In detail: do-it-yourself repair of a chevrolet lacetti starter from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
We repair the starter of the Chevrolet Lacetti car. The starter has a broken bendix, and there was no contact on the brush assembly. This was manifested in the fact that the starter was turning, the starter was humming with no load, the car would not start.
We disassemble and repair the Chevrolet Lacetti starter.
The main illness of the Chevrolet Lacetti starter is that the breather is not made in it, as a result of the resulting condensate does not drain away, corrosion appears that affects all the main starter units, the brushes, for example, reach such a state that they wedge in the glasses of the brush assembly.
In the video, you can see the solution to this problem, drilling a hole with a diameter of about 3 mm in the lower part in order for the accumulated condensate to drain. It really helps!
Chevrolet Lacetti starter repair video:
As we can see, with a great desire and opportunity, you can easily disassemble, repair the starter on the Chevrolet Lacetti with your own hands, there are no particular difficulties in this.
We remove the starter for repair or replacement if it fails, as well as when dismantling the engine.
Disconnect the terminal of the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

... and remove the wire ends from the special bolt.
Using the "13" head with an extension cord, we unscrew the special bolts for attaching the starter (for clarity, it is shown on the removed engine).
Having pulled out the starter, with the head "by 10" we unscrew the nut securing the tip of the traction relay control wire ... ... and disconnect the tip of the wire.
We remove the starter.
Install the starter in reverse order.
When the engine refuses to crank after applying voltage and turning the key, it becomes clear that either the contacts or the battery are to blame, or you need to think about how to remove the starter on the Chevrolet Lacetti. This is the only way to diagnose and repair it. As a last resort, replace.
Two starter mounting bolts
The starter is attached to the cylinder block on the right on two studs, but in order to dismantle it, you must disconnect all the wiring that belongs to it.
The work on the removal of the unit is carried out either on inspection pit, or on a lift and it won't take long. For its implementation, only a standard set of tools will be needed; in extreme cases, an aerosol penetrating lubricant of any manufacturer can be useful.
It is advisable to process the nuts and studs with it in advance. We carry out the work in the following order:
-
We install the car on a lift or inspection pit, overpass.
Dismantle the starter power wire.
Here is the power to the solenoid relay.
Old and new starter Magnetti Morelli
After repairing or replacing a starter with a new one, several important rules must be observed:
- the tightening torques of the nuts on the studs in 1.4 and 1.6 liter motors must be at least 23 Nm;
- for engines with a volume of 1.8 liters, the tightening torque of the fastening screw to the cylinder block is 45 Nm, and to the gearbox - 50 Nm;
- tighten the nuts of the solenoid relay terminal with a torque of 5.5 Nm;
- the tightening torque of the cable nut from the ignition relay is the same, 5.5 Nm;
- We twist the large negative cable with a torque of about 12 Nm for confident contact.
Using this algorithm and tips, you can quickly replace the starter on the Chevrolet Lacetti with your own hands. Successful work to all and good roads!

Starter not working - troubleshooting
To do the work, you will need an assistant, a multimeter,
Sequence of execution
1. We check the fuse-link Ef4 of the mounting block of fuses and relays. We replace it if necessary. We are trying to start the engine. If the fuse link burns out again, there is a short circuit in the wiring that must be repaired. When searching for a short circuit, we use the electrical diagrams given in the appendix.
2. Check if the battery is charged. We charge it if necessary.
3. Check the connection of the wires to the starter terminals. If necessary, we clean the contacts and treat them with a special conductive grease.
4. Checking the starter.
5. We check the electrical circuit of the starter.
Starter check
You can check the electrical part of the starter without disassembling it.
1. Remove the starter.
When checking, do not short-circuit the positive battery terminal to the starter housing.
2. Connect the negative terminal of the storage battery to the starter housing with one wire. The second wire, connected to the positive terminal of the battery, is connected to the contact bolt 3 of the retractor relay, to which the starter wire is connected. If the starter armature starts to rotate, the starter motor is operational. Otherwise, the brush assembly or anchor is faulty.
3. We connect the wire connected to the positive terminal of the storage battery, to the terminal bolt 1 of the retractor relay. Using a screwdriver or other suitable metal object, we short-circuit terminal 2 and the terminal bolt 1 of the solenoid relay. If there is a loud click and the starter armature begins to rotate, the retractor relay is working properly. If the relay has triggered, and the starter motor has not started to rotate, then most likely the contacts of the solenoid relay burned out and they must be cleaned, for which the relay must be removed. If the relay does not work, it must be replaced.
4. When the solenoid relay is activated, the drive should move along the starter shaft. If this does not happen, the drive lever is faulty. Contact a specialist workshop for repair.
5. To check the overrunning drive clutch with a screwdriver, rotate the gear in different directions. In this case, the gear must rotate in one direction with the shaft, and in the other direction separately from it (the shaft remains stationary). Otherwise, the drive must be replaced. To replace the drive it is necessary to disassemble the starter.
Removal and installation of a starter
The starter is secured with two bolts on the right side of the cylinder block at its rear.
To complete the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.
Withdrawal
1. Preparing the car for the job.
2. With a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the nut for securing the "mass" wires, remove the wires from the stud, unscrew two studs for securing the starter (the second is located symmetrically on the other side of the starter), disengage the starter from the flywheel and turn it down with the rear part for easy unscrewing of the fastening nuts wires.
3. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the wire to terminal B + of the retractor relay and remove the wire.
4. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the wire to the "ST" terminal of the retractor relay, remove the wire and remove the starter.
Installation
Install the starter in reverse order.
The instruction is relevant for Chevrolet Lacetti cars of 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 model year.
To inspect the part and search for a defect that has appeared, the starter must first be removed. This is not difficult to do, but the car will have to be driven into a pit or overpass.
- Unscrew the ground wire fastener (the nut is removed with a 13 key). The wiring is removed from the stud.
- Unscrew the studs themselves that secure the starter.
- Disconnect the starter itself from the flywheel hitch.
- To disconnect the cable, you need to remove the nut that holds it to the output of the solenoid relay (marked as "B +").
- Pull out the cable going to the "ST" output by removing the nut with a "10" wrench.
Starter installation is carried out in reverse order.
If a click is heard, but the starter does not work, then the retractor relay will have to be changed. It is sometimes easier to replace it than to bother with repairs. For this you need:
- First remove the starter itself.
- To remove the cable, unscrew the nut with a 13 ”spanner wrench.
- Unscrew the fastenings of the retractor relay itself (three bolts) with a "Torx".
- Withdrawing the armature from the drive arm, pull out the relay.
Installation is carried out in reverse order, the tip must be connected to the lever.
16. Remove the drive shaft from the cover.
17. and remove the drive arm.
18. Slide the stop ring over the drive shaft as shown in the photo.
19. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the retaining ring.
20. Remove the retaining ring.
22. Remove the ring gear of the planetary reduction gear.
23. Inspect the brush assembly. Check the height of the brushes in the brush holder. If their height is 7 mm or less, replace the brush assembly with a new one. Check with an ohmmeter the insulated holders for a short circuit to the case. Resistance must go to infinity.
24. Inspect the rotor. There should be no damage (nicks, scuffs) on the gear wheel and rotor shaft pins. The rotor manifold must be free of burn marks. Remove minor burns with a cloth soaked in gasoline and fine-grained emery cloth.
25. Check the rotor winding for short circuit with an ohmmeter. Resistance must go to infinity.
26. Check whether the armature of the starter traction relay moves easily, whether the contact bolts of the contact plate are closed (using an ohmmeter).
27. Check the drive clutch. The gear teeth should not be significantly worn. The gear should turn easily relative to the coupling hub in the direction of rotation of the rotor and should not turn in the opposite direction. If the gear teeth are worn or damaged, or the gear turns in both directions, replace the clutch.
28. There should be no cracks or signs of significant wear on the forks groove on the starter drive lever.
29. Assemble the starter in the reverse order to disassembly, taking into account the following features:
- lubricate the rotor shaft gear with General Electric CG 321 silicon grease or similar;
During operation, the drive coupling does not need to be lubricated. However, it is necessary to clean it from dirt. Do not use agents to clean the drive that can flush out the grease in the drive coupling.
- lubricate the bearings (bushings) in which the starter rotor rotates with engine oil;
- use pliers to install the stop ring;
We carry out a full examination of the starter of a Chevrolet Lacetti car, disassembling all its components, diagnosing and repairing them. The starter is generally standard, there are no special bells and whistles in it, it is geared for 12 volts, with permanent magnets. One of the most common malfunctions of this unit is the lack of contact on the brush assembly and the malfunction of the bendixes. The starter that we have under repair came with a faulty bendix, at the factory the auto bendix turned around, the car did not start.
The video is in good quality, the process of repair, diagnostics and assembly of the starter is shown, all the main malfunctions encountered with this unit are explained in detail.
Video repair, disassembly, assembly and diagnostics of a starter in a Chevrolet Lacetti (Chevrolet Lacetti):
Another of the key problems of starters in the Chevrolet Lacetti (Chevrolet Lacetti) is that they are made of cheap materials, they save on everything, for example, there is no so-called breather that would remove excess condensate from the body, as a result of this widespread corrosion. The video shows how you can make a condensate drain with your own hands by drilling several technological holes.
For resistance welding, the "TOP" apparatus is used, it is quite suitable for welding copper braids. repair of Chevrolet Lacetti
Let's say you have a breakdown of the starter on the Lacetti and you decide to replace it with a new one. Take your time to go to the store, maybe the old one can still be repaired. You will say that you yourself do not understand anything about this, so nothing is required of you. It is enough to go to a car service, hand over the starter, and there they will carry out its diagnostics and give the final verdict.
In order to give the starter for repair, it must first be removed. This is done very simply: fold the negative terminal of the battery, then disconnect all the wires from the starter and unscrew the bracket mount.
So, you removed the starter, now it needs to be cleaned. What is required for this? Special cleaning agent, large and small metal brush and dry cloth. We apply the agent to the surface of the starter and it will begin to corrode the dirt within a few minutes. At this time, we take a large metal brush and clean the starter.
We perform similar actions with a small brush. At the end, we thoroughly wipe the element with a rag, this completes the cleaning of the starter.
While working, do not forget about your own safety, because the substance with which you clean the metal is very corrosive and can damage the skin. So be sure to wear rubber gloves.
If you are disassembling the starter yourself, then the internal elements also need to be cleaned. Perhaps the breakdown was precisely due to the accumulation of dirt, which prevents normal contact. The starter is installed in reverse order.
The assembly is understandable. And disassembly? How to remove the retaining ring?
Oleg Sbitnev with a blow through sending, you can use the head at 13.
Hello Konstantin. Tell me what kind of grease to lubricate the starter. There is CV joint, Graphite, Litol 24. Or it is better to buy some other. I saw CV joints with molybdenum in stores. (What analogues of your lubricant exist) Middle Russia. In winter -30s, in summer +40. Maximum temperatures.
Good day, are you talking about lubrication in the gearbox? in the Castrol video, now using ELF and JCB. You have indicated your temperature regime, and then select the lower limit - the upper one is about + (130 -150).
Tell me. the starter clicks from the key and silence. I close the contacts with a screwdriver to start. I screwed the wires to the terminal of the retractor and the terminal of the brushes and brought them to the battery. then I turn on the ignition and connecting these 2 wires and the whole thing is a plus. the car starts up, but the wire that goes to the brushes gets very hot and the wire from the pull-in is not. is it normal? if not, what could be the breakdown?
the problem is in the retractor, put a new one, the old one does not make sense to repair it
Yes. flared with a screwdriver. and the contacts seem to be normal. did not stink of singed. but still contacts)
I've done everything. it was about contacts. turned the record over and that's it

It's a pity that this blogger has so few videos. He explains everything in a really sensible, professional and short manner. I would like your channel to come alive with new videos and the number of subscribers exceeded a million.
It is a pity that those who rightfully have the right to teach and know how to show and tell they have no time, but there are a lot of pizdabols on YouTube, who, without carrying any information content in their videos, make good money on their content, well, of course, the suprotek will help them.
Emin Kuliev I would be happy to shoot, but there is no time, all this can be done in free time from work, after all, my main activity is the repair of starters and generators, this is my bread, and not monetization of the channel.
Konstantin, please tell me the catalog number of the bendix, brush assembly and relay
Anton Khristoforov, I'm sorry, I can't)
And you also need to check the direction of rotation of the bendix so that the bevel on the teeth, the cut corresponds to the one that stood.
HI ALL. Guys need help. Here's the thing - “the fawn 206 stopped starting. Diagnosis - STARTER died. on the positive bolt of the pull-in wire with the power battery, and on the 50th terminal plus from the lock and everything should work
Konstantin Petrakov, that is, if you apply a constant (+) with akb to a penny, will it work as expected?
he should twist like this, but more slowly - the current goes through the winding of the retractor
Konstantin, such a question. Do I understand correctly that there should be no contact between the control and power terminals? What about between them and the case? My starter clicked, but did not twist. I took it off the car, started ringing the tester, beeps what is between these contacts between them and the case. The tester shows only 2 Ohms, this is very little. It turns out that the battery had to short through a constant plus on the starter to the case? But he is fine. Or when the key to “start” should have blown the fuse, but it is also intact. How can this be?
Thank you for the video. Konstantin what kind of lubricant did you use when assembling?
+ Konstantin Petrakov thanks
+ Alex. C. It all depends on many factors, where the starter is in what conditions it works. our Litol can turn into plasticine. several times such a starter came across (stood near the exhaust manifold)
+ Konstantin Petrakov Thank you for the answer, tell me, is the banal Litol worse or will do, your opinion is interesting, thank you
+ Alex. S. Thank you for your feedback. Used grease Castrol MS 3
Thank you for the video. I just bought a boo starter for my Aveo, but geared. The video will come in handy. But, Konstantin, there is a question: I took it apart so that I could sort out the entire starter, revise it and see that the cover that covers the gearbox satellites is covered in old grease, which is baked. And lubrication from the rotor side. Of course I will wash it off, wipe it off, but why could it be there? Where do you think those who have already serviced the starter made a mistake?
+ Sergey Kaptur this is normal - the grease from the gearbox often comes out into the armature cavity
very useful video, thanks!
Thank you, we are very pleased!
Thank you very much for the video. And tell me with your hands the bendix should turn in and out easily?
in one direction, the bendix gear should rotate by hand without jumps, squeaks or bites, in the other it should stop. the bendix should not move along the shaft by hand or should not independently (it is pushed by the fork through the core with a spring, sometimes the force from the hand is enough to compress this spring, but when released, the bendix should return to its place)
please) thanks for your wishes) if anything, please)

protection is there? if present, but do not need to do anything.
and on what machine do you want to do this?
will, of course, in the same way as through the factory) we serve Lacetti who work in a taxi, respectively, there is no protection as a class, they start a lot and the runs are not sickly) after our "engineering" until none of these starters returned, - only come with a factory hole, which is all overgrown with rust.
