Hello everyone. Here is another update of my “Crazy Hands” section. And as usual, we will do everything with our own hands and in the field.

I am sure that many motorists have an idea of ​​​​what wiper blades are (in common people - wipers), and that they have plastic plugs on the sides that fix the rubber band that cleans the windshield from water, snow and dirt. It is this plug that we will be repairing today, or rather, fixing the rubber band, because. the plug got lost somewhere along the way.

I immediately apologize for the quality, I had to take pictures with a tablet with a lousy camera.

The situation was like this, we went out of town, lost a plug along the way, there was not a single auto shop in the area. There was nothing to do, I had to repair it from improvised means so that the windshield would not be scratched in the rain.

As you can see from the photo, there is no plug at the end of the wiper blade (wiper), because of which the rubber band constantly runs away, and the “ribs” that should hold it are moving apart and scratching the windshield, which can lead to unpleasant scratches.

The structure of the frameless wiper blade is extremely simple, and therefore its repair does not take much time. For repairs we need:
1. Stationery or construction knife;
2. Plastic tie-clamp (Zipties);
3. Self-confidence.

To begin with, I determined the place where the collar will pass in order to fix the elastic band tightly with it. If you look closely at the photo, you can see that the “ribs” have symmetrical recesses. That's it, neither their level, and we will make a through hole in the rubber band of the janitor for a tight fixation of the clamp.

Making a hole is extremely inconvenient, because. rubber band is tight. Therefore, we do everything very carefully, and it is desirable that the hole is not very wide. The wider it is, the easier it is to tear the elastic band by passing a tie through it.

Then, you need to thread the tie through the hole. Pay attention to the fact that the coupler lock on the installed wiper is closer to the hood than to the glass. Otherwise, it may interfere with the snug fit of the wiper to the windshield and scratch it.

Pay special attention to how the screed goes. The rubber band of the wiper blade has, as it were, “gills”. It was precisely between them that I made a hole in order to preserve the cleaning properties of the janitor. Otherwise, the fit of the rubber to the glass would not be tight, and the repair of the wiper blade would only give a visual effect.

Have you sold it? Wonderful. Now we carefully begin to tighten, not forgetting to correct the tie lock. It is necessary to correct very delicately so as not to irritate the hole in the elastic band.

After tightening, we saw off the dangling end with the same clerical knife.

Well, actually, here's how I ended up with it. In my opinion, it turned out not bad. Yes, and by car, after installation it is not noticeable, unless of course you know and do not look closely.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of what the repaired wiper blade looks like on the car. But I will say one thing, that we drove back in the rain normally. The brush retained its original function and did not scratch the glass.

I will not say that the repair of the wiper blade, which I described in this post, is ideal, but, as I wrote above, the repair was carried out in the field using improvised means. What I found, I screwed)))

Time spent at most 10 minutes.I strongly recommend that you still use this method only in emergency situations and replace the wiper brush as soon as possible. Fortunately, the prices for them are not very high, and you can spend money only on one, and not on a set. Don't save money on your own safety.

Operating a machine in poor visibility conditions is something that vehicle drivers face all the time. Depending on weather conditions (snow, rain, etc.), the view of the space in front of the windshield of the car can deteriorate significantly, which contributes to the creation of an emergency on the road. Having discovered that when the wipers work, there are stains on the windshield of the car, it is necessary to check their condition and determine the causes of poor-quality glass cleaning.

Quite often, the cause of stains on the windshield of a car is:

  • an oily windshield that even the best windshield wipers cannot clean;
  • loose fit of elastic brushes to the windshield;
  • malfunctions of the metal parts of the wiper drive;
  • wear of the cleaning edge of the elastic element of the brushes.

The reasons that caused the poor-quality work of the wipers may be due to:

  • prolonged contact of fixed brushes with the windshield of the car (deformation of elastic parts) under the influence of direct sunlight or in severe frost;
  • the ingress of dirt into the grooves of the elastic band of the wipers;
  • water getting into the grooves of the brush with its subsequent freezing;
  • change in the chemical structure of elastic parts under the influence of ultraviolet radiation (direct sunlight);
  • wear of the working edge of the elastic band;
  • the appearance of traces of corrosion on the blades of the tape.

Noticing that the brushes began to clean the windshield of the car poorly, motorists, as a rule, try to replace them with new ones. However, this is not always justified, since in some cases it is not difficult to restore the efficiency of the wipers on a car. For example, if during the operation of the machine it was discovered that the working edge of the brushes was badly worn out, then its shape can be restored using sandpaper.

  1. They take a sheet of non-bending material (multilayer plywood, a fairly thick sheet of metal, etc.).
  2. Glue a strip of fine-grained sandpaper on it.
  3. By running the cleaning blade of the wiper over the sandpaper, they restore the shape of the tape, giving the working edge a rectangular shape.

If the elastic band of the wiper has hardened, then gasoline can be used to restore it. After dipping the tape in gasoline, it is then washed in warm water and a thin layer of silicone grease is applied to the work surface. These procedures will restore the elasticity of the tape and make it softer.

The working surface of the janitor is covered with an oily film, then its properties can be restored (degreased), for example, using white spirit. White spirit will easily remove grease and other contaminants from the surface of the brush. After this procedure, it is desirable to apply a thin layer of silicone grease to the working surface of the wiper belt. Thus, its performance will be restored. Car wipers, like other components of the car, require regular maintenance. In order to extend the "life" of the wipers on the car, experts recommend:

  • regularly clean the windshield of the car and the working surfaces of the wipers from dust, dirt and grease, and in the winter season from snow and ice;
  • remove the wipers if the car is left outside for a long time;
  • when leaving the car in the garage, raise the wipers so that the elastic surfaces do not come into contact with the windshield (the distance to the windshield must be at least 5 mm);

It is extremely important in the winter season to turn on the windshield wiper only after the ice on the windshield of the car has melted.

Windshield wipers or wipers perform an important function on a car. When they fail, any driver begins to feel uncomfortable, especially if he is on the road.

The essence of how to repair wipers on a VAZ 2110 is to fix the levers or deformed wiper rods. Often the reason lies in the contamination of parts.
If it is impossible to repair the wipers, then they must be completely replaced.Often the cause of a breakdown can be a gearmotor, and if you replace the gears in it, clean the contacts of the collector or limit switch, everything will work.
If it is not possible to repair the gearmotor, it will have to be replaced with a new one.

All work must be done in order and nothing should be missed:

  • remove the wiper (on the VAZ 2110 it is completely removed);
  • unscrew the nut that fixes the leash;
  • take off the leash.

We go further and continue repairing the wipers of the VAZ 2110:

  • the turn of the gearmotor has come (it is sometimes wrapped in a thin leather film that must be removed);
  • we unscrew the three bolts of the gear motor, marked with arrows in the upper photo;
  • remove the black plastic cover by unscrewing two screws for this;
  • after removing the cover, unscrew the following screws.

We continue and by the way, it is also possible to repair wipers on the VAZ 2107:

  • take out the plate with 3 contacts located on it;
  • then remove the brown gasket;
  • we see the design of gears and rollers;
  • remove the largest gear together with the roller, revealing a plastic washer under it;
  • we remove two small gears, which must be noted before removal (this is done in order not to confuse their original location, because they do not have the same inclination of the teeth).

  • we disconnect the gearbox from the electric motor, unscrewing for this two screws located oppositely;
  • remove the anchor from the metal case of the electric motor;
  • at this stage, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned of dirt and old grease (we use a rag soaked in acetone).

Cleaning the wipers of the VAZ 2107, which can also be repaired according to this scheme, implies attentiveness and a detailed inspection:

  • we press with our fingers on the three brushes located in special holders (they must move freely, and if they go down tightly, then there are defects or cracks and they must be replaced completely);
  • we check three springs, which should be even, without stretching and breaking.

We continue to repair the wipers of the VAZ 2107 or 2110 by inspecting the collector.
For this:

  • inspect it for damage, scratches or dirt;
  • in case of severe pollution, it is recommended to walk with a fine sandpaper (if this does not give any results or it will already be clear that the collector is very worn out, it will be necessary to replace the entire armature or the entire gearmotor as a whole);
  • we inspect the teeth of the gears of the gearbox and replace them if coarse scratches or other defects are found;
  • if defects are found on the threads of the rollers of levers or brushes, then it is necessary to replace the rods in a complete set;
  • we inspect the limit switch plate and, if necessary, draw a sandpaper over it;
  • we inspect the fastening of the leash, or rather its black rubberized cushions (in case they have lost their elasticity or burst, you need to replace them with new ones - the replacement is carried out by removing the internal steel spacer sleeve);

On the VAZ 2109, the repair of the wipers also takes place, that is, they start with a gear motor.
So let's continue:

  • we assemble the wiper, having previously well lubricated all the parts (especially you should pay attention to the gross worm of the anchor and gears - use Litol-24 grease, and the gears are marked, put them exactly in place);
  • set the anchor by tying the brushes with wire to the contacts (this stage of work is carried out in order not to twist their brushes and therefore they must be folded);
  • we mount the anchor in the gearbox housing over carefully;
  • we install the motor housing on the gearbox, holding the armature shaft;
  • we untie or bite off the wire holding the brushes and knock on the gearmotor with a wooden hammer in order to center the bearings;
  • we install the leash back on the axis, which must necessarily stand in a horizontal position and in proportion to the central thrust.

Attention: Before repairing the gearmotor, read the specifications for the normal operation of this part.

  • the shaft speed, if the voltage is supplied at 14 V, is low - thirty or forty;
  • the speed of rotation of the shaft of a larger value is seventy;
  • current consumed at the first speed - 3.5 A;
  • at the second speed - 5 A.

On the VAZ 2106, the repair of wipers is carried out a little differently. Although the whole process is similar to the above instructions, there is still a difference. But consider a way to change the old wiper rod to a new one.

To begin with, we arm ourselves with a screwdriver and begin the process:

  • in VAZ 2106, the wiper drive rods are connected not only to each other, but also to the cranks with hinges;
  • remove the wiper and gearmotor;
  • we remove the stopper of the hinge of the thrust from the groove of the axis of the crank;
  • take it off the axle.

  • we remove the thrust from the axis;
  • disassemble the hinges of the wiper rod;
  • we assemble the new thrust in the reverse order with the same drive;
  • We install the gearmotor on the bracket carefully, paying attention to the condition of the rubber bushings.

Attention: When working, you need to use a screwdriver with a wide blade. It will be more convenient for her to remove and install the bushings.

Repair of wipers vaz 2106 continues. Now let's look at how to clean the collector and change the gears.
We carry out the following operations:

  • remove the wipers, as mentioned above;
  • unscrew the fasteners for fixing the leash;
  • remove it from the gear motor shaft.

We continue:

  • unscrew the gearbox mounting bolts (there should be three of them);
  • remove the motor reducer;
  • on it we see a protective film that should be removed;
  • remove the plastic cover by unscrewing the two fastening screws;
