity and a long service life.
A convenient and reliable trimmer is a technical device consisting of individual mechanisms, parts and elements that can wear out, become unusable and damaged during intensive use.
Even with regular technical inspection, maintenance procedures and careful storage, such devices and their individual parts require repair and even replacement, all repair procedures can be performed independently.
Brief content of the article:
The easiest way is to give the petrol cutter for repairs, having allocated a certain amount of funds from the family budget, prompt and high-quality repair with your own hands is no less simple and convenient if you want to understand the design of the petrol cutter and fix all the problems.

The mass and piece production of trimmers is based on the use of generally accepted technology, a typical design scheme consists of certain elements and parts, it is important to know them when carrying out independent repair work:
top part. The basis of the entire structure, where all important elements are collected, such as a starter, a carburetor and a petrol cutter engine;
middle part. A hollow rod, inside it is a cable that connects the motor and the gearbox, which drives the cutting line. In this part there are fasteners for distributing the weight of the entire structure and a belt for fixing the trimmer on the belt of a person using the trimmer for its intended purpose;
Bottom part. It houses the gearbox and cutting elements, which are hidden under a practical cover to protect the user. The casing provides an increased level of safety, preventing large fractions of debris, stones and glass from entering a person while working with a petrol cutter.
Knowing exactly the internal structure and the principle of operation of the trimmer, you can independently carry out repair measures for the structure or replace individual components that have become unusable, using the repair instructions.
The most common and common failures of the unit that need to be corrected on their own include the following problems:
engine malfunction, due to which the brushcutter does not start and does not work;
increased vibration of the brushcutter bar, which complicates its intended use;
increased overheating of the gearbox, its accelerated heating during operation;
slow and weak functioning of the cutting line at insufficient speed;
clogging of the starter grille, causing overheating of the engine and its refusal to work;
fast and frequent clogging of the carburetor due to the use of low-quality fuel;
clogging of the air filter due to non-observance of the measures for the care of the device.
All these problems can lead to the fact that the device will lose its working capacity. Before ordering the necessary spare parts for the mowing, a visual inspection and diagnostics of the device should be carried out.
Particular attention should be paid to individual spare parts and units of the device, to check them you do not have to contact a professional master, a set of diagnostic measures will help you to identify the consequence of a loss of performance with your own hands.
If the trimmer motor does not start or stalls immediately after starting, when the gearbox overheats or during the operation of the device, extraneous noises are heard and vibration is clearly felt, it is important to visually inspect and identify a non-working unit.
To optimize the preparatory measures before repairs, you should carry out a simple diagnosis and check step by step:
the presence of fuel in the tank and lubrication in the main units;
serviceability of the spark plug and its performance;
the cleanliness of the fuel and air filter of the brushcutter;
clogging of the outlet channel and breather of the device;
the quality of the fuels and lubricants used.
To determine the functional efficiency of the petrol-cutter's ignition, it is necessary to determine whether the spark plug is working by testing the appearance of a spark when it comes into contact with the body of the functional device.
The spark plug itself can be replaced with a new one, having previously dried the candle channel, if necessary, the old element is also dried, cleaned with special devices and returned to its place.
In the process of inspecting the carburetor, it is worth paying attention to the possible leakage of the fuel used; to identify problems with the carburetor, the following measures must be taken:
purging the fuel hose to eliminate possible blockage of the element;
checking and replacing the gasket between the engine and the carburetor;
determination of tightness and maintenance of constant pressure in the unit.
If necessary, you can personally disassemble and thoroughly clean the unit using gasoline, the jet and channels are cleaned using compressed air.
The gearbox transmits torque from the motor shaft to the cutting tool, its gears during operation must be absolutely clean and always lubricated with special grease.
Carrying out a technical inspection on your own once a season will allow you to get rid of the need to repair the gearbox or replace it, with the purchase of an expensive new unit.
The starter is necessary to bring the trimmer into working condition, its diagnostics consists in checking the tension of the starter cord connected to the teeth of the starter coil, which are often destroyed during an abrupt start.
An inoperative starter in a petrol cutter cannot be repaired; it must be replaced with a working unit as part of a mandatory technical inspection or a set of repair measures.
Cutting elements require special attention and care, which must always be cleaned of dirt and cut grass after use. Regular inspection and thorough preparation of the device for operation will help to avoid costly and time-consuming repairs, and always be confident in the performance of the petrol brush.
Very often, complaints from owners of gasoline trimmers are associated with various kinds of carburetor malfunctions. Of course, in this case, it is best to seek help from specialists in this field, for whom the repair of carburetors of gasoline trimmers is an integral part of the profession. However, if you are still familiar with the basic principles of the trimmer carburetor, you can try to figure out the problem yourself, so as not to overpay money in the service, since sometimes the breakdown can be really frivolous.
This article is just intended to help you deal with the problem.
Next, we will analyze the most common breakdowns and the reasons for their occurrence.
The first step is to generally inspect the carburetor and find out if there is any fuel leakage.
If it turns out that there are no problems with fuel, it is necessary to remove the carburetor from the engine and check the condition of the gasket located next to the carburetor.
If no malfunctions are observed here, you can try to check the carburetor for tightness.
To do this, you can purchase a special device, which is part of the tool kits for repairing the carburetor repair of mowers and representing a special pressure gauge that, in fact, checks the tightness.
If you don't want to spend money on its purchase, you can use a conventional medical tonometer, on which you just need to change the pressure gauge.
When using this device, pay attention to the indication.
If the pressure does not drop and remains the same for a long time, you can rest assured, as this indicates the tightness of the carburetor.
If the pressure begins to decrease after a certain time, then there are still problems.
They can be associated with damage to any parts of the carburetor.
Before running to the nearest repair shop or specialty store selling trimers and spare parts, try to figure out the problem yourself. Sorry for the banality, but the brushcutter carburetor is not a spaceship of an extraterrestrial civilization, and it is quite possible to repair it with your own hands. To be confident in your actions, read the step-by-step instructions provided in this article.
A visual inspection of the carburetor will help detect fuel leakage and air leakage, but the main reasons for the failure of the device lie inside. Therefore, in order to determine and most importantly fix the breakdown, the carburetor must be disassembled.
It does not take much effort to disassemble the carburetor of the brushcutter.
It is enough to unscrew four screws on one side
and two on the other. This can be done using a regular Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screws carefully and fold them to the side. They may be needed during assembly. It is advisable to cover the table with a white cloth before disassembling so that you can see everything, even the smallest details that may fall out during disassembly.
We start disassembling from the side of the fuel supply system.
We remove the primer - a pumping bubble, which is remarkable, it is simply impossible to install the carburetor parts incorrectly during assembly. Products have characteristic ebb and flow.
Now we remove the membrane. It is she who performs the function of pumping fuel into the carburetor.
When the membrane vibrates, the other side exerts pressure on the rocker of the mechanism and the needle rises, which, in turn, opens the hole and fuel is supplied.
Remove the carburetor cover with the injection mechanism.
Further, another membrane is installed. We carefully remove it.
There is another gasket under the membrane. We also carefully remove it, without damaging it in any way.
Next, we move on to dismantling the parts from the back of the carburetor. As mentioned earlier, we unscrew the two bolts. This is already an air supply system.
A valve is located here, which, when gas is added, opens and increases the flow of air into the engine.
After removing it, a bare body remains in the hands. The carburetor is disassembled.
Identification of faults and their elimination
Now it is worth paying attention to the problems that occur during the operation of the carburetor and how to fix them.
The first thing that happens is that the holes and jets in the fuel supply system are clogged with dirt. Filters installed in the tank and directly in the carburetor do not help. They still allow small particles to pass through, which cause brushcutter failure.
Now we need to get the needle.
To do this, unscrew the bolt on the mechanism, holding it with your finger.The fact is, there is a spring there and a careless action will lead to the fact that it is lost.
We take out the needle, see photo and spring.
How to purge. The most effective way is to use an ultrasonic bath.
It is filled with either a special liquid or gasoline, a carburetor is placed there and under the action of ultrasound, the so-called cavitation effect, the channels are cleaned of contamination.
The second option for cleaning is compressed air.
You can use the compressor available on the farm and clean the carburetor channels. However, this method is effective if the contamination is not very large.
If there is neither an ultrasonic bath nor a compressor at hand, then cleaning can be done in the third way using a special cylinder for cleaning the carburetor. They are sold in almost all car dealerships and supermarkets. The price is not high and is about $ 2-3. Enough of such a cylinder for 4 or 5 purges.
Now we need to blow through the channels in the body and carburetor cover. See photo.
Another particle of dirt can get stuck under the needle. See photo. This will also lead to brushcutter failure.
Important! When cleaning the carburetor, never use needles, pins or wires. Even the slightest scratch will damage the carburetor. It will have to be changed entirely.
It is located on the carburetor cover and is a fine metal mesh. Its pollution occurs very often. This is due to the deposition of oil, additives, dirt on it.
Sometimes, when disassembling on the nets, a certain film is found. Therefore, the carburetor does not have enough fuel and the brushcutter either does not start or works intermittently. The cleaning methods are identical to the first reason: an ultrasonic bath, a compressor or a spray bottle with a special solution. In addition, if the mesh is clogged thoroughly, you need to take a soft brush for watercolors, soak it in gasoline and rinse it gently without damaging it.
They have the ability to wear out during operation. From prolonged use, they deform, stretch, lose elasticity, low-quality fuel corrodes them, and can no longer perform their functions well. This also applies to the needle itself. The fact is that it is covered with a thin layer of rubber, which wears out during operation and can no longer fit tightly into the hole. The brushcutter starts to work intermittently. To eliminate such a breakdown, it is necessary to replace all worn out parts. Where can I get them?
In specialized gardening equipment stores, a carburetor kit for a brush cutter of a certain model is sold. The cost of such a repair kit ranges from 40 to 60 hryvnia.
It includes two diaphragms, a gasket, a needle valve and a spring.
All wear parts of the carburetor can be replaced. Therefore, you should not rush and buy a new one, and you do not need to run to the workshop either, repairs are within the power of any brushcutter user. Professionals claim that the quality of the components in the repair kit even exceeds the characteristics of the native carburetor parts. Therefore, a well-repaired unit will perform better than a new one.
In addition, the bubble button for manual fuel pumping may fail. The impact of gasoline on it leads to the fact that during prolonged operation, the rubber corrodes and it begins to stick together or, under the influence of low temperatures, for example, during storage, it bursts. The button should also be replaced if necessary. In addition, its cost is small and will not affect the size of the repair budget in any way.
Based on the foregoing, it can be concluded that there are only three main carburetor malfunctions: clogging of channels, contamination of the fine filter and failure of components. In the first two cases, cleaning is enough, and in the third, a repair kit will help.
Assembling a brushcutter carburetor is a snap. All actions must be performed in reverse order:
Install a spring and a needle valve in the carburetor cover. Hold the spring with your finger and tighten the mounting bolt.
Screw the shutter of the air supply system to the product body with two screws.
Turn the carburetor over and go to the fuel system assembly. First you need to put the gasket.
Install the carburetor cover.
Install the main diaphragm.
Install the plate with the manual fuel pumping button and tighten the four screws.
The carburetor is assembled and ready for further use.
For the first time, repairing a brushcutter carburetor may seem like a complicated process, but if you have to disassemble it a second time, then this procedure will not cause much difficulty.
If you did not find any of the listed problems in your carburetor, it is recommended to contact a specialized service for help.
At first glance, a simple device for mowing grass with a two-stroke engine is fine-tuned. Repair of petrol cutters must be entrusted to a specialist or to study the technique yourself, using the operating instructions. The streamer maintenance is essential. Gearbox lubrication, line replacement, and teeth sharpening can be done on our own.
Any type of petrol cutter has a hollow rod, in which a connecting cable is placed between the engine shaft and the lower gearbox, which transfers rotation to the working body with the cutting tool. In the upper part there is a carburetor and a motor, at the bottom - a gearbox and a working tool, covered with a casing. In the middle part there is a transverse handle in which the control buttons are located. To unload the arms, there is an unloading belt that holds the bar with the operator's torso.
When choosing a petrol cutter, a two-stroke engine is preferable to a four-stroke one. The two-stroke engine is more maneuverable and easier to repair. With a four-stroke unit, the vibration level is lower.
They follow this, repairing petrol cutters is to troubleshoot;
the engine does not start;
the cutting mechanism is not picking up speed;
the engine stalls;
the reducer is heated;
an extraneous knock is heard, strong vibration of the bar.
Before eliminating the malfunction, you need to diagnose, determine the non-working unit.
It is important to know the lubrication points of the tool. Constant care and cleaning of the device after work will extend its service life. Before work, it is necessary to tighten the fastening bolts, prepare fuel and fill the tank.
If the mechanism does not start, it stalls immediately, check sequentially:
is there fuel in the tank;
serviceability of the spark plug;
cleanliness of the air and fuel filter;
the cleanliness of the breather and exhaust port.
It is necessary to fill it with a freshly prepared mixture based on AI-92, the oil is injected for accurate dosage with a medical syringe. This will help avoid expensive chainsaw repairs.
It is necessary to make sure that the candle is working, it gives a spark when it comes into contact with the body. In this case, it is necessary to dry the candle channel, clean and dry the part itself. You can change the candle, but the canal still needs to be dried for 40 minutes. Check the serviceability of the high-voltage wire, there may not always be a contact. A malfunction in the ignition unit when repairing a petrol cutter cannot be eliminated with your own hands.
If, when the air filter is removed, the engine does not stall, the reason is in it - replacement or cleaning is required. Replacing the fuel filter is done with great care. Then check the cleanliness of the breather, remove the muffler mesh and clean the exhaust channel.
The next step will be to repair the carburetor, where you have to find the malfunction and fix it, taking into account the tiny size of the parts. If the simplest operations have not yielded results, in order not to disrupt the fine tuning of the system, it is better to entrust the repair to a specialist. Where to start diagnostics and how to properly repair petrol cutters with your own hands, check out the video:
The role of the reducer is to transfer torque from the motor shaft to the cutting tool through 2 gears with different numbers of teeth. The torque is transmitted at an angle of 30. The number of revolutions of the lower cutting disc is 1.4 times less than that of the engine. Gears must be clean and lubricated. To supply oil to the teeth, there is a hole under the screw on top.
Lubrication of the petrol cutter gearbox is carried out at least once a season. If the work is intensive or there is abnormal noise in the lower unit, it is necessary to lubricate more often.
First, the place where the plug closes the hole should be cleared of soil and grass. Unscrew the plug with a suitable tool, it is included with the saw. We use a grease tube. Either a native lubricant from the manufacturer is selected, or well-known high-quality compounds, such as Oleo-Mas, Litol-24, Azmol 158. We open the protective layer of the tube and lay the instrument on its side. Slowly rotating the knife, squeeze the grease into the gear housing. The gears, turning, carry the composition with their teeth over the entire surface. You can also pour grease with a special syringe.
Insufficient or too much lubrication can lead to overheating of the gear unit. An audible knock and backlash indicates a bearing failure or dirt ingress due to a damaged boot. Bearings must be replaced with a puller, without using the heating method.
If the gearbox staggers and runs on the rod, it is necessary to replace the housing, or temporarily tighten the knot with a clamp to secure it to the pipe. If the knife stops rotating, it means that the gears do not engage - the teeth are worn out or crumbled. A pair will need to be replaced with a complete disassembly of the assembly.
Disassembly of the gearbox with disassembly of the shaft and bearing assemblies must not be carried out by heating. When heated, the metal loses its strength properties and in the future the knot becomes unreliable. A puller is used to remove the bearings.
When replacing the gearbox, it is necessary to select a new unit, guided by:
pipe diameter;
the diameter of the drive shaft;
section of the drive shaft;
method of fastening protection
The saw headset dulls or wears out over time. Working with the tool becomes strenuous, the load increases, and the swath quality deteriorates. Metal saw blades are sharpened, plastic ones are changed.
If a line is used as a cutting tool, it gradually wears out, and new material is installed in the spool. The principle of operation of the cutter with a line is to gradually unwind the coil under the influence of centrifugal force. On contact with the grass, the fishing line is abraded; it is fed from the reel gradually. A special winding is needed so that the two cutting elements come out at the same time and do not get confused with each other.
The figure shows how to properly wind the line on the reel of the petrol cutter. Before winding a new line, you must:
unscrewing the nozzle, carefully remove the cover, holding the spring with your hand;
remove scraps of old fishing line from the reel;
measure 5 meters of a new string and fold it in half;
guides in the reel for 2 ends, hook the middle part into the recess and wind in the direction of the arrows for each half of the string;
lead the remaining 20 cm through the special notches at the opposite ends of the coil;
install the spring and washers, bring the ends of the line out, close the drum with a lid.
In order to better understand how to change the line on a petrol cutter, watch the video.
An indispensable tool for a modern summer resident or owner of a private house is a petrol cutter, which allows you to effectively and efficiently put the adjacent territory in order. The period of active use of brushcutters is in late spring until October. Modern units are equipped with powerful and durable internal combustion engines, reinforced transmission and main components. Despite this, physical wear, manufacturing defects or improper operation lead to failure of the trimmer.In order to repair the trimmer with your own hands, you must have at least basic knowledge in the field of technology and little experience in repairing it.
The main unit of any gasoline tool is the internal combustion engine (ICE), which, through various methods, transmits torque to the actuator. In a modern petrol cutter, a duralumin rod (pipe) is used as a transmission element between the engine and the trimmer head, inside which the drive shaft is located.
Thanks to the high-revving engine, the line speed can reach 13 thousand revolutions per minute, depending on the manufacturer of the scythe. In order to exclude mechanical and thermal damage to the gearbox, a special hole is provided in its housing for the introduction of grease in the form of ointments. To make the headset easier for the owner during long-term work, all brushcutter models are equipped with a durable shoulder strap.
Regardless of the manufacturer, almost every model comes with a line and steel knives.
The cross-section of PVC trimmer line can vary from 1.5mm to 3.0mm.
Made of durable polymer, it is subject to intense wear and tear during mowing. Therefore, from time to time it is necessary to check the presence of a fishing line in the head and, if necessary, replace it. It is recommended that you purchase an extra bobbin to quickly replace it with a spool with no line.
ICE trimmers on the market today are equipped with a D-shaped, U-shaped or T-shaped handle, where the main controls of the unit are located. For example, in a braid with a U-grip, the throttle key and stop / start toggle switch are located on the right grip. In the D-shaped version of the handle, the throttle control button is located directly on the rod.
Due to the presence of many components and parts, repairing a trimmer with your own hands means eliminating breakdowns that prevent its normal operation. It should be noted the most basic malfunctions of gasoline streamers:
The trimmer motor is not picking up speed;
Breakdown of the cylinder-piston group (CPG);
Ignition malfunctions;
There is no connection between the internal combustion engine and the trimmer head;
Mechanical knocking during unit operation.
Repair of the central piston group petrol cutters
The main unit of any internal combustion engine is a cylinder-piston group (CPG), which can fail due to wear of parts of parts or poor quality of the fuel mixture.
Lubrication of rubbing units in a petrol cutter is carried out by adding a certain proportion of oil to gasoline. This process can be disrupted due to old oil precipitating out. In this situation, when the trimmer is started, the motor overheats and in a matter of minutes the most expensive breakdown occurs. To eliminate the malfunction that has arisen, a complete replacement of the CPG will be required, namely: the piston, oil seals, cylinder and piston rings. If you are not an ICE repair technician and do not have experience working with technicians, then you will hardly be able to fix the engine without the help of a specialist. Details on the stages of piston trimmer repair can be found here.
If the ignition of the petrol mowers fails, the spark on the candle disappears and, as a result, the fuel mixture does not ignite.
Spit spark plug design
In this situation, it is quite important not to rush to replace the coil, since the cause of the breakdown may lie in the lack of contact in the switch on the control handle.
An important point when troubleshooting the trimmer ignition will be the diagnostics of the section, where the distance between the side and center electrodes should be 0.5-0.7 mm. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the steel O-ring on the spark plug, the loss of integrity or deformation of which can lead to etching of air from the combustion chamber and, as a result, reduce the power of the streamer.
Ignition flywheel with coil
If the replacement of the check of the electrical circuit, the spark plug and its contacts did not give positive results, then you should pay attention to the trimmer ignition module, namely the clearance with the flywheel. Regardless of the design features and the manufacturer of the brushcutter, the distance between the ignition coil and the flywheel should be no more and no less than 0.2 mm. To restore the optimal value of the gap, you will need to loosen the coil mounting bolts and set the trimmer ignition with a special measuring probe.
A clear sign of a malfunction of the engine power system is the absence of traces of the fuel mixture on the spark plug electrodes, which may be associated with the following defects:
Trimmer Fuel System Components
due to a clogged hole in the gas tank, a vacuum is created, which prevents the normal flow of gasoline into the carburetor;
due to the poor quality of the fuel and the ingress of foreign particles, the fuel filter installed in the tank is clogged;
non-flow of the mixture into the combustion chamber as a result of a clogged carburetor.
You can quickly determine the cause of the malfunction by dismantling the fuel hose leading to the carburetor. If the fuel mixture flows out in a thin stream, then you should pay attention to the carburetor. If there is no jet, it is necessary to clean the breather with a thin needle (a small hole in the gas tank cap) or replace the fuel filter.
If fuel enters the carburetor, it must be cleaned or adjusted. Adjusting the carburetor trimmer means restoring optimal fuel mix.
Trimmer carburetor with adjustment screws
To do this, pay attention to three adjusting screws: maximum speed (H), minimum (L) and idle speed (LA). To start the adjustment, you need to fully tighten the screws H and L and loosen one turn each. Then we start the braid and let it warm up for 10 minutes to adjust the power system in operating mode. After warming up the internal combustion engine, press the gas supply button until it stops (12,000 rpm). We restore the idling mode by unscrewing the screw LA. As soon as the trimmer head starts rotating, tighten the screw until it stops.
One of the frequent faults of the petrol mowers is the incorrect operation of the internal combustion engine, namely the drop in power when the speed increases (the scythe stalls).
The reason for this is that the exhaust system is clogged with burnt oil particles. Often manufacturers make mufflers prefabricated and cleaning is quite simple. If the design of the spark arrester is non-separable, then it must be placed in water with detergents, and then dried with an ordinary or industrial hair dryer. Frequent clogging of the exhaust system indicates non-observance of the proportions of oil and gasoline.
A petrol cutter (trimmer, brushcutter or petrol mower) is an extremely important tool in the summer, both for owners of private residential buildings and for those who like to grow their own vegetables, berries and fruits in the country. Killing weeds or trimming your lawn can all be done with ease with the trimmer. And much faster than if you use other methods.
Unfortunately, like any other technical device, the brushcutter sometimes breaks down. For example, the engine is not running or there are problems with the carburetor or starter, even if you periodically carry out maintenance of the unit: change the cutting line or teeth, fill it only with high-quality fuel and oil, and also constantly lubricate the gas trimmer gearbox. In order not to pay for repairs, which can cost you a pretty penny, you can study the brushcutter device and carry out the repair yourself.
Typical circuit, according to which manufacturers make their brushcutters:
The upper part is considered the main one - the main elements of the brushcutter are concentrated here: the starter, the carburetor and the engine;
The middle part is a rod, which is hollow inside and along which a cable is laid, connected at one end to the engine, and at the other end to a gearbox that drives the cutting line. Buttons are also located here, with the help of which the operator can control the petrol cutter. A belt is attached here to relieve the weight of the trimmer, which the operator puts on the body to make it easier for him to do his job;
The lower part consists of a gearbox and a cutting tool, covered with a special casing. This is done specifically so that the operator is not injured by debris, glass and other dangerous objects that may be in the grass that have flown into him.
The most frequent breakdowns that occur during the operation of the unit are:
the engine does not work, the trimmer will not start;
the engine manages to start, after which it does not hold speed and stalls abruptly and for no reason;
the brushcutter bar vibrates strongly;
the gearbox is overheating;
low speed at the cutting line.
Before proceeding with the repair, study the instructions, which must be included in the kit so that correctly diagnose.
If the engine of the device does not start, you need to check for the presence of gasoline in the tank of the petrol cutter. Keep in mind that when you refuel your device with a specially prepared mixture of oil and gasoline, the fuel must be at least AI-92. A certain amount of oil is added to the pre-calculated volume of gasoline using a syringe to avoid engine damage. After making sure that the problem is not in the absence of gasoline, we proceed to check the operation of the ignition unit.
Troubleshooting the ignition unit we start with a candle. To check if it works, just unscrew it, bring it to the body and try to start the engine. If everything is in order with the candle, you will see a spark flashing between the body of the brushcutter and the candle.
Another source of trouble is that a mixture of oil and gasoline floods the channel into which the plug is screwed. Try drying the canal and drying and cleaning the candle itself. You need to leave the device to dry for about one hour, then screw the spark plug back in and try to start the engine. If fuel constantly floods the candles, you are unlikely to fix this kind of malfunction yourself, so you will need to contact a qualified specialist.
If you determine that the source of the problem does not lie with the ignition unit, it is time to check. condition of unit filters, fuel and air. The air filter will need to be replaced with a new one if, after removing the old filter, you find that the engine starts easily without it. To make sure the fuel filter is working, do the following:
disconnect the hose from the filter outlet;
try starting the engine;
if the fuel mixture begins to flow out of the filter hole, then everything is in order with it; otherwise, replace the filter.
The last reason the engine won't start could be a clogged breather or muffler. You should make sure they are clean. If not, clean the exhaust port or breather.
A carburetor is a rather complex element of a brushcutter that should not be repaired by an unprepared person, with the exception of performing some simple operations, for example, cleaning the inner surface of the product from contamination without completely disassembling it. Adjusting the carburetor trimmer it is better to entrust it to specially trained people who will be able to carry out the finest adjustment without disrupting its normal performance.
The role of the gearbox in the trimmer is to mediate between the motor and the line, transferring torque from the motor to the bottom of the machine through two toothed gears.
To prevent gear wear in the gearbox and their premature failure, care must be taken to ensure that they are constantly lubricated. Most manufacturers indicate in the instructions supplied with their brushcutters that the gearbox must be filled with oil at least once a season. If you often and extensively work with the trimmer or hear unpleasant noises coming from the gearbox, check its condition and, accordingly, you will have to lubricate it more often.
To lubricate the gearbox, you need to do the following actions:
Find a plug on the gearbox, the role of which boils down to the fact that it closes the technical hole used to put a new lubricant;
Remove this plug using the special wrench supplied with the trimmer;
Use lubricants such as Litol-24, Oleo-Mas or ordinary machine oil. Apply them to the gears through the hole in the gearbox. In the process of performing the operation, slowly turn the gears to achieve uniform lubrication;
Tighten the plug on the gearbox and start the motor. Make sure that the extraneous noises that were previously heard from the gearbox have stopped.
If you hear from the gearbox hard knockingmost likely, the reason for this is that the bearings have worn out due to intensive operation, insufficient lubrication, or due to dirt entering them. There is only one solution in this situation - to replace the failed units.
If you find that the trimmer head has stopped working and is not rotating, the most likely cause of the problem is wear of gears, more precisely, their teethwhich are no longer in contact with each other and do not transmit torque from the motor. The malfunction is eliminated by disassembling the gearbox and replacing the gears with new ones.
