Do-it-yourself yamaha synthesizer repair

In detail: do-it-yourself yamaha synthesizer repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

We try to make the forum not only meaningful, but also convenient for finding information.
Let's keep it clean and tidy together!
It's not difficult, you just need to follow a few simple rules.

1. Before you write something on the forum, formulate your thoughts - look at the title of the topic you opened, and if your conclusions do not match the title of the topic - look for most suitable topic or section.

2. Try group your thoughts in one message, do not write one phrase according to the principle “Better forty times one time than one time forty times”. At the same time, if you many thoughts or questions of a different nature, do not ask them in one topic. Look for for each individual thought the necessary topic and write there. At the same time, DO NOT duplicate the same message in different topics!

3. Pre scroll through the forum at least “TABLE OF CONTENTS”, look for suitable topics in the sections there, and when you really understandthat suitable there is no topic or section on the forum, do not be afraid to create a new one! In this case, the title of the topic should be concise and reflect the essence of the issue. When writing messages, use punctuation, if this is a problem, at least separate phrases with paragraphs. Write in a way that others can understand.

Video (click to play).

4. If you want to express your gratitude to a person by writing something like “Thank you Vasya for your advice. I will study now!, and without giving any information useful to other participants, use the button "THANK YOU" at the bottom of the message of the person who helped you. In the same way, you can express your sympathy for any message.

5. So let's remember some important points:

6. Don't be lazy search for the information you need. It all depends on your desire and desire. If you do not have them, no one will help you! Before asking a question about the operation of your tool, read the “User Guide” at least the first three to five pages - this will be a huge breakthrough to the knowledge of the unknown! 🙂 Use the built-in search on the site!

7. Do not swear among themselves and obscenely, do not find out relations on the pages of the forum - as a last resort, use personal messages for this, and indeed. Better not fight at all We are not here for this. Yes, and nerve cells are not restored! 🙂 Express your opinion in a polite way! You don’t need to “foam at the mouth” to prove your case by trying to humiliate an opponent who disagrees with you, especially since we all, by our human nature, are prone to delusions. Administrator and Moderator are full members of the forum, and can also have their own point of view on the topics discussed on the forum!

8. Get acquainted with some of the nuances of working with the site, make some suggestions, wishes, comments, and also, if you suddenly find inaccuracies or errors, write to “Suggestions section” to related topics. We are trying for you and will do everything in our power. Also, if there is a need to correct something in your messages - contact the Administrator or Moderator. Malicious violators of these simple "Rules" will be limited in their actions on the forum and website.

Respect yourself and others, value your and other people's time,
remain logical and humane in your actions and actions.

Be kind and you will get the same!

Remember! Any attempt at self-repair can result in you, at best, an increase in the cost of repairs, and at worst, the impossibility of repairing your equipment.

Synthesizer - an electronic musical instrument that creates (synthesizes) sound using one or more sound wave generators. The desired sound is achieved by changing the properties of the electrical signal (in analog synthesizers) or by adjusting the parameters of the central processor (in digital synthesizers). A synthesizer made in the form of a case with a keyboard is called a keyboard synthesizer. A synthesizer in the form of a case without a keyboard is called a synthesizer module and is controlled from a MIDI keyboard or other device, such as a MIDI guitar. If a keyboard synthesizer is equipped with a built-in sequencer, it is called a workstation. A synthesizer in the form of a computer program that uses a universal sound card for sounding and standard input-output means (computer keyboard, mouse, monitor) is called a software synthesizer.

1. Need a diagram for the device. (Every little thing does not work, such as display backlight lamps, etc.)
2. The key is faulty (works - does not work). The principle of operation of the node is not clear. Perhaps there is some work on the restoration.

1. Scheme.
2. Dirt under the rubber bands on the keyboard or their wear. The principle of operation is the same as in the remote control buttons. Repair Methods:
Cleaning gum, if only dirt. If a lot of wear does not help, then, according to normal, they need to be changed. If this is not possible, then use old-fashioned methods, such as rubbing with graphite. But this is not good, because the dynamics of the keyboard is disturbed.

Thanks a lot for your answer! But the problem with the key is more mechanical (like the spring there is either worn out or broken - the key is lower than the others). how to disassemble and repair the assembly.

There are no springs there. This is due to a torn rubber band so the key sags. Remove the back cover from the device, remove 2 narrow long boards on the keyboard (they are latched), you will get to the rubber bands and you will see everything for yourself. And for the rubber band you will have to bow to the Yamaha ASC.

It reads the flop badly (you have to reload the floppy several times).
Which flop drives are suitable for this instrument - ordinary computer or some special ones.

With flops, nothing can be said for sure. some computers can go, some can't. Sometimes jumpers need to be changed. In general, replacing a flopak with a computer one is reminiscent of dancing with a tambourine. And the original one costs about 40 euros without taking into account the interests of the ASC.
So rubber bands won? Image - Do-it-yourself yamaha synthesizer repair

I'm still looking. Some kind of trouble. Everyone promises. Image - Do-it-yourself yamaha synthesizer repair

I'm talking about rubber .. there it really broke through.

There was another problem - the display backlight bulbs. do not tell me what they are .. at what voltage .. and what can be replaced.

The Yamaha 630 synthesizer needs repair. After transportation in the passenger car, not a single button works. Only the wheel works, due to which the sounds change (Voice). Is there an atelier or a craftsman in Moscow to make the apparatus? So look for 1MB DRAM with organization 256k x 4, according to this datasheet. How do I know what is sold in your area. Moreover, these regions are unknown to anyone, because you were too lazy to fill out a profile.

Thank you very much. I will try to order

Of course, it is possible to repair synthesizers and other equipment manufactured by YAMAHA during the warranty period (free of charge) and after it (alas, for a fee) in the same place. Image - Do-it-yourself yamaha synthesizer repair

Where do you need a master? suitable for Miami?

The list of Yamaha ASCs is on this page

as for your conclusion “I’m sure they didn’t even look” - it’s not clear what this confidence is based on, however, like your diagnosis of a malfunction.
However, this is not so important. Please contact the ASC.

The problem with the “contact movement” of the plug is most likely an existing non-contact between the plug and the power supply circuit board. There are two reasons for such non-contacts: the first is the defective soldering of the contact during assembly; the second is mechanical damage (including simple frequent juggling of the plug during moving, installation, etc.). In addition to the PSU, but much less common, on devices with a power button in the form of a slider, wear of the graphite coating. Both problems are solvable

Is your TV, radio, mobile phone or kettle broken? And you want to create a new topic on this forum about it?

First of all, think about this: imagine that your father / son / brother has an appendicitis and you know from the symptoms that it is appendicitis, but there is no experience of cutting it out, as well as no tool. And you turn on the computer, go online to a medical site with the question: "Help cut out appendicitis." Do you understand the absurdity of the whole situation? Even if they answer you, it is worth considering such factors as the presence of diabetes in the patient, allergies to anesthesia and other medical nuances. I think no one does this in real life and will risk trusting the lives of their loved ones with advice from the Internet.

The same is true in the repair of radio equipment, although of course these are all the material benefits of modern civilization, and in case of unsuccessful repairs, you can always buy a new LCD TV, cell phone, iPAD or computer. And to repair such equipment, at least you need to have the appropriate measuring (oscilloscope, multimeter, generator, etc.) and soldering equipment (hair dryer, SMD thermal tweezers, etc.), a circuit diagram, not to mention the necessary knowledge and repair experience.

Let's take a look at the situation if you are a beginner/advanced radio amateur soldering all sorts of electronic things and having some of the necessary tools. You create an appropriate topic on the repair forum with a brief description of the "symptoms of the patient's illness", i.e. for example “Samsung LE40R81B TV does not turn on”. So what? Yes, there can be a lot of reasons for not turning on - from problems in the power system, problems with the processor, or flashing firmware in the EEPROM memory.
More advanced users can find a blackened element on the board and attach a photo to the post. However, keep in mind that you will replace this radio element with the same one - it is not yet a fact that your equipment will work. As a rule, something caused the combustion of this element and it could “pull” a couple of other elements along with it, not to mention the fact that finding a burnt m / s is quite difficult for a non-professional. Plus, in modern equipment, SMD radio elements are almost universally used, by soldering which with an ESPN-40 soldering iron or a Chinese 60-watt soldering iron, you risk overheating the board, peeling off the tracks, etc. The subsequent recovery of which will be very, very problematic.

The purpose of this post is not any PR for repair shops, but I want to convey to you that sometimes self-repair can be more expensive than taking it to a professional workshop. Although of course it is your money and what is better or riskier is up to you to decide.

If you nevertheless decide that you are able to repair the radio equipment yourself, then when creating a post, be sure to indicate the full name of the device, modification, year of manufacture, country of origin and other detailed information. If there is a diagram, then attach it to the post or give a link to the source. Write how long the symptoms have been manifesting, whether there were surges in the power supply network, whether there was a repair before, what was done, what was checked, voltage measurements, oscillograms, etc. From the photo of the board, as a rule, there is little sense, from the photograph of the board taken on a mobile phone there is no sense at all. Telepaths live in other forums.
Before creating a post, be sure to use the search on the forum and on the Internet. Read the relevant topics in the subsections, perhaps your problem is typical and has already been discussed. Be sure to read the Repair Strategy article

The format of your post should be as follows:

Topics with the title “Help me fix my Sony TV” with the content “broken” and a couple of blurry photos of the unscrewed back cover, taken on the 7th iPhone, at night, with a resolution of 8000x6000 pixels, are immediately deleted. The more information about the breakdown you put in the post, the more likely you will get a competent answer. Understand that the forum is a system of gratuitous mutual assistance in solving problems and if you neglect to write your post and do not follow the above tips, then the answers to it will be appropriate, if anyone wants to answer at all. Also keep in mind that no one should answer instantly or within, say, a day, no need to write after 2 hours “That no one can help”, etc. In this case, the topic will be deleted immediately.
You should make every effort to find the breakdown yourself before you reach a dead end and decide to turn to the forum. If you outline the entire process of finding a breakdown in your topic, then the chance of getting help from a highly qualified specialist will be very high.

If you decide to take your broken equipment to the nearest workshop, but don’t know where, then our online cartographic service may help you: workshops on the map (on the left, press all the buttons except “Workshops”). To the workshops, you can leave and view reviews from users.

For repairers and workshops: you can add your services to the map. On the map, find your object from the satellite and click on it with the left mouse button. In the “Object type:” field, do not forget to change it to “Equipment repair”. Adding is absolutely free! All objects are checked and moderated. Service discussion here.

Various devices get into our service center. As a rule, these are smartphones and laptops, system units of stationary computers and music centers, and once there was even a rocking chair for a baby.

But now - for the first time we have a guest synthesizer. This is an amateur, but very advanced for its level, instrument Casio LK80. Its main feature is a unique learning system that functions by backlighting the keys (the model name LK stands for Lighting Keyboard, which means “glowing keys” in English).

The essence of this system is that the synthesizer plays popular melodies stored in its memory, while highlighting the necessary keys. And, after a few trainings, you can already start playing on your own. However, in this case, music training was suspended due to the fact that the synthesizer stopped turning on. So he came to us.

The master of the “Let's fix everything!” service center, confident in his impending victory over the malfunction, resolutely entered the fight against it. Repair synthesizer begins with diagnostics - the external power supply is checked, as there was an assumption that there was no voltage supply to the device. However, it turned out to be in working order, there is voltage on the power connector plug. Let's start dismantling the case. After opening it, no damage or burnout was visually detected, all cables were tightly connected.

The only problem found during visual inspection was the presence of dust particles, which could interfere with the normal functioning of the device. However, a superficial check did not reveal any problems.

In the photo below, you can see dust particles on the heatsink for cooling the amplifier chip.

In order to check the performance of the boards (here there are three of them - the motherboard, which ensures the operation of the display and the amplifier board), it was decided to remove them. The first in line is the amplifier. We unscrew the fastener.

After dismantling the amplifier board, the master rings its contacts - everything is in order with them, the signal passes.

Next in line is the display board. But at this moment, the service center specialist has an assumption that due to the contamination of the body with dust and the general condition of the tool, problems can be caused by poor contact of the power button. Indeed, it turned out that there is oxide on the copper contact of the switch and the adjacent volume control tracks, which prevents the normal passage of the signal, moreover, there is a certain amount of dust under the partially hollow inside rubber power button, which also interferes with good contact.

After cleaning all contacts and removing dust, the power button is put in place, a pause of a few seconds before checking it (did it work or not?), the button is pressed ... And - everything works!

Rejoiced at the successful solution of the problem, the master played a small fragment of the victorious march on the already working synthesizer.

The sound is great, all keys work - synthesizer repair completed. For prevention, the contacts of the remaining control keys were also cleaned.

So, the reason for the failure of the Casio LK80 was trivial - the lack of contact on the switch button, and no complicated repairs were required to fix it. Now the instrument works, its owner will again play beautiful melodies on it, and her children will be able to continue their music education. And all this is thanks to the professionals of the service center "Let's Fix It!", who carry out high-quality and prompt repair of musical instruments. And to the list of services provided by us, repair of synthesizers was added.

It so happened that I YAMAHA PSR 275 synthesizer was brought for repair. With a request: clean the keys and remove all the accumulated fat and scam from the front panel and inside. Since I have been repairing yamaha synthesizers for many years.

At first I thought that dust got into the contacts of the synthesizer keys and they work every other time, it happens, how to treat this defect is described here.
Or this happens when, well, or there they dug potatoes with a synthesizer and stored them all summer in a barn, by the way, storing a synthesizer like a shovel in a barn is not uncommon, I have already convinced myself of this more than once.
But it turned out to be much easier. According to the client: “It’s all dirty and dusty and you see over there, the dust is around and there and here, and on the speakers, and under the grate, this is it, remove it please and in general it’s dirty and synthesizer keys WISHED, FU-FU, neither I nor the child will play on this ”(consider disdainful). I also clarified whether they bought the synthesizer from the hands of a collective farmer from a barn?
“No, they let us play it, it was lying on the balcony, we want to learn how to play the piano.”
Well, “okie doki,” I thought, I took up the repair of the Yamaha synthesizer.
Brief note: I'm wondering how? Yellowed keys from ultraviolet (cheap plastic) can be washed to a state of white? Or has a new Mr. Proper appeared to clean up burned-out plastic and restore it to its original form?

Video (click to play).

Having disassembled the synthesizer and making sure that everything was in order in it, after disassembling it with a clear conscience and dirty hands, I threw it into the bathroom, covered it with powder and, under a powerful jet, began to roll the foam and kick the dirt out of the speaker grille. By the way, I didn’t even shoot the speakers. they are paper and also wet with water. But as a result: chic-shine-beauty everything glitters, well, except for the keys of course (they burned out irrevocably). A day later, I assembled the synthesizer back, checked it and gave it to a satisfied client, taking 1,500 rubles for washing the front panel and all the keys of the synthesizer separately.
