The inconvenience of the classic seats from AvtoVAZ is explained very simply - their ridiculous shape. Developed back in the 1970s, they do not have the slightest bit of modern car seats. No lumbar support, no popliteal bolster ... There is only one way out: do it all yourself!

The very first race showed that sitting on plywood, to put it mildly, is uncomfortable and you need to add softness. Soundproofing became a layer between the wooden base of our "anatomical" chair and the driver. Please note: we are not talking about modern materials for noise insulation with foil and other attributes, but about the simplest "noise" of the USSR times.

For those wishing to make the cladding in the same style with other interior elements, it is necessary to make a new cladding base. The base material can be the same fiberboard or plywood. It is even better to use less hygroscopic material, such as plastic or plexiglass, they will last longer and will not deform over time.

The procedure for making door trim:

  1. The trim is removed from the door.
  2. With the help of a knife, the factory imitation leather is separated from the base of the casing and removed.
  3. The fiberboard base is placed on a new sheet of material, pressed tightly and the contour of the factory base is outlined, taking into account the holes for clips, bolts and window lifter handles.

The fabricated base can be covered with any suitable material. It can be an automobile carpet, leatherette, alcantara. To create a soft sheathing, a foam rubber sheet, 5–7 mm thick, is first glued onto the base.

The floor covering is a textile carpet. It is most susceptible to wear and tear from the feet of passengers and transported goods. It can be made from any suitable material: Carpet, carpet, linoleum.

  1. Removable seats, plastic door sills and pillars, heating system framing, seat belt buckles.
  2. The factory floor trim is removed.
  3. The sheathing, cut to the factory shape, is spread on the floor and carefully leveled.

If you have little free time, the work of applying sound insulation can be broken down into stages. For example, disassemble the door, apply sound insulation and put it back together. On the next free day, you can make the next door, etc.

If you do the soundproofing yourself, without outside help, you can calmly handle it in 5 days. We are talking about complete soundproofing of a domestically produced car in a hatchback body, taking into account the soundproofing of the luggage compartment, complete disassembly of the passenger compartment and removal of the instrument panel.

Tools required for noise insulation work:

  • a set of tools for disassembling the car interior;
  • tool for removing trim clips;
  • knife;
  • scissors;
  • roller for rolling vibration isolation;
  • construction hair dryer for heating the bituminous layer of vibration isolation;
  • gloves for hand protection.

Noise insulation of a car is carried out using two types of materials: vibration-absorbing and sound-absorbing. The choice of material on the market is huge - different thicknesses, absorption characteristics, different manufacturers. The cost is also very different, for any budget, which material to choose is up to you. Naturally, expensive materials are more technological and have an advantage over cheap ones, and the result from their use will be better.

Vibration and sound absorbing materials most popular on the market today

It is quite rare to remove the front seats on the VAZ 2106, and in most cases this is due to their breakdown. The most common of these is when the back is not fixed in an upright position. There are also cases with sleds, when the chairs begin to move tightly on them. In general, in this case, it is better to remove the seat and figure out what is the cause of the breakdown. For this procedure you will need:

  1. 8 head with extension
  2. Ratchet handle or crank
  3. Open-end wrench 13

The chairs are fixed with 4 bolts, two of which are in the front and the other two are in the back! First, we move the chair all the way forward, thereby gaining access to the rear mounting bolts:

Now you can safely unscrew the two bolts, as shown in the photo below:

After the rear part is free, you can proceed to the front one, having previously moved the seat all the way back. One bolt there is unscrewed in the same way as the back, but the other is slightly different. There you will need to use a 13 key and unscrew the nut from below, as clearly shown in the photo:

After that, you can remove the front seat of the VAZ 2106 for further repair or replacement.

If replacement is necessary, then we buy new chairs at a price of 3500 each and install everything in the reverse order. The whole job shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes.

3. Move the guide along the outer slide to the front of the seat.

4. Using pliers, remove from the hole in the rod the lock of the screw travel, which adjusts the inclination of the seat back.

5. Holding the rod, unscrew the screw from it.

6. Socket wrench by 8 mm we unscrew the bolt of the rear fastening of the outer sled.

7. Move the guide along the slide to the rear of the seat.

8. Holding the rod and guide by hand, with a socket wrench by 8 mm we unscrew the bolt of the front fastening of the sled.

9. Remove the outer slide together with the guide by pulling the spring hook out of the hole in the slide.

10. Socket wrench by 8 mm we unscrew the two bolts securing the inner slide and remove them together with the guide.

1. We clean it from dirt and apply grease to the rubbing parts.

2. Installation of the front seat adjustment mechanisms is carried out in the reverse order.

A year has passed since the seats from the Ford-Scorpio were installed on the VAZ 2106. The new seats fit perfectly into the interior in terms of dimensions, and we got copies from the new model with servos and heating was a nice bonus, but the usual ones are also fine. So, what was the tuning of the VAZ 2106 seats?

Immediately, we note that the Ford seats removed the unpleasant sensation that often arises in the lumbar region for drivers, and also saved them from the problem of the constantly failing adjustment mechanism, in general, they received only advantages from the installation. For installation, we needed a drill, 4 brackets made of steel strip (thickness - 3-5mm).

We removed the standard seats and installed on the front legs of the new Ford brackets with M8x25 bolts, two brackets for each seat (see Fig. 1). Next, we drill holes in the floor of the car (Fig. 2): under the driver's seat and symmetrically to the axis of the car - for the passenger seats. With the help of bolts М10х40, the brackets of the front "legs" are fixed, bolts М10х75 - on the rear thrust bearings. It is necessary to strengthen the fastening connections, both on the side of the passenger compartment and on the side of the bottom. We carry out our plans with the help of steel sheet washers, thickness - 3-5mm. Cover the fasteners from the bottom with anti-corrosion mastic. Here, in fact, is the whole tuning of the VAZ 2106 seats.

I quite liked the idea, the tuning came out efficient and budgetary, however, homemade brackets are still rather weak, so it is worth strengthening them by welding the scarves, as shown in Fig. 1 with a dotted line.

The front seats on a VAZ 2106 car are not interchangeable.The seats are mounted on skids that are attached to the brackets on the body with two bolts at the front and two at the rear. To remove the front seats, we need a thirteen wrench, an eight socket and a barb.

If everything is there, then let's start repairing.

To remove the front seats, you must:

Move the seat all the way back and unscrew the nuts of the bolts securing the slide to the body bracket. Remove nuts and bolts and set aside to avoid loss.

Next, we move the seat all the way forward and in the same way, with an eight-point wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the slide.

Now you can, by slightly turning the seat to the side, pull it out of the car.

This completes the process of removing the front seats of the VAZ 2106 car. Now we remove the sliders of the sled, which are attached to the frame of the seat cushions with two bolts each.

To remove the slide sliders, you must:

Disconnect the spring of the outer slide.

Now we move the guide all the way back and first unscrew the front bolt of the slider fastening, and then move the guide forward and unscrew the rear bolt of the slider fastening. After removing the bolts and washers, remove the slide.

Install new seat slides in the reverse order of removal. After installing the slide, always lubricate them with grease such as LITOL-24 or FIOL-1. Install the new front seats in the car in the reverse order of removal.

For this procedure you will need:

8 head with extension
Ratchet handle or crank
Open-end wrench 13

The chairs are fixed with 4 bolts, two of which are in the front and the other two are in the back! First, we move the chair all the way forward, thereby gaining access to the rear mounting bolts:

Now you can safely unscrew the two bolts, as shown in the photo below:

After the rear part is free, you can proceed to the front one, having previously moved the seat all the way back. One bolt there is unscrewed in the same way as the back, but the other is slightly different. There you will need to use a 13 key and unscrew the nut from below, as clearly shown in the photo:

After that, you can remove the front seat of the VAZ 2106 for further repair or replacement.

If replacement is necessary, then we buy new chairs at a price of 3500 each and install everything in the reverse order. The whole job shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes.

To remove the front seat:

- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the storage battery;

- slide the front seat forward until it stops;

- Remove the two bolts 1 (Fig. 10.80) fastening the rear parts of the seat slide;

- slide the front seat back until it stops;

- Remove the two bolts 1 (Fig. 10.81) fastening the front parts of the seat slide;

- disconnect the electrical connectors from the seat;

- remove the front seat from the car.

To install the front seat:

- make sure that the seat guides are parallel to each other;

- lift the seat height adjuster to the upper position before installing it in place;

- slide the front seat back until it stops;

- screw in the bolts securing the front parts of the seat slide and tighten them to a torque of 20 Nm in the sequence shown in fig. 10.82;

- slide the front seat forward until it stops;

- screw in the bolts for fastening the rear parts of the seat slide and tighten them to a torque of 20 Nm in the sequence shown in fig. 10.82;

- connect the ground wire to the storage battery;

The front seats in the VAZ 2109 are not the most comfortable fit, the back and knees of the rear passengers, numb from fatigue, in the form of a massage. An alternative to this torture can be seats from a foreign car or restoration of relatives. The second option will be discussed today.

2. Disassembly

In principle, there should not be any special problems with disassembling the seats, but for many it will be useful to find out the details.
So, let's begin. We remove the seat, take it out of the car and begin to disassemble it. The disassembly report is made using the example of the driver's seat:

Disassembling the front seat is done. As you can see, nothing complicated. Even a schoolboy can handle it. Then the fun begins!

3. Assembly

We present to your attention a set of CBC "Omega" for the restoration of the front seats:

Along with the kit came a little "Fun".
Firstly, there was a jamb with delivery times. The boys who are sitting at the phone did not quite understand the order. Well, nothing happens. We confirm the order one and a half weeks after the last call. We are waiting another 3-4 days for delivery.
Secondly, when the order came, there was no crown frame in it! Well, yes, it also happens. All the same people. We pay for the next shipment. Everyone is happy, everyone is laughing. When assembling the seats, it turns out that the foam insert was not included in the parcel either. Well, there is already a jamb, again they did not call and swear - they found foam rubber in stocks.
Thirdly, when welding the factory frame and the crown frame, the latter lacked its own length in two places. Jamb of a manufacturer's assembly? Well, yes, it also happens. We get out on our own ...

3.1 Seat

I'll start by assembling the seat seat. In fact, nothing complicated either. The most ordinary constructor.

For work you will need:
1.flat screwdriver;
2. hammer;
3.knife (or scissors);
4. wire;
5.glue (like moment 88, ur-600, etc.);
6. glue brush;
6.foam rubber 10mm, 0.5x0.5m (if not included);
7.awl (not necessary);
8.insulating tape (not necessary);

The manufacturer's instructions can be found here. We are posting detailed instructions for assembling the "Omega" seat of one of the buyers. Augmented and with comments 🙂

Important! At the end, an operation was performed that was not described in the assembly instructions for the seat. It is not necessary to do it, but in order to achieve a higher strength against abrasion and wear of the seat it is recommended.

In general, some points during the assembly, added by myself, are marked "not necessary"... That is, if at the beginning of the comment under some picture you see this prefix, then this means that the manufacturer did not carry out this operation - this is a pure gag 🙂

Next, we collect the seat until the end:

The seat is assembled. As you can see, several items have been added regarding the standard assembly instructions. We think they will not be superfluous. We continue to work in the sweat of our brow!

3.2 Backrest

Well, this is where the second half of our movie begins. Hope you still have some popcorn? Not?! Run to the kitchen urgently and look for a replacement! ... but, though ... wait! Don't care! We look further!

Jokes aside, let's continue. Upon arrival of the crown frame, it and the factory backrest frame were taken to the welder. With them he did his dirty work. Everything worked out great. Unless, the design of the crown frame itself let us down. In the central part, it lacked the length to the back frame. Added stud bolts and voila! The new backrest frame is ready for assembly.
