Front suspension any car is exactly the place that is most exposed to strong tests while the vehicle is in motion. The suspension of a car will always carry heavy loads due to improper driving or bad or simply terrible road surfaces. To be honest - now, at the dawn of the XXI century, the roads are not much different from those that were a hundred years ago. It is clear that suspension parts will still deteriorate over time, but it is desirable that this happens as rarely as possible.

But then, one day, you heard an unpleasant knock at the front of the car. This indicates that your car has problems with the front suspension. But do not immediately go to the workshop for diagnostics and repair of the front suspension. Unless, of course, when examining the front suspension, you suddenly find a knock and play in the steering tips, or they are already ready to break away from the suspension, and the wheels are turned in different directions.

Do not immediately panic and pull out your hair on your head. Remember - the details that front suspension, are very strong and reliable knots. It will take a long time before they are completely out of order, or you should get some pretty serious knocks and knocks while driving. This may be the front wheels hitting the hole or the result of unsuccessful parking. Therefore, if you hear unpleasant squeaks or a strong knock in the front suspension, you should not immediately spend money on repairs and change steering racks, struts, etc. First, you need to figure out, diagnose where the sound is coming from and whether the knocks appeared exactly in the front suspension. It may turn out that this is a trifle and this will not affect the further operation of the car.

Video (click to play).

There are three serious reasons why the front suspension can emit unpleasant sounds and knocks. Two of them can be completely eliminated with your own hands or in a car service. There they will conduct a good diagnosis of your car, establish the reason for the creaking and knocking in the suspension, and you decide whether to continue to operate the car or leave it for repair at a car service. But the third cause of a malfunction in the front suspension is the most important, and it will be impossible to eliminate it on your own. But first, we'll talk about what kind of device the front suspension itself has. This will enable us to correctly diagnose malfunctions, and therefore, to eliminate malfunctions in a timely manner.

The suspension is a mechanical unit that, by its design, connects the car body to the road surface. In addition to this, the suspension has vehicle control units: swing arms, steering tips and rods. The next task of the suspension is to damp the vehicle while driving, and it makes the movement of the vehicle more balanced.

From this we can conclude that the appearance of extraneous and unpleasant knocks in the front suspension will mainly be influenced by the road surface (the most common reason), ride quality and design features of the chassis elements.

Therefore, if you take into account all these points, then you should not be surprised when extraneous creaks and knocks appear in the front suspension and it will need repairs. Sooner or later, an extraneous knock will still appear - it all depends on the service life and on your driving style. After all, the front suspension has a complex structure and there are many different parts.

Here is a list of those parts that can emit a knock and squeak in the front of the car when passing holes, cornering loads, accelerating or braking:

  • front brake pads
  • shock absorbers
  • silent blocks
  • shock absorber supports
  • front suspension arms
  • steering tips
  • wheel bearings
  • steering rods
  • ball joints
  • stabilizer's pole
  • the stabilizer itself
  • springs
  • stretcher
  • engine mounts

A heavy engine is located at the front of the car, which, with its weight, aggravates the load on the front suspension - therefore, the wear of the front suspension parts is just a matter of time and soon they will need to be repaired. If you have a neat driving style, then you can increase this period, but all the same, after a certain time, the elements will need to be changed. Over time, extraneous sounds appear in the suspension, which signal to us that it is time to look under the bottom of the car.

Unpleasant extraneous sounds in the chassis can appear for various reasons. For example, suspension parts may come into contact with the body, some fasteners may weaken, shock absorbers may emit extraneous noise when driving on an uneven road, rubber seals and a "boot" can also make unpleasant sounds upon arrival (sand may get under them and this will cause a sharp squeak and rapid wear of parts). A knock can appear in steering rods, bearings, and during sharp maneuvers of the car, “CV joints” can squeak. In addition, the front suspension device also has a braking system, which can emit an unpleasant squeak during heavy braking.

In a word, you need to understand that there are more than enough reasons for the appearance of extraneous knocks in the car. Indeed, as already mentioned, it is the front suspension that takes over most of the load while driving. And now, having established the causes of extraneous knocks, we will try to diagnose such sounds.

If you decide to inspect the front suspension of your car, it is best if you check the device and the rear suspension. It is quite possible that the knock appeared in the rear suspension, and through the body it will be transmitted to the front suspension and this will mislead you. In any case, it won't get any worse. Moreover, this will not take much time, but you will be firmly sure that there are no breakdowns in the rear of the car and it does not need repairs.

When you start checking, then at the same time yourself check the exhaust system of the car. It often happens that a piece of a muffler that has fallen off is easily mistaken for a knock on the front suspension of a car. The exhaust system has a simple design and is checked visually and manually. Rock the knee of the pipe, and if there is an extraneous knock, then you will immediately find the cause of your concern. It is best to use a pry bar to diagnose the front suspension. This will make your task much easier. There is another interesting point that you should pay attention to when diagnosing shock absorbers. It is not necessary to shake the car too much, wanting to establish the cause of extraneous sounds. These times are long gone. The suspension arrangement of a modern car has become much more complicated than it used to be. Therefore, this is unlikely to help you, and you will not be able to establish the cause of the shock absorber breakdown. It is best to diagnose the car in the inspection pit, and if this is not possible, then it is better to jack up the front of the car a little

  • Checking the shock absorbers at the rear of the car. We also inspect rubber boots, jet rods, especially in the place where they are attached. We also check the exhaust pipe of the muffler.
  • Inspect the shock absorbers in the front suspension. Pay attention to oil drops on the body (if any). This is a signal that it is possible that soon the shock absorbers will have to be changed.
  • We inspect the silent blocks,
  • Swivel mechanisms,
  • Ball joints;
  • We diagnose steering tips at the point of their connection. Perhaps they were the reason why the knock appeared.
  • We inspect the sealing casings.
  • Rubber boots should not have tears, cracks or other mechanical damage. It should be noted here that in most cases, extraneous squeaks appear due to the fact that water has got under the anthers. As soon as it evaporates, the creak will stop.
  • Pay close attention to the steering rods. To do this, use a pry bar. If the tip moves easily from side to side, then this element must be urgently replaced. It is recommended to replace the steering tips in pairs.

As a result of carrying out all these works on diagnosing the front suspension and examining each unit, you will precisely determine the cause of the unpleasant knock that annoys you. And then you will decide which parts of the front suspension require repair, and which will still serve.

You may be able to do some of the repairs yourself in your garage. If this is beyond your power, or you do not have the conditions for carrying out repair work, then it is better to contact a car repair shop. But, nevertheless, a thorough inspection of the car's undercarriage will be of great service to you. And if in a car service "tough" masters begin to impose on you the replacement of those parts that are not required to be replaced, then they will not be able to convince you of this. You can easily prove to them that only a couple of rubber boots need to be replaced and no more repairs are required.

Good luck on our roads! Let it go front suspension does not bother you with extraneous knocking and does not distract from a pleasant ride.

An unpleasant sound appeared in the suspension when hitting small bumps or tram tracks, for example. Moreover, this sound is more like a ‘bryak’, it’s as if it’s not metallic, but as if something loosened there. It also seems to happen when the suspension is in release. Can anyone have any advice ??

checked the oil seals. If you swing the car to the left, is there sound to the right?

There was a knock on the left suspension, took off the wheel, put the assembly between the stabilizer and the protection, pressed it and the stabilizer post went down! With a 16 key and a hexagon, tightened it and passed 2 thousand. peace and quiet.

someone didn’t tighten up the campaign before your operation))

Hello everyone, in connection with the receipt of the keys to the new apartment, there was not enough time and money for a car and put it on the back burner, but did not forget and slowly bought everything necessary. Reading the experience of pyzhevodov, I prepared for the worst, bought almost everything, except for the cup against which the spring rests:
Shock absorbers monroe g7330 and g7329 (2460 each)
Repair kit Snr kb659.33 x2 (1170)
Spring tie 71770 (600r)
Repair kit monroe pk124 (945)

The Peugeot 308 has excellent handling thanks to its innovative suspensions. But due to the various defects that exist on the roads, the suspensions of French cars can hardly be called hardy. The Peugeot chassis is the most vulnerable in a car, so it should be regularly diagnosed at every scheduled maintenance check.

There are a lot of reasons for a car suspension malfunction; it is worth highlighting several main and common problems associated with malfunctions of the car's chassis. It often happens that the cause of a suspension malfunction is directly related to shock absorber problems. It is worth noting that earlier Peugeot models had oil shock absorbers that easily worked 100-120 thousand kilometers. But now, basically, Peugeot cars are produced with gas-filled shock absorbers, which will last much less than oil ones. The problem of shock absorbers, their wear, is very difficult to recognize, so this problem should be treated more carefully.

Repair of the Peugeot 308 suspension can also be triggered by problems associated with ball joints, which are one of its main elements. Usually, if any malfunctions of the ball joints are found, they are simply replaced with new ones. It often happens that the ball joints are replaced along with the levers, and the repair will cost a little more.

Problems can also be caused by other defects in the Peugeot chassis. With a thorough diagnosis of the rear and front suspensions, it is very easy to discover any hidden problems. Especially, diagnostics are urgently needed if you find various squeaks, thuds or vibrations.

Problems often arise because of the weakest point of a French car - the stabilizer struts. It is because of their malfunction that you can often hear a thud when driving. The service life of the struts is rather short, therefore, suspension repairs due to a malfunction of the stabilizer struts are performed quite often. But here, too, there is a small plus, the wear of the stabilizer bushings is much less than that of the struts. Therefore, it is with these elements that there are fewer problems. Also, you can easily determine by ear if the car has problems with the stabilizer bushings. If you hear knocks when the car is rolling, then there is a problem with the bushings.

I would especially like to note the rear suspension of the Peugeot 308. Suspension parts have a much longer service life, but there is one small drawback - the needle bearings of the trailing arms. Their service life is short enough, especially for those who like fast driving, so needle bearings are replaced quite often, but it is not a big problem when repairing the suspension.

Also, in addition to all of the above, problems often arise due to malfunctioning support bearings and suspension arms. Replacement of support bearings occurs simultaneously with replacement of shock absorbers. The reason for replacing bearings can be related to both noisy steering, wear and the end of their useful life. The levers change, moreover, if, during the diagnosis, gaps in the rear suspension were found or any damage to the plugs occurred.

It is also worth noting that in addition to its shortcomings, the chassis of the Peugeot 308 is distinguished by its higher reliability from other models of this brand. Basically, problems can be caused by a malfunctioning shock absorber struts, which are replaced only once a year. Therefore, there should not be any special problems with the repair of the suspension of this car.

It is quite obvious that any Peugeot chassis unit must be in good condition. This is especially true of the suspension, since, unlike the engine, which may fail and the Peugeot 308 simply will not go further, the breakdown of some suspension elements while driving can lead to a serious accident.

1. Besides the obvious safety, the chassis of the Peugeot 308 is responsible for a comfortable ride and good handling. The most dangerous thing is that in this case there will be a high probability of loss of control, with the next collision with an obstacle that has arisen on the road. Only regular diagnostics of the Peugeot 308 chassis will help to avoid such a situation.

Diagnostics of the Peugeot 308 chassis includes checking the elements:

  • springs and shock absorbers;
  • levers and supports (bearings from above, silent blocks from below);
  • stabilizer bushings Peugeot 308;
  • steering rods and rack;
  • wheel bearings;
  • CV JOINT.

2. For experienced Peugeot 308 owners, it is not difficult to determine the malfunction in the suspension. Experience will tell them what the problem is by the sound and its source. Plus, the most common suspension faults sound pretty much the same in all cars.

Diagnostics of the Peugeot 308 chassis should be carried out regularly, even without showing any hints of a malfunction. It is better to do this on a lift, but it can also be done on an ordinary flyover or observation pit.

3.It is important to remember how the Peugeot 308 behaves in good condition, then any malfunction in the future will be obvious. To understand that something is wrong with a car, you do not need to be an experienced driver, and even more so, an auto mechanic.

Most often, the following signs of malfunctions of the Peugeot 308 chassis occur:

  • the sudden appearance of noise, knocking, bouncing of the Peugeot 308 chassis, which can both disappear and remain even on a completely flat road;
  • too large rolls when cornering and noticeable swaying of the body when passing bumps or when braking;
  • arbitrary steering to the side, Peugeot 308 leads away when driving straight;
  • uneven tire wear.

4. Most often you can hear exactly the knock of the Peugeot 308 suspension, it indicates that the rubber elements are worn out or the fasteners that hold them are loose. There are a lot of rubber elements in the chassis, by and large, almost any Peugeot 308 suspension unit can knock, as a result, in order to accurately identify the cause of the knock, the car must be inspected from below.

If you hear a crunch, especially when cornering or with a sharp acceleration of the Peugeot 308, then we can say with almost complete certainty that the reason lies in the malfunction of the CV joint of the Peugeot 308, the so-called grenade. A squeak most often occurs after replacing the stabilizer bushings, often this indicates a poor-quality bushing.

5. If the Peugeot 308 began to drift aside, more often it happens after the hard passage of pits and potholes, then you may have to do the alignment (alignment of the Peugeot 308). At best, this will eliminate the trouble, at worst, upon impact, something could bend, starting from the steering rod and ending with the steering knuckle.

If at least one of these signs occurs, it is necessary to diagnose the Peugeot 308 chassis as soon as possible. Even in the rules, operation with a faulty suspension is expressly prohibited, not to mention that it is simply dangerous.

6. Peugeot 308 suspension silent block not replaced in time, which is not so expensive, can lead to a breakdown of the lever, with a price tag of one hundred dollars. Many drivers drive without paying attention to the sounds that appear in the Peugeot 308 chassis, and drive until the sound becomes completely critical, or until something simply falls off, this approach is simply absurd.

7. Periodic visual inspection of the Peugeot 308 undercarriage will save money, after all, if you find a cracked boot or cover in time and make a prompt replacement, then the element that was protected by the boot will last longer. If, when examining the Peugeot 308, an already torn boot was found, then you can be sure that soon this suspension element will need to be replaced.

After checking all the anthers, you should start diagnosing the elements of the Peugeot 308 front suspension. The front suspension is more complicated than the rear one, it is subject to heavy loads, as a result, it breaks down much more often. First, we inspect the shock absorbers of the Peugeot 308; they should not have dents or oil leaks. You can also try to swing the shock absorber to the sides, the swing amplitude should be insignificant.

But the easiest way to check the serviceability of this suspension element is to swing the Peugeot 308 by pressing the corner where the shock absorber being diagnosed is located. If, after pressing, the Peugeot 308, having returned to its original state, continued to swing up and down, then this indicates a malfunction of the shock absorber.

8. Next, the springs of the Peugeot 308 chassis are examined, often their turns break off, so you need to inspect them for cracks and the integrity of all turns. But here you can also determine the functionality of the springs without looking under the car. To do this, you just need to pay attention to the ground clearance of the Peugeot 308, if the car has become noticeably lower, then this already indicates a malfunction of the springs, they sagged and can no longer perform their function properly.

9.Ball and silent blocks are checked only from the bottom side of the Peugeot 308. To diagnose them, it is better to use some kind of metal lever to make it easier to check everything for backlash, they should not be in a working car. The stabilizer and thrust bearings of the Peugeot 308 are checked in the same way. To check the wheel bearing, you need to shake the wheel, if there is play, this indicates a poor condition of the bearing.

5. Remove the upper support of the shock absorber from the rod.

The upper support of the rack is a non-separable unit, therefore, in the event of a malfunction or damage to its elements, it is necessary to replace the complete unit. Replace the upper support in case of severe deformation.

mation or local bulging of the rubber mass. Replace the support if the thrust bearing is corroded, has radial play, or is seized when rotating.

eight. . clip of the protective cover.

10. . compression buffer with protective sleeve.

10. Remove the compression buffer from the protective boot.

11. Inspect the removed parts, if you find scuffs, cracks or tears, replace the damaged parts.

12. Inspect the shock absorber. If cracks, deformation and destruction are found on the body, the lower spring cup, oil drips, replace the shock absorber.

13. Install the shock absorber strut in a vertical position and several times until it stops, lower and raise the shock absorber rod. When moving the stem, make sure that it moves without dips, jams or knocks. If not, replace the stand.

This check of the shock absorber strut is approximate, for a more accurate assessment of its technical condition, contact a car service

14. Replace the spring if cracked or deformed coils are found.

15. Assemble the shock absorber strut in the reverse order of disassembly.

Earlier, when describing our impressions of the test drive of the car Peugeot 308provided to us by the official representative of the concern Peugeot in Belarus - CJSC "Siftrans-Plus", we have already talked about the comfortable, balanced and perfectly tuned suspension of this car. And now, as promised, we provide a brief description of those technical solutions and those changes that were made during the design. Peugeot 308 compared to its progenitor - Peugeot 307.

Front suspension Peugeot 308

Front on Peugeot 308 a MacPherson-type suspension is used, which provides fairly high technical characteristics Peugeot 308and also meets the increased demands of owners who want to have a car with more sporty handling. At the same time, sporty handling must be realized without compromising the high level of comfort.

The engineers and designers of Peugeot have brilliantly solved the problem of implementing these mutually exclusive requirements. It is no secret that Peugeot car suspensions have always been renowned for their endurance. This is primarily due to the implementation of the principle of reasonable conservatism, in the use of engineering solutions that have only proven their reliability.

The Peugeot 308 uses a MacPherson strut front suspension with gas-filled shock absorber struts and an anti-roll bar. This suspension arrangement is now used on most Peugeot vehicles. And since the platform of its predecessor, the Peugeot 307, was used when creating the Peugeot 308, the capabilities and characteristics of the suspension of the new car were immediately brought to technical perfection. On the 308th model, everything is done in the best traditions of the brand - all loaded parts are made of forged steel using the Colbapress® technology patented by Peugeot.

When constructing the suspension and its elements, one of the requirements was to ensure good maintainability in combination with monetary efficiency. This was achieved due to the "refinement" of spare parts and replaceable units. For example, if any of the hinges is out of order, it is changed separately, and not together with the lever (or levers).

To achieve that excellent handling, which we talked about during the test and which is noted in almost all other tests of this car, the construction of all its competitors, from Volkswagen Golf and Mazda 3 to "charged" Alfa Romeo, were thoroughly examined.

Rear suspension

At first glance, the rear of the Peugeot 308 is a classic design used on many cars. The torsionally “P” -shaped rear suspension has an integrated anti-roll bar, made in the form of a torsion bar, built-in between the parts of the beam that act as trailing arms. The use of this torsion bar made it possible to ensure high accuracy of the suspension, improve handling, and by reducing the mass, achieve a high smoothness of the car, which immediately after the start of movement, and only to an excellent degree, will be appreciated by the passengers sitting behind.

The suspension turned out to be very compact, which made it possible, while maintaining the overall external and internal dimensions of the Peugeot 308, relative to its predecessor, to significantly increase the space for passengers in the rear row of seats.

Probably one of the most important innovations in the Peugeot 308's rear suspension is the full implementation of the passive steering effect. The steering effect consists in the fact that while the car is passing a bend at a higher speed in advance than the road conditions allow, the arising centrifugal force tries to "throw" the car out of the bend, shift its trajectory out of the bend. Under the action of this force, the kinematics of the rear suspension of the Peugeot 308 slightly turns the rear wheels in such a way that the car would go through a turn without causing any unpleasant sensations to the driver. It is thanks to this effect that in almost all driving modes the neutral steering of the Peugeot 308, which is more typical for sports and racing cars, is ensured.

The material from which the units and parts of the rear suspension are made is the same as that of the front - alloy steel.

First, the springs and supports were changed. On the right side, the spring was broken. Plus, a metal sleeve was knocked out in the upper support. Changed from both sides at once. And on the right side, everything became normal. The knock on the left remained. Then the ball valves were changed at the service station. The knock remained. We thought about shock absorbers. We also changed them, plus some bearings inside. Everything, then shrug their shoulders.

The car was rocked - everything is ok. On the lift, with a crowbar, they touched everything with their hands, felt it - everything is ok. The knock is distinctly on the pits, you drive 40 kilometers, you run into the hatch - tah, right down the nerves. The people, if not looking, say that the ball is in the trash, then the stretcher is not fixed, then they raise it, and everything is ideal.

Maybe someone knows where there is a worker in Minsk vibration table? Or a master who is on Peugeot pendants? Or have you solved similar problems more than once?

I read a similar problem on the forum, but there people sharpened and drilled supports so that they were tightly to the body. I don’t have any confidence that this is exactly what I don’t really want to sponsor such an alteration. It is clear that the Peugeot has no structurally modified support for the body. But the 308s are driving nearby and nothing knocks.

Everyone and beyond - thanks for the advice. Let's go in order.

As you can imagine, I am not an auto mechanic and I cannot twist something myself. At the service station when I was swinging, swinging and together - the suspension does NOT knock.

I thought so too, but looking at the helplessness of the specialists in our workshops, I think that it is the tough specialists that are needed. It got sick, therefore, somewhat emotionally.

There was also a knock on the old spring on the left. The springs were changed on kayaba according to the catalog. The same knock on the new one.(The old spring remained, if anyone is interested and has a desire to be curious. The second one was thrown out because it was burst). Therefore, the spring has nothing to do with it. When the shock absorbers were changed, the springs were rearranged. The knock is the same. Therefore, it is worth the nip in the rack correctly. Yes, on the new springs, the front end became a few centimeters higher, seen from the side, so they did not sag.

I can't understand what you mean, what exactly was not clamped, but on the last trip to the third service station, the mechanic probed the nut under the frill and whether it is clamped. Squeezed. Yes, and when replacing the springs, everything seemed to be clamped tightly with me.

I assure you that the hatch has nothing to do with it. I went to three service stations and two garages, the craftsmen got into the car, everything is clearly audible, but they look - and can not do anything. In one service station, the master laughingly said that the stretcher was not fixed. Then they collectively lifted the car, felt it, twisted it, and somehow all the laughter ended. They advised me to go and sort it out to those whose suspension was repaired. Well, and those - advised to ride "until it comes out."

I, as it were, guys, need help, where I can drive up to and repair my fawn.

The front suspension is independent, lever-spring type MacPherson, with telescopic shock-absorber struts 4 (Fig. 7.1), coil coil springs 3, wishbones 7, stabilizer bar 9 of torsional stability.

The main elements of the front suspension are telescopic shock absorber struts 4, which combine the functions of a telescopic element of the guide mechanism and a damping element for vertical oscillations of the wheel relative to the body.

On the shock absorber struts, coil springs 3, compression buffers with protective covers and upper supports with thrust bearings are assembled. The load is transferred to the vehicle body through the upper support. The shock absorber is connected to the suspension arm 7 through the steering knuckle 5 by a ball joint 6.

The anti-roll bar 9 is connected to the cross member of the car's front suspension by two brackets through rubber cushions, and to the shock absorber struts 4 - by struts 8.

Levers 7 of the front suspension are attached to the cross member 1 through hinges (silent blocks).

The front wheel hubs are mounted on non-adjustable double row angular contact ball bearings.

To replace the stabilizer bar for Peugeot 308, you must first raise the car and remove the wheel. To work, you need a set of simple tools and some free time. Do everything according to our instructions, and you will cope with this work yourself.

Ball stabilizer struts

First, you need to unscrew the wheel from a certain side, after which it will be possible to start dismantling the anti-roll bar. This can be done with a 16 key and a 30 Torex key.

There is a crimp nut on the stabilizer post, so it is difficult to unscrew it. We recommend pre-cleaning the threaded connection with a metal brush and puffing VD-40 or using brake fluid.

In every vehicle, the front stabilizer bar is an essential element. Peugeot 308 is no exception. The part that we will talk about today connects the stabilizer with other elements of the front suspension of the car. The front stabilizer struts of the Peugeot 308 are responsible for maintaining a stable position of the car when cornering.

As a result, the front stabilizer struts carry the main load, so car owners often turn to workshops with a similar problem. If you want to save money and do it yourself, you should follow our simple instructions.

The front pillars of the Peugeot 308 consist of a high strength metal bar and reliable fasteners. The weak point is the special thinning created by the designers to improve safety while driving. This is where the stabilizer struts usually break. The quality of the roadway plays an important role in this.When developing the Peugeot 308, the designers focused on operation on European roads, on which they tested the car. At the same time, the model does not tolerate bad Russian roads, and the long service life of the stabilizing struts is greatly reduced.

It is not difficult to diagnose a malfunction of the stabilizer struts of the Peugeot 308. When passing speed bumps or small pits, an unpleasant rattling knock is heard on the body, arising in the broken hinges of the struts. Thus, to determine the malfunction, simply drive at low speed on bad roads, and you will definitely hear the stabilizer malfunctioning if something is wrong with it.

The main reasons for the failure of the stabilizer struts of the Peugeot 308 include the following factors:

  • natural wear of the anthers and the racks themselves over time;
  • too high a speed when driving through bad road sections;
  • technical problems can be caused by the driving style of the motorist: harsh braking, fast cornering;
  • constant overload of the car and disregard of the manufacturer's recommendations when operating a car.

Learn to smoothly start moving without a sudden start. Also try to avoid emergency braking unless absolutely necessary. Check the condition of the Peugeot 308 suspension yourself or periodically drive into a service station for preventive diagnostics. These simple measures will extend the life of the vehicle in general and the stabilizer struts in particular.

To work, you need a small set of simple tools:

  • keys for 10 and 12;
  • heads for 12 and 14 with a crank;
  • extension for the wrench;
  • cardan joint.

To begin with, you must suspend the front axle of the machine and remove the mud flaps of the power unit. Remove the nut that holds the anti-roll bar to the bar. At the same time, fix the bolt with a socket head wrench. Next, remove the upper washer and rubber grommet. If you are not dismantling the rack for replacement, mark the position of the other components before removing so that they can be replaced later.

Pulling the bolt down, it is necessary to remove the washers, rubber bushings and the spacer sleeve of the stabilizer legs. Likewise, remove the other stabilizer arm if necessary.

Remove the two bolts that secure the right bracket and remove it along with the rubber grommet. Remove the two bolts on the left bracket that holds the stabilizer bar.

Dismantle the stabilizer stay bracket with a rubber bushing, and then unscrew the fastening bolts of the first and second auto tube holders in the direction of travel. Remove the bar from the machine, but do not bend the tubes more than necessary, or you may damage them.

Install all removed parts in reverse order. Consider the placement and orientation of the bushings and washers. The protrusions of the bushings should fit into the holes in the rod and arm so that the post bolt does not come into contact with the arm and rod. Finally, tighten the nuts to 38 millimeters after lowering the machine to the ground.

Externally imposing Peugeot 308 was presented to the world community in 2007; it went on sale in Russia by the winter of 2008. The success of its predecessor, the Peugeot 307, was evident, which was confirmed by high demand. At the same time, there were many complaints about technical malfunctions and shortcomings of cars, which played a negative role for the model, because Peugeot repair at one time became more popular than ever. With the release of the Peugeot 308, many had the happy thought that all the shortcomings were taken into account, and the defects were corrected, but no, sir, whatever one may say, the French cannot bring things to perfection. So, let's talk about the weak points of the Peugeot 308.

Active drivers should understand that in the front suspension, by 20-30 thousand kilometers, the stabilizer struts begin to fail. The support bearings of the front struts begin to develop closer to 60-80 thousand km. This is indicated by squeaks when the steering wheel is turned.If you are approaching a mileage of 100 thousand km, be aware that you may need to repair the Peugeot 308 in the areas of hub bearings and ball joints.

Despite the problems with the AL4 automatic transmission on the previous version of Peugeot, the French basically decided to put it on the three hundred and eighth model, citing the modifications made. Yes, now, for automatic transmissions, the repair and maintenance of the Peugeot 308 begins in the interval between the car passing 100-150 thousand km, but it still does not want to work without thoroughly warming up the car in winter, pulls the tug weakly and can junk with an aggressive driving style. As for the five- and six-speed manual transmissions, here the French really fixed most of the flaws.

If you made a scratch on the car body, it is better to repair the Peugeot 308 right away, because, as practice shows, corrosion in this model appears quickly. It is also worth keeping the front plastic fenders away from the scorching sun, if you are not planning a freelance visit to the Peugeot 308 car service in St. Petersburg. And the thing is that when overheated, the wings begin to warp slightly. During the cold season, the headlight caps quickly become cloudy, which makes the dipped and main beams dimmer than usual, and this, by the way, is safety.

Despite the fact that after the 2011 restyling, the engines on the cars became more powerful and, in some ways, more reliable, which facilitates the maintenance of the Peugeot 308, defects still remain in them. The most common version of the engine is 1.6 liters. with a capacity of 120 "horses" is still rejected by the timing mechanism. His main problem is premature stretching. It happens that the pump, as well as the thermostat, starts to fail, but it actually costs about 5,000 rubles, plus the Peugeot 308 service itself to replace it.
