* If you dissolve the packaging foam in acetone, you get a universal glue that can be used to glue almost everything except food utensils.

* A sheet of foil fiberglass can be split into 2 thin sheets. It is necessary to divide the butt with a knife into 2 even parts, and then stratify. This technique is very helpful when you need a thin fiberglass, and only double-sided thick one is available.

* Glue for organic glass can be made from dichloroethane, 1-1.5 g of plexiglass shavings, dissolved in 100 ml of dichloroethane. Or by dissolving the shavings in concentrated formic acid 85%, in 100 ml.

* A crack does not form at the edge of the plank or board, when driving in even a thick nail, if you first drill a hole in this place. For this, it is not necessary to use a drill - you can take the same nail, bite off the head from it and clamp it in the chuck instead of the drill.

* Screws or nails will penetrate the wood more easily if a lubricant is used. Lubricate them with slightly damp soap, vegetable oil or bacon. For better lubrication, you need to make a small indentation (slightly drive in a nail, then remove), put grease there, and then screw in the screw.

* The caps of self-tapping screws will not twist (break off) when screwing into hard rocks if you first drill a hole there and use a lubricant.

* To paint a small area - it is not necessary to stain the brush, it can be done with a piece of foam rubber. Tie a piece of foam rubber to the stick with threads.

* If you haven't finished painting, so that the brushes do not dry out, put them in a jar of water. But, it is not worth keeping the brush in water for a long time (2-3 days, a maximum of a week), because they start to rust and deteriorate.

* Old, thickened oil paint in a jar can be stirred with a homemade whisk. Take a piece of steel wire with a diameter of 3-4 mm, bend it into a spiral in decreasing direction. We squeeze such a whisk into the cartridge - it's a minute and the paint is thoroughly mixed.

* To separate debris and dried pieces in the paint - it must be filtered through a nylon stocking or tights. So this thing will come in handy during repairs in an apartment or in the country.

* When installing new furniture, especially in the kitchen, so that it is not afraid of water, it must be specially prepared for this.

Modern furniture is usually made from chipboard (particle board) and is quite sensitive to moisture. If moisture seeps into the slab through microcracks, the slab immediately swells, and often remains irretrievably and in a distorted form even after drying.

So, to prevent this from happening, you need to:

1. Paint over the bottom of the nightstands (the edges of the chipboard) and especially the washstands with oil paint. The edges of the chipboard are the most vulnerable spot!

2. Glue the tabletops of the bedside tables adjacent to the sink at the ends with transparent tape, and you can also glue the ends of the chipboard of kitchen furniture (from the wall, under the sink) with adhesive tape, where water spill is most likely possible (accidental or not).

3. The first two points will already be enough to extend the life of the kitchen furniture at least 2 times, but you can additionally protect the sink countertop from moisture penetration into it if it is not completely made of stainless steel. To do this, cover it with ceramic tiles. In this case, the glue is used epoxy or based on epoxy resin.

Some will say that kitchen furniture is made of moisture-resistant chipboard. Who told you that this rule is always adhered to? And how to distinguish when buying whether it is made of moisture-resistant chipboard or not? Yes, and moisture-resistant furniture, although it does not deteriorate so quickly from moisture, still deteriorates, unless, of course, it is made entirely of plastic.
