In detail: do-it-yourself htc smartphone repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Consider one of the main reasons for the failure of a mobile phone: “various liquids hit the board” does not turn on, a white screen, or some buttons do not work. Of course, before opening the case, you need to know the cause of the breakdown. If one of the above, read on.
We open, carry out a visual inspection for the presence of corrosion, dirt and other unnecessary substances.
First of all, we remove all plastic parts, in general, everything that can be removed is unhooked. Do not forget about the film with keyboard buttons such as membranes, we also peel it off (this is on other models, on ours the keyboard board is disconnected).
We take a cleansing liquid (such as alcohol, Kolosha gasoline, cologne), I use Isoprapanol, it does not have an unpleasant odor like Kolosha.
We take a toothbrush, who doesn’t mind - a new one, dip it in alcohol, and clean the board until it looks like new - especially the contacts for the display, the USB connector. Do not press hard, you can demolish some components.
We cleaned it, now we take the flux, take a brush, smear the flux near the microcircuits (larger), set the hair dryer at 325 degrees and heat all the microcircuits in a circle and in the middle, the distance from the outlet of the tip (nozzle) of the hair dryer to the surface of the microcircuit is 1.5 cm. Tip it is better and more economical to take an average diameter.
We heat to such an extent that the tin is melted at the components located around the perimeter (adjust the temperature to 330 degrees). Very, very gently shake the microcircuit with a needle so that it moves a little. It is important not to shake too much, otherwise it will move out of the contacts, and so on with all non-glued (without compound) microcircuits. We also warm up the filters, to clean the flux, you can use an ultrasonic bath, but we will do it differently.
Video (click to play). |
Pour alcohol under all microcircuits without a compound, hold for a while so that the alcohol has time to collect all the dirt. Now we take a hair dryer from the soldering station and blow it under the microcircuits. By blowing alcohol out from under the microcircuits in this way, we do not need it there. The temperature of the hair dryer should be for warming up, and not for soldering, this is in the range from 260 to 290 degrees, depending on which station.
Let's go, let's move on. Now let cool and assemble. If after the assembly the breakdown is fixed, then “Hurrah everything is ready”. If, nevertheless, a white screen and some buttons do not work, you need to replace the filters or put jumpers, but that's another story. The most important parts that can fail after water or after a fall (impact) are filters (the so-called glasses), they look like this.
You need to do the same with them as with the rest of the microcircuits, only solder these places more carefully. Warm up, stir, about the flux (do not forget to apply) with it the components will not peel off the contacts. Now everything seems to be. What we have done applies only to damage due to moisture getting inside the phone. Other breakdowns, such as “does not charge” or “the network does not catch” - this cannot be fixed, replacement of components will be needed. More on this in future posts. Sincerely, ORA
Few people know about it, but you can come to a smartphone repair service center with your own spare parts. True, this is not always welcome: check before contacting.
Why carry your own supplies? In the workshop they are more expensive. Why? Because the service takes care of the time costs associated with delivery, is responsible for possible defects, gives a guarantee for spare parts and stores components in reserve in its own warehouse, for which you also have to pay.
Accessories are different:
1. Original new parts from the smartphone manufacturer. Usually they are supplied to official service centers, but you can also get them privately with some extra charge. The most reliable and expensive option.
2. "Donor" spare parts. These are components that were removed from the "dead" devices. For example, a motherboard burned out on a smartphone, but the screen remained absolutely intact. Why not use it a second time? Such spare parts are cheaper, but they need to be diligently searched for on Internet flea markets.
3. Third Party Spare Parts. Chinese friends are always ready to help in someone else's trouble. On the same Aliexpress you can find thousands of items of components for a variety of smartphones.
In most cases, these are non-original spare parts, which may or may not be lucky. The sudden death of a new Chinese screen a week after purchase and installation is a very real scenario. And, of course, the quality of third-party components from the original will also differ markedly. Not to mention the fact that they can simply be broken at the post office during delivery.
Spare parts from disassembled smartphones. On the left are the speakers of the iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. On the right are S7 edge cameras.
The second way to save on repairs is to do it yourself. YouTube is full of videos showing step by step how to fix various problems.
There is absolutely nothing wrong inside a smartphone: in fact, it is the same computer with a central board, to which various modules are connected using cables or directly - buttons, screen, cameras, speakers, etc.
However, the individual features of specific models cannot be discounted. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge/Note 7 has a glass back cover: it may crack during disassembly. Plus, by removing it, you automatically lose moisture protection. However, in an unofficial service, a guarantee that after the repair the smartphone can be bathed again will not be given to you either.
Some devices are disassembled from the side of the screen. Not even all service centers undertake their repair, because in an attempt to get to a cheap speaker, it’s easier than ever to damage an expensive matrix for tens of thousands of rubles. So be sure to watch at least a few good video guides before climbing inside!
At home, only the simplest type of repair can be performed: modular. That is, replace the defective component with a serviceable one. It is unlikely that it will be possible to cope with complex tasks involving soldering and knowledge of electrical fundamentals. In addition, few people accidentally had a soldering iron with special equipment, power supplies for determining the consumed currents and a microscope lying around in their apartment. “Recessed” phones at home can only be dried, and the means for cleaning and soldering are only available in services.
Any savings on repairs is an opportunity cost:
- You spend time looking for parts
- You run the risk of buying defective or inappropriate components
- Watching instructions for assembling and disassembling gadgets also takes time.
- You do the work longer than the master in the service center
- You risk breaking something due to inexperience
- Nobody gives a guarantee for work and purchased spare parts in case of self-repair
There is no universal solution, but the general advice is this. If you want fast, but reliable and with a guarantee, then the path lies in the service center. You need a little savings - you can search for spare parts, having previously found out their price in the selected service. Option with self-replacement of modules - for the most experienced and self-confident.

Taiwanese company HTC was founded in 1997 and originally produced handheld computers for companies such as Palm, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens, Hewlett Packard.
Later, production was expanded, and HTC launched the production of smartphones based on Windows Mobile. Leading cellular operators became interested in the company's products and NTS began to cooperate with T-mobile, Orange, O2 and Vodafone. As a result, in the early 2000s, the NTS company was the leading leader in the production of devices based on the Windows platform.
HTC phones.
In 2002, the NTS company specially created a brand Qtek to promote their products. For the same purpose, in 2004, the campaign created another brand - Dopod, but already for the sale of devices in the Asian market. And already in 2006, NTS entered the market under its own name.
In the same 2006, a GPS module appeared in NTS smartphones. By 2007, the corporation had developed a gesture system that greatly simplified the use of a smartphone's resistive touch screen. The first proprietary version of the company's interface was also announced under the nameTouchFLO. All these innovations have resulted in HTC Touch - the first device from the manufacturer, released under its own brand.
The year 2008 turned out to be no less important for the company, in which NTS introduced the world's first smartphone based on Android - T-Mobile G1, also known to us as HTC Dream. This smartphone was the impetus for the beginning of a new era in the world of mobile devices. Since then, the popularity of Google's OS has been growing rapidly, and the Taiwanese manufacturer has penetrated all major world markets.
2009 was marked by the release of HTC Hero. This smartphone had a relatively new operating system. But it was not she who won the hearts of buyers, but a new branded shell HTC Sense. To this day, Sense is the main reason for choosing HTC products for many customers.
In 2010, the company created the HTCSense.com portal, which linked the HTC smartphone to a desktop PC. This year was also marked by the fact that the NTS company began to release its first smartphone that supports 4G.
Phone HTC Sensation XL.
In 2011, the era of Android tablets began and HTC Flyer, the first tablet PC from NTS, which incorporated all the best that the company had. It is very different from its competitors in technology HTC Scribe, which allows you to enter information into your tablet using a digital pen.
NTS has received worldwide recognition. Proof of this are the constant awards that the company receives. The most important award in recent times has been the title "Best Global Brand 2011" from Interbrand.
HTC strives to become a leading manufacturer and supplier of innovative mobile devices through the development of modern design solutions. Incorporating new technologies into our products is a path that has already led to the success of NTS and continues to lead the company to new heights.
Settings - an “A” icon with a word like “Language” (the icon seems to be the same, only the words are different) - then the very first item and there scroll through and select the Russian language.
The settings are called through the notification window (shift the status bar from top to bottom, select the tools icon there). The Russian language is almost at the very end of a long list.
Or in the application that was originally installed in the NTS with the name MoreLocation (My Locate), select the column at the very top and change everything to ru.
Anyone, depending on the desire and needs. But! No antivirus can in any way protect against the user launching a malicious application on his own. It is best to disable the installation of applications from unknown sources in the Android settings, and carefully read the permissions before installing.
The graphic code installed on the phone lock flew out of my head. After several attempts to remember the code itself, the phone now insistently requires unlocking only through a google account.
Reset settings to factory settings (make reset- a specific key combination for your device): For almost all HTC phones:
1. Turn off your phone. Pull out the flash drive and sim card.
2. Press and hold the volume rocker down and briefly press on. nutrition.
3. The service menu will appear, use the rocker to select “reset” and press the power button.
The factory settings will be restored, but all contacts and self-installed applications will “fly off”.
PS: If you remember your Google account username and password, then you need to enter it when included the Internet. You can turn on the Internet by sliding the top line, where there are quick access functions.

Series of CHIP articles: how to repair electronics at home
Why do people throw away a smartphone that is only two years old if it just has a cracked screen or no longer charging the battery? These days, progress in the field of technical development is not so rapid that there is a constant need to own the latest model. If the warranty period has already expired, then what prevents you from saving money by showing your skills?
It is very convenient that smartphones and tablets have a modular design, so that many components can be replaced without the help of a soldering iron. You just have to be careful not to damage the "delicate" flat cables. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to replace everything that you have dismantled. If, for example, a fingerprint scanner is built into the Home button, then your device will probably be locked after replacing parts yourself. Safety-relevant components must be individually registered to the hardware - and this can only be done by an authorized dealer.
Many manufacturers, such as Apple or Samsung, send spare parts for their devices only to authorized service centers. What is available in parts stores is at best made by the same Chinese manufacturer as the original part; however, it can also be a used part or a more or less well-made copy. With minimal risk of being scammed, you can get them from major, highly rated parts suppliers or through the iFixit platform, where you also get a performance guarantee and a right to return, which of course comes with a price.
However, for many special details, you have no choice but to try your luck on eBay or AliExpress. Read the descriptions of offers as carefully as you read the terms of contracts. Don't go for the cheapest deals. At first glance, such "bargain" purchases are often indistinguishable from original parts, and only during installation it becomes clear that they do not fit due to too large dimensional tolerances or that the alleged Retina display is actually just an LCD display with large pixels.
Pentalob, Tri-Wing or Torq - the industry can "invent" very ingenious screw heads, but it will be possible to purchase screwdrivers suitable for them very quickly on the Web. Almost all manufacturers, with the exception of Apple, use common profiles, in most cases Philips Phillips (PH) or Torx (TX) sprocket. At the same time, manufacturers willingly hide one or more screws under a company tag or rubber inserts glued to the case. If the case does not open, then it should be inspected for the presence of such "caches".
In the case of tight-fitting screws, you can easily destroy their slots if you loosen the screwdriver. It should be pressed with full force into the head of the screw to achieve maximum grip. However, if the incident has already occurred, then a narrow screwdriver with a flat slot and a significant applied force can help. Or you will have to purchase a so-called "screw remover" on iFixit. Thanks to its crown-shaped tip with sharp edges, it is firmly fixed in every screw. If the screw, on the contrary, scrolls, then clamp the pick or the tip of the tweezers under the head of the screw (as a locking lever) and continue to unscrew the screw.
Thin cases are often connected with small latches. You can elegantly open these latches with a guitar pick. It is thin and flexible, but strong and non-conductive. Use it to try to get to the corner between the case cover and the bezel, but don't push the pick too far to avoid damaging the hidden flat ribbon cable.
Move the pick in one direction until you feel resistance, and then release the hidden lock by tilting the pick up. As with removing a bicycle tire, things are easier if you use multiple picks to prevent already open connections from snapping back together.
To better protect electronics from moisture penetration, more and more devices are additionally glued. Typically, these adhesives are thermoplastic and can re-soften when heated. If your hair dryer does not have the ability to adjust the temperature, we recommend working with cold-heat compresses. Similar gel pillows are not so expensive in pharmacies. They are heated in a water bath or in the microwave (check if three to four minutes of heating at 750 watts is enough, and add a few more minutes if necessary).
The gel cushion transfers heat to the device over the entire contact surface, which prevents cracks caused by internal stresses in parts due to uneven heat distribution. In addition, it makes it impossible for the components to overheat, as the pad bursts when heated above 90 °C. If you don't have experience with compresses yet, place it in a grocery bag while heated to prevent possible mess if it bursts. When the adhesive seal softens, picks come to the rescue again. This time, use the suction cup to pull the back of the case (or the glued top glass) upwards, while at the same time snapping the latches off with a pick.
When the case is finally opened, the next step should be the obligatory photographing of its internal elements. Careful documentation will greatly facilitate your subsequent build. To ensure that exposed electronic components do not suffer additional damage caused by static electricity, now is the time to use ESD protection, or at least touch the nearest radiator.
The first step is to disconnect the battery cable to de-energize the gadget, preventing a short circuit. Before the final installation of sensitive parts (such as the display), they must be temporarily connected without assembling the devices and their operation must be checked.
