It is advisable to divide the repair and replacement of plumbing equipment into two stages: the replacement of communications (pipes) is carried out after cleaning the premises, and the replacement of plumbing fixtures - at the end of the finishing work. Replacing the sewerage wiring begins with the replacement of the riser. Then, metal wedges or two powerful flat screwdrivers are inserted into the incisions and, alternately tapping on them with a 400 g sledgehammer or hammer, they are driven until the riser breaks. You can’t beat, kilograms of sharp cast-iron fragments can collapse on your head.

Next, the upper remainder of the riser is securely fixed, and the lower one, necessarily together, is swayed until its fastening in the cross coupling loosens and it comes out of it. In the same way, the top of the old riser is removed (here you need to be especially careful) and the cross.

A new riser is desirable from anti-noise (sound-absorbing) plastic, PVC or (better, but more expensive) propylene. Anti-noise sewer pipes are white, with longitudinal green and red stripes. There are many fakes on the market, so you need to buy certified ones, indicating the service life and degree of noise suppression; it is determined by the calculation for this room.

A riser made of ordinary PVC is attached to the wall with sound-absorbing, with rubber gaskets, clamps, and the gap between it and the ceiling is filled with vibration-absorbing material. Foaming is not good, mounting foam transmits sound well.

Sewer wiring is done, observing slopes of at least 3 cm / m and not more than 15 cm / m; if the slope is too large, the water will roll down the pipe, flowing around the pollution. If a hidden sewer wiring is provided, the channels in the walls for it are ditched during the repair of the base floor. To do this, you need a hammer drill of at least 1.3 kW with a concrete chisel of 60-80 mm, and for edge cuts - a grinder of the same power with a stone circle of 200 mm.

The width of the channel should also provide for the installation of water pipes in it. The golden rule when installing hidden utilities is that all bends are only vertical, no bends with kinks in the walls! The main channel is led above the floor, taking into account the thickness of the finishing coating.

When installing sewer wiring, regular gaskets are coated with a thin layer of silicone sealant before installation. It is the gaskets that the sealant does not squeeze through during installation: its “sausage” inside will become a source of blockages. The gasket and the mounting surface of the coupling under it must be completely dry when sealing.

The sewer work is completed by the installation of a toilet bowl, the assembly of a sanitary cabinet frame from a U- or C-metal profile and its sheathing with moisture-resistant (green) drywall (GVL) on nickel-plated self-tapping screws. The final finishing of the sanitary cabinet is carried out along with the walls.

Note: the choice of new plumbing in the apartment is made before the repair, in order to know in advance to what height to lead the vertical channels, but its attachment to the walls is carried out through the finish in the end. Also, the bath screen is mounted on the finish. In terms of costs, durability and, especially, hygiene, the best option, in addition to the hanging toilet bowl, is a semi-tulip sink and an acrylic bathtub; in a busy family, a double washbasin should be considered. Wall-mounted toilets are attached to a special mounting frame (Fig. 8.101), which is mounted to the draft wall. The outlet of the toilet bowl is connected to a bell, which should come out of the wall.
