Chevrolet Aveo - Repair. Part 4 - Starter. Manual transmission oil.
VIDEO
Good day, comrades, the starter began to age a little, the bendix began to slip and other sounds appeared, this all lasted the last 2 years, but I am not a fan of being pulled with a cable and I decided to repair it, I bought spare parts, bought a new bendik, brushes, bushings , plug - I thought what to do so)) I never took off the starter on my car, it turned out this is a complete shit , so not convenient ... I shot it well, so as not to exaggerate for about an hour) well, I took it off, I think I’ll go over it and go back, I started to disassemble, but the new parts won’t melt, and not that they won’t melt, but they are not about the same as on my starter, in short, as it turned out in Aveo, there are 2 types of starters (probably the Chinese and Koreans have different ones) well damn Asians ... In short, I disassembled it, went online and looked at how much the bendix costs, as on my starter, it is about 500 UAH, brushes, like mine, about 300 = 800 UAH Charles? come on? it's easier for me to buy a new one Zelez on the Internet, ordered a gear starter 1200 UAH, took it from the post office and forgot it, as a result I have a new starter with a guarantee, half-dead with 10 years of experience and spare parts)) good luck to all)
Price tag: 1,200 UAH Mileage: 95,000 km
Chevrolet Aveo Sedan 2007, petrol engine 1.5 l., 86 hp sec., front-wheel drive, manual transmission - DIY repair
Oh, my epic was to find the right starter, the original costs from 6, and the analogs did not fit three pieces I tried, then one on the wrong side, then the wires do not hold out, I was worn out, put the old one
I bought a new 1300 and gave it away at the autograd. And then it stopped starting altogether. But changing the starter to Aveo is PPC ... next time I'll give it a hundred)
Well, it's not convenient, it's 100℅, but I don't trust the service)
Then a week later they changed the helicopter, which is also a joy. But it's easier than a starter at times. Gears are now incl. Like a bun)
He did the right thing by taking a new one. Before the new year, I was nagging with mine, I regret that I did not take the new one right away.
You will need: spanner keys "for 10", "for 13".
The starter motor is mounted on the cylinder block at the rear of the power unit.

Checking the axial clearance of the gear
After dismantling the starter from the engine, check the freedom of movement of the gear along the screw thread of the shaft and the freedom of rotation of the shaft of the electric motor (using a screwdriver).
If the shaft sticks, the starter must be disassembled immediately. In case of normal rotation of the shaft, first check the starter at idle speed, and then, if necessary, disassemble.
Assemble the electrical circuit for checking the starter, shown in the figure Dismantling, checking and assembling the starter ... Switch on the starter and measure the consumed current, voltage and speed of the motor shaft. Compare the obtained values with the nominal ones.
If the nominal values are given without taking into account the current consumed by the traction relay, it is necessary to correct the measurement results by subtracting the nominal current consumed by the holding coil of the relay from the obtained value.
Switch off the power supply and disassemble the electrical circuit.
1. If the consumed current and the frequency of rotation of the shaft of the electric motor correspond to the rated values, the starter is in good working order.
2. Low shaft speed and high current consumption are indications of the following malfunctions:
- increased resistance to shaft rotation due to high interference, wear or contamination of bearings, bending of the motor armature, etc .; - short circuit of the armature windings; - short circuit of armature windings or field windings.
3. If the shaft does not rotate at a high current consumption, the possible reasons are:
- short to ground in the excitation winding or at the terminals; - seizure of bearings. (Check by rotating the armature by hand). Disassemble the starter.
4. If the shaft does not rotate in the absence of current in the circuit, possible reasons are:
- rupture in the excitation winding. Disassemble the starter and check the internal commutation and the integrity of the windings using a test lamp; - rupture in the armature winding. Disassemble the starter and inspect the anchor; - breakage of the brush spring, wear of the brushes, contamination of the collector plates and other reasons that worsen the contact of the brushes with the collector plates. Disassemble the starter.
5. Low speed of rotation of the shaft at low current consumption:
- increased internal resistance due to poor contact, faulty wires, contamination of the collector plates and other reasons. Disassemble the starter.
6. A high idle speed with a large current consumption usually indicates a short circuit in the field winding. Disassemble the starter and check the stator field windings.
18+ how to remove a starter Replacing the bendix (starter) on a Chevrolet Aveo, and profanity.
Come on, I take off the starter on the Aveo in 15 minutes, remove the bracket, then unscrew it with ratchets and extension cords. Yes, I do not argue the first time without mats can not be removed, but the second time it is removed without problems))) Did you count the teeth? In Nano Bendex you have 8 teeth, and sometimes 8, 9 and 10. And what kind of engine is it, is it like this or what?
riddle for foreigners. worth fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking and fucking
Rookshop. You need to get a normal tool. And think a little with your head that you can't hold on to one bolt. So the second is worth it. And if the hands are hooks, then I repeat, a normal tool will allow you to unscrew everything.

well done uncle. cool explain! I love these humorists. ))))))) Thanks for the video. )))
Lanos, Nexia, Aveo, the engine and starter are not much different, without a hole I took it off without haste yesterday, put it today, and whoever says it's easy, good luck.
The starter is removed within 10-15 minutes. You unscrew one bolt from the top - it is a little inconvenient. The rest is everything from below - a freebie, everything is accessible and easy. From me to the service station they asked 1,500 rubles for replacing the bendix, supposedly it's hard to shoot. I turned around and drove off. The work costs 300 rubles if the hands are in place - no more.

Respect and respect to the author for commenting.
It all depends on the master !! Yesterday I took off the Aveo 1.6 starter a little inconveniently, but it is possible, provided that the hands grow from the shoulders and not from other parts of the body, in 4 hours I took it off, changed the sleeve, collected it and put it in place and went to work! Regarding the discomforts, I will say, show me a place by car where everything is convenient and accessible, they simply do not exist !! Good luck with the repair ALL

I agree. removing the starter (on a chevrolet, opel and my nexia) - complete ass
Hello everyone, I want to share how to remove the starter on the Nexia, lacheti, Aveo. I shot from below, in order to remove it, I unscrewed two long bolts that attach the starter motor to the bendix body and it went.
Great guys. I have a Daewoo Gentra. I can't call in the morning. That is, the starter does not work. If struck by the starter, it will work. Help.
Greetings. I have a similar problem. Did you find a solution?

In vain you are so zealous with mats, without them it would be even more useful.
Handsome, a clear report, very accurately described the emotions that I had after an unsuccessful attempt to independently change the starter on the nexia. I shouldn't have listened to you right away, anyway, now go to the service, let them fuck there.
I did it from the hole, first unscrew the two bolts that attach the starter motor to the bendix body, remove it, carefully take out the satellites and go for it
I would like to send many engineers and designers to donkeys.
this washer, which is not known where it fell out from, from the back cover, is put on the anchor shaft. in short, after about a week, it will take off again, and maybe even earlier. due to the absence of a washer, the anchor will cling to the brush assembly.
Morgan Morgan pits are not in the garage. you can try it on your own, but it's better not to climb without the right tool.

Chevrolet Aveo (2004+). STARTER
The starter motor of the Chevrolet Aveo is a four-pole, four-brush DC motor with permanent magnet excitation, combined with a planetary gearbox and an electromagnetic two-winding traction relay.
Covers 1 and 15 (Fig. 10.4), as well as the stator body 17 are tightened with two bolts 14. Permanent magnets are fixed in the stator body.Rotation from the rotor 18 of the electric motor is transmitted to the drive shaft 9 through a planetary gearbox consisting of a ring gear 7, a carrier made in one piece with the drive shaft 9, and three satellites 11. A free-wheel roller clutch 5 is installed on the drive shaft.
The drive shafts and the rotor rotate in two sintered bearings bushings pressed into covers 1 and 15.
On the cover 1, a traction relay 10 is fixed, the armature of which moves the drive clutch 5 through the lever 6. When the key is turned in the ignition switch (lock) to position III, the voltage from the battery is supplied to the retractor and holding coil of the traction relay 10, the armature of which moves the drive lever 6, and the starter drive clutch gear 5 engages with the engine flywheel ring gear. At the same time, the armature of the traction relay closes the power contacts (at this moment, the retracting winding is turned off) and the voltage from the battery is supplied to the starter motor. The starter rotor 18 turns the engine crankshaft through a planetary gearbox. After starting the engine, when the gear speed exceeds the speed of the starter shaft, the freewheel is unlocked and slips, thereby protecting the starter from high speed and damage.
The starter operating mode is short-term (its duration is up to 10 s). At negative temperatures, the duration of work is allowed up to 15 s. The starter is powered by a storage battery and is a remanufactured, serviceable product.
HELPFUL TIPS To avoid many starter malfunctions, follow a few simple rules when operating it.
When starting the engine, turn on the starter for no more than 10-15 s and again after 20-30 s. Continuous continuous operation of the starter can lead to overheating. If, after three attempts, the engine does not start, then you should check and eliminate malfunctions in the engine power supply system or in the ignition system. After starting the engine, immediately turn off the starter, as prolonged rotation of the drive gear by the flywheel can lead to seizure of the drive freewheel clutch. It is not allowed to move the car with a starter. This causes significant overload and damage.
Rice. 10.4. Starter details: 1 - drive side cover; 2 - screws for fastening the traction relay to the cover from the drive side; 3 - retaining ring of the drive clutch; 4 - thrust ring of the drive coupling; 5 - drive clutch; 6 - drive lever; 7 - ring gear; 8 - support of the drive lever; 9 - drive shaft; 10 - traction relay; 11 - satellites; 12 - a sealing ring of the planetary gearbox; 13 - cover bolts from the collector side; 14 - tie bolts; 15 - cover from the side of the collector; 16 - brush assembly; 17 - stator; 18 - rotor; 19 - cover of the planetary gearbox
Chevrolet Aveo (2011+). POSSIBLE STARTER MALFUNCTIONS, THEIR CAUSES AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
The starter is a collector-type DC electric motor with a drive gear that engages with the flywheel ring gear at the moment of engagement. The gear is integrated with a roller-type overrunning clutch and is located directly on the armature shaft.

Replacing, repairing a starter on a Chevrolet with your own hands
Symptoms: The starter motor turns, but the engine does not start.
Probable cause: starter failure.
Tools: cloth gloves, a set of heads, a set of wrenches, a set of screwdrivers, a tester, a vernier caliper, a clean cloth soaked in gasoline, fine-grained paper, small nails or rivets, pliers.
Spare parts: motor oil; silicone sealant; silicon grease: General Electric CG321 or similar.
1. Remove the starter from the vehicle engine.
2. Unscrew the nut that secures the tire to the contact bolt of the starter traction relay.
3. Remove the tire from the traction relay contact bolt.
4. Unscrew and remove the three bolts that secure the traction relay to the front cover of the starter.
5. Disconnect the traction relay and starter.
6. Unscrew and remove the two bolts holding the stator and the starter rear cover together.
7. Remove the rear stator cover.
8. Unscrew and remove the two screws that secure the cover.
10. Carefully inspect the rear starter cover. On it, as well as on the bushing installed in it, there should be no noticeable signs of wear or damage, as well as other visible defects.
Note. If, during inspection, any defects are revealed, then the cover should be replaced together with the sleeve.
11. Remove the rotor with the brush holder assembly from the stator.
12. Disconnect the brush holder assembly and rotor.
13. Remove the drive arm support from the starter front cover.
14. Remove the oil deflector cover, planetary gear.
15. Remove the sealing ring, planetary gear cover.
16. Remove three satellites from the carrier axle.
17. Remove the drive shaft from the starter cover.
19. Move the stop ring along the drive shaft, in such a way as shown in the photo below.
20. Remove the retaining ring by hooking it up with a screwdriver.
21. Remove the restricting ring.
23. Remove the ring gear of the planetary reduction gear.
24. Check the brush holder assembly.
- Measure the height of the brushes in the brush holder, their height should be more than seven millimeters.
- Check the insulated holders for a short to the housing, using an ohmmeter. When measuring, the device should show an infinite value.
Note. If a malfunction is found, the brush holder should be replaced.
25. Inspect the rotor.
- When inspecting, traces of any mechanical damage (seizures, nicks), as well as other defects on the gear and trunnion, must be completely absent.
- The rotor header must always be clean. Slight burns can be removed with a cloth soaked in gasoline and fine-grained sandpaper.
- Check the rotor winding with an ohmmeter for a short circuit. When measuring, the device should show an infinite value.
Note. If any malfunction is identified, the rotor should be replaced.
26. Check the effort with which the armature of the starter traction relay moves. Then, using an ohmmeter, check the quality of the contact of the contact bolts of the contact plate.
27. Check the drive clutch.
- The gear teeth must be clean from traces of wear and mechanical damage.
- The pinion should turn from a slight force against the coupling hub in the direction of rotation of the rotor, and should not turn in the opposite direction.
Note. If at least one of the above defects is found, the clutch should be replaced with a new one.
28. Inspect the starter drive arm for cracks, as well as other signs of damage, or wear of the forks groove.
Note. If any faults are found, the drive arm should be replaced.
29. Assemble the starter in the reverse order, replacing the broken parts with new ones. However, when collecting, one should take into account the following features:
- Apply a layer of General Electric CG321 silicon grease, or its substitute, to the rotor shaft gear.
- During operation, the drive coupling does not need to be lubricated, but it must be cleaned of dirt. It is strictly forbidden to use agents to clean the coupling that can wash out the lubricant embedded in it.
- Apply a layer of engine oil to the bearings (bushings) that are located in the starter caps and are designed to rotate the rotor.
- Use pliers to remove the stop ring.
- Before installing the brush holder on the rotor, you should spread the brushes and fix them in any available way, and after installing it on the starter rotor, remove the invented device from the brushes.
- Before installing the starter traction relay, apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to the surface of the relay in contact with the starter cover from the side where the drive is located.

We repair the starter of the Chevrolet Lacetti car. The starter has a broken bendix, and there was no contact on the brush assembly. This was manifested in the fact that the starter was turning, the starter was humming with no load, the car would not start.
We disassemble and repair the Chevrolet Lacetti starter.
The main illness of the Chevrolet Lacetti starter is that the breather is not made in it, as a result of the resulting condensate does not drain away, corrosion appears that affects all the main starter units, the brushes, for example, reach such a state that they wedge in the glasses of the brush assembly.
In the video, you can see the solution to this problem, drilling a hole with a diameter of about 3 mm in the lower part in order for the accumulated condensate to drain. It really helps!
