AIR CONDITIONING FILTER
This filter removes dust and other volatile particles that enter the vehicle interior through the heating and ventilation system.
ATTENTION!
Driving with a clogged filter element can overheat the engine fan and damage it.
Fan failure in this case is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
• The frequency of filter replacement is given in the "MAINTENANCE REGULATIONS".
Replacing the filter
1. Remove the 4 screws from the filter cover under the glove compartment.
2. Remove the filter cover.
ATTENTION!
Sharp parts around the filter can injure your hands.
• When replacing the air conditioner filter, be sure to wear protective gloves.
3. Replace the air conditioner filter.
NOTE
When installing a new filter, make sure that it is perpendicular to the air flow.
Mileage for the year is small, but there are some breakdowns. Changed all 4 filters and engine oil. I fill in Rolf 5W-30, which is in a metal canister. I did not change the brake pads - the remainder is 3 mm and there is no peeling of the working surface - enough for another year. The steering rack sweats for 2 years, but the power steering fluid does not go away. Power steering fluid Dexron 3 synthetics was filled in. The other day, the rail occasionally began to rattle when turning the steering wheel to the left on bumps, but not fatally. I decided to try changing the power steering fluid back to Dexron 2 mineral water.

Later, I will definitely add a photo of broken bolts and supports
I use cars to the fullest. For three years, I periodically drove with great overload - 5 people in the cabin plus a full trunk (as in the photo). In connection with the above, the right rear shock absorber has leaked. Replacement of shock absorbers with a pair of KYB 333419, KYB 333420 RUB 2700 apiece. The original ones for 6,000 rubles were scared away by the cost. I also bought anthers and bumpers in the Boge 89-177-0 kit. Service work 2000 rubles. The stock rear stub struts have fallen into disrepair. I noticed it by the way I began to walk to the sides of the stern. I replaced it myself with the CTR CLKD-11.
Well, hello everyone! Probably my Gentra is the most running one available on the drome !? 108,000 km is not a joke.
So I have more to tell about her than others!
Rarely but aptly get out various, so to speak, sores. I look here at the person in the recall, the generator bearing at 30 thousand made a noise, I unscrewed 70 thousand before replacing it :-).
With a period of exactly 1 year, the brake hoses burst. First left, a year later right. Got an interesting experience of driving around the city without brakes 🙂 Forgive God, once again get this way.
At about 30,000 km, there was a slight buzzing under the hood. In winter, the buzz was small, barely audible from the passenger compartment, but by summer the buzz turned into strong howls when you pressed the gas pedal. It became clear that the generator bearings were ordered to live long. Replacement was made for bearings NSK 6202DDUCM and NSK 6303DDUCM. The manufacturer is Japan, but it turned out that they are doing it in Poland. After the replacement, the car is as good as new again, the engine runs very quietly. Sediment from the situation, of course, remained. What kind of machine is this in which the generator requires replacement of bearings for 30,000 km.
Maintenance in compliance with the work schedule established by the car manufacturer is a guarantee of long-term trouble-free service of your car. Many of us completely entrust this work to a car service. But a trip to a service station is always a cost of both time and money. Meanwhile, many car maintenance operations are technically simple and do not require large physical strength. You don't need to be a car mechanic to do most of the routine maintenance work. You will be amazed at how much time you will save if you do these jobs yourself. But you will be even more amazed by the fact that the cost of some simple service operations can significantly exceed the cost of replacement parts.
The frequency of maintenance for Daewoo Gentra is taken by the manufacturer as a multiple of 15 thousand km of run, except for "zero maintenance" carried out with a run of 3 thousand km. At the same time, the cost of a set of works prescribed by the regulations for replacing consumables and checking systems, components and assemblies of a car can reach 4000 and more rubles.
Also, many service stations often strongly "recommend" work that is not provided for by the regulations or provided for in other vehicle runs. Therefore, regardless of whether you are going to carry out maintenance yourself or go to a service station, we recommend analyzing the cost of work and consumables, carefully studying the maintenance regulations and familiarizing yourself with the procedure for carrying out all operations included in it. This will help you avoid unnecessary spending.
Maintenance schedule Daewoo Gentra
It is quite obvious that any unit of the Daewoo chassis must be in good condition. This is especially true of the suspension, since, unlike the engine, which can fail and Daewoo Gentra simply will not go further, the breakdown of some suspension elements while driving can lead to a serious accident.
1. In addition to obvious safety, the chassis of the Daewoo Zhentra is responsible for a comfortable ride and good handling. The most dangerous thing is that in this case there will be a high probability of loss of control, with the next collision with an obstacle that has arisen on the road. Only regular diagnostics of the Daewoo Gentra chassis will avoid such a situation.
Diagnostics of the Daewoo Gentra chassis includes checking the elements:
- springs and shock absorbers;
- levers and supports (bearings from above, silent blocks from below);
- stabilizer bushings Daewoo Zhentra;
- steering rods and rack;
- wheel bearings;
- CV JOINT.
2. For the owners of Daewoo Zhentra with experience, it is not difficult to determine the malfunction in the suspension. Experience will tell them what the problem is by the sound and its source. Plus, the most common suspension faults sound pretty much the same in all cars.
Diagnostics of the Daewoo Zhentra chassis should be carried out regularly, even without showing any hints of a malfunction. It is better to do this on a lift, but it can also be done on an ordinary flyover or observation pit.
3. It is important to remember how the Daewoo Gentra behaves in good condition, then any malfunction in the future will be obvious. To understand that something is wrong with a car, you do not need to be an experienced driver, and even more so, an auto mechanic.
Most often, the following signs of malfunctions of the Daewoo Zhentra chassis occur:
- the sudden appearance of noise, knocking, bouncing of the Daewoo Gentra chassis, which can both disappear and remain even on a completely flat road;
- too large rolls when cornering and noticeable swaying of the body when passing bumps or when braking;
- arbitrary steering to the side, Daewoo Zhentra leads away when driving straight;
- uneven tire wear.
4. Most often, you can hear exactly the knock of the Daewoo Zhentra suspension, it indicates that the rubber elements are worn out or the fasteners that hold them are loose.There are a lot of rubber elements in the chassis, by and large, almost any Daewoo Gentra suspension unit can knock, as a result, in order to accurately identify the cause of the knock, the car must be inspected from below.
If a crunch is heard, especially when cornering or with sharp acceleration of the Daewoo Gentra, then we can say with almost complete certainty that the reason lies in the Daewoo Zhentra CV joint malfunction, the so-called grenade. A squeak most often occurs after replacing the stabilizer bushings, often this indicates a poor-quality bushing.
5. If Daewoo Gentra began to drift aside, more often it happens after hard passage of pits and potholes, then you may have to do similarity collapse (camber-convergence Daewoo Zhentra). At best, this will eliminate the trouble, at worst, upon impact, something could bend, starting from the steering rod and ending with the steering knuckle.
If at least one of these signs occurs, it is necessary to diagnose the Daewoo Zhentra chassis as soon as possible. Even in the rules, operation with a faulty suspension is expressly prohibited, not to mention the fact that it is simply dangerous.
6. A Daewoo Gentra suspension silent block not replaced in time, which is not so expensive, can lead to a lever breakage, with a price tag of one hundred dollars. Many drivers drive without paying attention to the sounds that appear in the chassis of the Daewoo Zhentra, and drive until the sound becomes completely critical, or until something simply falls off, this approach is simply absurd.
7. Periodic visual inspection of the Daewoo Gentra undercarriage will help save money, after all, if you find a cracked boot or cover in time and make a prompt replacement, then the element that was protected by the boot will last longer. If, when examining the Daewoo Gentra, an already torn boot was found, then you can be sure that soon this suspension element will need to be replaced.
After checking all the anthers, you should start diagnosing the front suspension elements of the Daewoo Gentra. The front suspension is more complex than the rear, it is subject to heavy loads, as a result, it breaks much more often. First, we inspect Daewoo Gentra shock absorbers, they should not have dents or oil leaks. You can also try to swing the shock absorber to the sides, the swing amplitude should be insignificant.
But the easiest way to check the serviceability of this suspension element is to swing the Daewoo Zhentra by pressing the corner where the shock absorber being diagnosed is located. If, after pressing, Daewoo Gentra, having returned to its original state, continued swinging up and down, then this indicates a shock absorber malfunction.
8. Next, the springs of the chassis of the Daewoo Zhentra are examined, often their turns break off, so you need to inspect them for cracks and the integrity of all turns. But here you can also determine the functionality of the springs without looking under the car. To do this, you just need to pay attention to the clearance of the Daewoo Gentra, if the car has become noticeably lower, then this already indicates a malfunction of the springs, they sagged and can no longer perform their function properly.
9. Ball and silent blocks are checked only from the bottom side of Daewoo Gentra. To diagnose them, it is better to use some kind of metal lever to make it easier to check everything for backlash, they should not be in a working car. In the same way, the stabilizer and thrust supports of the Daewoo Zhentra are checked. To check the wheel bearing, you need to shake the wheel, if there is a play, this indicates a poor condition of the bearing.

The Daewoo Gentra model belongs to the class of inexpensive, comfortable and reliable cars created for operation in domestic conditions. Despite the fact that the appearance of the car is almost identical to the Chevrolet Lacetti model, daewoo engineers have made certain adjustments to the comfort, engine and technical capabilities of the car. However, they are not enough, and the real capabilities of the car can only be revealed with the help of high-quality chip tuning.
As in the case of other car models that belong to the budget class, the appearance of the Daewoo Gentra can be significantly improved by installing an aerodynamic body kit (front skirts, spoilers, door sills, deflectors, improved bumper, etc.), new, more sports rims, window tinting and body airbrushing. In addition, to improve the front of the car, you can install xenon lights or redo the standard optics by installing LEDs, tinting, etc. Different types of tuning the radiator grill, which you can do yourself, also look good. For example, you can install a mesh and paint it in body color.
The interior of the car is of sufficient quality, but some owners complain about the high level of noise in the car and the lack of "thoughtfulness" of the speakers of the standard speaker system. But most often, tuning the interior of the daewoo gentra boils down to improving or changing the color of the instrument panel illumination, installing additional lighting in the cabin at the feet of the driver and passengers. Next, we will tell you how to make a new tidy lighting with your own hands and replace the dull green color with white.
First of all, use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two screws that secure the steering wheel cover to the column. To do this, the steering wheel must be slightly turned to the left, then to the right. Next, two screws of the dashboard cover are unscrewed. After that, you should carefully pull out the plastic panel, which is attached to five clips, being careful not to deform them. After removing the panel, unscrew the 3 screws that secure the panel itself with glass on the right, left and top and disconnect the two electronic connectors that supply power. After removing the tidy, in no case is it recommended to turn on the ignition on the car, as this will lead to three or more errors, including the Check Engine light on.
To remove the visor of the mount and the glass from the panel, you must pry them in two places with a flat screwdriver. Unlike some domestic cars, the glass on the gentra dashboard is mounted on clips, so it is easy to remove and install it, the main thing is not to overdo it and do everything neatly.As soon as the visor and glass are dismantled, you need to pull out the arrows of the devices, with neat, uniform movements, so as not to damage the arrows themselves and not to bend the axis of the stepping motor.
The green color of the dashboard is ensured by the presence of a green light filter on the back of the dashboard on a substrate, which must be removed with an alcohol solution and cotton swabs. At this stage, it is important not to touch the substrate itself with your hands, since the traces cannot be completely removed. To improve the backlight, it is necessary to use a sealed diode tape, while dividing it into several segments according to the number of diodes. In addition, you can separately highlight and each of the removed arrows, for example, with red LEDs. Connect them in series, 2-3 pieces each, connected by special limiting resistors.
Daewoo Gentra in all trim levels is equipped with the only version of a 1.5-liter DOHC petrol engine with a capacity of 107 horsepower, which meets modern Euro-5 standards.
The car is equipped with front-wheel drive and two types of gearboxes, a 5-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic transmission. In this case, the indicator of the maximum speed is 180 kilometers per hour.
Those owners of this car who have decided to make a sporty version of it resort to deep technical tuning. It includes replacing the intake and exhaust system, installing a new air filter, turbine, etc. However, such tuning can hardly be called budgetary, and therefore it is simply not available to most motorists. High-quality tuning of the daewoo gentra engine means carrying out the following actions:
- installation of a different distribution mechanism and enlarged valves;
- boring of cylinders and installation of large-diameter pistons;
- modernization of the engine intake manifold;
- installation of a zero resistance air filter;
- manufacture or purchase of a straight-through muffler;
- replacement of the brake system, clutch, etc.
It is much easier, cheaper and more efficient in modern conditions to carry out full or partial chip tuning of the engine for the Daewoo Gentra model. The effect of chip tuning depends on many factors, the main of which is the quality and variations in the settings of the new program. Tuning studios, which are engaged in flashing Daewoo models, promise a power increase of 13-15 percent, that is, from the standard 107 hp to 120 "horses". This is achieved by recalibrating various parameters, removing the EGR valve and recalibrating the ECU fuel card.
The main drawbacks of the engine on the Daewoo Gentra model are noticeable sags when picking up speed, “thoughtfulness” during acceleration and also a noticeable jerking of the car during constant gear changes, for example, in traffic in a traffic jam. High-quality chip tuning allows you to turn off the oxygen sensors, remove the resulting errors, programmatically remove the catalytic envelopes, the EGR valve and the particulate filter. In addition, chip tuning allows you to calibrate the fuel delivery parameters and correctly adjust the ignition timing for new computer data.
To carry out chip tuning with your own hands, you need to have a reliable programmer and a certain set of software and equipment available. Daewoo Gentra is equipped with a standard Delphi MT60 control unit. There is no specific program specifically for this ECU model, so advanced chip tuners adapt the existing software for it. Currently, the most common option is the Combiloader loader with an MT80 tab, which is able to read the MT60 block, while it is impossible to calculate the calibers of the standard program using this loader.
It is worth noting that the price of chip tuning for the Gentra model in a specialized tuning studio is not so high, however, if the procedure is carried out by specialists, the owner receives a guarantee and at any time will be able to replace the firmware with the factory version.Currently, the price of chip-tuning does not exceed 6000-7000 rubles, while full diagnostics, error elimination and software shutdown of unnecessary "environmental" parts are carried out.
On average, the real increase is no more than 8 percent to the nominal power (this is how the practice of flashing MT60 units for Daewoo Gentra shows), so if you are offered something more, most likely, this is a publicity stunt. In addition, it should be remembered that it is not recommended to squeeze the necessary indicators out of the engine too much, as this inevitably leads to a reduction in the resource, especially if chip tuning is carried out after a deep modernization of the engine or installation of a turbine, in this case the firmware is “adjusted” to the new parameters engine.
Do you still think that car diagnostics is difficult?
If you are reading these lines, then you have an interest in doing something yourself in the car and really savebecause you already know that:
- STO lomat big money for simple computer diagnostics
- To find out the error, you need to go to the specialists
- Simple wrenches work in the services, but you can't find a good specialist
And of course you are tired of throwing money away, and there is no question of driving around the service station all the time, then you need a simple ELM327 AUTOSSCANER that connects to any car and through a regular smartphone you will always find a problem, pay off CHECK and save a lot.
We have tested this scanner ourselves on different machines. and it showed excellent results, now we recommend it to EVERYONE! So that you do not fall for the Chinese counterfeit, we publish here a link to the official website of the AutoScanner.

The Ravon Gentra is a lot of car for a little money. Less than half a million - and the air conditioner is already there! True, this particular air conditioner is one of the main reasons for concern. Why? Let's figure it out now. And at the same time, we will learn how and why to make a bulletproof engine control unit.
Gentra has a unique and outstanding history in the Russian market. Just think: the car remains on the market, changing its third brand already! Having started selling as a Chevrolet Lacetti, the sedan with minor alterations and a change of engine turned into Daewoo Gentra, and more recently the Daewoo brand itself has turned into Ravon. Hence the non-standard story with the statistics of “childhood illnesses”: specifically for “Ravon” it has not yet matured or matured, so it’s easier to focus on the reviews of the owners of the “Gentra”, which is still Daewoo. To trace the heredity of "sores" and to understand which of them have already been cured, we were helped by the reviews of the owners and employees of service centers familiar with the car.
Perhaps one of the most common problems with Gentra is an air conditioner that stops working or stops working quickly. The mileage at which the owners discovered this malfunction depended on the season: for example, those who bought a car in winter could drive all the cold months without suspecting that there was a problem. But for those who bought a car in the heat, the problem became obvious immediately.
“I bought a car in winter, check the operation of the air conditioner without specials. there were no appliances, since it was cold outside, in the summer, when the heat came, I turned on the air conditioner, and warm air blew from there. I went to a car dealership, repairs under warranty, they poured me out there for 5 hours, then they gave me the car, they said that they had forgotten to fill in freon at the factory. After that, in the summer, the air conditioner turned on only a couple of times (this was a mistake), because, having turned it on after a year, I realized that the air conditioner was giving out warm air again. I turned to a car dealership for a guarantee, they refused me, supposedly the guarantee is only a year or 20,000 mileage. “, - the owner of Daewoo (Ravon) Gentra under the nickname roman.andronov tells his story on the website
The air conditioner stopped working because it ran out of freon, thanks to which the air conditioner performs its duties. As the owners complained, the manufacturer was initially “greedy” with the amount of freon charged into the air conditioner, and the one that was in the system gradually “ran away” along with the compressor oil due to poor-quality O-rings on the dryer - in cold weather the seals were deformed and the tightness of the system was violated. It was these very rings that the manufacturer changed actively and in large quantities, along the way, in a normal way, refueling the air conditioner. However, the problem often returned: the quality of the rings did not improve, and over time they again began to “bleed” the freon and oil. Moreover, the departure of the lubricant from the air conditioning system sometimes led to compressor breakdown.
As the mechanics say, after 2015, the statistics on leaks have straightened: the quality of the O-rings has become higher, and the air conditioner is working properly, not letting the oil with freon go anywhere. However, some owners may argue with this statement: often after cold weather, the problem of current air conditioners returns, and by this time the warranty, as a rule, has already expired. In this case, many change the factory O-rings to thicker counterparts. Well, within the framework of the guarantee, problems with the air conditioner are still eliminated without problems free of charge for the client.
“Gentra - holey brains” - could be heard in the address of the car. Such an important detail as the electronic control unit turned out to be perhaps the weakest point in the engine compartment. It turned out to be open to all winds, waters, mud, - in a word, everything that somehow got under the hood while driving. At the same time, the "filling" of the block was not protected by anything, so it could easily break down, "sour" from moisture. The manufacturer, admittedly, noticed the problem in time, but sad variants of the development of this story happened. “Yes, indeed, having stalled in the middle of the road, I realized that I had made a huge mistake. I forgot to take a picture of my Gentra's burned-out brains. With the help of my friends, the car was towed to the dealer, and within 3 weeks the car was being repaired. The ECU block on which the contacts were rotted was shown to me on the first day of the repair. “, - wrote, for example, the user shatana on the forum
Official dealers, however, reassure: Gentra really had such a problem with electronics, but it was encountered only on the first lots of cars - those that were still Daewoo. Owners were invited to service centers to check the ECU condition and, if necessary, seal the control unit connector. Appropriate measures were taken in production, assembly control was strengthened. So on new cars (which are already Ravon), such problems should not arise.
Quite interesting in this story is the fact that many owners, just in case, undertook to protect the engine control unit on their own - a huge number of options for different protective screens and boxes made from improvised means (pieces of cans, plastic boxes, etc.) were offered. Some were not lazy even to cook metal protection (!), After which the “brains” of the car were not so much moisture as bullets were not afraid.
And this problem appeared in “Gentra” in its very first incarnation - in those distant times, when it was still a Chevrolet Lacetti sedan. On some lots of cars, after washing or driving in heavy rain, the foam rubber of the back sofa suddenly began to damp - occasionally arising, this strange and unpleasant feature was “inherited” by the Gentra model along with the body.
“So this problem touched me too. A little moisture and damp foam rubber of the sofa.
In principle, there was no surprise, I was ready. “, - writes in the social network> user gpit.
Official dealers quickly found out about the problem and began to take action. As it turned out, the leak was caused by a leaky seam on the cups of the rear supports. Moreover, experts reassure: the power structure of the body is in perfect order, and in general we are talking about a hole literally a few millimeters in diameter. So, in any case, there is nothing to worry about: the rear suspension on a good pit will not go into the cabin or into the trunk.
As for the solution to the problem, it is simple: the officials coated the seams with sealant free of charge - periodically, however, "flooding" the interior in search of a leak. In addition, this problem is not typical for all copies of the Gentra without exception, but for individual parties. Now the quality control in production has been increased, and the manufacturer has dealt with the current support cups.
Gentra owners have a lot of complaints about the build quality of the body and interior, and they are so diverse that making a systematized list is not so easy: someone does not like poorly exposed gaps, sagging / protruding / sinking bumpers, someone has poorly adjusted headlights or the bumpers are badly painted over, someone complains about creaks and cracks in various corners of the cabin, - in a word, each owner has a couple of complaints about this. One of the claims that many agree on is doors that stubbornly refuse to close with a “civilized” effort. “Clap boldly - you won’t break it,” the owners joke.
“I recently became the owner of this car. And the first so far the most unpleasant thing that I had to face, three out of four doors close very badly. A detailed inspection convinced that the door locks were not properly adjusted, ”wrote the user segun73 on the gentra-club.com forum.
Many owners really blame the dealers for the hasty pre-sale - at least after adjusting the doors, the situation corrected for many, and the doors began to close noticeably better. However, as the dealers themselves say, sometimes you shouldn't rush to conclusions - you need to give the car a little "acclimatization". On the Gentra, seals made of rather hard rubber are used, which takes time to work in: it may not allow the doors to close normally at first, but over time it becomes softer, and the situation returns to normal.
As for the body as a whole, as the officials say, stamping of body parts is made from steel sheet with an anti-corrosion coating. The thickness of the metal varies from 0.7 to 1.75 mm (power elements are thicker, non-power ones are thinner), which fully complies with GOST. So the gaps are gaps, and Gentra got rid of the rapidly decaying bodies for which Daewoo Nexia once became famous.
Alternator bearing wear
“I think my generator is dead. Drains the battery. Prior to that, the bearings were changed 3 times under warranty. And the car is only 1 year old. All generator repairs were noted in the service book. I will demand a replacement for a new one. “, - writes a user under the nickname Herzen on the forum>
This problem, again, is rather relevant for Daewoo Gentra - statistics on Ravons is only beginning to form as the mileage of purchased cars grows, but Daewoo owners are well acquainted with quickly “tired” generator bearings. The mileage on which this happens varies greatly: there were cases when an unpleasant trolleybus hum began to be heard from under the hood already at the fifth thousand kilometers, and someone drove without problems for more than one year.
Owners' complaints about failing bearings (already replaced under warranty, sometimes more than once) continue to appear periodically on the forums. Those who have already expired their warranty prefer to look for analog versions - for example, they use components from AvtoVAZ quite successfully.

Of course, the owners of competing classmates can gloat and be in complete confidence that they have definitely made the right choice and bought the most reliable and problem-free car. But there are no ideal cars - and the fact that your favorite model has not yet appeared in this section means only one thing: we just haven't got to it yet.
