If we talk about modern production, then in 2017 the Kurganmashzavod plant underwent significant changes. It began to be used for the production of military equipment. But because of this, the production of caravans was not discontinued. Production was moved to the city of Cheboksary, retaining a team of experienced specialists and engineers. We also managed to maintain the entire production cycle.

Now KMZ trailers are produced at a new site. The specialists modernized the production base, which made it possible to improve the quality of products and reduce the cost of manufacturing equipment. Therefore, changes are not always for the worse.

To begin with, I would like to note that this is a trailer for passenger cars, focused on the transportation of various goods. The plant provides for the installation of a whole list of assemblies and parts, including shock absorbers, bearings and silent blocks, identical to those used on domestic cars. So, you can put on a trailer a set of wheels from VAZ or Moskvich. The exception is the Moskvich model M 2141.

I agree that in some modern KMZ 8136, which have gone through alteration and revision, it is difficult to recognize the outlines of a classic domestic trailer even from a photo. But nothing lasts forever, therefore it is required to improve and modernize the design. Even if initially KMZ 8136 has excellent quality.

Reading the reviews, I found that many cannot find the frame number on their KMZ trailer. I am in a hurry to help. Usually this number is located in the area of ​​the left side lamp. Look in that area.

It often happens that during the operation the room gets dirty, erased or covered with new layers of paint. This is an obvious flaw on the part of the manufacturer, since the number was not duplicated on the 8136 models until 2000. It is located only in one place and is sometimes poorly visible due to the initially not very high-quality application.
