natural latex (the most expensive and durable material, often a combined option with the addition of coir to obtain an orthopedic effect).

Each type of filler is designed for a certain weight and service life, so if there is a question about changing pillows, you need to take into account the purpose of the furniture.

Spring options are interesting in that they can be of a coherent structure or of an independent type, when each spring is packed in a textile cover and functions independently. Moreover, the connection of the mat is created by connecting the spring covers.

Foam structures are solid sheets of various modifications. Some roll into a roll, others are denser, so they cannot be wrapped, but they are resistant to bending and retain their original shape for a long time.

It all depends on the type of filler. If you want reliability, it is better to use a composite material based on the layered formation principle. If the budget does not allow you to pick up an expensive material, it is better to choose molded polyurethane foam: the standard one will quickly bend, which will again return to the question of changing the pillows.

When buying new pillows, pay attention to the thickness of the layer: ideally, it should not be thin. For example, a bonnel spring block with an increased wire diameter is considered a good indicator. In some cases, it has a reinforcement in the form of polyurethane foam (polyurethane foam) with a thickness of 2.5 cm, and the total thickness of the module is 18 cm.Other options include an addition to the spring block in the form of polyurethane foam, coir or felt. The combination of three materials together is 19 cm. It is great if the module is reinforced with foam rubber not only from the top and bottom, but also along the side edges.

The cost of the pillow directly depends on the filling and upholstery. For example, modules with zippers and double-sided upholstery with different patterns are much more expensive than conventional counterparts. Therefore, a removable cover is one of the important purchase factors.

The price of the modules depends not only on the components, but also on the size and configuration. For example, if you need three new small pillows measuring 40 x 63 x 15 cm, their cost will cost around 4000 rubles from chinil and two or three hundred more from tapestry. A set of three large modules 90 x 63 x 15 cm, reinforced with felt will cost from 5900 to 6200 rubles. The option with a mattress 90 x 190 x 19 cm and two pillows measuring 40 x 95 x 19 cm will turn out from 6,500 to 7,000 thousand rubles.

In addition, it is worth considering that the cost of foam modules without springs will be less. The more complex the design, the more expensive it is.

If the spring block cushion has sagged, it is not necessary to replace it completely. In this case, dismantling can be done. In order to change the stretched spring, it is loosened, then unscrewed and replaced with a new one. However, if there are too many sagging springs, it is better to replace the spring block with a new one.

Essentially, all of the embodiments are based on a multi-layer manufacturing method. Since the pillow implies exploitation, you need a base (old spring block), polyurethane foam and felt. After replacing the old weakened springs, it is supplemented with a layer of dense foam rubber from above and below, then reinforced with a layer of felt along the upper surface. To extend the integrity of the upholstery, the side edges of the block are wrapped in foam rubber (you can use a special glue for polyurethane).

If there is no spring block or it is completely unusable, then they buy or order a new molded PPU module according to the measurements taken. All that remains is to put on the cover and the sofa will look new.

If the master makes a construction of foam rubber, you need to buy material of different densities and connect the sheets according to the principle from hard to soft. You shouldn't try to save money and glue together only soft foam rubber: such a pillow will bend very quickly and form dust. Even if you want a soft seat, you can't do without a dense PU foam.

If the modules are different, and the sofa is not intended as a sleeping option, you can make a large mat of dense material, and for the pillows that form the back, choose a filler of less rigidity.

Wrapping a module is not a laborious process, but it requires accuracy. First you need to consider that you need two covers for the pillows: an inner and an outer one. One closes the structure of the module, giving it a complete look, the second performs a decorative function. The first cover is made of coarse textiles, which are characterized by good strength and density. The second fabric should also be dense, but also beautiful, blending into the interior.

To make it easier to complete the process, you can open the old cover and, in the absence of a zipper, add an allowance. Having ironed out the material, it is measured in order not to buy excess fabric, then they acquire the required amount of material and cut it out in compliance with the direction of the shared thread. You should not add allowances other than those that already exist: the fit of the textiles should be as tight as possible: slipping of the textiles, its sagging, is unacceptable, as this will lead to the formation of folds and a loss of attractive appearance.

If desired, the cover may not only consist of textiles. Sometimes a layer of padding polyester is added to it, connecting it with the upholstery with decorative stitching.Often, a cover is decorated not only with stitching, but also with a trimming piping or cord.

Choosing a sofa pillow is a topic that worries many people. With a good base in stock, you don't want to throw furniture away just because of worn-out modules. Repairing pillows will change the style of the interior and extend the life of the sofa.

Repair of an old sofa begins with an assessment of the condition of its frame: usually the back and seat of the sofa are exposed to the greatest wear, the side walls can be loose or damaged. The final stage of the repair is the upholstery constriction, because old fabric may be faded, frayed, or have holes.

Both stages of work will require disassembly of furniture - partial or complete - depending on the design features. When disassembling, it is advisable to write down the sequence of actions so that during reassembly you do not forget where the installation points of the various elements are.

The "patch" for the frame can be made either by yourself, by making accurate measurements and cutting it out of a chipboard sheet, or by contacting a large construction hypermarket that provides a carpentry service according to the customer's sketches. In some cases, it is enough to simply strengthen the damaged elements with a block of wood or a fragment of chipboard, fixing them to the frame with a nut and washer.

Repair of the spring block comes down to replacing the "sagging" springs: to do this, loosen the fixation of the damaged spiral and unscrew it, like a screw. The spring is replaced with a new one, carefully secured. If there are too many damaged springs, then it is more advisable to replace the entire block as a whole.

The side parts of the sofa are checked for integrity, wooden "patches" are installed in case of severely damaged elements, all bolts and screws loosened during operation are tightened.

The old upholstery is removed by removing any staples or furniture nails using a thin flat screwdriver or pliers. If the design and geometry of the sofa are simple enough, then you can cut out the new upholstery yourself, using the old fabric as a pattern. In cases where the new upholstery fabric is difficult to cut and sew or the sofa has an intricate design, it is recommended to contact a specialized studio.

The tension of the new upholstery begins from the front side, the fit of the fabric should be tight, but not end-to-end, in order to avoid its possible breaks. The material is fixed with a furniture stapler, monitoring the tightness of its adhesion to the foam rubber filler: the formation of folds and sagging of the fabric is unacceptable.

After that, the new upholstery is pulled on the sides and neatly laid in the corners of the sofa, the excess fabric is cut, folded and sewn up. All elements of the sofa are assembled in reverse order, the transformation mechanism is installed and firmly fixed with bolts.

The ottoman is good because it looks quite presentable during the day, and at night it turns into a comfortable sleeping bed. There are a lot of similar products in stores, you can choose any color and size. But if you want something exclusive, and skillful hands have missed work, then why not build a sofa ottoman yourself.
