Two years ago, we decided to use maternity capital to improve our modest living conditions. We have allocated a smaller room for the children's room - only 10 square meters.
The room was in poor condition, there was not much money, and we decided to do the repairs ourselves.

We already had experience. There was also a friend - a professional plasterer. She undertook to advise us on new materials and help with the most difficult moments of the repair. For which many thanks to her.
The old wooden window was replaced with a plastic one. We have completely entrusted this part to professionals.

After removing the wallpaper and ceiling tiles, the whole picture was revealed.
I panicked a little: the plaster, three centimeters thick, lagged behind the bricks, wide and deep rusts opened up on the ceiling, the whitewash bubbled and cracked.
And I had a little helper who was very active.

I took a brush, warm water and a spatula. She put on gloves and began to wet the surface of the ceiling. When the coating got wet, I cleaned everything off with a spatula. Down to the slabs.
Subsequently, the slabs were impregnated with a reinforcing impregnation, the seams were sealed with plaster, and a reinforcing tape was glued to it. We pasted glass fiber wallpaper and covered everything with putty. The dried putty was wiped with special sponges (I had never seen them before, but you can appreciate the effect in the photo - the coating is perfectly even and shines even before painting).

It's easier with walls in the sense that you don't have to stand with your hands up all the time.
It turned out to be more difficult that it was not rational and expensive to remove a thick layer of plaster to the brick. Although on two walls I still had to do it. Somewhere with a hammer, somewhere just breaking off pieces with your hands.

Where the plaster was left, the already plastered walls collapsed several times. It was a shame and a pity for the expended energy. But in order to completely remove the plaster, it would take so much more effort and investment that we abandoned this idea. Under the layers, wires were found that were not marked on the plans and it was not clear where they were going.
We have coped with this task as well.

In this frame, you can see that we have moved the switch to the wall of the niche, so that now the children can turn on and off the light themselves, and the angle has become perfectly even. This corner was made with new plaster - quick-drying and very easy to work with.
Then I called Olga for help.

The doors were installed by a specialist. I closed the cracks myself. Construction tape helps to protect the door covering, but I didn't have the confidence to move the trowel straight, I was still worried about damaging the film. A rubber spatula helps, but I couldn't get a perfectly flat surface. Then I smoothed it out a little with the same sponge as the ceiling, and it got better.

There were problems with the putty.Once it rained, the putty dried longer than usual, and when I tried to apply the finishing layer, I got the following effect:

Another time I found on the floor everything that I had applied to the wall the day before. We tried to find out the reason for a long time. We primed the walls, allowed them to dry again ... and again picked up layers of putty from the floor. Then they compared the batch numbers on the bags and realized that one bag was different. They removed it, opened a new one - everything went perfectly.
The next step was the removal of the covering from the wooden floor, its strengthening and hardboard flooring. This was done by my husband, my little assistant and I were resting at the dacha.
When everything was ready, we chose linoleum, wallpaper and wall color.
It is a pleasure to glue non-woven wallpaper for painting. Even if the walls are not perfectly flat and in some places the difference in height is up to 3 centimeters, this is not a problem. We smeared the walls with glue and glued the stripes. When they dried, they applied two colors of paint. Rolls for wallpaper and ceiling were different - for textured wallpaper, the pile is longer. The paint was diluted according to the instructions. Fitted perfectly, the color has not changed in two years.
Moreover, green is a budget Rainbow, and yellow is an expensive Dulux. In fairness: yellow paint is more convenient to work with. Fits perfectly and gives a silky finish. Matte green, slightly rough.

Heating pipes and radiators were painted by Dulux for radiators. The tinting was done in the store - the perfect match for the paint for the walls and the radiator. Dries very quickly. In the photo, the light falls so that the battery is bright, in real life it merges with the wall. Although it doesn't matter now - the furniture covers everything.

A little later, we made a mezzanine, ordering a cut and edging of parts.
In general, the devil is not as terrible as I drew myself. I was able to do this with both a modest budget and with a three-year-old child.
Thank you very much for your disinterested help to Olga and my sister, who gave me yellow and terracotta paints (I still carry around with the second can like a cat with a fish bubble, and in no way dare to make myself a wall in the Moroccan style).

Adhesive for vinyl and ceiling wallpaper 150 per pack * 2 pcs.

And new brushes. spatulas, “wing” for wallpapering, gloves, masking tape, mesh for seams - add 1000.

She took linoleum at a discount, but Tarkett. But I don't know the prices for hardboard at all.
