If the fuel mixture flows out in a thin stream, then you should pay attention to the carburetor. To start the adjustment, it is necessary to fully tighten the screws H and L and loosen them by 1 turn each. After we start the braid and let it warm up for 10 minutes to adjust the power system in operating mode. After warming up the internal combustion engine, press the gas supply button all the way (12,000 rpm). We restore the idle mode by unscrewing the screw LA. As soon as the trimmer head begins to rotate, it is necessary to tighten the screw until it stops.

One of the frequent malfunctions of the lawn mower is the incorrect operation of the internal combustion engine, namely, a drop in power with an increase in speed (the scythe stalls).

The reason for this work is the clogging of the exhaust system with particles of burnt oil. Often, manufacturers make mufflers prefabricated and cleaning is quite simple. If the design of the spark arrester is non-separable, then it must be placed in water with detergents, and then dried with a conventional or industrial hair dryer. Frequent clogging of the exhaust system indicates non-compliance with the proportions of oil and gasoline.

A trimmer, be it gas or electric, is the only solution for cutting grass in hard-to-reach areas that a wheeled lawn mower can't handle. As a cutting tool in trimmers, metal knives or a special fishing line are used, which are tucked into the trimmer spool. But, unfortunately, trimmer heads become unusable over time during operation. This type of head is present in the configuration of most gas mowers and electric trimmers, such as Stihl (Calm), Patriot (Patriot), Champion (Champion), Bosch (Bosch), Huter (Huter) and others. The device of the mowing head is quite simple. It includes the following details:

• mowing head base;
• button for semi-automatic cord feed;
• bobbin (reel) into which the fishing line is refueled;
• spring;
• eyes - through them the fishing line comes out;

All these nozzles do not allow you to change the length of the fishing line in semi-automatic mode (after pressing the button). If the cord breaks, you have to stop the mower and change it manually.

Users of electric trimmers and lawn mowers often face a problem with a semi-automatic mowing head. Coil failures can be as follows:

• the line does not lengthen automatically;
• cord spontaneously comes out of the coil.

If the fishing line does not lengthen when the trimmer coil button hits the ground lightly, then the reasons for this may be as follows.

Option 1 - there was a bite, i.e. clamping the cord between the turns. This problem usually occurs if the user wound the line on the spool unevenly, with the turns crossing, or wound it with insufficient tension. In the latter case, when the mowing head rotates at high speeds, under the influence of centrifugal force, the cord begins to tighten, as a result of which interturn clamping of the fishing line is possible. To fix the problem, you will have to disassemble the coil on the trimmer and rewind the cord correctly, that is, with even turns with good tension.

Option 2 - too short ends protrude from the head. The fishing line may not come out when it hits the ground if its ends sticking out of the head are not long enough (short). In this case, the centrifugal force is not enough to stretch the line. Therefore, it is required to stop the unit (turn off the engine or disconnect the electric trimmer from the mains) and pull out the fishing line manually, after pressing the button.

Option 3 - the line is soldered inside the mowing head. This causes the coil to stop and not spin when the button is pressed. Basically, this happens for several reasons: poor quality of the cord, overheating of the coil during prolonged operation of the unit, impact of the fishing line on hard objects.

1. In the first case, third-party cords can be made from low-quality and fusible materials that cannot withstand mechanical and thermal stress. Therefore, preference should be given to “branded” fishing lines.
2. But, if you nevertheless purchased a fishing line of unknown quality, and it often gets soldered during operation, then you can follow the example of some users who, after filling the cord into the spool, moisten it either silicone grease (from a can) or mineral oil. This procedure greatly reduces the likelihood of soldering between coils of fishing line.
3. Also, the fishing line can be soldered if, during mowing, it hits a hard object (stone, fence, dry branch, etc.). As a result of this, it stretches a little and is pulled back into the head at high speed. From friction, the cord heats up, and its turns stick together. The only thing that can be done to eliminate this malfunction is to open the trimmer coil and rewind the line.

There are situations when the trimmer user notices very fast line consumption. However, he never hit the button on the ground to lengthen the fishing line. The reason that the fishing line spontaneously lengthens, being cut off by a special knife on the casing of the device, can be no spring in the mowing head. Often novice users of mowers, when trying to charge the line into the reel, forget to install the pressure spring in the head, or completely lose it when the cover is opened, and in the future they are not even aware of its existence.

Also, the fishing line can be extended without using a button if the spring is weakened. If the check of the spring confirmed this fact, then several washers must be placed under it in order to strengthen its clamping properties.

Trimmer owners, mostly beginners, are confused, bordering on panic, when it becomes necessary to change the cutting tool or line in the reel. Very often, when trying to unscrew the mowing head, users simply render it unusable, not suspecting that it is unscrewed in the opposite direction.. Before threading the line into the spool, turn off the engine of the brushcutter or turn off the power to the electric trimmer to avoid injury that can result from accidentally starting the rotation of the cutting tool.

Unscrew the nozzle attached to gearbox shaft. To do this, the shaft must be fixed by aligning the holes on the washer and on the axle, and inserting a metal rod or screwdriver into them.

Unscrew the nozzle. You should know that the thread on the shaft is left-handed. Therefore, turn the trimmer coil to the right, that is, clockwise.

Disassemble the mowing head. Most often, the head cover is attached on clamps. To remove it, you will need to drown these latches into the body, squeezing the edges of the cover. If your trimmer has a semi-automatic mowing head that has a button on the bottom, then disassembling the nozzle must be done carefully, since you can lose the spring, which sometimes flies out when the cover is removed.

Cut off the required amount of fishing line. Usually its length is 5 meters. Use a cord of the same diameter as specified in the instructions for the tool. It is not recommended to exceed the maximum diameter of the fishing line, as this will lead to an increased load on the engine and higher gas mileage.

Find the middle of the piece of cord by folding it in half. You will have a loop.

Slotted inside the coil special grooves (may have holes). Insert a loop of fishing line into this groove.

Wind the line onto the spool by turning it counterclockwise. You need to fill the cord as evenly as possible, the turns should lie down without overlap and with good tension. When the winding is completed, leave the free ends of the fishing line about 20 cm long and fix them in the grooves located on the sides of the reel.

Assemble the mowing head. Before you finally assemble the nozzle, do not forget insert spring and washer (if it exists). Install the spool into the body, and thread the ends of the cord through the holes or eyes.

Put on the cover and fix it with latches.

Screw the nozzle back onto the gearbox shaft, also fixing it with a screwdriver. You will need to twist the trimmer coil to the left (counterclockwise).

There are a large number of trimmer heads (not automatic) on sale, which have a low price and good quality. But sometimes situations arise, for example, in the country, when the trim coil is broken and its repair is impossible, the store is far away, but it is necessary to mow. In this case, you can quickly, literally in a few minutes, make a simple trimmer nozzle for fixing fishing line from ordinary plywood 10-12 mm thick.

1. Take a piece of plywood or textolite and draw a circle on it with a diameter of about 14 cm.
2. Cut out the disc with a jigsaw or hacksaw.
3. Drill a hole in the center of the disc that matches the diameter of the gearbox shaft. Do not forget to put a washer on it before installing the disk on the shaft.
4. Small corners can be screwed along the edges of the disk or 1-2 holes can be made on opposite sides. They will serve to fill them with fishing line.
5. To fix the fishing line, several screws can be screwed into the plywood.

Such a homemade mowing nozzle is fixed on the shaft with a nut. It will not work to tighten or unscrew the nut without fixing the shaft. To replace the cord, it will be enough to release the screws, insert a piece of fishing line of the required length and press it again.

In previous articles, readers probably remember how we proposed to upgrade the trimmer coil by reinforcing the holes for the line output, but, as practice has shown, after a month or two, the coil itself either wears out or cracks and scatters (familiar?)

And then campaigns for this spare part begin in different bazaars - shops, and even if you are lucky to find an option suitable for your trimmer, it is not a fact that the new coil will last longer than the old one, while its price will be about half the cost of the trimmer itself ... (familiar?)

After going through all these dances, the idea began to ripen in my head to buy a good big coil from an adult “thoroughbred” trimmer (motor scythes) and fix it on the axis of my trimmer through a home-made adapter (such coils are simply screwed onto the threads on the axles of their trimmers ...).

But when choosing such a coil, I noticed in time that they all have left-hand threads, and my trimmer turns clockwise, in short, the idea failed ...

Meanwhile, the next creative attempts were ripening -

I remembered that I once saw Bosch's small trimer with a reel for one line tendril

and on the remnants of the old coil conducted a small experiment -

I mowed with such a device for several minutes, it was squinting normally, but the fishing line was frayed at the base (in the hole in the corner), and the corner itself kept “picking” the ground ...

It was here that the confusion gave out an engineering idea, and after half an hour from the garage I was already carrying this creation for testing -

In a nutshell - it is screwed with screws to the base of the old reel, two nuts are welded to the pipe with holes - one for the fishing line, the other is a counterweight, the nut for the fishing line is machined with a smooth chamfer (in other words - a hole for the fishing line in the form of a smooth funnel)

I charged first with such pieces of fishing line -

Then I went even further, bought a 3mm fishing line for adult motos (faceted), you can’t tie knots on it, so I did this - we make holes in the tip with an awl and insert a small shoe stud -

After a month of testing, I can proudly say the following - I have not seen the best coil for a trimmer.

Firstly, it is simply not killed, with a “coil” you can crawl along the ground without any problems, any (random) stones do not care, (only sparks fly), and secondly, 500 Chinese watts with such a fishing line mow any grass.

Because of its thickness, the fishing line takes longer to nurse, I made such segments in advance, then I take a few pieces and go to mow, on average 3-4 pieces are enough for an hour of work.

In the case when the brushes and the collector are in perfect order, you should proceed to the “ringing” of the motor winding. In order to eliminate the possibility of breakdown in both circuits, it is necessary to alternately carry out

checking the stator and rotor of the motor. To perform this operation, you must:

• Remove the motor from the electric scythe.
• Turn on the multimeter in the resistance measurement mode and check all the collector plates for an open. When checking, there should also be no significant deviations in the readings of the diagnostic tool.
• Check for breakdown of the rotor winding to ground. For this purpose, one probe of the multimeter should be connected to the “mass” of the rotor, and the other to any collector plate. The multimeter must be set to measure resistance greater than 1 MΩ. The resistance of a serviceable motor between the winding and the “ground” must be very large.
• Measure the stator winding resistance. If there is no resistance, then in this case it can be stated that it is malfunctioning.
• If the stator wiring is in perfect order, then a possible breakdown of it on the housing is checked, in the same way as when diagnosing the stator.

When checking in this way, it is possible in 90% of cases to establish the cause of a malfunction of the electric motor. It will not work in this way to check for an interturn short circuit, which can manifest itself only during engine operation, but you can diagnose such a malfunction

by indirect signs, which are manifested in a decrease in the power of the electric motor and its overheating. If the electric motor is equipped with a thermal relay, then such an electric scythe, with an interturn circuit, will work for a short time, after which the trimmer will automatically turn off. In some cases, the thermal relay can cause a malfunction of the trimmer motor, therefore, in the test complex

events, the “ringing” of the thermal relay must be turned on using a multimeter or tester.

It is very simple to do this: in good condition on a cold engine, the thermal relay passes an electric current, in

in a faulty state, the electrical circuit will be open.

Electric braid performance problems associated with broken wires are easily eliminated by soldering the contacts, but if the motor is “burned out”, then you will need to perform a complex rewinding process, which can

be performed only by a qualified person. In many cases, it is much easier and cheaper to purchase a new engine and install it in place of the burnt out one. This work can be done independently.
