The strap on my old watch was worn out and I decided to make a new one. Master class on making a watch strap.

We need: 1. Vegetable tanned leather 2.3 mm; 2. Pork skin; 3. Nairite glue; 4. Waxed thread; 5. Paint; 6. Fittings from the old strap.

Tools: 1. Knife; 2. Seam punch; 3. Tortsbil; 4. Stamp for embossing.

We take the ears and buckle from the donor. We start by making a piece. The old strap was 240 mm long, I am making a new one 250 mm (10 mm for the buckle fold). The ears will be attached to separate elements, which we make along the strap width of 22 mm.

We cut out our elements from vegetable-tanned leather: a strap, 2 fasteners for the ears, and a strip from which we will make a belt loop.

We cut a groove for the seam with a cutter.

We moisten the workpieces with water and hammer the details with a stamp for the background. Here's what happens:

The first step is to assemble the lug mountings and insert them into the watch.

We sew the belt itself along the contour, use a waxed thread, sew with a saddle stitch.

We install the buckle by punching a hole 8-9 mm from the edge of the belt, from the side where the buckle will be, turn the leather and stitch it. We can immediately supply a belt loop, we make the length so that it covers 2 belts.

We sew the watch to the strap, having previously evenly marked the holes with an awl.

The strap is ready. It remains only to punch holes for the buckle with a 2 mm punch.

The rod must be removed (set) carefully, as it can jump out, due to the fact that it is spring-loaded in the lock. As a result, it can not only fly away to where you will not find it, but also crumble into its constituent parts.

The process of shortening the strap involves removing one or more links from the metal bracelet of the watch. In this case, initially, as well as during adjustment, one of the pins is removed from the lock. As a result, the strap "opens", now you can work with it.

Next, you need to pay attention to those links that can be dismantled. You can only dismantle those parts of the strap where the arrow is. Where there is no arrow, these links are not separable from each other. So, in our case, we will give two possible options for connecting the strap, which we have already mentioned. In the first case, the belt is connected with rods, in the second, with the help of plates. Like rods.

As for the straps on the rod, it was not always smooth with them. The best option was to use a paper clip. A small rod, about 5-7 mm, was bitten off from it with pliers and inserted into the hole. The rigidity of such a homemade tool was quite enough to knock out the strap rod to the end, while not damaging the ends of the strap. The blows on the protruding piece of the paper clip were made with the plastic handle of a screwdriver, that is, not very hard and not with a metal object.

Another option for adjusting the strap, or rather not even the watch strap itself, but changing the diameter under the arm is carried out due to the "sliding" lock. This lock can be moved along one of the watch straps, thereby adjusting the diameter of the wrist.

This is the simplest option when no special tool is required for adjustment, except for a flat-blade screwdriver. The locking tab on the strap is pushed to the side and then, after adjustment, is lowered down again.

This is by far the easiest strap length adjustment option you will encounter on a watch.
At the same time, note that using this technology, manufacturers have combined a stylish leather strap with the convenience of using it as a metal one. When the belt is fastened in one motion, without the need to "catch" the holes and waste time and nerves.

As a result, having released one of the links on the watch strap, we simply put it back together. Due to the operations performed to dismantle the link, the strap becomes shorter by this link. If removing one link from the strap does not help, then the other links where there is an arrow can be removed in the same way. If you need to remove multiple links, try to remove links on symmetrical sections of the strap, on one side of the lock and on the other.

How to fit the bracelet correctly?

You should be aware that for the correct installation of the bracelet, you must adhere to some rules.

1. When installing a new bracelet (strap), make sure that the width of the bracelet matches the distance intended for the bracelet. If the bracelet is narrower, then there is a possibility of the ear spontaneously falling out.
