One of the main advantages of the new Daimos distribution box is its ability to withstand increased loads. In addition, the new unit has grown in size compared to its predecessor. This entailed a change in the design of the propeller shaft of the rear axle of the UAZ Patriot, after which it began to be produced in one piece. Previously, this transfer element consisted of a pair of hollow pipes with an intermediate connection segment. Now this link (bearing) is absent, which favorably helps to reduce the level of vibrations and increases the resource of the entire mechanism.
Also, the design of the transfer unit made it possible to abandon many of the gears and shafts that were present in the old box. Now in the Dymos unit, the chain is the transmitter of the moment, which significantly reduces the noise of the mechanism as a whole.
Note that in order to increase the clearance, the manufacturer raised the new razdatka and fixed it as high as possible. The clearance is now 320 mm.
To ensure the possibility of installing the Korean box in the UAZ Patriot drive system, the designers had to change the transmission tunnel. Its dimensions are larger. Due to the larger dimensions of the new dispensing unit, the developers had to abandon the hand brake mechanism. Previously, the handbrake blocked the rear propeller shaft, and the mechanism itself was located near the transfer case. Now special mechanisms located in the immediate vicinity of the discs are responsible for blocking the wheels.
For the updated UAZ Patriot, an upgraded gearbox has become available. It was kindly presented by the same company - Dymos.

The unit is equipped with a five-stage gear selection mechanism, which has proven itself on the positive side in terms of reliability. The box requires a minimum of maintenance and is famous for its excellent resource.Despite the fact that the Daimos transmission and razdatka are combined units, the manufacturer has provided lubricants for them with different consistencies.
To remove the transfer unit for repair purposes, you will need to resort to the simultaneous dismantling of the transmission unit. The circuit is suitable for this purpose. During the operation of the distributor, check the oil level and replace it within the time specified in the lubrication table. Check all fasteners periodically.

Disassemble the transfer case in the following order:
- Disconnect the transfer case from the transmission.
- Unscrew the four bolts and remove the cover 1 (Fig. 3) of the power take-off hatch with a gasket.
- Place the gear lever in the front axle disengaged position. Unscrew the four mounting bolts and remove the shift mechanism 2 by tilting the mechanism back.
- Unscrew the two screws 7 and remove the drum 6 of the parking brake.
- Holding the flange 3 of the rear axle drive shaft using a special wrench, unscrew the nut 5 of the flange and remove the flange with a thrust washer 4.
- Unscrew the four bolts 8 securing the brake mechanism 9 to the UAZ-Patriot transfer case and remove it.
- Unscrew sensor 3 (Fig. 2) for switching on the front axle. Holding the flange 7 of the front axle drive shaft using a special tool, unscrew the nut 9, remove the thrust washer 8 and the flange.
- Unscrew three bolts 5 and remove cover 6 and gasket 10.
- Unscrew the bolts 1 connecting the crankcase parts and separate the crankcase so that all internal parts remain on the cover. Do not remove plugs 2 and 4 unless absolutely necessary.
- Unscrew the bolt 9 (Fig. 8) fastening the stopper 10 of the rods 3 and 4 of the forks and press out the rods from the crankcase cover with a brass hammer, at the same time removing the forks 5 and -
- At the same time, keep the balls 6 and springs 8 of the clips located in the sockets of the forks from falling out.
- Remove the stopper 1 of the fitting of the driven gear 2 of the speedometer of the UAZ-Patriot transfer case and remove the gear together with the fitting.
- Remove covers 19 and 23 of bearings 14 and 25 of intermediate shaft 11 and shaft 12 of the front axle drive, respectively.
- Using two screwdrivers, remove the circlip 16 and 20 of the intermediate shaft and front axle drive shaft bearings. Press out the shafts using a mandrel and hammer.
- Unscrew the nut 24 of the intermediate shaft. Using a puller, press out the intermediate gear 2 (Fig. 7) together with the inner ring 3 of the bearing.
- Unscrew the nut 15 (see Fig. 8) of the front axle drive shaft. Using a puller, press out gear 1 (Fig. 6) of the front axle drive together with the inner ring 4 of the bearing.
- Unscrew one bolt 26 (see Fig. 8) and remove the cover 1 (Fig. 5) of the rear bearing of the rear axle drive shaft.
- Press out the rear axle drive shaft using a brass hammer.
- Remove the circlip 3 and press out the outer bearing race 4 with a puller.
- Press out bearing 8 with a puller together with the drive gear 7 of the speedometer and the inner ring 6 of the bearing 4.
- Unscrew the two screws 11 (Fig. 4) of the plate 10 securing the lock for the UAZ-Patriot transfer case.
- Remove the retainer plate 10, the spring 9 of the lever and the lever 8 gear shifting.
- From the retaining plate of the retainer, press out the pin 13 of the retainer from the side, the opposite of the groove on the pin. Do not press out unless absolutely necessary pins 6 and posts 14 of the retainer

Assessment of the technical condition of UAZ-Patriot handout parts
After disassembly, thoroughly rinse all transfer case parts in kerosene, blow with compressed air and inspect.
When doing this, pay attention to the following. By visual inspection, identify cracks, chips, breaks, paying special attention to the lugs of the crankcase and cover, the condition of the threads in the holes, the absence of nicks and burrs on the surfaces to be sealed.
Replace the crankcase and cover with cracks, chips, breaks. Eliminate minor defects. Note that the transfer case and cover are machined together and therefore are not interchangeable across transfer cases.
There should be no chips or nicks on the gear teeth of the transfer case.The side surface of the teeth should not have traces of chipping and crushing, there should be no scoring on the end surfaces of the gears.
The seating surfaces must be free from damage and wear that would disturb the alignment of the parts. Replace worn gears.
Transfer case shafts must be free of thread damage. Shaft splines should not have scoring, burrs, nicks, deep crushing of the side surfaces. Replace worn shafts.
The flanges of the universal joint shafts must not have a spline width of more than 4.645 mm. The wear of the surface under the working edges of the cuff should not be more than 0.3 mm deep.
Bearings should not have damage to cages, cracks and chips of rings and chipping of treadmills, as well as a noticeable radial clearance. Replace worn bearings.
The cuffs should not have tears, tears and cracks on the working surface and deformation of the reinforcement. The wear line of the working edges should not be more than 2 mm. Replace worn cuffs.
The shift forks of the UAZ-Patriot transfer case should not have cracks, bending and heavy wear. Replace worn parts. The latch must be free from cracks and deformations.
The protective cover for the shift lever must not be torn or cracked. The cover should fit snugly around the arm and arm body. Use a feeler gauge to measure the following clearances.
The gap between the fork and the gear wheel of direct and underdrive: nominal clearance 0.1-0.41 mm; permissible (maximum) clearance of 0.5 mm. If the clearance is more than acceptable, replace the fork or gear.
Axial clearance of the front axle drive gear (clearance between gear 30 (see Fig. 1) and thrust washer 48): nominal clearance 0.1-0.174 mm; permissible (maximum) clearance 0.3 mm. If the clearance is greater than the allowable, replace the gear or thrust washer.
The gap between the fork 1 and the clutch 2 of the front axle engagement:
- nominal clearance 0.08-0.32 mm; - permissible (maximum) clearance of 0.4 mm.
If the clearance is greater than the allowable, replace the fork or clutch.
Axial clearance between the inner and outer bearing races (with a washer):
- nominal clearance 0.047-0.155 mm; - permissible (maximum) clearance of 0.4 mm.
If the clearance is greater than the allowable, replace the bearing.
Assemble the transfer case of the UAZ-Patriot car with the gearbox in the following order:
- Engage the second gear in the gearbox.
- Engage the transfer case drive gear with the rear axle drive shaft.
- Place the transfer case on the parking brake drum with the flange facing up.
- Lubricate the two gaskets and the plate with sealant on both sides and install on the transfer case.
- Place the gearbox on the transfer case so that the holes for the studs and bolts match.
- Turning the input shaft of the gearbox, align the splines of the output shaft of the gearbox with the splines of the drive gear of the transfer case and set the gearbox down.
- Place spring washers under the nuts and bolt heads and, evenly tightening the nuts and bolts, connect the gearbox to the transfer case.
- Check the engagement of all gears in the UAZ-Patriot transfer case by turning the shafts by hand over the brake drum or flange of the front axle drive shaft and over the input shaft of the gearbox.
- All gears must be clearly fixed in the engaging and neutral positions.
- Install the gearbox and transfer case shift levers when installing the unit on the vehicle.
UAZ Patriot is an off-road vehicle designed to overcome difficult road conditions. In order for the car to work effectively on a particular section of the road, the transfer case needs to work properly. It determines how much force will be transferred to one or another axis to quickly pass an obstacle.
It also regulates the torque on the drive wheels and ensures that the car moves at maximum torque at low speed. As you understood, off-road driving with a faulty transfer case is impossible. Arbitrary shutdown of gears.
1. If the bearings and gears are worn out, replace them. 2. With increased clearance between the shaft and pinion, select the correct parts. 3. In case of incomplete engagement of gears - replacement of parts. 4. When the retainer is loosened, replace parts.
1. In case of damage to the linings and plugs, cracks in the crankcase, wear of the cuffs, replace the parts. 2. When loosening the nuts and bolts of the covers - tighten the bolts.
1. If the oil level is low and particles get into the bearings, replace the bearings. 2. If the double-row bearing of the drive shaft is seized, flush the bearing.

You will need: keys "for 10", "for 12", "for 17", a flat-blade screwdriver, a hammer, a chisel, a mounting kit.
Place the vehicle on a viewing ditch or lift.
Drain the oil from the transfer case.
Before removing the propeller shafts, we make a notch with a chisel on the flanges so that during installation we do not confuse the position (with a difference in position, an imbalance may appear).
To make it easier to disconnect the cardan transmission of the main gear, we unscrew the bolts fastening to the flange of the rear axle (in this position, you can turn the shaft to approach the bolts of the front flange).
In the passenger compartment, we remove the right decorative panel of the floor cladding, for which we unscrew the two self-tapping screws of the panel fastening, moving it along the direction of the car, remove it.
Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the decorative cover for the transfer case control lever.

The distribution box for UAZ is responsible for the distribution of torque from the car engine to all drive mechanisms, and also allows you to increase the number of gears in the transmission.Moreover, the transfer case is capable of increasing torque when driving on poor road surfaces and is an essential attribute of any 4WD vehicle.
The UAZ transfer case device is a two-stage design without an center differential and with a neutral gear, as well as with a disabled front axle. The design includes a cast-iron crankcase with a cover, which is attached to the rear wall of the gearbox through the holes in the support plate. A parking brake mechanism is also attached to the rear of the transfer case.
The drive shafts, intermediate shafts and drive shafts of the rear and front axles are located in the crankcase, on bearings, between which the speedometer drive gear is located. The top of the transfer case is equipped with a hatch, which is closed with a lid.
It is important to understand how the handout control mechanism works. So, it consists of two rods with forks, which are attached to the cover. These forks lead to the drive gear and the front axle engagement gear. Also, two control levers are connected to the forks, by means of movable rods and levers. There is also a special locking ball that does not allow you to turn on a downshift when the front axle is disabled.
When direct drive is engaged, the drive gear is displaced into the gear bore of the rear axle shaft, thus the torque is transmitted directly.
When the downshift is engaged, the drive gear is displaced in such a way that the torque is transmitted to the intermediate shaft and to both gears of the axle drive shafts. Do not forget that you can only engage a downshift after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
In order for the UAZ transfer case to work reliably and for a long time, it is necessary not only to regularly check it, but also to update it. Like any other part of the car, the transfer case requires some maintenance. The first thing to do is check the oil level in the dispenser.
It is also necessary to regularly check the integrity of the fasteners on which the distributor is held. If you notice that the oil is leaking, you need to quickly find the source of the problem and replace the plug, gasket, or the like.
In this section, we will tell you why the transfer case for UAZ may not work, what malfunctions drivers face, why breakdowns occur and, most importantly, how to fix them.
Increased noise in the transfer case. This may be due to bearing wear caused by insufficient lubrication or contamination of the lubricant, or gear tooth wear caused by loose nuts and bolts. Complicated gear shifting. The reasons for this inconvenience can be jamming in control mechanisms, contamination or corrosion of parts, nicks in the teeth, or unequal tire swing radius. In order to fix the problem, you will need to clean the control mechanisms, replace unusable parts and clean out nicks.
While the vehicle is in motion, the gears are switched off by themselves. Wear of the gear teeth, incomplete engagement of the gear due to deformation of parts or wear of the bearings, which leads to misalignment of the shafts, can provoke the disengagement of the gear. To fix the problem, it is necessary to replace worn gears and bearings, as well as fix or replace deformed parts and clean out nicks.
Oil leak. Oil can leak for many reasons. The most common of them are: loosening of fasteners, wear of gaskets and bearing caps, wear of oil seals, as well as microcracks in the body of the part. As in previous cases, it is necessary to replace all worn out consumables and tighten all nuts and bolts well.
Before carrying out the repair of the RK UAZ with your own hands, it is important to see what kind of box you have, synchronized or not: the set of tools required for the repair will depend on this. In general, the repair of the transfer case at the UAZ is the replacement of worn out parts or the tightening of all nuts, bolts and fasteners. That is why the dismantling and assembly of the box are important processes. With proper disassembly and assembly, you will be able to carry out a quick and high-quality repair of the unit. The first stage is disassembly and troubleshooting, the second stage is the separation of the RK from the checkpoint and the third stage is the repair itself.
It is important to remember that the following components are subject to repair or replacement:
Oil seals. They must be changed when disassembling the handout, regardless of whether they are worn out or not;
Gears. These parts cannot be repaired, therefore, if they are out of order, be sure to replace the gears. Otherwise, the unit may jam;
Forks and Spitz These components are also best replaced if you find wear or tear on them.
Bearings. If you find that the bearings are chipped, cracked or broken, be sure to replace the deformed part.
Protective case. This part of the device must also be safe and sound, without cracks or gaps.

Disassembly of the transfer case should be carried out in the following order:
Place the car in the inspection pit and provide access to the necessary parts;
The dismantling process can only be started when the gearbox and junction box levers are in neutral;
Drain the oil completely from the box;
Unscrew all bolts and nuts, remove the cover and trim of the part, and also disconnect the wires that fit the device.
After completing these steps, you can safely detect problems and repair the UAZ distributor.
After the transfer case of the UAZ has been fully investigated and a high-quality repair has been carried out, the unit must be installed back. Assembly takes place in the same way as disassembly, only in reverse order. The mechanism is installed in place, all bolts and nuts are carefully tightened, the fasteners are checked, after which oil is poured to a certain level. Remember that the oil must be filled with a new one. As soon as all the procedures have been done, check the correct functioning of the unit. The check of the UAZ “Patriot” distributor takes place in the second mode under load, in other cases the check can be carried out without load.
